The resurgence of the Ancient and Noble House of Gamp
Chapter 1: Different world, different time
Harry Potter believed that he would be free after getting the killing curse from Tom. Harry knew he had to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He must destroy Horcrux at any cost.
He realized he was thinking like Dumbledore. That older man was a faithful preacher of the concept of greater good from a very young age. Yet, he found himself agreeing with the former headmaster of his school. Maybe this was his destiny.
Harry thought he would meet with his lost ones in afterlives. However, he had a feeling that something was wrong.
Why his head was aching now, death should make you free from the pain. Harry suddenly opened his eyes. The electric light was hitting on his face after his eye-opening.
After getting used to light, he looked at his surrounding. It seemed like he was inside a room. Harry found himself at a loss that time.
First, he was aching from a headache, and second, he found himself in a room.
" Why it is always me"? Harry angrily asked himself.
Suddenly he was feeling a hefty load of details in his head. It was coming like waves and hitting his brain. Harry could not understand anything at that moment. The data was coming too rapidly, and he was simply unable to grasp any of it.
It was too painful for him. It is worse than Tom's mental attack. Harry could not take it anymore and lost consciousness. Harry ultimately wakes up. He did not know from where this pain came. Yet, he was feeling somewhat grateful now. His head was not paining now.
He looked around the room. The room had a single bed, a small sofa, a muggle TV, and a table.
In a nutshell, it looked like he was living inside a lower-end muggle hotel room.
" I am not a dead person." The realization certainly brought some surprise to Harry.
Yet, he again discovered himself at a loss the next moment. He did not die, but he was doing in a muggle hotel room. He liked to know the answer. However, there was no one present to answer it.
Nevertheless, Harry recognized that he was still living on the earth. It was a relief for him.
Maybe he could get some information once he visits outside.
Harry abruptly felt that his head was full of information. After getting rid of the pain, he could finally comprehend those things.
That information is like the memory of a person. It was like he saw a muggle autobiography movie. Unlike the film, he was reliving those moments and understanding those emotions.
He could first grasp that this memory belongs to Henry Gamp. The name Gamp looks familiar to Harry Potter. Yet, he could not remember where he heard it.
This fellow Henry Gamp was an orphan, just like Harry. He lost his parents at six because of dragon pox.
Sadly, he had no one as kin in that world after their death. He was living with his parents in Australia. Nine years have passed since Henry's parent's death.
Henry Gamp learned some magic himself but, he could not attend any magic schools because he did not have enough money.
Henry was struggling to survive in the past nine years in Australia. His parents once told him that they were originally from the UK, and they still have some distant relatives there.
For the last nine years, Henry had been brooding about coming to the UK. However, he was too young at 6 to do that. Besides, the boy did not have any money. He saved some money little by little in the last nine years.
Finally, after nine years of hard savings, he could come to the UK by himself. Embarrassingly, he had to choose a muggle plane to go here. He couldn't afford a long-distance intercontinental port key; it was too expensive for him.
Everything in the wizarding world was expensive, even in the UK. In comparison, the muggle hotel was cheaper than staying places in Diagon Alley. Thus, he rented a muggle hotel room, which was near Diagon Alley.
Harry suddenly had a bad feeling. The hotel room was very familiar to him in the boy's memory, since he was lived in similar hotel rooms.
Harry suddenly thought something and went to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror.
His suspicion became a reality when he saw an unknown face in the mirror staring at him. That face did not belong to Harry Potter; it was the face of Henry Gamp.
Harry Potter survived the killing curse again, but he lost his face this time. It was a big identity crisis for him.
He was now living in the body of another boy. Nonetheless, the boy's life experiences were also feeling like his own.
If Harry had to make a hypothesis, two words came into his mind: soul mixing.
Harry now could make a theory about what might have transpired to him.
It seemed like after getting a killing curse from Tom, his soul, not his body, went to another place.
After that, his soul entered the body of Henry Gamp. Then, his and Henry Gamp's souls get mixed. That could explain why he was seeing the memory of Henry Gamp.
Harry took a deep breath; he told himself not to panic. He again went to the memory of Henry Gamp to get a detailed look.
It took three hours for Harry to end Henry Gamp's memory probe. Of course, he could not scan Gamp's entire memory, but he learned some more significant facts.
Those facts shook Harry. He learned that Henry was born in 1958. So Henry was 15 years old at present. That meant Gamp came to the UK in 1973.
When Harry was combating Tom, it was the year 1998. That meant Harry went back to 25 years in the past. Harry not only has a new body but also lives in the past.
In 1973, his parents were third-year students at Hogwarts. His friends were not born. The wizarding world was peaceful, as there was no war yet.
Harry now started to ponder about his options. He now had to live with another identity. That Henry Gamp was an orphan like him. He did not have any capital. Gamp might have some distant relatives in the UK, but he did not know them at all. He had little cash with himself. Overall, Henry Gamp was a poor orphan wizarding boy.
Harry decided to go outside in the morning. First, he wanted to see the UK of 1973. Second, Harry was planning to go to Gringotts for an inheritance test. He wanted to know about the roots of Henry Gamp in the UK.
After checking out the muggle hotel in the morning, he went directly to Diagon Alley. After having the cheapest breakfast in Leaky Cauldron. He asked Tom of Leaky Cauldron for the newspaper.
Henry Gamp was an immigrant from Australia, so he did not know anything about the current affairs of the wizarding UK.
However, Harry got shocked when he read the newspaper. No, he did not get any shock from reading headlines. The wizarding UK was peaceful and dull at that time.
He was shocked after knowing that the Daily Prophet did not exist in that world. Daily Merlin was the most popular paper in that world.
Harry knew that there was no Daily Merlin in his homeworld. That meant he not only went back to 25 years with a different body. He now came to a parallel universe!
" Why it was always me?" Harry again asked while looking at the sky.
