A/N: Short chapter, but I have surgery tomorrow and may be out of it for a bit. Second author's note at the end.

Stunned almost sober, Maura backed away. "NO! No."

Harley, now also stunned almost sober, began trying to speak. "Oh, oh, I'm so sorry Maura! I have apparently misread the situation. I...I thought you were gay? I'm sorry."

Maura reached out and put her hand on Harley's shoulder. "I...I'm bisexual. And in love with somebody else. You are an attractive woman, but you're not her. And she is the only one I want. I'm sorry."

"Oh gosh, I don't go around sleeping with another woman's woman." She looked away, embarrassed.

Maura, realizing that what Harley said was true, rushed to reassure her. "It's ok. We...we aren't together. Technically we aren't together. It's..."

Harley smiled and replied, "Complicated?"

Maura's smile faltered as she nodded. "And it doesn't have to be."

Harley nodded. "I understand that. Listen, if you need to talk or whatever, I'm a good listener."

Maura leaned up and placed a kiss on Harley's cheek. "Thank you. I may take you up on that." She turned and made her way into the military housing unit that would be her home for the next two months. She turned o the entryway light and saw the box that had been delivered for her. Opening it, she found her encrypted satellite phone. She sat down and removed the phone, reading the instructions on how to operate it. She decided she had to speak to Jane, so she dialed her.

"Jane?"

Jane Rizzoli had been sleeping on her couch since Maura had left. Her cellphone was on her chest as she fumbled to answer. "...Maura?" Jane squinted as she tried to see the clock on her DVD player. "What time is it?"

Maura looked at her watch. "Quarter til 2:00 your time. I'm sorry, but I just got my encrypted phone and I couldn't wait."

Jane sat upright and rushed to reassure Maura. "No worries. I'm glad to hear from you. You can call me at anytime and I will answer. How are you?"

Maura sighed. "I miss you terribly. I wish you were here, with me." She choked back a sob, which Jane heard.

"Maura? Is everything ok? Has something happened?" Jane was already sitting on the edge of her couch, looking for her shoes. She didn't know where she thought she was going, but if Maura needed her, she would find a way.

"I miss you, I want you and I want us. I want US, Jane." She sniffled. "Jane...!"

Jane pulled her phone away from her ear and looked at it, trying to figure out why Maura sounded...drunk? "Maura...have you been drinking?"

Maura snorted to clear her sinuses and then belched. "A little." She belched again. "Ok, a lot." She found a tissue and blew her nose. "I was drunk, but now I'm not so much." She giggled.

Jane smiled at the thought of Maura, her Maura, being drunk. "Oh really? How did you go from drunk to not so much?" Jane sat back, eager to hear this story.

"Harley helped me get back to where I'm staying and then we kissed and she wanted to come in, if you know what I mean?" She giggled again. "She's a pretty good kisser."

Jane Rizzoli felt the unmistakable gut punch of jealousy. She reminded herself they were broken up, that Maura didn't owe her anything, that this was all her fault. Then, she asked the question she didn't want the answer to. "Did you sleep with her?"

Confused, Maura shook her head as she answered, "NO! I am in no shape to consent! Besides, I don't wanna have sex with her. I wanna have sex with you, Janie. And I told her that." Maura rushed to her bathroom where she threw-up. She collapsed on the bathroom floor, clutching her phone. She could hear Jane calling her name. "I'm ok Jane...I just...need you..."

Jane sighed, happy Maura hadn't slept with Harley and wondering what kind of name Harley was. And then she realized Maura was drunk, alone and on her bathroom floor, where she was throwing up and crying. "Maura? Maura, roll onto your side, ok?"

Maura did as Jane asked and cuddled her phone. "Jane?"

"Are you on your side?" She waited for Maura to answer before she answered. "Yeah, Maura?"

"Can we have phone sex? Not tonight, but tomorrow night?"

Jane chuckled. "Yeah Maura, we can. But not tonight. You being too drunk to consent and all."

"Ok. I love you, Jane."

Jane replied, "I love you too, Maura." She wasn't surprised when almost immediately she heard a soft snore coming from Maura. She listened for a few minutes before disconnecting the call.

Next Morning

Maura was slow getting ready the next morning, and annoyed when there was a knock on her door. She trudged to the door and opened it to find Harley holding a cup of coffee out to her. "I thought you might need this."

Maura took the cup and waved Harley inside. "Thank you!" She looked at Harley. "Why do you not look as bad as I feel?"

Harley shrugged. "Taller, Irish blood and I have a high tolerance?" She walked over to Maura and took a good look at her. "After you drink that, you know to hydrate, right?" Maura nodded. "I want to apologize again for last night. I..."

Maura interrupted her. "You didn't know. It's ok, we're good."

Harley nodded. "Would you like a ride to the testing lab? It's quite a walk and you don't look up to the challenge."

Maura smiled and accepted the offer.

A/N: Did you really think I was going to let Maura sleep with somebody besides Jane?
