The last story I posted here I ended up deleting with the intention of re-working it. Until then I was working on my Disney Princesses as moms collection and revisiting Rapunzel! This is set directly after the movie and framed where Eugene was telling the movie to a group of kids. Since this is a revisit I do have one extra child for them as a couple but adopted. I tried to choose a plant name like Rapunzel and Laurel that was unique but not too unusual. Her name is Hyacinth which I pulled from Bridgerton believe it or not lol.

Enjoy and please leave a review!

Outside Little Rascal's Orphanage, a drizzle of rain started to pitter patter on the brand new roof. King consort Eugene Fitzherbert finished telling his story. Next to him on his right Queen Rapunzel sat there listening to him. On his left was his friend Lance with his grandson, from Varian and Catalina, Tristan.

"And they lived happily ever after," he said dramatically. Rapunzel next to him was shaking her head but a large smile on her face. He had made a funny face to her as she giggled. The rest of the kids around them clapping a whistle among the crowd.

"And then what happened?" asked an impatient voice. "Everyone knows your life doesn't end when you get married."

Eugene watched the faces of his small audience. Among the orphans at the orphanage were also his and Rapunzel's three children. The twins Laurel and Bastain were pretending to emulate the story since they heard it so much. Their youngest, the adopted Hyacinth, sat with her toy clutched to her chest. Rapunzel had picked her up and set her on her lap. Her red hair tickled her chest and sweet smile made Rapunzel want to smile.

"Well they had us," said Bastian, puffing his chest out. His brown hair flopping over his face brushing it out of the way. In a way he was a lot like she'd imagine Eugene at that age.

"Right daddy?" asked his twin, seven year old Laurel with a silly grin on her face. Her hands poised on her hips as if telling them 'I told you so.' Her purple skirt swished as she sat back down and waist length brown hair looked like a rope touching the floor sitting down.

"Well not right away," added Rapunzel pulling her son down from his standing position. "That is a different story."

"Can we hear that one too?" asked a little girl in the front. "Is it good?"

"Well I believe so," said Rapunzel, recalling Cassandra and her first years living in the castle. "What does everyone else think? Should we come back and tell you another story?"

There was a dull roar of cheers and kids shouting yes. Rapunzel beamed as Eugene gave her a thumbs up signal. It sounded like they were a hit! The orphanage directors were trying to get everyone to calm down. It was starting to get late as Rapunzel glanced out the window to see the night start to fall and the rain pick up. They were here late…

A sense of pride ran through her. Part of Eugene's duties as her consort was to support a cause, for him it was the orphanage. He had invited her to come with him when her queenly duties were finished for the day. It had been so much fun to visit them during the holidays and the weekly visits were amazing.

In fact, they had adopted a baby that was dropped off when the mother died in childbirth. Little Hyacinth came to them right when she needed them. It was so much fun to play with a toddler again! Then again her twins weren't exactly all grown up either. She still helped them paint on the walls after all.

"Queen Rapunzel," said one of the directors, Elsie, if she remembered it right, "I guess we'll be seeing you again next week."

"Same time, same place," said Rapunzel standing up straighter. "We love to come here and visit the children."

Before her elder could respond back she heard a shout from behind her.

"Sunshine I think it's time to go," said Eugene as Rapunzel turned to look at him.

Then promptly burst into giggles.

"Eugene!"

Hyacinth was on his shoulders this time, her fingers playing with his hair. On each leg were the twins preventing him from walking very far. Lance was laughing on his way out saying that he'd see them next week.

Rapunzel and Elsie shared a laugh before she pried the twins off his legs. Laurel and Bastian are still pretty hyper from their day. Hyacinth was the only one remotely tired, nearly falling asleep on Eugene's head after the long carriage ride.

Humming to herself, Rapunzel brushed her hair sitting at her vanity undoing the braids her now breast length brown hair falling. Eugene watched the rain from their bed waiting for her.

"So what story do you think we should start with Sunshine?" he asked sitting up in their bed.

"Hmm, we have so many good ones. Maybe ask the kids which ones they're most interested in."

"That's a great idea maybe..."

A crack of silver lightning light up the sky with an angry boom. Then the rain started to pour almost shaking the window panes as Eugene and Rapunzel shared a look. They knew what was going to happen next and started out their door. Shrieks of terror filled the rooms down the hall.

"Mommmmmy!" screeched Laurel running down the hall to their bedroom.

"Hyacinth is crying," yelled Bastain from presumably her bedroom.

Eugene and Rapunzel raced to their children ready to comfort them. Eugene for the twins and Rapunzel to their two year old. Hyacinth was crying in her crib wanting to be held and Rapunzel lifted her to her chest. She whimpered and buried her face when the lightning cracked across the sky.

"Shh, it's alright," she said, rocking her back to calmness back in her arms. Eugene had pulled the twins to sit next to him.

"How about we tell our story a little earlier tonight?" asked Eugene. "We could tell you about what happens next. "Have we ever told you about Lady Cane?"

The kids shook their heads no as one of the maids brought them a tray full of hot chocolate. Accepting it, they sat next to each other. Eugene settled between Bastian and Laurel, their hot chocolate warm against their hands and blankets laced over them from the maids. Outside the storm raged as they got comfy to get a preview of the next story. Maybe this is how they start the stories at the orphanage.

Rapunzel stroked her daughters hair listening to Eugene telling his half of the story.
