As a half-giant, Balher was naturally blessed with great strength. Which is why Nathan found it fitting to take him on his trip to the human world.
As a porter, of course.
"Balher, there's more in here.", Nathan stood in the doorway of the storage room in the Agares mansion.
"What?! I thought the last room was it!"
"Yeah, I forgot about this.", Nathan moved out of Balher's way as Balher went into the storage room and packed up all the things that Nathan needed.
"Thanks. We can go now.", Nathan double checked the luggage that he (read: Balher) was carrying, and he confirmed that he had everything he needed.
"Finally! Haven't visited the human world in a while!", Balher exclaimed as he moved towards a teleportation circle in the Agares mansion.
Nathan hummed, "It'll be my first time as well."
'No, it wasn't', Nathan thought to himself. He has already been in the human world… before his death.
"Well, let's go then."
"Yeah!"
Nathan chuckled at Balher's enthusiasm, and he signalled for the teleportation circle to activate, transporting them into a mansion owned by the Agares family in the human world. Specifically, in Athens, Greece.
Almost instantaneously after the teleportation circle was activated, Balher and Nathan found themselves in a different environment- the storage room in the Agares mansion of Athens.
Nathan and Balher stepped out of the teleportation circle, and Nathan instructed Balher to unpack their luggage.
Balher grumbled as he started unpacking, while Nathan left the storage room to search for available rooms.
Nathan closed his eyes and focused on sensing demonic energy of any kind, and he found that he couldn't sense anyone except for himself and Balher in the mansion.
He continued looking around for someone, but alas, Nathan couldn't find anyone.
Nathan glanced at the various decorations on the walls, noting that there wasn't dust of any source on any of the decorations.
'There's a maintenance spell… how efficient.'
Nathan decided to get a room for himself, and he chose the one closest to the storage room, for the teleportation circle- just in case anything went wrong.
Nathan then went back to the storage room, where Balher also finished unpacking. "Take your stuff and choose a room. You can leave the rest here."
Balher nodded before grabbing a small duffel bag and hoisting it over his shoulder. As he left the room, he glanced over his shoulder and said, "You sure you won't need help?"
Nathan shook his head and started picking luggage up, and began moving them to his room.
After the transition of his luggage was done, Nathan stood up, and walked to the entrance of the mansion, mentally noting exit routes of the way.
The reason why Nathan was being so cautious was because this was a Greek territory. Not just any normal ones- the capital of Greece itself. Nathan thought that it was a wonder how the Agares family even managed to build a mansion in Athens, with it being the center of Greek Mythology.
'If I commit a crime, there'll be retribution immediately…'
As Nathan arrived at the front entrance, preparing to exit the mansion and go into Athens, Nathan turned back and shouted to Balher, "Remember, this is Greek territory! Our relationship is already bad enough as it is, don't need to strain it more, so be careful of your actions!"
A response came almost immediately, "Tell yourself that!"
Nathan chuckled, "I'll be leaving the mansion for a little bit. I'll come back before sunset. If I don't, go search for me."
Balher replied, "Gotcha."
Nathan turned to face the entrance, before opening the doors and leaving the mansion, descending onto the city of Athens.
"Mmh."
Nathan hummed in bliss as he enjoyed a Moussaka that he bought from a stall.
Nathan was simply walking through Athens, having no particular destination in mind. One could say that he was going wherever the wind would take him.
In his case, the wind decided to take him to a museum. Specifically, the Temple of Zeus, a museum dedicated to the Olympian Gods, and as its name suggests- Zeus.
Outwardly, the museum looked exotic. Using marble, rather than brick and concrete, it stood out from the other buildings surrounding it.
Nathan finished his Moussaka before stepping inside the museum, as he saw a [No Eating] sign by the entrance, before throwing the paper dish away.
As Nathan entered the museum, he instantly noticed a change. The interior of the building looked rather worn out, and had a dark and gloomy vibe to it, repulsing some visitors that disliked the atmosphere.
'This looks more like a cult… I probably shouldn't say that.', Nathan drawled and nervously chuckled when he realised that in a way, he might've blasphemed against the Olympian Gods.
Nathan looked up towards the roof, finding a… bronze lightning bolt hanging from the ceiling. As he squinted at it, he realized- the tip of the lightning bolt was glowing.
Nathan felt chills all over his body, and decided that he would be more careful with his thoughts as he continued touring the museum.
On his tour, Nathan saw many things; a goat horn with plenty of food in it- a Cornucopia, a gold-colored shield- Aegis, a helmet and a spear- the symbol of Ares, and various other symbols/artifacts relating to each of the Olympian Gods.
Nathan could sense a weak, lingering power in each of the artifacts, although due to the weak power, Nathan believed that the artifacts weren't the real ones.
'Of course. Who would be so stup- nevermind.', Nathan had some… bad thoughts about the Olympians- ones that disappeared as soon as he heard the rumbling of thunder.
Nathan gulped nervously before continuing his tour, hoping to find something interesting.
As Nathan walked into the [History] section, Nathan felt a strong sense of attraction- one that he followed.
As Nathan walked through the museum, he felt as if he wasn't really the one walking anymore- it was more like he was being pulled on his feet by something… someone.
Nathan continued walking, slowly feeling the loss of control over his body, and at one point, Nathan believed that he was walking on his own.
The deeper Nathan went into the museum, the more Nathan felt the sense of death and darkness.
After what felt like hours to Nathan, he finally stopped. In front of him was a coffin, and atop that coffin was a glass case, having a… scythe on display.
Nathan's breathing was out of control; chest heaving rapidly as he saw an ethereal green mist flowing towards him from the coffin, entering his body through his nose and mouth, giving him a sense of despair as he couldn't control his body.
Nathan felt it. The green mist entering his body, invading every cell and vessel that he had, suffocating him.
Eventually, Nathan's knees gave out as he tried supporting himself on all fours, saliva flowing out of his mouth and tears flowing out of his face, feeling a sense of hopelessness as he repeatedly tried to stand up and failed.
'What the hell just happened?'
Nathan was on his knees for a few more minutes, before he regained his composure- as much as he could, and stood up, heading straight for the exit.
All Nathan wanted to do now was to go home. To his mom. His real mom.
Nathan walked through the streets of Athens as fast as he could, while fixing his messy appearance.
With his speed, Nathan ended up in front of the Athens-Agares mansion shortly, and he entered it, putting on a calm front for Balher in case he caught him entering.
Nathan walked through the halls when he heard a shout from Balher, "What're we eating for tonight?"
Nathan calmly replied, "Delivery. You can choose."
"That's my boy! Got anything you want?"
No. His appetite was lost due to what happened in the museum.
Nathan awkwardly responded, "I'll take some grilled meat if you can find them."
"Sure.", came the response from Balher.
Nathan accelerated his pace and arrived at his room, entering it and locking the doors, before collapsing on the bed.
Nathan wanted to sit up and figure out what was wrong with him. What invaded his body… but he couldn't. He was just too tired.
Nathan struggled to stay awake, fighting the sleep and exhaustion, trying to keep his eyes open.
The struggle only exhausted him more and more, and eventually, Nathan passed out on the bed.
'... I can't sleep yet…'
Those were his last thoughts as he passed onto the land of dreams.
