Nathan frowned as he watched the grim reaper that he had been following for a while turn invisible suddenly, as if he was erased by an eraser.

'That's annoying. Where'd he go?' Nathan addressed Kronos as he inconspicuously walked towards the grim reaper's last location before its disappearance.

[He's still here. You can't sense it because you're restricting all your magical senses, but he's still within the area. In fact, he's right in front of you right now.]

Nathan's eyebrows nearly twitched as he found out his target was in front of him, but he controlled his facial expression as he continued walking, 'Track him for me.'

[Alright. He just turned left, and now he is crossing the street. He's heading for the apartment block titled 'Vincente's Housing', from what I can see.]

Nathan nodded indiscernibly as he followed Kronos' directions, eventually arriving in front of the apartment after a few twists and turns in order to look normal.

[He's going up the elevator. You can catch him if you run through the stairs.]

Nathan opened the door to the stairwell as he ran up the stairs, matching the elevator's pace as he jogged.

[He got off here, on the 6th floor. Be careful, he might've heard you running up the stairs.]

'Are his senses that good?'

[No. You're just loud.]

Nathan clicked his tongue as he took a deep breath and closed his eyes, suppressing his demonic power and holding in his breath, essentially becoming a statue.

Nathan could practically feel the grim reaper hovering in front of the stairwell door, hesitating between kicking it open, or ignoring the noises that Nathan had made, but ultimately, the grim reaper walked away and entered an apartment.

'Which apartment was it?'

[620. I can feel traces of magic from that apartment.] Kronos warned Nathan as Nathan walked to the room next to the one that the grim reaper entered, room 621.

Nathan opened the door and he found that it was unlocked. A sign that the owner was either careless, or they were home.

'... If I hypnotize the owners of this apartment, will the grim reaper be able to sense my magic?'

Kronos scoffed. [Why would you do that? Just knock them out before they see you. Make sure to catch their bodies though.]

Nathan deadpanned as he entered the apartment and closed the door, making sure to be quiet so as to not alert the apartment owner (if they're home).

Nathan then pressed his ear against the wall that separated the two apartments, before frowning as he realized that the wall was soundproof.

'... Kronos?'

Before Nathan even had a chance to ask his question, Kronos already answered, [You can tap into their conversation if you plant a recording device. Don't ask me how you would get one, because you know how.]

Nathan's eyebrows furrowed in confusion for a second, before understanding what Kronos was talking about.

'I'll use my phone.' Nathan decided as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. He pressed the power button, expecting the screen to turn on, but it didn't.

'... F*ck.'

[... You forgot to charge your phone, didn't you.]

'Thank you for stating the obvious.'

Kronos then erupted into laughter, before quieting down and saying, [Well, that won't matter. There are always resources available, you know?]

Nathan had a bad feeling as he replied, 'You want me to steal something from this apartment, don't you?'

[Not from the apartment, but the person in it. The owner is currently sleeping in the bedroom to the far left. She's quite careless, leaving her door unlocked to a predator like you.]

Nathan sighed, but he didn't say anything. Instead, he moved to the bedroom on the far left of the apartment, opening and closing the door with minimal noise so as to not wake up the owner.

On the bed, there was a middle-aged woman sleeping, and her phone was sitting next to her pillow.

Nathan carefully walked over and snatched the phone, before slightly lifting the woman's finger to use her fingerprint.

When Nathan succeeded in opening the phone, he gently laid the finger back down and exited the room, before walking over to the wall separating the apartments once again. This time though, he was prepared to tap into the conversation.

Nathan discreetly pierced the thin wall, creating just a small enough hole for the phone to fit through, before setting the phone there on the recording function.

'I feel like a spy.'

[You technically are.]

Nathan waited for a while and kept recording the conversation, and he didn't stop the recording even after the conversation was over. Instead, he waited to see if any one of them would leak confidential information.

To his disappointment, Kronos informed him that the grim reaper left the building along with his accomplices in the apartment, and Nathan could only sigh in resignation as he picked up the phone and started going through the recording.

"We found a piece of the…"

"... We plan to get it soon, in… week."

"It's in… Italy"

Nathan frowned as he listened to the recording that was of bad quality. The conversation between the grim reapers had its bits and pieces torn off by the bad audio.

"I'll inform you when we… ready."

After the recording ended, Nathan replayed it a few more times to graft the information that he had together. In the end, Nathan concluded that there must be an object of great importance to the grim reapers, and perhaps to Hades by extension.

Though he soon eliminated that thought. Why would Hades send meagre grim reapers to retrieve something that he wanted? Would it not be better to send the likes of Thanatos, or even that grim reaper who killed Balher?

Nathan had many thoughts about the thing that the grim reapers were talking about, but ultimately, he could only guess due to the lack of information.

'In a week, huh? Wait, was there a number before that?'

[Who knows? The quality of the recording was abysmal. Even I couldn't even make anything out of it.]

Nathan's eyebrows furrowed, before smiling as he joked at Kronos, 'I suppose even the great King of Titans can't do everything.'

Kronos shot back, [I can do more than you, that's for sure.]

Nathan smiled playfully as he ignored the shot, deleted the recording on the phone, and returned the phone to the still sleeping woman.

After he erased his traces in the apartment, Nathan leisurely walked outside the building and blended in with the crowd.

As Nathan walked among the crowd, he noticed an eagle perched atop a building, almost as if it was observing the inhabitants of the city.

Nathan narrowed his eyes at the eagle, but ultimately started ignoring it when he couldn't sense anything different from them.

*Peaeee!*

The eagle took off into the sky with a cry, and that was the final straw that made Nathan lose interest in it.

The eagle continued soaring through the skies for a few hours, ultimately landing on a remote building.

Atop the building, the eagle, who had strange, wave patterned eyes, suddenly contorted and caused its body to be mis-proportioned.

It then finally formed a human being after a few more seconds. The human that came from it had an androgynous appearance and black hair, with no body parts belonging to a prominent gender.

They sighed, "He had fallen that far…"
