The Eret Family were escaping on two Squire Bulls with their money, and Snotlout was running right after them.
"Come back!" Snotlout yelled.
"That was easy."
"You won't get away with this!"
"That looks like the Eret Family," said Iceberg.
"How in the world did they get our money?" Hiccup stared.
"Snotlout had one job," Astrid groaned.
At the same time, Palmer was running across the bridge with debt collectors on his tail.
"Wait there, Palmer!"
"You're not getting away this time!"
"I'm telling you I'll get you the money. You just have to wait a little longer!" Palmer yelled.
Iceberg looked at Kala. "Is that…"
"Yes, it's Palmer," Kala nodded. "The debt collectors after him again."
Snotlout was a little bit more preoccupied chasing down the Eret Family.
"Where are you going with our money?" Snotlout yelled.
"It was so nice of you leaving us 2 million Gil like that," they smirked.
"Bunch of cowards, I'm going to make you pay!" Snotlout yelled.
Hiccup narrowed his eyes at Snotlout. "You were supposed to be watching the briefcases!"
"Hey, that I live. I asked them to steal them!" Snotlout yelled.
"Give us the money," said the debt collectors.
"For the last time, I can't give you money if I don't have it!" Palmer yelled.
"Stop making excuses and pay up!"
"You're going to chase me all the way to my grave, aren't you," said Palmer, and then he noticed the Eret Family swimming beneath the bridge. "Squires and just in time too."
He then jumped off the bridge and fell down towards the Squires. "Rope Action!"
The rope then shut up his sleeves, and the Eret Family saw him falling towards them and began to panic.
"Hey, that's one of the shipwrights from Galley Law!"
"Sorry fellas, but I got the ball of the Squires now!" said Palmer. "Time for my Round Turn."
He then swung the rugs right down onto the Eret Family and wrapped them around them. He then quickly wrapped the rope around his wrists and pulled as hard as he could, slamming their heads into one another. Then as the four of them fell into the water, he landed on the Squire that was carrying the money and was floating away from the debt collectors.
"You punk, just you wait! We'll get you next time!"
"So long, gentleman, it was a wonderful rate is always," said Palmer as he waved them goodbye. "Take care, maybe you can try again next week!"
The debt collectors just looked at him furiously as he floated away.
"I've gotta admit, for a Squire, you sure have a good sense of dramatic timing," said Palmer looking down at the Squire.
"That was close," said Snotlout with a sigh of relief and looked at Iceberg. "Though shipwrights of yours have got some pretty fancy moves."
"That they do," Iceberg nodded.
"Hey, buddy, thanks for the help!" Snotlout waved. "I was starting to think that we would never see our money again!"
"Money?" said Palmer and then looked at the briefcases. "Oh, he must mean this."
Upon seeing the amount of money, his eyes beamed and then promptly sailed away from the shipping yard.
"You've got to be kidding me," said Snotlout.
Hiccup looked at him. "The guy was running from some debt collectors a new told him that those briefcases are filled with money, and you're surprised?"
"When you put it like that, it was pretty dumb," Snotlout admitted.
Hiccup sighed. "I'll chase after him."
However, someone then placed a hand on his shoulder, stopping before he had a chance to transform. He turned around and saw Lael standing behind him.
"I'll get your money back," he assured him.
Silvernose was now below deck in the men's quarters, and he was admiring the décor.
'This is a manly room if ever I've seen one,' he said and saw that there was even a trace of dust. 'And as clean as a whistle too.' He then bent down and examined the floorboards. 'Still, these floorboards are showing some wear and tear.'
He then started to remove the loose floorboards, and doing so, he alerted Toothless.
"I thought your shipwright, not a ship dismantle," said Toothless as he popped his head down.
"Well, queue up again, didn't I?" he said, looking up at him. "Don't worry, I'll put things back together once I checked under the floorboards."
He then down and look beneath the floorboards, and his eyes widened.
Lael had finally managed to catch up with Palmer, and they were now sailing back towards the shipyard.
"Ow! Ow! All right, let go! Take it easy!" Palmer yelled as Lael pulled on his ear. "Jeez, I'm not going to run away! You got me, you win all right! You can stop pitching my ear now!" Lael then released him, and Palmer then began to rub his sore ear. "I was lucky enough to find that money, and you screw it up. You better watch your back Lael, I'll remember this."
"You can't pay back your debt with someone else's money, idiot," said Lael. "Have you no shame?"
"Hey, I happened upon that money fair and square!"
"Stealing from thieves is still stealing!"
"I didn't steal anything; I was just borrowing their Squire, that's all!"
"Looks like they're back," said Iceberg.
"Looks like you're the hook, Snotlout," said Hiccup.
"Hey, I didn't see you lend a hand!" Snotlout snapped.
"Lael said that he would handle it before he had a chance," Astrid reminded him.
"Well, that was embarrassing," said Iceberg as he put Rex in his pocket. "Rest assured, we will deal with our employee appropriately. Allow us to handle this, so there's no bad blood between you."
"Although Palmer's behaviour was reprehensible, it's fortunate that he was able to save your money from the Eret Family," Kala pointed out.
"Well, I guess you could look at it that way," said Astrid.
"So who is this Eret Family exactly?" Hiccup asked curiously. "I get the impression they weren't just simple thieves."
"Well, it depends, but normally they dismantle ships," Kala explained.
"You mean that workmen?" Astrid frowned. "I don't know about you, but I would never hire a team that looks like that."
"Indeed, but they are gesture dismantlers. They are also bounty hunters. Every time they find out that there are pirates in town, they cause quite a ruckus. To put it simply, they are just a public nuisance."
"Not only do they collect bounties on the pirates the defeat, but they also take possession of their ships. Afterwards, they dismantle them and sell whatever parts they can on the open market," Iceberg added. "It may seem underhanded, but for them, it's good business."
"What a bunch of jerks," said Snotlout clenching his fists. "It's either trying to dismantle the whole pirate lifestyle!"
"If they catch you, they will most certainly bleed you dry," Iceberg warned.
Hiccup frowned. "Those guys didn't look particularly strong."
"They were merely underlings. Eret, the leader of the group, is not nearly as harmless. If I were you, I would avoid him at any costs."
Other members of the Eret Family began pulling their comrade out of the drink and tending to their wounds.
"Crap, it wasn't for that shipwright we would have had it," said a leader clenching his fist in frustration.
"Hang in there, bro."
"I think I'm going to make it."
"Hey, do you know where the Dragon Riders are at right now?" said their leader.
"No… I guess they might still be over at Dock One."
Lael finally arrived back at the shipyard with Palmer, pulling on his ear again.
"You go, Iceberg, do with him as you will," said Lael.
"I'm here; you can let go!" Palmer yelled.
"Excellent work as always, Lael," Iceberg acknowledged.
Lael then looked at Hiccup and the others. "Surely, I can't apologise enough for the actions of this oaf."
"So long as we got our money back, we don't mind," Hiccup assured him.
Lael then tossed Palmer onto the ground. "Tell the nice people at your sorry, oaf."
He then tossed the briefcases onto his chest.
"Look, we're just glad that we have our money back," said Hiccup.
"Oh, so these belong to you, huh?" said Palmer as he rose to his feet and handed them the briefcases. "It's a good thing that I was around."
"We appreciate it," said Hiccup.
"You really want to thank me? Give me 10%."
Lael then struck him in the head with a hammer. "Again, I'm quite sorry. This imbecile is addicted to gambling, you see. He's racked up such a massive debt that has made him lose sight of everything but greed."
"Ah, that explains the men that were chasing after him," said Hiccup.
"I've had just about enough of you, Lael," said Palmer rubbing the bump on his head. "This will shut you up. Rope Action!" He then immediately spun around and flung his robe at Lael. "Bowline Knot!"
With a quick twist, the rope tied itself into a knot around Lael's arm and then, with one good pull Palmer flipped Lael into the air.
"Punishment!" he yelled.
The three of them watched as Lael slammed into the ground so hard that dust shot out of the ground.
"Hook line and sinker," said Palmer.
Astrid looked at Iceberg. "You're just going to let your employees duke it out?"
"This is nothing new," he said.
When the dust cleared, they saw that Lael was completely fine; in fact, that wasn't even a single scratch on him.
"Whoa, check it out," said Snotlout. "I thought that he landed on his head, but he stopped himself with his arm."
Sure enough, Lael was standing on one arm. Clearly, this allowed him to cushion the fall. However, that wasn't all as his fingers were dug into the ground.
"Not only that, but he dug his hand into the ground," said Hiccup.
"These guys are clearly not your normal shipwrights," said Astrid.
Lael then jumped onto his feet and stood there proud and tall.
"Oh, you want some more," said Palmer folding his sleeves as he marched up towards Lael. "I'll take you on any time!"
"Enough, Palmer," said Iceberg strictly.
"Please excuse us with all the fuss; I am Lael Robson," said Lael. "And as you might have gathered, I work here at this factory."
"I think they can figure that out all by themselves," said Palmer, then his eyes fell upon Astrid. "Ahh! Hold on a second, what is that woman think she's doing?"
Astrid gave him a confused look. "What do you mean?"
"Have you no shame," he said, looking down at her skirt. "Don't play down with me, you harlot; I can see way too much leg! Cover up and show a little decency, will you? This dock is a man's workplace, you know!"
"Now, now, Palmer," said Kala gently. "Let's calm down."
Palmer then looked down at Kala's skirt. "You too, Kala! How many times have I told you that those clothes of yours are not appropriate? If you want to look professional, you should wear pants or a recent ankle-length skirt."
"This guy is a total prude," said Snotlout.
"He certainly does seem to be serious," Astrid agreed.
"Guess we're not the only ones with unique quirks," said Hiccup.
"Enough of that," said Iceberg. "Let's open the gate and start the tour already?"
Palmer finally calmed down, and both he and Lael made their way to the large door.
"That's just about the biggest door I've ever seen," said Snotlout, and then he noticed that Palmer and Lael were going to open it by hand. "And you're going to open it by hand? Wait, those two can't open it up on their own, right?"
The two of them faced a single hand on the door and began to push, proving that they could open it by themselves.
"I guess they can," said Snotlout.
"Each dock only has five foreman, and despite their peculiarities, these two are both talented enough to hold the position here in Dock 1," said Iceberg. "Slivernose, who you met earlier, is a foreman too. In a place like this, talent is the only thing that matters, so even if they are a bit strange, we don't mind."
"Sounds familiar," Hiccup smiled.
"We can go in now," said Snotlout excitedly as he dashed into the dock.
"Remember to keep a close eye on your money, not that I'm saying that we have fees inside mind you," said Iceberg.
"Yeah, I'm really sorry that you got dragged into that mess," said Snotlout. "It will not happen again!"
"Why did we ever agreed to have him look after the money?" Hiccup asked as he and Astrid entered the dock.
"Beats me," said Astrid.
"Dock one employed the strongest of the Galley Law's Company; we take on our most difficult requests in here," said Iceberg. "Come on, let's take a look inside."
When they stepped inside, they were completely mesmerised as they saw at least a hundred men working on ships as big as whales. There were different machines to lift the lumbar, and every single chimney was puffing out smoke.
"This place is huge," said Hiccup. "I knew it was going to be awesome, but it's even more impressive up close."
"No kidding," said Astrid.
"Look over there, they're building a bigger galleon," said Snotlout. "I wonder who it's for?"
"Wow, they've got the full force working here," said Astrid.
"Now this way if you will," said Iceberg as he led them through the shipyard.
As they were making their way through the shipyard, all the shipwrights then noticed Iceberg walking by.
"Whoa, do you guys see that Iceberg is here?"
"Look sharp for the boss, everyone!"
"Good morning, Mr Iceberg!"
"Nice to see you here, sir."
"Hey, boss, can you take a look at the outer panels for me?"
"Sure, I'll stop by later," Iceberg promised.
"Lovely day ain't it, Mr Iceberg?"
"That depends on how the project is going," he chuckled.
"We're actually ahead of schedule, sir!"
"Mr Iceberg is certainly popular around here, huh?" said Hiccup.
"In a place where skill is everything, it's only natural that he shines," said Kala. "It's interesting, although shipbuilding has always been a thriving business before Iceberg's time, it was divided between seven competing companies. Regardless, when he showed up, there was something about his talent that united everyone in the city. With so many workers flocking to him, it wasn't long before he made the seven companies into one, and five years ago, Galley Law was born.
"His passion for shipbuilding has never diminished, and neither has the respect of the craftsman showed to him. The people here take pride in their work, so they don't bow down to anyone; that goes for pirates and Marines officers alike. That is the spirit the shipyard embodies."
"Then we can't ask for a finer guide to fix our ship," said Hiccup. "We've been sailing on an ever since our adventure began."
Iceberg looked at him. "You mean to say you've sailed to Water 7 without any shipwrights on your crew?"
"Yeah, I've been patching up the ship as best I could, but we really do need a professional," said Hiccup folding his arms. "It's another reason why we came to this island. We want our ship repaired, but we are also looking for a new crewmember too."
"We certainly do have plenty of shipwrights to go around, but I wonder if any of them would be willing to join a pirate ship?" said Iceberg placing his hands behind his back. "To be able to find someone who agrees to go with you, I won't get in the way."
"That's very gracious of you," said Hiccup. "It certainly goes a long way to say why so many people like you."
"By the way, Kala mentioned earlier that Heather Owson was a member of your crew," said Iceberg curiously. "Is that correct?"
"She is," said Hiccup. "She had no place to go and asked to join our crew. Of course, if she wishes to jump ship not going to stop her. Though I can't help but notice that when her name was mentioned, you were rather startled. Is that something I should be concerned about become?"
"No, it's perfectly fine," Iceberg assured him.
Hiccup could tell that something was up, but he needed the ship repaired, so you didn't decide to push on the issue.
Snotlout, meanwhile, was wandering around the dock looking at all the ships being built. More specifically, a large cannon that was being lifted onto one of them.
"I can watch them do this stuff all day," he said.
"Keep it steady; no need to rush. We've got this!"
"We've got to get a cannon like that on the Tiger; it would be awesome," said Snotlout and then his eyes fell upon a golden cannon not too far away. "Wow, it's so shiny and long! They really do have everything. I can't wait to see that bad boy in action."
Unbeknownst to him, members of the Eret Family were hiding behind some lumbar.
"Here's our chance," said their leader.
They then slowly began to sneak up on him while his back was turned.
"I bet that thing is super expensive," said Snotlout looking at the cannon. "I wonder if they would let me try it out? Oh, wait a sec, we've got 300 million Gil; I almost forgot! We can afford at least one of those no, maybe even two or three."
The Eret Family then grabbed him and took him away before any of the shipwrights knew what was happening.
"Did that black-haired guy leave already?"
Chopper was trying to track down Heather, but there was easier said than done. For some reason has sent just kept on disappearing and reappearing in different locations.
"Heather was right there; where did she go?" Chopper frowned. He then picked up a cent once again. "This way."
He crossover bridge and then suddenly smelt two other scents, and they were very familiar. "I know those smells."
He turned his head around the corner and saw Ragnar and Fishlegs standing there looking out of the open ocean.
"I thought so," he said.
Ragnar and Fishlegs still trying to figure out what happened to Heather.
"She certainly wasn't acting herself," said Fishlegs looking at Ragnar. "I mean, it's like she just ignored us."
"I'm a bit more concerned about who that guy in a mask was," said Ragnar folding his arms. "It could have been Chopper, but I'm not so sure."
"Ragnar!" Fishlegs!" Chopper cried as he galloped towards them.
"Speak of the devil," said Ragnar as they turned around.
Silvernose had just returned to Dock One and had landed next to Hiccup and Astrid.
"Silvernose, where did you run off to?" Palmer asked.
"An assessment," he said.
"Wow, you are fast," said Astrid looking amazed.
"I take it you check the ship?" Hiccup assumed.
"That I did," he nodded and then he noticed Iceberg. "That's a coincidence; we were wondering where you were."
"They told me why they're here," said Iceberg. "How was the ship?"
"About that," he said, looking rather grave.
Toothless and the twins were still on the Going Tiger, and all three of them were quiet as they were thinking about Slivernose's assessment.
"What?" said Toothless. "You had better not be lying because if this is a joke, I'm sure as hell not laughing!"
"Yeah, because it's in really bad taste," said Ruffnut.
"I wouldn't lie about something like this; I'm a professional," Silvernose assured.
The three of them just sat there feeling very solemn.
Back at Dock One, Hiccup noticed that Snotlout was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did Snotlout run off to?" he asked.
"Last I saw, he was looking at the cannons over there," Astrid pointed.
A shipwright then appeared around the corner, holding the briefcases that Snotlout had been carrying.
"Hey, you there!" he waved. "These bags are yours, aren't they?"
Astrid groaned in frustration. "Snotlout was opposed to be taking care of those, but yeah, they're ours."
"Thanks for returning them," said Hiccup looking at the shipwright. "But next time I see Snotlout, I'm going given the stiff talking to."
"You can talk to him; I'm just going to punch him silly," said Astrid. "What was he thinking leaving on money lying around?"
"Your money?" said the shipwright.
Hiccup looked at him quickly. "We appreciate you returning them to us, but shouldn't you get back to work?"
"Yeah, you're right, take care," he said as he left.
Hiccup then looked at the Iceberg at his employees. "So how much are the repairs going to cost us? Though I should, we don't just want her repaired. We want her to upgrade her as well; we still have a long journey ahead of us."
"The not so fast," said Silvernose looking at them rather solemnly, leaving them rather confused. "That ship of yours, she has gone on some real extraordinary journeys, hasn't she?"
"You don't know the half of it," said Hiccup.
"Then you should know that her battle scars are far worse than you think."
"Are you saying that it's going to a long time to fix her?" Astrid frowned.
"No, ma'am. It's not about the time; it's not about skill either. I'm saying that no one can fix her, not even us."
To just stood there horrified as everyone just stood there in silence.
Palmer then sat down on some lumbar and reared up some smoke from his cigar. "So that means the keel is damaged, huh?"
"That's right," Silvernose nodded. "It looks like it's taking a real wallop."
"No way, we-we've gone everywhere without any problems until now!" Astrid yelled.
"In theory, even if we did everything we could, the probability of your ship lasting until the next island… is zero."
Toothless and the twins just stood there on the ship looking at the figurehead.
"Tiger, tell us is what he said true? You'll never sail again?" said Toothless.
