Shocked, Maura gasped, "What? Why?"

"Shh, shh. I'm just going to be on loan to NYPD for six weeks. And then I'll be back." She reached out and took one of Maura's hands into her own. "I promise."

"Why are you going to New York?"

"I am going to be working with a task force NYPD set up to try and find all of Hoyt's apprentices."

Maura nodded. "So you will be working with Olivia and Alex?" Jane nodded.

"Actually, Alex has offered to let me stay with her for the duration."

Maura's head shot up. "Alex? Not Olivia?"

Jane shrugged. "Olivia has a son and Alex has a murder room, so to speak, set up in her brownstone. Olivia doesn't want that around Noah."

"Can't say I blame her. Are they back together?" For some inexplicable reason, she found herself hoping they were. Later, when she analyzed this, she would realize she was jealous.

"I...don't know. They were and then something happened. Maybe." Jane shrugged.

Maura nodded. "That happens." As she said the last part, she looked Jane in the eye. "They'll find their way back to each other."

Now it was Jane who looked Maura in the eye. "Yes, they will. Love always wins."

Neither woman looked away until Maura stood up. She turned and started up the steps, looking back to find a confused Jane sitting at the table, staring at her. "If you're coming, come on. If you're going, lock-up."

Jane Rizzoli glanced at Maura and the front door. Before she could change her mind, she climbed the steps and found a disrobing Maura Isles smirking at her. She turned the bed back and motioned for Jane to begin stripping. Jane hurried and then climbed on the bed. Maura turned the lights out and slid beneath the covers. Jane hesitated, so Maura took matters into her own hands.

"You look very tired and tense, Jane." She leaned over Jane and ran her hand up to Jane's breasts. She kissed the detective and began working her way down to her center. Without hesitation, she began pleasuring Jane.

Not taking time to savor what had just happened, Jane worked her way down the blonde's body until she was at her center. Using her tongue, she went as deep as she could and focused solely on pleasing the blonde.

Afterwards, Maura snuggled up to Jane and asked, "Jane, what happens if you find all of Hoyt's apprentices?"

Jane began playing with Maura's hair. "In a perfect world, we jail them all, put them in solitary and then you and I resume our life together." She hugged Maura tighter. "I've missed you so much these last two weeks."

"And if you don't find them all?"

Jane exhaled. "I don't know Maura. Hoyt is dangerous still. I will not risk your life."

Maura kissed her neck. "Jane, I want you to listen to me. However long this takes, I'll wait. For you. Whenever you are stressed or can't sleep, my body is yours. My bed is open to you. I don't want you going away for another lost weekend, ok?"

Jane shifted them until they were spooning. "Maura, I don't want anybody but you. There will be no lost weekends. And the same offer applies to you. My body, my bed, is yours."

Soon after, both women fell into a deep sleep.

The Next Morning

Jane was just putting her shoes on when Maura woke up. "You're leaving?"

Jane stood up and turned to look at Maura. "I am, but I was going to wake you before I left." She bent and kissed the blonde on the cheek. "Is it ok if I call you while I am in New York?"

Maura sat up in bed and nodded. "You better! Jane, you are my only real friend, and while we wait to see what is going to happen with Hoyt, I don't want to lose you as a friend."

Jane sat on the edge of the bed and took Maura's hand. "You are not going to lose me. And I'm going to put Hoyt to bed. Ok?"

Maura leaned forward and gave Jane a long hug and finally a kiss. "Ok. Be careful."

Jane stood again and smiled at Maura. A real smile that hadn't graced her face since the day she broke-up with Maura. "I love you."

Maura smiled back. "I love you too."

Jane's step was lighter as she went down the steps and made her way to her car. As she was getting in the car, her phone rang. "Hey Ma."

"Janie, where are you? I'm at your apartment with food for your trip and you're not here!"

Jane rolled her eyes and swore to herself. "Yeah, Ma, I'm at Maura's..."

Angela perked up at this new piece of information. "Oh? Why?"

Jane grimaced, realizing what she had said. "Yeah, I had to go over a few things with her before I left. I'll be there shortly."

As she hung-up, Angela said to no one in particular, "Yeah, going over Maura's body." She smiled as she thought this meant whatever had happened between them was over. Feeling giddy, she began fixing breakfast for Jane.

Jane had meant to run in, grab her bag, see her mother and leave. That plan was derailed as soon as she opened the door and smelled bacon. She knew this meant her mother fixed breakfast, and she would have to eat at least one plate.

"Let me get my bag, Ma, and then I'll have some of that."

As Jane was busy shoveling the bacon and eggs into her mouth, Angela was covertly trying to see if Jane had any tell-tale marks on her neck. It was then she noted Jane was wearing the same clothes as the day before.

Jane, feeling her mother's eyes on her, looked up. "What?"

Angela took the fabric of Jane's shirt between her fingers and rubbed it. "Weren't you wearing this yesterday?"

Jane stopped chewing and quickly came up with a believable lie. "I was at the station all night, then swung by Maura's and now I'm here."

Angela smirked. "Go take a shower. And change your underwear."

"Ma!"
