Zer0: (Sees video) Ah, yes! The longest whataboutism I have ever seen.
Bio: That just radiates cringe.
Zer0: Well, let's not dwell on it too long, back to the story: The grand finale is here (Bio: Sorta)! A year ago I had the wonderful idea of creating a singular story for Star Wars, but with Bio, we had the idea of recreating the entire Trilogy….In some form.
Bio: Yep. I hopped aboard as an extra set of eyes to ensure this was a story of top quality. And with the storyboard we've made, I'd say it's pretty close.
Zer0: Whether it is up to you guys as well. We will continue to improve as this story progresses, introducing new characters (Or old, I guess from a fan's perspective), growth building, and three major parts of the story: Beginning, Middle, End. And the end began in chapter seven. Bio and I started this journey, let's set off the end. Before that, review time!
MartintheDragon: Yeah, I am glad you enjoyed that chapter. Bio and I enjoyed writing it, especially Kylo. Lol, I am glad we got that level of depression with the story. Yes, Finn and pretty much everyone will be on the shitlist. Yeah, Kylo has an interesting philosophy, and we will go much more into it….Later. Yeah, don't worry Bio and I have a plan for Holdo. (Bio: Her role is relatively minor, nothing too fancy) Oho, if you like Rey now, it only gets better, you can thank Bio for that backstory. (Bio: Took a bit of fleshing out, but Zer0 eventually agreed with my vision for her backstory, which I feel you guys might enjoy)
Bladewolf101: Well yes….But actually no.
Hero of the Multiverse: Thanks. Yeah I was waiting for that and I couldn't help myself. This will most likely be a running gag, not every chapter, but every once in a while.
Gwb620: Thank you. Well technically, I did mention her family, but never their names. It was meant as a big reveal…..I'll get to that later.
SPARTAN-626: Thanks Spartan, I am glad you like them. Bio and I work really hard for the characters to work together with each other for example: Damien and Rhasar, Damien and Rey, etc, etc. Hell just the moment with Rey and Arthon was one of my favorite moments to write in the last chapter. (Bio: The chance to take a glimpse into the tortured soul of Arthon was a good moment for character development and flaw highlights) That last line was just thrown in there, mostly because I didn't want to end it with Kylo walking away, and it seemed fitting with our theme, one of many at least.
SupremeSongLeader: Huzzah! We live! (Stomp Stomp) Lol, thanks Supreme, I am glad you are enjoying our story. Tho if you have disagreements, or criticism don't be afraid to say it out loud. We gladly take criticism (So long as it is legit and not a single sentence, I digress.) from everyone in the reviews, Bio and I will always improve on our own but voices from fans never hurt. In the words of Bio: My goals are beyond your understanding. Don't worry, don't you worry, We have a plan for Holdo, you see? Bio and I agree if anything ruined Star Wars, she didn't help fix it. (Bio: She could've been redeemable if she'd just told Poe that they were evacuating to Crait) Hey, Creator may have had bad points, but let's not go and attack the guy (Bio: Yeah, what do you think we are, Disney?). Bio and I debunked his points, he didn't like it and left, we're moving on. It was always planned that Karine and Poe would be best of friends, and it's not because she doesn't need no man, Poe is just not the man. (Bio: I'm sure y'all can guess who her type is...I'm certain Zer0 and I have been leaving signs) Just because we didn't mention a third sibling, is only because we didn't see it necessary, but as you can see, she has an older sibling. Who that is will be revealed…..in due time. Well Finn didn't blow up the ship but we will see. To be honest, this is Bio and I's first big battle, but it won't be our last, and we will try to make it long and epic, but we have certain priorities first.
Canadiangunner11: Well yes, but actually no. I wouldn't call that balance, at least in the ideals of Star Wars. We'll get to that….eventually. (Bio: I know you meant to say Holdo, but given it says Hondo, I agree regardless since that pirate can be a bit of a pain in the ass, I should know, he was hounding me last weekend at Disney on the Millennium Falcon ride) I can only assume you and a few others since most didn't voice it. Well, let's answer those questions. I….I have no idea who the hell that is. I guess Warhammer when I looked it up. I've never been a part of that fandom, nothing against it but maybe someday I will look through the lore.
SaiyatonianSage: Thanks Sage, we appreciate the support. Yeah, I had the idea for Finn's rival being Pyre, and Bio expanded on it. We'll get more into it after the story is done. Well, in our canon the same thing happened with Han. Reasons why? It will be explained in the story and in our Commentary. The fuck is that suppose to mean, lol? Fuck yeah I put Thanos at the end. Like we said before, Kylo will be very different in power compared to his Disney Canon version. I'm glad you enjoy that scene, even hard asses like Arthon can have a soft spot. Don't worry, we got a plan for Holdo, you see. You're all gonna love it, we make sure all the Disney characters have a part to play. Yeah, Finn is another proud achievement Bio and I worked on. I'd say Finn contributed to the story of Star Wars, just episode seven. Oh don't worry, like we said, everything will be explained. If it doesn't, it is meant to be a mystery. Yeah Poe, we'll get more into him after the story is complete. I mean, if that's a badass nobody, I did a pretty good job at him getting his ass kick at almost every turn. I say almost for certain reasons and moments in this story. XD I can't blame you but have just a bit of decency, story comes first. Ass clapping is for stories like A Devil's Justice. Uhh, no comment on that fight. We got some plans, you see, Arthur, we just need more money. All will be answered...eventually.
Zer0: Okay, I believe that is all we got right now, finish with a quick disclaimer.
Bio: We do not own Star Wars. You know the drill by now, so let's just jump right in.
Zer0: Ladies and Gents: Star Wars.
(Millenium Falcon)
"So, how do we intend to get onto the base?" Arthon asked. The group, with the exception of Rey, stood within the cockpit behind Han and Chewie as the ship flew through hyperspace. The group had lost track of time, knowing it was pointless wondering how long they had been. Each and everyone of them knew it was only a matter of minutes, a feeling in their gut, that they would be there soon. Rhasar could tell the group was a bit on edge, even IG was blinking a lot more than usual. Finn had a gaze, a long stare into the nothingness of space, fear perhaps?
"During my time on Starkiller Base, we were each issued a code to access pieces of the facility. Your rank determined how much you were allowed to access. I'd often travel the base with my Commanding Officer, Captain Phasma, so I managed to memorize her code." Finn said. Rhasar nodded.
"You keep mentioning this Phasma. I'm guessing she's a pretty big deal in the First Order." He said. Finn nodded his head.
"She's one of their highest-ranking soldiers. Few could beat her in combat...she took me under her wing. I was her protégé." He said.
"Karine said you tussled with a Stormtrooper in gold armor on D'Qar. What's the deal with that?" Rhasar asked.
"Commander Pyre. We were both cadets and trained together. He chose his path, and I chose mine." Finn said. Rhasar decided to leave it at that, whatever history Finn had with this Pyre character can be saved for another time.
"We will be there in a little bit," Han said, checking a few panels. "How about everyone settle down, relax."
"I am a droid, the word relaxation has no meaning. However, I will take a short power down." IG stated as he hunched over and his eyes turned off, a loud beeping echoing the base as the droid turned off.
"Yes, nothing more relaxing than taking a nap before charging into what may as well be certain death." Arthon growled. Chewie growled in annoyance, making Arthon snort angrily. "There's nothing optimistic about this suicide run."
"Enough. Arguing ain't gonna get us nowhere." Han said, cutting the two behemoths, letting out a groan. Rhasar shook his head before taking his leave, patting Finn on the shoulder. He walked through the ship until he made it to the main hall, where he found Rey, sitting on the table and tapping a few buttons. Her staff and blaster laid on her lap, her eyes staring at the large table before her. Rhasar noticed she must have been looking for something, perhaps to take her mind off the situation they are in. Finally, Rey pressed a button and the table came to life, Rhasar watched the scavenger jump in surprise as several holographic animals appeared on the table growling at each other. Rey had been surprised, she wasn't expecting it to be, since she saw Finn accidentally activate it and was quite curious about what it was. She had never seen these things before and wondered if they were some form of game.
"Dejarik." Rey looked up as the Mandalorian made his way towards her, sitting across from her. "It's a classic one-on-one game. Decent way to practice small strategy." He said.
"How does it work?" Rey asked, Rhasar answered by pressing a button, she watched as one of the beasts moved two steps.
"We take turns moving a piece on our board, see who can take out the other's pieces first. I made my move. Now it's your turn." He gestured for her to make a move. Rey looked at the multitude of buttons in front of her before just randomly pressing one. She watched as the beast moved one spot. Rhasar pressed another button, and Rey watched desperately as Rhasar sent another monster and gobbled hers up.
"You have to think carefully when playing games like this. You can never truly know what your opponent is thinking. That's why it's best to plan for as many outcomes you can think of. Don't settle on just one. Always expect something to change the plan. Improvise, adapt, overcome. Those three words can be the difference between life and death." Rhasar said.
"...I thought we were just playing a game." Rey said, her eyes widening at the Mando.
"Oh, but life is the ultimate game, after all. Except there's no prize for losing." Rhasar said.
"I can see why Damien and you get along." Rey muttered, pressing a button, Rhasar raised an eyebrow under his helm.
"Everything in life works like a game, if you think about it. And with stuff like what we're about to do, those three words are even more important. Who knows what we'll find down there. But we can't just settle on one definitive answer. Expect to find everything and nothing will surprise you." He heard no response from the scavenger, and looked to see her looking down at the table. "You scared, scavenger?" He asked. He received no response and sighed, leaning forward. "Fear is a natural thing to be feeling right now. Everyone feels fear." He said.
"Even you?" Rey asked.
"Even me." Rhasar said. "Even the strongest being in the galaxy is capable of fear. Fear is a natural part of life. Anyone who claims to not feel it lies."
"Is it fear of death?" Rey asked, Rhasar head tilted, as she continued. "Or is it fear of losing someone important to you, Rhasar?" Rhasar said nothing, pressing a button and ending another one of Rey's monsters. "I know I haven't been with you and the others long enough, but I saw you, I wasn't blind. I saw you run as fast as you could, knowing it was futile as they took him away. Both of us felt so weak at that moment, I could feel it, both of us could do nothing as….as he took Damien away." Rhasar said nothing as he lowered his helmet. "I'm afraid, Rhasar, I am afraid of everything…..but most of all, I am afraid of losing him. I am afraid of losing what I consider my closest friend I will ever have. Do…do you feel the same thing?
"...Fear is what led to my exile." Rhasar said. "I lost someone I treasured more than anything in the galaxy, and in the sea of grief, my fear took control and I made some decisions the clan didn't agree with. Because I let my fear dictate my actions, they kicked me off the planet, and threatened to kill me if I ever returned." He said. "They told me it wasn't my fault she died, but I don't agree. Because I was weak, someone I cared for paid the price...well, not anymore." He said. "I refuse to be in such a position again. I'm not gonna let anyone else die because I couldn't do anything." The room was silent, the others talked in the cockpit as they sat across from each other. Rey noticed Rhasar's hand resting on his knee, balling into a fist of anger and had he not worn any gloves he would be drawing blood. She decided to change the subject, and thought of Damien. A thought crossed her mind, wondering how this deadly Bounty Hunter came to be with the optimistic smuggler.
"How…..How did you and Damien first meet?"
"Heh...I was actually hired to kill him about...two years ago." Rhasar said. "Client claimed he and his crew had 'skipped out on a payment they owed him' or something. I don't remember. What I do remember is cornering Damien inside a weapons shop and he had the nerve to challenge me to a duel. Even tried to talk me out of the job."
"That certainly sounds like him." Rey giggled, Rhasar let out a small chuckle.
"Of course, I'm not one to just abandon a job, so I pressed onward. He couldn't fight to save his life. It was honestly kinda disappointing how easy it was taking him on. Though it turned out I wasn't the only person looking for him." Rhasar said. "This client had the audacity to hire other hunters to search for Damien and his crew. Offered the reward to whoever brought him in first. And seeing as I currently had him…" Rhasar held up one of his hands, shaping his fingers like a blaster to his head. "On our way back to my ship, we were attacked by bounty hunters. It was the first time I saw him use the Force." Rhasar said. "It was...breathtaking, in a way. I remember the stories my people told of the Jedi. How we once were enemies, but it was a sight to see." Rhasar noticed how Rey leaned in her seat, anticipation on her face as he told her his story. He sighed. "Even after we beat them, I still had a job to uphold. So I continued the plan, but then my ship was shot down. It was a long way back, and on the way, we were attacked by a Krayt Dragon." Rhasar said. Rey's eyes widened at the mention of the beast, she had never seen one, but she had seen the skull Rhasar had on their old ship and that was the head alone. "I got a few shots in, but eventually, I took a hit in the back, and blacked out." Rhasar then reached a hand behind his back and rubbed it, as if relieving a phantom pain he had in that area. "Thought that was it. But then I woke up later, with a fire, and Damien standing nearby."
"He saved you." Rey stated, Rhasar nodded.
"I don't know how he did it. Likely the Force, but the Krayt Dragon was gone, and we were both still alive." Rhasar said. "He could've taken my helmet and bashed my skull in. Could've grabbed my blaster and shot me. He could've just left me to die in that desert...but he didn't. And when I asked him why, he gave me a simple answer."
"What was it?" Rey asked.
"'It would be wrong to leave a good man who risked his life for me dead in a place where no one would remember him.'" Rhasar said. "At first, I thought that was a threat, like he was gonna kill me later. But...that was just Damien being...Damien. He's not the smartest kid out there, and sometimes, his head spends too much time in the clouds. But I gotta admit, it's a nice breath of fresh air, seeing someone so optimistic in a galaxy full of hate, fear, and death." He said. Rey smiled as Rhasar seemed to relax, looking down at her hands.
"I have been alone, for a very long time. Longer than I wish to remember." Rhasar looked up at Rey, the scavenger staring at her hands. "I don't know why they left me, on Jakku of all places, promising me they will return. For years I was there, there was no one else I could be with…..then Damien came along. All of you swept me off that dust bowl of a planet and onto the craziest and most dangerous chase I have been in. I've nearly been shot a dozen times, Almost eaten by Arthon, chased by giant tentacles monsters, and was in the face of possibly the most evil man in the Galaxy." Rey listed down all the chaotic events that had just transpired over the past week, and yet her smile never faltered. "And…..and yet I do not regret every single moment of it. I have done more things this past week than I did my entire life on Jakku. I know the danger I am in, but I don't care, for all he has done for me, I will rescue Damien." Rey said, looking up at Rhasar. "And I know you feel the same way." Before Rhasar could speak, Han's voice echoed across the hall.
"Get ready! We're about to exit Hyperspace." Rey stood up and walked past Rhasar, who quickly turned off the game and stood up. He turned around and saw Rey smiling at him, because deep down he did agree with her. Both made their way into the cockpit as Han and Chewie prepared to exit hyperspace.
"Everyone get ready we are exiting in three…..two….Here we go." Han said as the stars slowly appeared and the group eyes widened in shock at the sight before them.
"Starkiller Base." Rey muttered, she knew Finn had shown them a schematic of it, but just seeing the massive planet-sized weapon was another thing entirely. Finn also had to admit, seeing the weapon completely active was a frightening sight. The large white sphere with a large red gaping eye staring back at them. Han looked back at the group, IG powered back on as the droid too stared at the malevolent world, noticing everyone was still on edge. Han knew how that felt, this was not the first time he was heading towards a large space station, but deep down he did have that unease everyone else felt. He didn't have time to be afraid, Leia was counting on him, he needed to find him, he needed to find Damien, he needed to find his son.
"Alright, let's head in." Han said, flying the ship towards the base. "Let's all relax and….fly casual."
"I don't think flying and casual should be used in the same sentence." Rhasar said.
"There!" Finn said, pointing towards the shield gate. It was a station that was projecting a massive shield that covered the entire station. If they were to give the Resistance a chance at destroying the base, they'd have to take down that shield. "That's our way in." He said. Han nodded, piloting the ship towards the gate. Once they were close, Finn reached forward and started typing in an entry code.
"How do you know the entry code?" Rey asked, Finn finishing entering the code.
"It's one of Phasma's older codes. I've seen her use it before." He said.
"How do you know she hasn't changed it?" Rhasar asked.
"I don't." Finn said simply.
"So we might die because of an old code...wonderful." Arthon said.
"When I am terminated, I will be thankful knowing you will be joining me soon, Trandoshan." IG stated, making Arthon snarl at the droid. Han shushed them all as they all waited patiently for what was to come. Suddenly, the shield gates opened up, allowing them passage, Chewie giving a roar of happiness.
"Well it looks like things are turning around for us." Han said, flying through the gate.
"That was the easy part." Finn said.
"What is the hard part?" Rey asked.
"Not getting shot." Finn responded. Suddenly the alarms went off, Han noticed on the monitor two TIE Fighters flying towards them. "Every ship that passes through the shield gate is immediately scanned and put through our databases. If it isn't scheduled for arrival or First Order issue, it's shot down by a squad of TIEs." Finn said. Han immediately shot forward towards the land below.
"You tell us this NOW?" Rhasar asked.
"To be honest, I didn't think we'd get past the gate."
"Guns?" Rhasar asked Han, already backing towards the cockpit exit. However, an explosion shook the ship sending Rhasar against the wall and everyone nearly out of their seats. Alarms blared as Han noticed the engines were shot.
"Too late for that, everyone hold on!" Han exclaimed as the ship powered off and was falling towards the earth. Chewie made an angry roar as Han pulled on the lever.
"I AM PULLING UP!" The ship roared as they descended towards the snow. Han pulled as hard as he could, the ship slowly pulled up. With a loud BOOM the ship slid across the snow, metal ripped and the earth broke apart as the Falcon slowly slid to a stop, yards away from a cliff. Han took a deep sigh of relief and leaned back in his chair.
"Everyone alright?" Both Chewie and Han turned around to find everyone in uncomfortable spots. Rey was slammed into the back of Han's chair rubbing her head in pain, Finn was holding onto his seat with wide eyes, Arthon was on the floor with IG laying right next to him, and Rhasar was leaning on Rey's for support shaking his head.
"No." Rey mumbled.
"Get off me!" Arthon said, pushing IG to the side.
"How the hell are you a pilot?" Finn asked.
"You're awfully snappy for a soldier." Solo retorted.
"That was the worst landing I've ever seen. Ever. Of all time." Rhasar said.
"My systems are in minor need of re-!"
"Great, let's get moving." Han said, everyone slowly leaving the cockpit. It took a few minutes, the Falcon's legs slowly lifting the ship and the landing pad. Han walked out with his old snow gear, Rhasar followed after with his cloak wrapped around his neck and over his shoulder. Rey wore Leia's old Hoth gear, Finn zipped up his coat, rubbing his arms, and Arthon wore a coat around his shoulders.
"I hate the cold." Arthon muttered. Chewie placed a hand against the ship and let out an annoyed growl, Han shaking his head.
"Chewie said he's gonna stay behind and get the ship fixed." Han explained, Rhasar handing Rey a case of explosives, when IG steps forward.
"I shall stay and aid the Wookiee, it shall be quicker to fix the ship with more helping hands." IG stated, handing Arthon a case of explosives. "Good luck, save the puny fleshbag captain, and do not die."
"Whatever, scrap bucket." Arthon said. With that the group were on their way, hoping to find Damien and get off this planet size deathtrap.
(Starkiller Base)
"Lord Ren, we could not locate him." A First Order Officer reported, Kylo looked over his shoulder after watching a dozen soldiers march below him. It has been a few hours after Damien left the hangar and Kylo had been searching for him since. He sensed him, he was elusive, Kylo will give him that. It is only a matter of time. "He was not in the eastern quadrant of the base. All troops are on high alert, and all hangars are on lockdown."
"Excellent. It's only a matter of time before-" Kylo head jerked in the opposite direction, his eyes narrowed behind the helmet as he sensed it. It was faint, but he sensed an all to familiar presence, one he hasn't sensed in years.
"Han Solo."
"Sir?" Kylo turned back to the officer.
"I want a squadron with me at the west quadrant of the base." Kylo ordered, leaving the officer without answering his question. Kylo sensed it, something big was coming towards Starkiller Base, but he did not care. All he cared about was retrieving Damien and finding Luke, but now…..now he had one last thing to take care of. One of the last chains, a chain he must sever.
(Starkiller Base)
Finn led the group through the frozen tundra, one of the many perks of the First Order controlling this world was that there were no predators. The downside was the constant hiding from Security droids and AT-ST patrols. They crossed over a ridge and hid behind a radio tower, Finn pointed towards a large structure a few miles from where they stood.
"We need to get past those patrols, then we'll head through one of the security doors." Finn said.
"What the hell was your job on this base, anyway? Security?" Rhasar asked.
"No. I was training to be a Sith Trooper." Finn said.
"Were you one?" Rhasar asked.
"No. I was a squadron leader. I would've become one had I not...failed an important mission." Finn said. Rhasar made note if Finn wasn't brainwashed as they have been known to do, he must have been held in a very high respect if he still kept his free will.
"I never thought planets could be this cold." Rey muttered, rubbing her arms. "Maybe Jakku wasn't such a bad place afterall. I can't feel my hands."
"You get used to it in time, scavenger." Rhasar said.
"Easy for you to say wearing full armor and gloves." Rey muttered.
"I wonder whose fault it is that you didn't think the same way?" Rhasar retorted.
"Alright, everyone focus." Han stated, stepping towards Finn. "Alright kid, what's the plan?"
"We gotta shut off the shield gate. Otherwise, the Resistance won't be able to get in, and they'll be blasted into oblivion instantly." Finn said.
"I mean, how do we shut off the shield gate?" Han said.
"I don't know. I've never been to that area of the base." Finn said.
"Then we should find someone who has." Rhasar said.
"And how do you suppose we do that?" Han asked.
"Oh, I know!" Everyone turned to Rey. "We can use the Force!"
"That's not how the Force works!" Rhasar said.
"How would you know how it works?" Rey retorted.
"I don't know HOW it works, but I've seen enough to know that's not it!" Rhasar said.
"Can we continue this after we get inside?" Arthon growled.
"Right, let's move." Han ordered, Finn leading the way. After what seemed like an eternity they made it to one of the security doors. Finn entered an entry code and the doors slid open, standing between them and the base was a singular Stormtrooper.
"Hey!" The Stormtrooper grunted, before he was picked up by Arthon, and thrown across the hall and into a door, knocking him out. Once the group entered the base and discarded their snow gear, Rhasar picked up the stormtrooper's blaster and handed it to Rey, while Finn grabbed the troopers stun baton.
"Remember. Safety's off, so don't shoot at us." He said.
"And don't aim with the wrong eye." Rey added, making Rhasar chuckle.
"Alright, the sooner we find Damien the quicker we can get out. The longer we're here, the less luck we're gonna have." Han said, tossing his coat aside. "Someone needs to know how to deactivate the shields."
"I have an idea." Finn said, pointing towards something, the others following suit.
Officer Mitaka brushed his suit off for any dust or dirt, quickly moving down the hall as elegantly as he could. Today was the big day that the Republic fell, and he was on his way for a promotion, meeting with a higher up in the northern quadrant. Oh it was such a perfect day, and nothing could ruin it. Mitaka stopped in his tracks seeing an unconscious stormtrooper on the ground.
"Wh-!" Mitaka gasped as he was picked up two feet in the air and slammed against the wall. His eyes widened coming face to face with a Trandoshan? His eyes widening realize it was the same one the First Order was after. With him was a dark skinned man, an older man, a Mandalorian, and a girl.
"The codes to the shield gate. What are they?" Finn asked.
"I-I don't know, I'm just an officer!" Mitaka fumbled as Arthon held him by his shoulders.
"Bad idea to lie in front of a guy who can tear your throat out with his bare hands." Rhasar said.
"And I know the smell of a liar!" Arthon snarled. Finn noticed the rank on the officer's chest, reaching for it and pulling it off Mitaka's chest.
"Oh, he knows. This rank gives him access to most of the facility, including the control room for the shield gate, most likely." Finn said. Mitaka started sweating profusely as Arthon snarled at him.
"A-Alright! I….I'll bring you to them." Mitaka said, Arthon lowering him down, but keeping a tight grip on his shoulder. "But you won't get far, it will only be a matter of time before the First Order knows you are here!"
"Let them know. It'll only be a matter of time till they find out you betrayed them and became the meal of a Trandoshan." Finn said. Mitaka's eyes widened and turned to the Trandoshan, who licked his lips and let out a small chuckle while baring his teeth.
"Arthon wouldn't actually eat him….right?" Rey whispered to Rhasar.
"In all my time with him, I haven't seen it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he made an exception with the First Order." He said.
"Come on." Han said, Arthon dragging Mitaka along as he silently and begrudgingly guided them to the control room. Oh, this day could not get any worse.
(Starkiller Base)
Damien peered around a corner, seeing no sign of Kylo and watched a squad of stormtroopers leave the hall. He quickly ran through the hall and down a corridor. He had passed through several hangars and all of them closed off, no doubt under orders of Kylo. He used the Force to unlock the door and came to another hangar, and just as he shut tight.
"Ugh…" Damien groaned in annoyance as he leaned on the wall for support. He needed a way out, but how? He admitted he couldn't fly as great as Karine or anyone on the ship but he knew some of the more basic controls of an X-Wing and even the Crimson Goddess. He quickly started running down the hall and took a right. He just kept running, as fast as he could. He knew it was stupid, idiotic but he had no choice. Kylo was searching for him and it was only a matter of time before he found him.
FWOOM
Damien stopped in his tracks, a sudden feeling filling his very core. He turned around expecting Kylo, but found no one. He looked in all directions but saw no sign of Kylo, it's when he stopped and took a moment to feel this presence. It was….calm, light even, it was a feeling he didn't feel….until.
"Rey." Damien muttered, looking down a corridor. He felt her, the same feeling he felt just like on Jakku. He started slowly walking towards it, only to stop when he heard a door open up. He turned around expecting Rey, only for his eyes to widen seeing about a dozen stormtroopers march in his direction, stopping upon seeing him. The silence within the hallway was awkward, even the small black droid didn't unease the tension.
"Uh oh."
(Starkiller Base)
FWOOM
Rey stopped in her tracks as she felt something, a feeling tug at her chest. Looking down the hall, she felt a presence calling her. It was not cold like Kylo, but it was something she hasn't felt in a while, a very familiar presence.
"D-!"
"Come on, scavenger, we gotta go!" Rhasar said, placing a hand on her shoulder making her jump. Rey shook her head and nodded in agreement, looking back as Rhasar guided her into the control room and walked over two dead stormtroopers. Finn and Arthon had Mitaka at gunpoint as he started typing away at the control panel. He knew he should activate the alarms, but one false move and they would blast him, and he was not willing to die today.
"Best hurry up, flesh bag. Your fear is making your flesh...extra delightful." Arthon hissed. Mitaka whimpered, Finn lowered his blaster turning to Han as the others walked into the room.
"Once they take out the oscillator, we've only got twenty minutes before this base goes. I don't know how much time we have to find Damien." Finn said.
"We came here to get him, that's what we're gonna do." Rhasar said.
"I'm not saying we leave him, but we don't know where he is, and if he managed to escape, who knows how far Kylo Ren is on his trail." Finn said.
"Don't worry, kid." Han said, placing a hand on Rhasar. "We're not leaving without him." Suddenly a loud boom followed and the group turned to see the projection of Starkiller turn red to blue, signifying that the shield was down. Mitaka stood back up and tried to keep his cool, even as the Trandoshan was holding his shoulder and a blaster to his head.
"You won't get away with this! The First Order will already be aware of the shield deactivating and they will send every Stormtrooper on this base to kill you!"
"Spare me the threats, flesh bag." Arthon said, beginning to pull the trigger.
"WAIT!" Mitaka cried, holding his hands up. "You were talking about someone named Damien?! I don't know who that is, but Lord Ren has ordered all troops to be alert for an escaped prisoner!" Before Mitaka could blink, the Mandalorian was already upon him, vibro-knife in hand and inches from his neck.
"Where? Talk fast, before I drag this to the walls." He said, inching the blade closer to his neck.
"I-I don't know now, but reports stated he was last seen in the northern quadrant!" Mitaka cried, Rhasar pulled the knife back turning to Han.
"I guess that's where we start." Rhasar said. He then looked at Mitaka. "What do we do with him?"
"Can't have him blabbering to the base." Han said, turning to Finn. "You know where a garbage chute is, maybe a trash compactor?" Mitaka's eyes turned to mere dots, while Finn merely smirked, getting the idea.
"Yeah. I know where you can find one." He said.
(D'Qar)
"Senator Organa!" Leia turned to a Resistance officer, sitting near one of the monitors, looking at her. "The shields are down!"
"Thank the Maker!" C-3PO exclaimed in happiness, Leia sighed in relief as officers ran around her.
"Han did it, Ackbar, send them in." Ackbar nodded and activated a comm.
"Dameron, you are given full clear. Good luck, and May the Force be with you all." Ackbar said, ending the comm. Above D'Qar's atmosphere, over three dozen X-Wings, Y-Wings, and K-Wings hovered in space with Poe in the lead. Karine floated beside him, and the Twi-Lek couldn't be more nervous now. This is it, the battle to stop Starkiller Base, her first actual space battle. She rubbed her hands together, mainly to get rid of the sweat on them, and regained her controls. She had no droid to support her, mainly because there were only two droids she ever trusted in her life, and one of them was sadly gone. The other was too big to fit in the spot, and she hoped he was alright.
"Copy that, base." Poe said. "You ready for this, Karine?" He asked. He received no answer, looking over to his side, seeing the Twi'lek was fidgeting with one of her tails. "Hey, you got this. Just stick with me and we'll all come out of this." He said. Karine looked over at the pilot, even from this distant she could tell he was giving her a reassuring smile.
"Thanks, Dameron." Karine said, taking a deep intake of air before exhaling, taking hold of the controls. "On your command." Poe nodded, and went back to his controls.
"Alright, everyone. Prepare to jump to hyperspace. Next stop, the Ilum system. Hit them fast and hard, expect heavy resistance." He said. With that the X-Wing engines roared with life, Poe giving Karine a thumbs up before entering Lightspeed, Karine following right after him.
"Rhasar….Damien….please come back."
(Starkiller Base)
Hux watched with silent glee as the weapon charged, only thirty minutes before it was ready to fire. Thirty minutes before the last of the Resistance was destroyed, he remained impassive about the whole ordeal, being a prime example of what an officer should be. Should he destroy the Resistance, this will put him in good graces with the Supreme Leader. He was already the Supreme General of the First Order thanks to his superior mind, but some part of him wanted more, to be above all and beside his leader. Sadly that belonged to the brat Kylo Ren, he could not deny the man was powerful, but he was a child with an over abuse of power. He will bind his time, a time will come when he will be the right hand of the Supreme Leader, sooner or later.
"General Hux." Hux looked over his shoulder to see Tierny marching towards him, a pad in hand. "Officers reported the prisoner has been seen in the northern sector, a squad is in hot pursuit."
"What of Ren?" Hux asked, wondering why the Dark Lord wasn't hot on this prisoner trail.
"Lord Ren has been reported to be in the western sector, heading towards the crash site of one reported Millennium Falcon." Tierny said, handing Hux her pad, the General inspecting the hologram of General Solo's prized ship. When the alarm of an unknown ship that passed the shields, seconds afterwards it was shot down. From the camera reports it was Solo and a band of Resistance soldiers, one he didn't care to know who. Even with the shields now down, and he summarized that the Resistance will be arriving, but it is futile.
"And Solo?" Hux asked.
"Within the control room to the Shield Generator." Tierny stated. Hux rubbed his chin, now with the shield generator down, the skies will be roaring soon. His main focus will be however focused on the charging of the weapon. He knew, however, that Solo and his team of fighters will be a problem if kept alive. He noticed in Tierny's reports that one of the members was the traitor FN-2187.
"Captain Phasma, Commander Pyre." Both high rankings stormtroopers stepped forward and saluted the General. "Head down and intercept Solo, the traitor FN-2187, and the resistances. If you find the prisoner, bring him alive."
"What of FN-2187?" Pyre asked. Hux looked over his shoulder, staring straight through Pyre's visor with an emotionless expression.
"...Eliminate Solo and the Resistance." Hux ordered.
"It will be done, General." Phasma said, turning her back and leaving. Pyre stood where he was for a few seconds before saluting Hux and following after Phasma.
"Tierny." Said officer turned to Hux, the General handing her pad back. "Prepare the TIE Fighters for the inevitable arrival of the Resistance." Tierny nodded, as he turned back to the charging doomsday weapon. Only a matter of time.
(Starkiller Base)
"Here is the plasma torch." IG stated, handing Chewbacca the torch. The two were just about finished fixing the Falcon, luckily it did not suffer too much damage. They just had to fix up what was damaged, and make sure the Falcon was ready for a quick getaway. Chewie roared in appreciation before activating it and melted the metal back together. IG stared out at the frozen wasteland around them, his receptors picking up a loud thunderous noise out beyond the mountains. His scanners detected a large unknown power source building beneath the surface, he did not know what this was as there was no data about it. Something about it was strange, and being a droid, the strange could not be explained and it in the sense 'irked' him. As a droid he had no understanding of this ideal of 'Force' as it was something he couldn't fully understand.
He was designed to kill, kill things that were understandable, but the Force. That was something that must have an explanation, it had to be logical. Everything is logical, if there was no logic it would be chaos. Seeing the young flesh bag Damien use this Force, must have been an advanced telepathic power, it was the only logical conclusion. He did not voice his observation as he felt the flesh bag was very emotional about the subject. His 'mind' so to speak raced with different thoughts, wondering if Karine and Dameron would arrive anytime soon. Suddenly, IG's optics widened as it turned out to the frozen tundra.
"We have company. One squad of Stormtroopers, and a squad of Security Droids." Chewbacca growled in frustration before jumping off the ship and heading inside to get some blasters. IG watched as the six Stormtroopers in snow gear along with an equal number of droids marched towards them. Chewbacca walked back outside with his Bowcaster and a blaster for IG, handing the droid the weapon before they opened fire.
"Shoot to kill, shoot to kill!" A stormtrooper, IG observed as the squad leader, ordered as the stormtroopers took cover as the droids continued their march. Chewie mainly focused on the troopers because they could fire back, IG however focused on the droids and saw they did not have weapons.
"Submit your blasters, surrender and you shall have a painless shutdown." A droid stated. IG simply tilted his head, and found the order very stupid. He looked at his blaster, then back at the droids before simply tossing the blaster away.
"I am not programmed to surrender, I am programmed to follow Karine's orders. So long as I stay online, I will follow her orders." IG stated, walking towards the security droids. He pulled his fist back, a small jet boost in the elbow, one that Karine installed during his reprogramming activated. The fist went flying into one of the security droid heads, knocking it clean off, before IG kicked another droid into another one. Chewie roared before firing a blast, killing two stormtroopers.
IG continued his fight, grabbing two droids and smashing their heads against each other, making sparks fly and temporarily evening the fight. Two droids however tackled IG and started punching him in his chassis plate. He felt several dents in his right side, but he paid it no mind as he grabbed one and wrapped his right limb around it's head. He pulled as hard as he could, the droid's head went flying off his shoulder as oil sprayed him in the face. IG grabbed the other one by it's limbs and planted his foot against its chest and with a mighty tug ripped its arms off.
IG stood back up, tossing the limbs aside, before being grabbed by the last three. One grabbed his arm and held tightly enough to crush his right hand. IG was designed not to register pain, but that did not mean it didn't feel it's limb become useless. The last two started prying at his chest plate, bending metal. IG tried to fight back but felt it's limbs start to be pulled apart. The last thing it showed was Karine, his creator. Suddenly one of the droids was blasted in the back, sent flying and destroyed. IG used his free hand and grabbed the second one before bashing his head against it multiple times, denting the droids face until it was no longer a face. The last droid tried to punch IG only to be blasted by Chewie. IG let the last droid go as he studied the area and saw all stormtroopers were dead, turning to Chewie.
"I appreciate the assistance, Wookiee." Chewie let out a roar, nodding his head in respect. IG stared at his hand, Chewie growled out in concern. "My limb can be easily fixed, I simply require assistance. However, I suggest we find the others. The ship is fixed, and it is only a matter of time before they are found, if not already and need support." Chewie roared in agreement, the two making their way towards the base at an almost walking speed. The Wookiee was at IG's side, helping the droid fix his limb.
(Starkiller Base)
"NO! PLEASE NO!" Mitaka cried, before screaming as Arthon threw him down the trash chute. After they disabled the shields, the group left the room in case the Stormtroopers arrived, Arthon chuckling as he closed the chute.
"Is he gonna be alright?" Rey asked, walking beside Arthon as they left the room and joined the others.
"He'll be alright. It's the Dianoga he'll need to worry about." Arthon growled.
"The what?" Rey asked.
"You're better off not asking."
"What do we do now?" Finn asked.
"I'm gonna find Damien." Rhasar said, drawing his blasters in preparation.
"We need to find the oscillator too, as much as I want to save the kid, the Resistance still needs to destroy the oscillator." Han said, looking down the hallway. "Damien is in the northern sector, but the oscillator is east. The Resistance will be here any minute, I think it will be best if we split up." Han suggested, turning to the group. "You find Damien, I'll head to the oscillator."
"Heading off on your own, Solo? Seems a bit dangerous to run around here alone." Arthon said.
"What's the point of life if there ain't a little danger?" Han remarked with a smirk, before reaching for his comms. "Chewie, you read me?" He heard a few growls and roars on the other end. "Alright, we'll wait for them in the east sector." Han said, ending the call. "Chewie and IG met with some security, now heading our way. I'll meet up with them and we'll wait for you, but hurry up. Be careful, and May the Force be with you." Han said, taking his leave down the corridor.
"Will…..will he be alright?" Rey asked, watching the old man leave. She knew she didn't have much with Han, but she could tell he was in pain. A great weight was placed on his shoulders, carried for a very long time.
"He's a tough old man. He'll be fine. But we got our own mission to worry about." Rhasar said. With that the group started making their way towards the northern sector with Finn in the lead. They snuck past several troopers and kept walking until they made it down a long corridor.
"Once we get past this corridor, we'll be in the north sector." Finn said. "However, at this point we're basically in one wild womp rat chase here. Damien could be anywhere."
Rey was about to interject when she felt a tug at her chest, a deep feeling boiled beneath her. It was there again, that feeling she had. It was calling towards the northern sector, towards Damien.
"He's here. Damien is still in the northern sector…..and he is close." Rey reassured, making the three look at her.
"How do you know?" Rhasar asked.
"I…...I don't really know. A feeling, maybe." Rey said.
"A feeling...wonderful." Rhasar muttered, shaking his head. They kept towards the lock doors, only to hear the loud CLICK, the doors slowly opening. Finn's eyes widened in shock as Captain Phasma and Commander Pyre walked through the door, blasters in hand.
"FN-2187." Phasma stated, venom in her voice, as Pyre aimed his blaster at the four. Finn said nothing, while Rhasar got a good look on Phasma. She was quite tall, taller then both him and Finn, wore the same gleam shining armor only silver instead of gold. A cape reached her heels, but what caught his attention was the strange metal stake like weapon at her belt. "You have a lot of nerve showing your face here, after all you have done. And who is this?" Phasma got a good look at the three with the traitor. A girl in dirty rags, most likely a scavenger, with a staff in hand. A large Trandoshan, a rare sight to see nowadays. What really caught her attention was the man leading the group, beskar steel covering his attire and face, brown dusty cape over his shoulder, but she recognized that helmet anywhere.
"A Mandalorian. Been a while since I killed one of you." Phasma said, her blaster aimed at his head.
"Another Stormtrooper. I've killed hundreds of you." Rhasar retorted.
"Rhasar, we can't stay here. We've got to find Damien." Rey whispered, the Mandalorian looking over his shoulder at her.
"Tell that to them." Rhasar said.
"So, you're going to take us in?" Arthon asked. "Don't expect it to be easy."
"...No." Pyre said, surprising the group. "You've made your choice 'Finn', and now you will die for them." Rhasar quickly drew his blaster, firing a shot that ricocheted off Phasma's armor. Phasma and Pyre started firing back as bolts flew everywhere. Arthon grabbed Rey and hid behind a wall, while Rhasar and Finn held their ground ducking under the blasts and firing back. Rey looked around for any escape when she saw the door behind them. Quickly pushing Arthon aside, she started typing on the console, and with a beep the door slid open.
"Rhasar! Finn! Let's go!" Rey yelled over the blasters. Rhasar was about to follow, when he realized if they just ran the two would follow. He grabbed Rey and pushed her through the door, Arthon following suit.
"Keep an eye on her and find Damien! Finn and I will hold them off!" Rhasar said. He aimed his blaster and fired at the console.
"RHA-!" Rey was cut off as the door slammed shut, cutting the four off. Rey stared at the door, her hand pressed against the solid steel. A hand on her shoulder, she turned around to see Arthon give her a reassuring smirk, or something close to one with his mouth.
"They'll be alright. We have to move." He snarled. Rey stared back at the door as blasters echoed, turning back to Rey and nodding her head. The two quickly ran down the hallway and tried to find Damien. Meanwhile, Rhasar watched as the door closed, he knew this would buy them some time to find Damien. Now all they had to do was distract the two commanding officers. He quickly turned around and fired several rounds at Phasma who returned fire. Both grunted in pain as a bolt hit their blasters and flung out of their hands.
Pyre ducked under a shot from Finn before tackling him and pinning him against the wall with Pyre's arm pressed against Finn's throat. Finn grunted in pain before he kneed Pyre in the gut, he slammed his arm against Pyre's, loosening his grip before kicking the gold plated stormtrooper off him. The four stood across from each other, looking at each and everyone in the hall, the only sound was nearby cleaning droids. It seemed everyone had the same idea in mind, no blasters around them, nothing. Rhasar quickly reached for his vibro-knife, Finn pulling out the stun baton, Pyre extended his electro-and Phasma reached for the silver stake, extending into a long spear. The first to charge was Pyre who swung at Finn who blocked it with his baton, pushing against his old comrade. Rhasar swung his knife and sparks flew as Phasma swung her staff. She quickly swung again, this time pushing against Rhasar's knife, the Mandalorian had to admit she was incredibly strong. He felt his boots slide against the floor until he was pressed back against the wall.
"Do you really think we won't find those allies of yours? Once I am done with you, they're next, Mandalorian scum." Phasma growled, Rhasar grunted in annoyance before pulling his arm back as his flamethrower came out. Phasma immediately jumped back dodging the torrent of flames, Rhasar deactivated it and quickly regained a battle stance.
"I think you're a little too sure of yourself. This fight ain't over yet." Rhasar said. Phasma chuckled before charging, Rhasar blocking a swing with his knife. He had to admit Phasma had an advantage with her staff, but so long as she doesn't hit any vitals he will be fine. Rhasar and Phasma clashed steel, Rhasar pulled his head back and slammed it against Phasma but all that did was make the metal spark as they now tried to push the other back.
Finn ducked under a swing from Pyre and swung at his rubs, Pyre growled in pain but thanks to his army he was able to take the damage. He kicked Finn in the gut and swung at him slicing through the wall, sparks flying around them. Finn jumped back from the swing and blocked a strike to his side.
"You could have had it all! You could have had command, respect of legions, why give it all away?!" Pyre growled, elbowing Finn in the chest and pushing him away. Finn glared at Pyre, rubbing his chest.
"Because I refuse to sit back and watch more of us die just because we're seen as expendable!" Finn said.
"And you think the Resistance cares anymore about you than the First Order does? They will forever brand you as a First Order lapdog, no matter how much you try to cover. Nothing more, and so much less." Pyre stated, swinging at Finn. Finn met with the equal force of his baton, electricity flying around them.
"I know." Finn said, gritting his teeth. His eyes hardened. "But I'm done running. As long as I breathe, this station won't fire another shot." He said. He pushed Pyre back and swung, sending Pyre flying into the wall. Pyre used his axe to keep himself up, his chest sizzled from the blow but he remained standing strong.
"You want to fight for these so-called friends?" Pyre growled, looking over his shoulder seeing Rhasar fight Phasma, before turning back to Finn. "Then you can die for them!" Pyre roared as he charged at Finn. He ducked under the baton swing and tripped Finn with the end of his axe, making Finn fall on his back. Pyre placed a boot on Finn's chest keeping him in place, raising his axe high.
"FINN!"
"AAARRRHHH!" Pyre roared in pain as a knife was embedded in his shoulder plate. Finn took the chance and grabbed Pyre's foot and pushed it off him. Rhasar smirked under his helmet before sidestepping an attack from Phasma. Phasma swung again, Rhasar keeping his distance while Finn got back up and reached for the baton. Pyre grunted in pain as he pulled the knife, tossing it aside and charging at Finn and trading blows. Rhasar grunted as Phasma kicked him into the wall, denting it as the Mando slid to the ground. Rhasar looked up and saw the end of the staff inches from his throat.
"Mando Scum." Phasma spat before pulling her spear back. Rhasar quickly reached for his hilt and pulled it out.
BZZ
Phasma eyes widened, as did Pyre's, as Rhasar blocked the attack with the Lightsaber. He took the moment of surprise to stand back up, twirling the lightsaber in hand.
"H-How…..how do you?" Phasma couldn't even form the right words as she stared in awe, speechless as she was seeing another lightsaber, she knew of the Sith that served under the Supreme Leader, but to see one wield by this Mandalorian scum was something else. Rhasar merely smirked under the helmet before swinging the blade, only to be met with pure shock as the blade simply clashed against the steel.
"The hell?"
"I see now, why Hux designed this staff for me." Phasma said, twirling the staff in hand. "This very staff, along with my armor, was made from the armor of a dead beast said to block even a lightsaber. I never thought the legend to be true since Lord Ren had killed this beast, but it seems to hold some truth, how wonderful." Phasma said, pushing her foot back as she took a battle stance. Rhasar merely rolled his neck and took a stance as well. He swung the blade, as did Phasma, swinging their weapons. Phasma spun her staff, Rhasar swinging his blade towards her legs. The captain jumped over the blade only to be met with a right hook from the Mandalorian sending her crashing to the ground. Phasma growled as she quickly stood back up and swung her staff. The hallway echoed as the four warriors fought, lighting up the area.
(Hyperspace)
"Okay, deep breaths, deep breaths, Karine." Karine muttered, inhaling and exhaling as they flew through hyperspace for sometime. The longer they flew, the more anxious she got, and she hated every single moment of it. A beep on the comms from BB made her eye twitch, the droid telling her to just relax.
"It's alright, Karine. Happy thoughts." Poe said.
"Right, happy thoughts." Karine said, taking a deep breath. Suddenly a flashing light appeared on her console, and she knew what that meant.
"Dropping out of lightspeed." A pilot said on the comms, no doubt the ship beside her, as Karine looked over at Poe.
"Just stick with me, and we'll all get through this." Poe said. Karine nodded and started typing away. A large boom echoed in her ears, and her eyes widened at the sight before her.
"Starkiller Base." Karine stated over the comm, everyone was speechless at the sight of the large planet sized base. They had heard the size and power of the first two Death Stars, that this was supposed to be the final weapon of the Empire, and seeing it now took their breath away. Poe had to admit, seeing this up close and personal was a bit unnerving, but he had to focus and quickly take out the weapon.
"Alright, everyone focus. It's just a bigger target: Blue Squad, Blue Squad, take my lead." Poe ordered. Poe led two squads, Karine beside him, as the X-Wings flew into the atmosphere and past the clouds. Karine followed Poe as they took a left turn, other X-Wings splitting up to find other targets, as they flew over a mountain and saw their target.
"Almost in range!" Poe said over the radio. "Hit the target dead center. As many runs as we can get." Poe ordered.
"We're approaching the target, Poe." Karine said over the radio, quickly activating her bombs to be ejected. Karine noticed that there were no TIE Fighters in sight, making her a little worried.
"Alright, let's get ready to scrap this rust bucket!" Poe said. They flew over the oscillator and fired, bombs flew towards the large dome and hit it dead center. Karine could feel the explosion in her knuckles as they flew back up. She could hear the others cheering at the direct hit and she couldn't help but smile too.
"Direct hit!" A pilot cheered over the comms.
"Yeah, but it looks like we didn't even dent the thing." Karine said, as the group turned back she saw they barely made a scratch on the large dome.
"We gotta make another run!" Poe said. "Remember, we only got so much time before that weapon fires again, we gotta hit it with everything we've got!" Karine nodded in agreement, when she picked something up from her scanners. Looking right, her eyes widened at the large armada of TIE Fighters flying towards them.
"Poe! We've got company!" Karine yelled, Poe looked and saw the TIE Fighters.
"Everyone, scatter! Karine, stick with me!" Poe ordered, the X-Wings splitting apart as they opened fire. The sky roared with engines and bolts of energy flew above the ground. Karine stuck close to Poe and fired rounds upon rounds of bolts, shooting down two fighters.
(Starkiller Base)
"General Hux, the Resistance is using all their resources on the Oscillator." Tierny stated, eyes widened as the Resistance K-Wing bombers blasted upon the oscillator. Hux, however, remained impassive as the explosions shook the main command center. She did not understand how the General could remain so calm, it was unnerving if they breached the hull of the oscillator.
"Captain." Hux's voice shook Tierny out of her stupor, turning to the General. "Order the men into the Sarlacc Formation." Hux ordered, Tierny nodded, typing away on the datapad issuing the command to the bridge. "I want those fighters blasted out of the sky, surround them and do not let a single fighter escape. It doesn't matter what firepower they have, this feeble Resistance is no match for the First Order, is that understood Captain?"
"Y-Yes, Sir." Tierny said, watching as Hux observed the sky battle before them. Hux saw no threat in such feeble numbers, he had no doubt they wouldn't be able to pierce the hull of the oscillator, and watch in despair as their hope was going to be destroyed.
(Starkiller Base)
"Come on, scavenger!" Arthon said, running through the hall with Rey following closely behind. It had been a few minutes since they left Rhasar and Finn back to face the two First Order officers. Rey was trying to keep up with Arthon, when suddenly the ground around them shook and explosions echoed above them. Rey stopped in her tracks, Arthon stopping a bit ahead of her, as they looked up and heard the explosions and bolts flying above them. Rey knew exactly what was happening.
"They're here." Rey stated, walking up to the Trandoshan who let out a small growl.
"Well, we don't have much time then." He said. "We've gotta find Damien, then regroup with the others and hope the Wookiee and the droid have fixed the Falcon and leave." He said.
"Right, let's go." Rey said, Arthon taking point as they ran down the hallway. Rey hoped they could find Damien in time, if the Resistance destroyed the oscillator with them still on Starkiller Base, she shuddered at the thought.
FWOOM
Rey stopped in her tracks, the feeling pushing against her chest, as she felt….something. Or someone. Nearby, a certain force wielder stopped in his tracks, Damien looked around as he too felt a familiar feeling. He looked around until he stared down a hallway.
"Rey."
"Stop right there!" Damien's eyes widened, before he bolted down the hallway as three stun blasts zipped past his head. Meanwhile, Rey took deep breaths as she looked over her shoulder and towards a door leading elsewhere.
"Scavenger, we have to move!" Arthon called out, doubling back to where Rey was standing. "What are you looking at?" He asked. Rey fully turned to the door, taking one step and walking towards it. She couldn't explain it, but she felt Damien, he was close.
"Damien….he's this way." Rey said, running down the hall. Arthon watched her leave before running after her.
"How do you even know he's down there?" He asked.
"I don't know! I just feel it!" Rey stated, looking down every corridor for any signs of him, before coming to a stop. She saw there were only two hallways left and he was close, Arthon stopping in his tracks, looking around and letting out an annoyed snarl.
"A feeling that leads to two hallways. Just wonderful." He growled. Suddenly, the two heard the sounds of footsteps hitting the floor, turning around to see their friend turning a hallway.
"Damien!" Rey exclaimed, a smile on her face seeing her first friend once again safe and sound. Damien turned to them with wide eyes, before bolting towards them.
"RUN! TIME TO GO!" Damien exclaimed, grabbing Rey's hand, and bolting down the hallway they came from. Arthon looked back and saw a stormtrooper exit the hallway that Damien came from.
"It's only one Stormtrooper!" Arthon said.
"There they are!" The stormtrooper said, several more exiting the hallway and had their blasters aimed at Arthon.
"That explains it." Arthon muttered. The Trandoshan bolted down the hallway catching up to the two, as the stormtroopers were hot on their tails. The three ran past a door, Arthon turning around and firing at the keypad, the stormtroopers shot at them as the door closed. Damien took a moment to catch his breath, hands on his knees.
"Man, am I glad to see you gu-Oof!" Damien grunted, surprised as two arms wrapped around his neck and pulled him into a hug.
"I….I never thought I would see you again." Rey whispered, Damien cheeks burned before slowly wrapping his arms around her.
"I told you I'd be back." Damien said, chuckling.
"How did you escape? Was it the Force?" Rey asked.
"That, and something….let's just say it wasn't easy." Damien muttered, the cold feeling in the core of his chest. The feeling he felt whenever he sensed Kylo, the Dark side. "How did you find me? Luck?"
"I….I couldn't explain it even if I told you." Rey said, pulling Damien closer. Damien looked and his eyes widened in shock realizing Arthon, who had his arms crossed and a scowl on his face, had come to save him. Damien pulled away from Rey, walking up to Arthon.
"Arthon…..you came to save me?"
"I told you this would be nothing but trouble. Now I have t-!" Arthon was silenced as Damien lunged and wrapped his arms around the Trandoshan, pulling him into a hug.
"Thank you." Damien whispered under his breath. Arthon was in shock, unsure on what to do, and noticed Rey had a very smug smirk on her face, which easily annoyed him.
"Enough." He said, ripping free from Damien's grip. "We can't afford to sit around. One way or another, this base is going up in flames. We have to find Finn and Rhasar and catch up with Solo." He said.
"Right," Damien said, the three started running down the hallway. "I am really glad you all came, but I have to admit I have no idea what is going on! Where are we?"
"Starkiller Base, the First Order's system killer. The Resistance is gonna try and destroy the oscillator while we came to rescue you!" Rey explained.
"The First Order has a system killer? Of course they do." Damien stated, rolling his eyes as the three ran down the hallway.
(Starkiller Base)
Rhasar let out a furious growl, swinging the saber at Phasma who blocked it with her staff. He had to admit, Phasma was the third toughest fighter he had faced in combat, the first being his father, the second his mother. Phasma swung her legs for a low kick knocking Rhasar off his feet, hitting the floor hard, and knocking the lightsaber out of his hand.
"Rhasar!" Finn grunted, watching as the Mando was knocked off his feet. Pyre took the distraction and kneed Finn in the ribs. Taking Finn by surprise, he tackled the traitor to the wall and pushed the handle of his axe against Finn's neck, not enough to choke him but enough to hold him at bay. Rhasar growled in annoyance and tried to reach for his lightsaber, only for a boot to slam on his arm. Rhasar looked back up and saw Phasma staring down at him, staff inches from his neck.
"I must admit, Mandalorian, you are one of the most formidable fighters I have faced. However, in the end, you have failed your mission." Phasma stated, raising her staff high. Suddenly the doors in front of her opened up, Damien and the others sliding to a stop in front of the group.
"By the looks of it, our job is done." Rhasar said.
"Rhasar?!" Damien asked in shock. He saw both his friends in trouble, narrowing his eyes at the two stormtroopers. Extending his hands out, Phasma and Pyre were sent flying from the simple gesture, rolling across the floor.
"What?" Phasma asked in shock, looking up as Damien looked around and saw the door next to them. "He has the force!" With a wave of his hands, Damien moved Phasma and Pyre through the door and closed it. Damien took a deep breath, as did Finn who rubbed his neck from the pressure Pyre put on him.
"You okay, Rhasar?" Damien asked, helping the Mandalorian up.
"I've had worse from training with my family." He said. He looked at Damien, shaking his head. "Despite the mess we're in, it's good to see you again."
"Thank you, for coming to rescue me." Damien said, "You have no idea how much I missed you guys." Damien said, turning to Finn. "And thank you, Finn, for risking your life for mine."
"You risked everything to help me. Only fair I do the same." Finn said. Damien nodded, before turning to Rhasar as the Mandalorian placed a hand on his shoulder. Damien was confused, until he saw the small cylinder in the Mando's hand.
"Is….that?"
"Held onto it for you." Rhasar held it out to Damien, the boy staring at the weapon. "It's for you, Damien." Damien stared at the small cylinder, he was tempted to reach out to it, but no sooner did he try he felt the cold.
Kylo Ren
"I can't." Damien cried, backing away from Rhasar, his eyes still on the weapon. "I can't take it."
"What do you mean you can't take it? Isn't this what you were waiti-?"
"I CAN'T!" Damien yelled, surprising everyone, even Arthon. His eyes glared at the Mando, before looking down at the cylinder. "I…..I just can't."
Rhasar knew there was more to it, but before he could say anything, Arthon cleared his throat.
"We have to leave. I don't think Karine or Dameron are just gonna wait for us to escape before destroying this base."
"Wait, where is Karine?" Damien asked, noticing that the Twi'lek pilot was missing from the group, as the group started running down the hallway.
"She's with the Resistance, engaging the First Order in the skies while we came on ground to get you." Finn explained. It took them some time, but the group made it back to the hallway they first arrived in. Damien saw Han, Chewie, and IG waiting for them by the door as the explosions above got louder.
"Han, it's good to see you." Damien said, as the group made it towards them. However, before Damien could react, Han pulled him into a hug shocking everyone but Chewie.
"Good to see you're alive, kid." Han said, pulling Damien in tightly.
"Is Solo okay?" Rey whispered to Rhasar, unsure on why Han suddenly showed Damien this much affection. Though she had to admit, she felt an air of familiarity between the two….strange.
"Beats me." Rhasar said, before moving forward. "Well, come on, old man. We got a base to blow up." He said.
"Right." Han let go of Damien, dusting himself off. Damien stood there shocked, unsure why Han did that, but at the same time he had felt like this has happened before. He couldn't explain it, rubbing the back of his head instinctively, but he felt like he had seen Han before like the memory suggested.
"It is good to see you alive, Captain." IG stated, slapping Damien's back and making him slam to the ground. "Sorry."
"Let's get moving!" Han said, Rey helping Damien up, as the group ran outside into the cold. "Chewie said they got the Falcon running, but we have no idea how much time we got until they destroy that oscillator and how quick this base is gonna blow."
"Do you think Karine and Poe are gonna be able to pierce the oscillator?" Damien asked as they ran across the tundra.
"Karine's a big girl. She can handle herself." Rhasar said.
(Starkiller Base)
"KRIFF!" Karine cursed as an explosion shook her fighter, but she kept her fighter steady, and fired another round into the oscillator. She looked back and saw that she made a few holes in the base, but like the others around it did not cause any damage. She fired two bolts taking out a fighter, when she heard roaring behind her. Looking back, she saw three TIE fighters, firing bolts that scraped her wings just inches from destroying her wings.
She spun her ship down towards the oscillator as the TIE fighters chased after her. She saw one flying towards her, before it was reduced to molten metal from her shots. She flew through the fire before pulling the handles, spinning around and firing several shots. To her surprise she hit one TIE fighter and flew past the two. They turned around and chased after Karine, firing at the Twi'lek. Karine moved the handle to try and avoid the blasts. She pulled the handles up, somersaulting over the TIE fighters, trying to keep her distance. She looked to her right to see another K-Wing be blasted from the sky.
It was a warzone, the sky roared as fighters flew over the tundra, ships that were shot down tore the icey ground apart. Scores of TIE Fighters surrounded the sky, while land cannons fired proton seekers, and Karine was in the middle of it all. She could hear it over the comms, Resistance fighters giving out commands or calling for support….and here she was. She looked down towards the ground beneath them, hoping that Rhasar and the others were okay. She couldn't bear the thought of destroying this base and they were still on, but what could they do?
This was the first and last assault the Resistance had against the First Order, and it was up to her and these brave fighters. She must admit this feeling was scary, the pressure of having not just saving worlds, but the whole Galaxy. This was something her mother accomplished, mostly due to legendary heroes like Luke and Leia, but now she felt scared. What if they fail? What if she messes up and shoots one of the Resistance fighters down? She never thought of this simply because she wasn't fighting against the Republic but pirates or bounty hunters or other racers. But now she might mess up and cost the entire Galaxy everything.
"Karine!" Karine shook out of her stupor, she felt so stupid, as several shots zipped past her. Quickly, she rolled out of the way of a bolt, shooting down a TIE fighter. Looking around she saw two more TIE fighters shooting at her from behind. Before they could shoot her down, Poe came swooping by and shooting down the two TIE fighters. Poe flew back up to fly right next to her, reaching for his comm.
"You alright, Karine?" Poe asked, firing another shot and destroyed another fighter.
"Y-Yeah….Yeah I'm okay." Karine muttered as they flew past a destroyed TIE fighter. "We haven't made a dent in that damn thing."
"I know, I know. We're gonna need to regroup and make another run. We only have so much time before that weapon is ready." Poe stated. Karine looked down at the large gap that the weapon fired from, she didn't know why but she felt a cold feeling from it. She couldn't quite explain it, and she knew she wasn't the only one, it felt cold.
"Well we better make it quick or we're not gonna last long." Poe nodded before taking off shooting several TIE fighters in the process. Karine looked back on the ground, wondering if they were okay down there.
"Rhasar, Damien, guys…..come back safely."
(D'Qar)
"Admiral Ackbar, Senator Solo, two more X-Wings are down." An officer stated, making Ackbar growl in annoyance.
"We still have enough ships, as long as they can destroy the oscillator, we'll be okay." Leia assured the Admiral as they waited for more reports on the battle, the map showing their fighters fighting above the surface of the base.
"Their weapon is charging, I have calculated that the weapon will be fully charged in ten minutes." C-3PO stated from a nearby console. Leia looked down at the screen, closing her eyes and taking deep breaths, letting the Force flow through her. She sensed them, they were on that base, and she wanted them both back home, with her, with Han.
"Please come back, my son."
(Starkiller Base)
KA-BOOM
The group stopped in their track, a X-Wing crashing near them, watching the air battle above them. Damien and the others could see the damage the oscillator had and by the looks of it wasn't even dented, and X-Wings were getting shot down by the second.
"They're not gonna be able to break it in time!" Arthon said.
"Karine…" Rhasar muttered. Damien stepped forward, hoping Poe and Karine were still up there and would hold out.
"We can't leave them." Damien said, turning to Han. "We have to help them." Han nodded, looking over at Chewie.
"You still got them?" Chewie growled in acknowledgment. "Good thing then, we're gonna need those explosives. Come on, everyone, let's help them out." Han said, the group quickly making their way towards the base, intent on blowing the oscillator from the inside.
(Starkiller Base)
Kylo Ren walked through the snow, his boots digging into the frozen land but it did not slow him down. The sky above him roared as the battle took place, but he had no care for it, for his attention was here. He stopped in front of the ship, a ship Kylo thought he would never see again: the Millenium Falcon. Four stormtroopers stood behind him, waiting for his order, but watched in silent awe as Kylo lowered the landing pad with a simple gesture.
"Search the ship, find anything of value." Kylo ordered, the stormtroopers ran past him and entered the ship. Kylo took his time entering the ship, his mind raced back to when he was little, when he wasn't a slave to a dogmatic light. He ignored his troops as he ran his hand across the wall of the ship, laughter echoed in his mind as he remembered playing seek out the droid with…..with ghosts from his past. He entered the cockpit, resting a hand on the seat, staring out into the frozen wasteland. He remembered a time when he was a student under jedi, or Sith, a time when he wasn't alone. Before he was Kylo, before he was Master of the Knights of Ren, before Snoke, before Luke, before everything. It was just him and…...family. That was before his powers, before his anger, before they were forced into hiding. He remembered the last thing his father said to him….to them.
"Don't worry, kid, I'll be back. You take c-!"
"Lord Ren." Kylo looked over his shoulder, a snowtrooper standing at the entrance to the cockpit. "We have searched the ship and we found nothing of interest. We also just got reports from command, they have spotted the fugitive heading towards the oscilla-!" Before the snowtrooper could finish, Ren was already past him and out the ship. Kylo had found him once again, and this time he would not escape.
(Starkiller Base)
"Alright, Chewie and I will head in and plant the explosives." Han ordered, the group standing at one of the door entrances. "You guys head up above and open the main doors for us, don't wait on us either."
"You think you can handle this alone, old man?" Rhasar asked.
"Once those bombs go off, and the Resistance takes out the oscillator, I doubt all of us will have enough time to get off the base. I'd rather you guys get the kid off first, don't wait on me." Han said, taking off his snow gear. "Besides….I got Chewie." Chewbacca roared in agreement. Damien lowered his head, he hated the idea that someone was risking their life for him once again, and he didn't know if he could do anything about it. Walking past Rhasar, Damien stood in front of Han, giving him a small smile.
"Thank you, Han. None of this would be possible without you." Damien said, Han's eyes widened and for a split second saw a small boy smiling at him, the old man shaking his head before chuckling.
"Don't thank me yet, we still got to get you off this base. Now let's get moving." With that, the group separated with Han and Chewbacca heading into the doors in front of them. Once they entered, they were immediately met with three stormtroopers. Han and Chewie fired several rounds catching the troopers by surprise and sent them flying. Up above, the group entered the base and scanned for any stormtroopers. Once they found none, they entered and headed over to the main console.
"Finn, do you know how to unlock the doors?" Damien asked, the group looking for the right security code or lever.
"Phasma's codes were mostly designed for other sections of the base." Finn said.
"So we can't open the damn door. Great." Arthon growled. As the group talked, Rey went over to the side of the console, and she noticed a hatch that led into the console. Setting her staff down she kneeled down and opened the hatch.
"Maybe we can blast it open." Rhasar suggested.
"The entire base would be on us in minutes." Finn countered.
"You saying they aren't already?" Rhasar asked. Rey looked inside and noticed several ports and wires, and her eyes widened in surprise, recognizing a few.
"I….I know what these are." Rey muttered.
"Maybe Arthon can rip it open?" Damien asked, gesturing to the Trandoshan.
"Maybe you can pull it open with the Force, have you considered that?" Arthon snapped back.
"I think we should ram the Trandoshan's head with it." IG suggested from the corner.
"I know what we can do, guys." Rey said, looking up from her spot.
"Reminds me that we have a perfectly good droid to throw at the Stormtroopers to buy us time." Arthon muttered.
"I KNOW HOW TO OPEN THE DOOR!" Rey exclaimed, everyone turning to look at the scavenger.
"You know how to open the door?" Rhasar asked.
"I recognize some of these parts, it is similar to the ships on Jakku." Rey explained, Damien going to her side as she reached halfway through the opening.
"So you can slice the door?" Arthon asked. They heard Rey grunt, followed by something being ripped out for a couple seconds, and Rey slipped out with several pieces of parts in her arms.
"Hopefully this will open it. I've seen doors open back on Jakku when I pulled these out within those Empire ships." Rey explained, dusting herself off.
"No offense, Rey, but I'm not sure the First Order stuck with every piece of the Empire's design. I'm not sure ripping out a couple wires is gonna open the door." Finn said. The comms came on.
"Good job, the doors are open, we'll meet you back at the Falcon." Han said, the comms breaking up, as Rey let out an excited giggle.
"I guess being a scavenger half your life does pay off." Rey said, smirking triumphantly.
"Great, we opened a door, now let's get the hell out of here." Arthon said. The group agreed and started running towards the door, suddenly Damien stopped inches from the snow. His eyes widened, his breathing became ragged, he felt a chill crawl up his spine. He wasn't the only one, Rey stopped and felt a great tremendous weight on her shoulders.
"What's the hold up, you two? Come on!" Rhasar said. Damien turned his back to them as he looked around frantically, trying to find the source. Whether he wanted it or not, he knew who it was.
"He's here….Kylo Ren is here."
(Starkiller Base)
Han and Chewie slipped through the hallway, escaping the thin prison and entering a large open area. Han scanned the area and saw no stormtrooper, looking over at Chewie who growled in agreement.
"We'll set the charges against every other column. I'll go down, you set up the ones up above." Han said, Chewie growled and handed Han a bag of explosives. "We'll meet back here, and Chewie." The Wookiee looked back at Han, seeing the saddened expression on his face.
"...Let's bring them back home, safe and sound." Chewie knew exactly what Han meant, and growled in his agreement. Han nodded and walked down the stairs to the lower levels, once they both made it to their respective positions they started planting the bombs. Han wiped beads of sweat from his cheek, maybe with luck the Resistance above is making progress. He heard the echoes of a door opening, hiding behind a pillar he saw several stormtroopers storm the area, scanning the room for any sight of him.
"Search the upper levels, find him." Han's eyes widened, watching as he walked in: Kylo Ren. Kylo walked through the room, his hood gone and his helmet scanning the room. He watched Kylo walk past him and towards the walkway that led to the other side of the oscillator through the gap. Han watched him go, his fist shook in anger, with regret. He knew it had come to this, he had no idea when or how but here it was. He needed to do this, so many years he had regretted what he had to do, and what Leia and him had put them through, had put him through. They regretted it everyday and now they paid for the consequences. He needed to make amends, his wife was right, he had to reach out to him. He was not leaving this base without him, without them.
Kylo walked towards the other side of the oscillator, he felt their presence, somewhere within this base. His rage clouded his judgement, he needed to control himself, lest he risk the Dark taking hold. He took a few breaths, feeling the world around him fade...before everything became clear again.
And he saw HIM.
"BEN!" The word echoed across the base, every stormtrooper, wookiee, and dark lord stopped in their tracks. The stormtroopers looked over the rails and saw an unknown target standing at the steps, Chewie let out a worried growl seeing his best friend walking up the steps.
"...Han Solo." He said, not turning to face the man. He already knew he was behind him, and he possessed no true means of beating him, so he saw no need to immediately give his full attention to the man. "This was a day long foretold...our long awaited meeting has come at last." He said.
"Turn around, Ben." Han ordered, walking up the steps. His boots rattled the walkway, taking a careful step. "Turn around and take off that mask."
"...What do you think you'll see?" He asked, almost mocking him. "The student whose master saw him as a lost cause? A lost soul? A reminder of your failures?" Every word added more mockery. And bitterness.
Far above, doors slid open, Damien and the others ran in looking for Han and Chewie. Damien reached over the rails and his eyes widened seeing the old man standing across from Kylo.
"Han." Damien whispered.
"I will see the face of someone I did fail, yes." Han agreed, he had wronged a lot of people, but this one he regretted ever since. "I will see the face of someone I haven't seen in years, that I see in my dreams every night, the face…..of my son."
Kylo stared at Han, the old man couldn't see the emotions on his son's face, his features hidden under the dark helmet. Han saw his son fist tighten, before he slowly reached for his helmet, a hiss echoed across the base. Kylo pulled his helmet off, and for the first time in a long time, Han saw his son again. The last time Han saw his son, the boy held a stoic feature across his face, trying to keep calm at the time. However, seeing him now all he saw was anger and betrayal in his eyes, and he knew it was because of him. Rhasar and the others, save for Damien, were shocked to see Kylo's face. They were expecting many things, scars, burns, but this was not it. Rhasar noticed that Kylo looked very familiar, and looked on his left and his eyes widened.
"You wanted to see me. Here I am...is this what you were expecting? Or did you think you could come in and everything would be fine?" Kylo asked, his eyes narrowing with anger. Han swallowed spit, taking a step forward towards his son. He had to reach out to him, he couldn't be gone, he couldn't be fully taken: Not like Vader.
"Ben, I know this isn't you, I know what Snoke has done to you." Han said, slowly approaching the boy. "He's using you, Ben."
"And Skywalker wasn't?" Kylo retorted. "Don't try to tell me that one side is better than the other. You never lived with that power." He said. Even as the world around them roared, Han was so focused on his son, and he couldn't stop.
"I know, I know I haven't. But, I do know that Luke did care about you, as did your mother. Snoke just wanted you to believe it, Ben. That you were a slave under the Light."
"Who said I ever believed him?" Kylo asked. "It'd be easier for you to believe I was taken under the sway of evil than to admit I chose my path. Power always has a price...and my goals require a hefty price to be paid." Han finally stood in front of his son, he noticed that Kylo did not reach for his saber, most likely because he did not have to.
"Because I can see it, Ben." Han said, reaching forward and placing a hand on his son's shoulder. "You can tell me you regret nothing, but I know deep down there was something you truly regretted. Just as I have, everyday." Han said, his hand reaching up to cup his son's cheek. "I'm sorry Ben, I am sorry that you're mother and I weren't there for the both of you. We tried everything we could to protect you, to protect both of you." Han said. "But now I am here, your mother knows there is good in you, Ben. I know there is, you do too." Kylo stared at his father, a sigh escaping his lips, his eyes looking away from his father.
"It is too late for that, father." Kylo said.
"No, no it's not. Ben, you don't have to be afraid anymore, you don't have to be Snoke's slave. Once he is done with you, Ben, he'll discard you. Discard you….just like Vader." Han said. He remembered how Luke explained it, once he defeated his father, the Emperor was willing without a second glance to discard Vader and take Luke. He won't let that happen to his son.
"You think he has power over me? I give my allegiance to no one. Snoke is merely a means to an end. I won't allow myself to be a puppet of the Force like all the others." Kylo said, almost angry at the last part. He looked around, his features softened, seeing the one he has been searching for. "He's here." He whispered. "You know, you were right about one thing. I've only ever regretted one thing." He said. "Every day, it haunted me...but I can sense him. He was my greatest failure...and now I have a chance to fix it, and no one...not you, not Snoke, no one will get in my way."
BZZ
Han's eyes widened as Kylo's lightsaber came to life, lifting his lightsaber with one hand and prepared to strike Han down. Han couldn't believe it, his own son was going to strike him down, and he saw in the eyes of the dark lord that the regret, the sadness, was gone. Only replaced by hate, darkness, and for a single second it flickered red.
Sith
"HAN!" Damien cried, reaching his hand out towards the old man. Han felt his feet leave the ground as Kylo hit air where Han stood, the old man sliding to the ends of the stairs. Kylo looked up to the upper levels, seeing Damien and the others.
"Shoot him!" Rhasar said, drawing his blasters and firing at the dark lord. Everyone saved for Damien followed suit, taking their blasters and firing, some of them shot at the stormtroopers who were taken by surprise. Chewie roared and aimed his bowcaster at Kylo, slowly reaching for the trigger, only to see a boy smiling up at him. Chewie let out a small whine, before taking his caster and shooting one of the stormtroopers.
"Han, get out of there!" Damien exclaimed, Han quickly pulled himself back up and started making his way towards the stairs. Taking one last look at Kylo, who deactivated his lightsaber, Han pulled out the detonator and pushed the button.
KABOOM
The columns exploded in molten metal and fire, going up in flames and opening a large gap into the oscillator. Kylo remained impassive from the explosion, his eyes were set on Damien, and they both were looking at each other. Damien said nothing, the fire reflecting off his eyes but he knew Kylo wouldn't stop until he got him. A hand on his shoulder, and Damien was turned to Rey who was pulling him towards the door.
"Come on! We have to leave!" Rey said, the others running out the door. Damien took one last look at Kylo, a feeling of pain in his chest, before running out the door. Kylo watched them go, a stoic expression on his face, grabbing his helmet and slipping it back on. He walked towards the entrance and ignored the fire around him, an invisible field pushed everything around him away, as he would allow nothing to stop him from getting to Luke, and finally breaking his chains.
Zer0: Holy fucking shit. I mean goddamn.
Bio: That takes care of that.
Zer0: That fight was honestly really fun to write, I am very proud of what we came out with. Our favorite part was obviously Rhasar vs Kylo.
Bio: We played around a lot with what we ultimately wanted to make Kylo in this different from all the other bad guys. The Prequel villains were basically agile assassins that moved incredibly fast in fights, Vader in the OT was a calm and skilled powerhouse, so we decided the best way to differentiate Kylo was to basically turn him into a walking tank. He can take a ton of punishment and still keep going. (The Attack on Titan music we had on loop also helped with this tank mentality)
Zer0: Everyone gangster til Kylo stops holding back. We also did say a while back someone was gonna lose a limb, and it turned out to be Rhasar's entire right arm. Best part is? We're still not done. Holy shit, we still got one more chapter until the first book/movie/whatevs is done. The space battle was…..not my best, I'll admit. I'm more of a grounds fighter, but hopefully I can get better with each story. Damn this is one of the longest chapters we've done for this story. Um….what else, what else? Oh I haven't seen the Mandalorian S2, so yeah. Honestly we are just tired because we wrote this all night. Anything else, Bio?
Bio: Not really, apart from staying tuned for the final chapter to Episode VII in the future.
Zer0: Hopefully this month too. With that everyone, let's send out the final summary.
Final Chapter Summary: The time has come, Damien has finally taken the mantle of a Jedi and wielded the lightsaber. Can he succeed where his friends have failed? Will Poe and Karine be able to destroy the oscillator in time before the weapon fires, or will Kylo and the First Order reign supreme? Find out in the thrilling conclusion of Star Wars Episode VII: A Spark of Light.
Zer0: And with that, May the Force be with you all.
Bio: Always.
