Patrick slept peacefully in his bed when he felt a tug on his arm. Waking up, Patrick noticed that there was a shadow over him. Opening his eyes, he let out a scream. Hanging in front of his face, with two googly eyes glued to her chin, was Mabel.

"Mornin', Patrick, guess who!" she said in a silly voice.

Patrick stared up at her with tired eyes and an annoyed look. "Dipper!" he said loudly.

"What?" Dipper groaned, still asleep.

"Mabel's doing something weird."

Dipper sighed in annoyance and sat up. He looked over at the two and playfully rolled his eyes when he saw what she was doing. "Oh, what joy. If it isn't Mr. Upside-Downington. How long's it been? Third grade, maybe?"

"That's right. And I'm here to deliver you two an upside-downington-tastic message!" Mabel exclaimed with a widening smile.

"Let me guess," Patrick said. "Is it you're getting too old to glue things to your face?"

"Um, kinda, actually," Mabel said in her normal voice. She jumped off the bed and Patrick sat up as she ran over to her calendar on her side of the room. The hyperactive girl pointed to August 31. "It's that we are exactly one week away from our 13th birthday!"

"Whoa! Our birthday's coming up already?" Dipper asked, sitting up in his bed.

"Yep! You two have grown up so fast. Soon you're gonna be actual teenagers!" Patrick said with a big smile.

"Finally! I can stop reading preteen magazines and start reading post-preteen magazines," Mabel said with an eager smile.

"PG-13 movies, here I come!" Dipper exclaimed.

"I can finally show you two some of my favorite anime shows!" Patrick said. The three of them jumped off their beds and walked to the middle of the room together.

"And just one more year until high school!" Mabel announced as she excitedly shook her brother. "High school, Dipper! Where girls become women and they teach us stuff about…" She turned Dipper around and whispered to him in his ear "You know what."

"Trigonometry?" Dipper responded

"Oh yeah, baby!" Mabel cheered.

Patrick laughed and shook his. He knew they were talking about sex without saying it, but it was still funny to him. Suddenly, Stan and Soos entered the room excitedly.

"That's not the only good news coming up!" Stan announced, holding a magazine. "In one week my senior citizen's ponytail kit is coming in the mail. I'm...I'm kinda going through some things."

"In one week, my grandma is finally letting me eat crackers on my bed!" Soos declared. "What about you, Patrick? Anything exciting for you?"

"Well, dad said that the baby's expected to arrive very soon. So, I'll be a big brother again!" Patrick said with genuine excitement. Ever since coming to terms with Shawn's death during the Nightmare Spirit incident, Patrick's actually been looking forward to seeing his new brother or sister. He still missed his brother, but that wasn't going to stop him from loving his new sibling.

"The future is coming for us all, dudes," Soos said

"The future." Stan echoed.

"The future!" Dipper cried.

"The future!" Mabel cheered, her googly eyes wiggling around on her chin.

"The future," Patrick said as well. He then looked at Mabel and laughed. "I'm sorry, I can't take you seriously with that face on your chin." He chucked.

"What face, Patrick?" Mabel asked, acting as Mr. Upside-Downington.

Dipper laughed as well. "You're-You're doing the voice so you obviously know what I'm talking about–"

Mabel cut him off. "Bi bon't bnow bhat bou're balking about," she said in a voice they couldn't understand. This made the boys laugh harder. Dipper pushed her back teasingly as Patrick ruffled her head.

"There is something wrong with you," commented Dipper.

"There's something wrong with both of us," Mabel said as the five of them walked out of the room.

Pausing at the threshold of the doorway, Patrick looked back at the calendar. The 31th circled with a bright red marker. Both twins' heads were cut from photos and taped over formal adult clothing.

It was hard to believe that it was going to be over so soon. So much as happened in the span of three months that it almost felt like they'd been there for a year instead. They've fought monsters, solved mysteries, and made many friends. In Patrick's case, he also found love in the form of Wendy. They even found the author and reunited their family.

And now, it was all coming to an end. In two weeks, they'll be leaving the Mystery Shack and the small town of Gravity Falls to return to their normal lives. School will start again when Fall comes around.

Summer was coming to an end. But were they really ready for it?

They'll soon find out that this Summer isn't done with them just yet.

{Play Stranger Things theme by Kyle Dixon Michael Stein}

The intro begins by fading in a scene of the road sign that said: "Welcome to Gravity Falls, Oregon."

We then see a view of the town of Gravity Falls, with the strangely shaped canyons in the background, and the sun going down between the two land formations. As the sun was setting, the day turned to a blue night. However, a sinister red light comes from over the horizon. Shining between the canyon.

The next scene is of a large, dinosaur footprint in the ground. It then changed to show the trees of the forest at night, and a pair of glowing eyes staring at the viewer before the camera switched to a wider shot and showed many more eyes staring at the viewer. The next scene was a far back show of two men dumping a body into the lake, and as that body sank down it was swallowed by a massive creature.

PATRICK

The teenage Pines is shown in a freeze shot of him walking in the woods with a lantern and his crowbar in hand. Behind him, Bill's eye in the sky looked down at him.

DIPPER

The male twin is looking down at the journal with a flashlight. Not noticing that there was a Pteranodon staring down at him, ready to eat him.

MABEL

The female twin is the final one to be seen, and it showed her wearing a sweater that lit up because it was plugged into an outlet. But in another, farther away shot showed Gideon's hand controlling her like she was a marionette.

The finale of the intro shows the Mystery Shack as the sun goes down behind it and the trees of the forest. When the sun went down and the night came, and just like the beginning, the red light appeared, but then a blue light shined from inside the Mystery Shack.

Then the screen went black and the title of the story appeared in a flash of light.

WEIRDER THINGS

It then disappeared, before the chapter title appeared.

Chapter Thirty-Seven:

The Final Days of Summer

Later on, Patrick was in the living room with Mabel, Dipper, and Soos setting up for the party. Veronica was also there for support and for baking. Mabel, now wearing a sombrero and sunglasses, set up a birthday display on the table. She made a small diorama of the Mystery Shack, which she renamed the Patrick Shack. Her calendar was standing beside her.

"Alright, party planners. In one week we become teenagers, and our summer vacation winds to an end. So we need to throw the greatest party of all time!" Mabel exclaimed, taking off her glasses and raising her fists in the air. "I'm talking piñatas with tinier piñatas inside."

"Boom, dreams comin' true!" Soos said as he poured little piñatas into one larger piñata.

"I'm talking about cakes with cupcakes in each slice!"

"My time to use my grandma's baking lesson has come," Veronica said as she used a wise sage-like tone.

"I'm talking about inviting everyone in town." Mabel walked over to Dipper as her brother jotted down the information she was giving on a notepad. She took the pencil and notepad and looked at the list of people they were inviting. "Let's see, where do we stand with the gnomes?"

"I wanna…say peace talks…haven't broken down but…" Patrick trailed off as he panted. He was inflating a ton of balloons and had them floating around the room with streamers tied to them.

"Not so fast, three stooges!" They all turned to see Stan walking into the room with a baseball bat. "After that zombie incident, no one's throwing another party at my house. I keep finding little bits of the undead in the couch cushions." He lifted the chair cushion to find a zombie arm under it.

Stan threw the bat over to Patrick, who caught it. "But Grunkle Stan, we need some roof to raise!" Mabel exclaimed.

"Dude, you could rent out the Gravity Falls High School gym, and have your party there," Soos said, tucking the pinata under his arm. "That place is empty all summer long."

"Hey, that's actually a great idea, Soos," Patrick said with a smile. "Wendy's there right now going her registration."

"To the high school!" Mabel shouted. All of a sudden, the entire house violently shook, startling everyone.

"Dipper, my face is on fire!" Ford shouted from his room.

Veronica sighed in annoyance. He's pulled this stun before whenever he needed her to come as fast as she could. Still upset with Ford not telling her about the rift, Veronica said, "We better go see what he's up to."

The cousins sprinted into Ford's room and saw him hunched over a towel, rubbing his face. "Great-uncle Ford, are you okay?" Dipper asked worriedly.

Ford turned around while wiping off his face, which is smoking, with a towel. "Oh yes, I'm fine. I just said that to make sure you'd come in here quickly," he said with a smile.

"But your face is on fire," Patrick stressed, pointing to a small strand of smoke still drifting from Ford's face.

"Yes, it's much faster than shaving," he said, patting it out calmly. His smile dropped as he disapprovingly pointed to him and Mabel. "Wait, what are you two doing here? I thought I only asked for Dipper."

"Yeah, well now you've got all of us. You've got more than just one nephew, Ford," Veronica said as she walked into the room with her arms behind her back. Not liking how her cousin was playing favorites with the kids after Patrick told them what he wouldn't. "So what's going on? And please, don't bother lying to me."

Ford scowled at her but also looked away. This isn't what he wanted but knew that it was no use now. "Fine. Listen, all of you. I have a very important mission, and I'll need help to accomplish it," Ford said. Kneeling down, he brought out the rift from within his coat. "Remember the rift in dimensional space-time I showed you? It's cracking."

Patrick and the twins watched as hairline fractures slowly grew along the surface of the glass orb. "How is this happening?" he asked. "Wasn't that supposed to secure it permanently?"

"It was, but now it's growing at an incredible rate. It's no longer able to contain it," Ford said in a serious tone. "This is what Bill has been waiting for. If it breaks, it will cause reality as we know it to completely unravel. A hypothetical and catastrophic event I call…Weirdmageddon."

Ford walked over to a blackboard in the room, and Patrick's heart sank. The board detailed the finer points of Weirdmageddon. All of them were horrific. The earth splitting in half, reality swallowing in on itself, Gravity Falls ripping open and everyone falling to their deaths. Making it all quite clear that if the rift breaks, they'll be at the mercy of a being that has no mercy. Along with all the powers of hell.

"Bill is out there, and he'd use any trick, from deception to outright possession, to make this happen. But for the sake of humanity, we mustn't let it."

"Then we need to patch the rift," Patrick said. His voice was a bit shaken by the thought of what Bill was going to do.

"But it wouldn't last forever. Doing so will at least buy us enough time to figure out a permanent solution," Veronica said in a serious tone.

"That's right, Veronica," Ford agreed. He walked over to a table and placed the rift into a protective case before locking it shut. "Now tell me, has the Office done anything to Crash Site Omega in the time that I've been away?"

"No. We've left it alone for the most part," Veronica said, crossing her arms. "Only the most high-level agents such as myself are allowed to go anywhere near the saucer."

"Wait, saucer?" Dipper asked.

"There's no time to explain. I'll tell you all there is to know on the way." Ford said, picking up the case.

"Then there's no time to lose," Patrick said with a determined look. "Dipper and Mabel will stay here and I'll go with Ford."

However, just as he said that, Dipper frowned and started to think. All week he's been helping the author with small tacts, never really leaving Shack anything major. He didn't want to run out on Mabel, but if he wanted to really prove himself to the author, then he needed to go. Alone.

"Uh, actually, Patrick. I was thinking about going with Great Uncle Ford," Dipper said, walking in front of Patrick and standing in front of Ford. "Alone."

"Really? But what about your birthday party?" Patrick asked, raising an eyebrow.

"It's okay, Patrick," said Mabel. She was smiling with two bags of different shades of brown in her hands. All week, she had to watch as Dipper ran off with Ford, so she knew what to do. "Dipper should totally go with Grunkle Ford to save the world or whatever."

"Are you sure?" Patrick asked, worriedly.

"We're going to be doing birthday junk all week. Plus, I packed us walky-talkies," Mabel said. She walked up to Dipper with the two bags and handed him the lighter bag. "Here's one for my party mission, and one for your smarty mission." the twins and Patrick laughed at her pun, until Ford cleared his throat.

"I did mention that the fate of the universe is at stake, didn't I?" He tapped his watch to emphasize his point.

"Hold on, I need to talk to Dipper," Patrick said.

Ford tapped his foot on the floor impatiently, which made Veronica stoop on it. "Ow!" He yelled, hopping up and down while holding his feet in pain.

Patrick kneeled down and placed his hands on Dipper's shoulders. "Alright, Dipper. I'm trusting you not to do anything stupid and to be safe. Can I count on you to do that?"

Dipper nodded with a smile of confidence. "You've got it."

After getting over the pain and seeing that his nephews were done with their moment, Ford dashed out of the run. "Hurry, we haven't much time."

"Okay, Dipper. It's your first big mission with Ford. A chance to prove yourself. Don't mess this up," Dipper said to himself…before running and hitting the wall. Missing the door. "Ow! Ah, heh heh, I'm alright." Mabel grinned at her brother as he laughed, then ran out of the room. But not before tripping on a loose floorboard. "Ahh!"

Patrick rode with Veronica as they followed behind Soos' truck. Mabel was with him, as they drove for the high school. "So, what exactly is Crash Site Omega?" Patrick asked his grandmother.

"You see those cliffs," Veronica said, pointing to the gravity-defying cliffs that gave the town its name. She then opened the glove compartment and pulled out a stack of papers in a folder that was stamped with 'Top Secret'. "They weren't formed naturally, Patrick. They were made by something that cut into the face of the mountain. Something…extraterrestrial in origin."

Patrick was handed the folder as he looked at the cliffs. He then looked at the folder in his lap and opened it. The first thing that he noticed about the first paper was a very well-detailed drawn picture of a UFO. At first, he was confused, but when he looked back at the cliffs, Patrick held the paper up. Aligning the drawing with cliffs themselves to see that it fits perfectly. That's when the switch finally clicked in the teenager's head.

"My God…" Patrick breathed with a shell-shocked look.

"That's right. Aliens," Veronica said with an amused smile. "According to the research I and Ford conducted, the entire valley of Gravity Falls was formed when an extraterrestrial ship crash-landed here millions of years ago. The crash killed everyone aboard, and for millions of years, the UFO has been buried beneath the town. Whether or not it's the cause of the town's strange properties or if it attracted the craft is still unknown."

"This…This is insane! I can't believe there's been a giant UFO under the town this whole time," Patrick exclaimed with a look of amazement.

"Relax, it's not a big deal," Veronica said with a smirk.

"'Not a big deal?' How is this not a big deal?" Patrick looked at her like she was crazy.

"Well, Ford, McGucket, and I used to go down there all the time to raid their tech and study their language. One of their technologies is an alien adhesive that's strong enough to keep the crack sealed in space-time," Veronica explained. "That's what Ford and Dipper are going to get."

Patrick would have asked more questions, but before he could, they had already arrived.

Gravity Falls High School was a two-story square building, with a logo and an American flag above its main entrance and "GRAVITY FALLS HIGH SCHOOL" written along the top edge of its facade. It was primarily made out of red bricks with gray trim while its entrance has light-colored columns and black trim and roof. It had multiple large windows on all sides of the building.

There was a marquee board for announcements out front and a parking lot off to the left side. As Veronica's car and Soos's truck pulled into the parking lot, Patrick noticed Nate and Lee messing with the sign, which said "SAWDUST INHALATION DRILL- 8:00. GO FIGHTING BEAVERS." They removed the 'saw' part of sawdust.

As they stepped out of the car, Patrick was about to follow Mabel and Soos inside when Veronica called him. "Sweetie! One more thing!"

Patrick turned back to her, only to have a belt get thrown at him. He caught it and saw that it was a normal-looking leather belt with a silver buckle. However, when he looked at it, he noticed a colorful glint of light shining off of it. Upon closer inspection, Patrick saw there was a line of unicorn hair that ran the entire length of the belt.

"I was only able to make one. I know that the Shack is safe, but I want to make sure that you have extra protection," Veronica said with a smirk. "I'll be grabbing the ingredients for the cakes, so you make sure to help out your cousin."

"You got it, Grandma!" Patrick said with a grin as she drove off.

"Patrick, come on!" Mabel called out her cousin.

Patrick quickly slipped on the belt as he walked in her direction. Once it was fastened into place, he quickly ran over to Mabel and Soos. The three of them made their way towards the front entrance, with the young girl being the most excited.

"This is it! I'm finally gonna be stepping into my first high school!" Mabel exclaimed with a big grin on her face.

"You're oddly happy to be going to high school," Patrick said with an amused smirk.

"You bet I am!" Mabel said, raising one fist in the air as the other one carried her stack of flyers. "I've seen almost every high school movie and show to prepare myself for singing and all the high jinks I'll be getting into."

Patrick looked at her with wide eyes. That expression turned to a look of pity as he shook his head. "Oh, Mabel, you poor soul."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Mabel asked, confused.

Sighing, Patrick stopped walking and placed his hands on Mabel's shoulders. "Mabel, you're my cousin, and I love you," he said, making her smile and blush. "But those movies haven't been preparing you. They've been misleading you about what high school's really like."

"What?" Mabel didn't believe him one bit and waved him off. "Are you trying to tell me that high school's not a place where you sing, get into insane dances with all the students, and pull off pranks that get the principal mad, only to be saved by the bell?"

Patrick tried to think of a response, but he couldn't think of something that she would believe. "I think it's best you see for yourself," he said, before standing up.

The three of them opened the doors to the high school. Oddly, the main entrance led to the gymnasium, which had a basketball court and a set of wooden bleachers, above which had a red and yellow logo written "GO BEAVERS!" There were several banners along the walls, along with a picture of the school mascot, the beaver, and a golden banner welcoming the students back.

The students were standing in lines and waiting for their names to be called out. None of the students were smiling and all of them looked absolutely miserable.

"You know, this was what I was kind of expecting," Patrick said, looking at everyone.

"Whoa, Soos, I thought you said this place was empty," Mabel said.

"My dawgs, what up?" Wendy called the Pines and Soos over from her place in line.

"Wendy!" Patrick rushed over to her and pulled her into a quick kiss. The redhead blushed and laughed as she hugged him back.

However, the two noticed that some of the students were looking at them and whispering to each other. Some of them looked at Patrick with frowns, some of them looked at him with pity, and a few of the girls were giving Patrick some flirtatious looks.

"Uh, what's with them?" Patrick asked. Wendy sighed in annoyance and pulled away from her boyfriend. She did so reluctantly.

"Don't worry about it," Wendy said with a bitter expression. To say that she had a bit of a reputation in her school was an understatement. After all, she was one of, if not the hottest girl in school and has had a track record of dating and dumping numerous boys in the past. You don't just do that without some boys wanting to have a chance at dating you and some bitchy girls calling you a slut. It's not her fault that most of those guys were jerks!

As for the girls that were eyeing Patrick. Well, even if he's too modest to admit it, Patrick is a very attractive guy and he's a new face in a sea of old faces. Everyone knew everyone, so the redhead knew that some of the girls would instantly be interested in her boyfriend. But that didn't stop her from getting pissed by the way that some of them were looking at Patrick.

In an attempt to keep herself from wanting to strangle those girls, Wendy turned back to Patrick, Mabel, and Soos. "So, what are you doing here?"

"We were wanting to see if we could use the gymnasium for Dipper and Mabel's birthday," Patrick said, pointing down at his cousin.

"Sweet! Your birthday's coming up?" Wendy asked with an excited grin. "Well, count me in!"

"Great!" Mabel exclaimed with a grin. "You know I'm only a year away from high school myself. Would you say your experience is more rom-com, or wacky romp?"

"More like teen horror movie," Wendy said, much to Mabel's surprise. "High school is the worst. Classes get super hard, your body just flat out turns against you, your hormones turn you into a wild animal, and worst of all, everybody hates you."

Mabel looked at Patrick to see if there was some merit to what she was saying. "See for yourself," Patrick said, gesturing to some of the students.

Mabel turned to see two teenage girls growling at each other while giving each other death glares. Over in the corner was Thompson, curled up in a ball as he rocked himself back and forth. Nate and Lee were trying to calm him down.

"Can't do it! Can't do another year!" Thompson yelled, suffering PTSD from the last school year.

"My hormones are like a sweaty cage!" Robbie yelled in anger as he punched the bulletin board.

"Why am I so horny!" Tambry yelled before grabbing her boyfriend and the two started making out before falling onto the ground.

"Why aren't they singing about following their dreams?" Mabel asked as she watched the chaos. "TV taught me that high school was like some sort of musical."

"TV lied, man!" Wendy exclaimed, grabbing Mabel and turning the young girl to face her. "If you could avoid growing up, do it. I'd give anything to be 12 again. Anyway, I'll be done to help once I'm done here."

"Wendy...Borduroy?" The teacher at the desk said as he read from a list of names. However, when he realized his mistake, all the students laughed at Wendy.

"It's Corduroy, you ass!" Patrick yelled at the teacher. Wendy blushed red in embarrassment as the laughing continued.

"I-I mean Corduroy." The teacher quickly corrected himself, but it didn't stop the students.

"See what I mean?" Wendy asked. She kissed her boyfriend before walking to the teacher.

Patrick watched her leave with a sympathetic look before noticing that Mabel was walking away from him. "Mabel?" He asked before following her.

Mabel exited the gym and sat on the steps. With a sad expression, she pulled out the walkie-talkie from her backpack. "Master Mabel to Dippidy Dog. We can have our party at the gym, but we gotta talk about high school. Starting to think it might not be the awesome future we were expecting. Over."

The radio crackled as Dipper's voice could barely be heard over the static. "I'm going through a bad patch, Mabel. We'll talk when I get back," he said before the transmission was cut.

"Dipper? Come in, come in?" Mabel asked worriedly as she tried to contact her brother. Patrick and Soos exited out of the gym and sat next to her.

"Hey, I know what'll make you feel better. Let's deliver some invites to your friends, huh?" Soos suggested, trying to cheer her up.

"Yeah!" Mabel said with a brightened-up smile.

"Alright, then we'll just have to wait for Wendy to be done and we can all go," Patrick said.

"Alright, thanks," Wendy said to the teacher before walking away. She's been waiting for up to an hour to get this over with and now she was finally able to leave. Wendy walked towards the exit with a smile, looking forward to spending the rest of the day with her boyfriend and his cousin.

Well, she would have if an unexpected and unwelcome individual stepped in front of her path.

"Wendy!" said a teenage boy about a year older than Wendy with brown hair, slightly tanned skin, and muscular. He looked at the redhead with a smirk. This was Bryce, one of Wendy's many exes, and was by far one of the worst. "Long time no see."

Wendy, at first surprised to see him, glared before walking around him. "Not long enough, Bryce," she said, before opening the doors and walking outside. Unfortunately, Bryce followed her.

"Oh come on, Wendy. Can't we just talk?" Bryce asked as he walked behind her.

"What's there to talk about?" Wendy questioned, walking a little faster to get away from him. "We broke up. Get over it!"

"But I want you back!" Bryce said, before grabbing her arm and stopping her. Wendy glared at him.

"Let go of me!" Wendy snapped, yanking her arm back and out of his grip. "You've got a lot of nerves, you know that. Do you honestly take me for a fool?"

"Jesus, Wendy. What did I do to deserve this?" Bryce asked, acting like he didn't do anything wrong.

This only enraged Wendy even more and she shoved her finger into his chest. "You know exactly why we broke up, you braindead narcissist! You lied to me, you used me to get other girls interested in you, stole money from me, cheated on me, and when I broke up with you, you hit me! And that wasn't even the first time you've hit me!"

Bryce, to the redhead's disbelief, scoffed and smirked. "Yeah? So what?" He asked, outright dismissing her words. "Dating me was the best thing that ever happened to you."

"Actually, dipshit. It was the second worst thing that ever happened to me," Wendy said. The first was being turned into a werewolf, but dating the jock was definitely close. She would have just walked off again until she noticed something behind Bryce that made her smirk. "Now if you want to talk about the best thing that ever happened to me, well…just look behind yourself."

Confused, Bryce turned around and was startled to see Patrick standing there with his arms crossed and glaring at him. He already felt mad when Bryce grabbed Wendy's arm, but when he heard what he did, Patrick wanted to throttle the jock. Standing on both sides of him were Mabel and Soos, and they didn't look happy either.

"I suggest that you back off and leave Wendy alone. She made her choice, and you should respect that," Patrick said in a threatening tone.

"And who do you think you are, fucker?" Bryce asked with a mocking expression.

"Me? I just so happen to be her boyfriend, Patrick Pines," Patrick said. Wendy walked around Bryce and clung to Patrick's arm. He then kissed her on the head, making Wendy smile and calm down for a moment.

Bryce looked at the two in disbelief, unable to believe what he was seeing. "Are you serious? Wendy, you'd choose this skinny-ass loser over me? What does he have that I don't?"

"Even if that was true, I'd still choose Patrick over you any day," Wendy said, furious that Bryce called Patrick a loser. She let go of Patrick's arm and started walking up to him, making Bryce back away with a look of concern. "What he does have over you is the right stuff. He's handsome, brave, funny, and most of all, he cares about me and does everything in his power to be the best boyfriend he can be! And that's more than you ever did!"

"Patrick is my boyfriend! I love him, and I'll never get back together with you again. Do I make myself clear?" Wendy's voice got low in a threatening tone.

Normally, this would have gotten the message to a normal person and made them back off. However, Bryce wasn't a normal guy and became enraged. "You little bitch!" He yelled and swung his fist to punch her.

Only for his fist to be caught by Patrick's hand, before it could have made contact with Wendy. With strength the jock didn't think he had, the Pines teenager forced Bryce's fist away from the redhead's face. "You really shouldn't have done that."

With his other hand, he grabbed Bryce's wrist and twisted his hand hard. The ex-boyfriend yelled in pain as he was brought down to his knees when Patrick kicked them out from under him. Now having him on the ground, Patrick held the jock's wrist at a painful angle.

"You gonna stop harassing my girlfriend?"

"Y-Yes!"

"You gonna leave her alone!?"

"Yes! Yes! I will!"

Patrick released his wrist and Bryce quickly ran off and left the group. Wendy walked over to her boyfriend and grasp his hand and laid her head on his shoulder. Once again, her shield protected her. "Thank you," she whispered.

"Any time, babe," Patrick said, kissing her on her head.

"Man, how did you even date that guy, Wendy?" Mabel asked with a frown. But then she started to worry again about her future high school experience. "I hope my first high school boyfriend never ends up like him."

"Trust me, Mabel, I'll teach you everything you need to know about dating and knowing the right guys to date," Wendy said with a cool smile. With her experience in dating, she was an expert and would teach Mabel what to look for in a guy and what not to.

The four friends walked over to Soos' truck and hopped in. But as Mabel buckled herself in, she looked out the window and saw the school's marquee board.

Now it read "NO ESCAPE."

Their first stop was Grenda's house. As Soos parked the car, Mabel jumped out and ran over to the house as Patrick and Wendy got out too. They stayed back and watched as Mabel knocked on her front door.

Grenda opened the door and was pleasantly surprised to see Mabel. "Oh hi, Mabel! You're just in time for our 1 o'clock boy talk," she asked as she came outside with her lizard on her shoulder. Candy was also there and came out to greet her friend.

"If you think that's good…" Mabel pulled out one of her flyers and showed it to the girls. It showed Dipper and Mabel bursting out of a yellow and blue cake with the number thirteen on it. "Boom! Me and Dipper's 13th birthday jam!"

However, instead of showing excitement and joy for Mabel's birthday, Grenda and Candy looked sad and apologetic. "Aw, man. Your birthday's on the last day of summer? I'm not gonna be here."

"What?" Mabel gasped in shock.

"Marius is flying me out to Austria to hang out in his castle or whatever that week. He's so clingy!" Grenda said, talking about her boyfriend from the Northwest party.

"You're gonna be out of town for my birthday?" Mabel asked in distraught before turning to Candy. "But at least you can come, right, Candy?"

"Sorry, Mabel. My parents send me to music camp this time of year," Candy said, looking at her friend with the same apologetic expression as Grenda. Then her expression turned to a look of horror. "There is no escape from music camp."

"So neither of you are gonna be at my birthday party? And you won't be able to wish me goodbye at the end of the summer?" Mabel asked as despair started to settle in. Grenda and Candy were her best friends. They were her people here in Gravity Falls. They were there for her when she needed girls to talk to and were there when she needed real friends. It broke her heart to know that they wouldn't be there for her on her big day.

"I'm sorry, Mabel," said Candy as she and Grenda joined together to give Mabel a hug. This only made it harder for Mabel to hold back the tears.

"Summer happened so fast," Grenda said. Her phone then rang and she looked at it and saw it was her boyfriend. "Ugh, Marius! Now's not the time!" Nonetheless, she answered it.

Mabel pulled away from Candy and said, "I think I need to radio for emotional back-up." As she walked back to the truck and her cousin, she pulled out her walkie-talkie. Dipper, please come in. Our party mission is going down in flames. Over." However, much to her dismay, all that was heard on the walkie-talkie was static.

The young girl sighed sadly as Patrick and Wendy walked over and placed comforting hands on each of her shoulders. Having heard the girls talking, they knew that Mabel needed support more than ever right now.

When they returned to the Mystery Shack, Patrick and Wendy were sitting on both sides of Mabel in the attic. They watched as the young girl looked through her scrapbooks, as Waddles laid on the floor next to her. "It'll be okay," Patrick said, but it was no use. "You'll still have a good birthday

"It's not about the birthday, Patrick. I always thought growing up would be an adventure. But none I know that it's just a terrible experience," Mabel said miserably as she laid her head down on the scrapbook.

The door opened and Patrick looked up to see Stan and Veronica walking into the room. They heard all about what happened and knew that Mabel was in a really down mood. So, they agreed to come up and try to cheer her up.

"Hey, everything all right, pumpkin?" Stan asked.

"Just can't believe the summer's almost over," Mabel said as the two elders walked over and sat down with her and the two teens. "And now that I know how awful high school's going to be, I'm in no hurry to start that train wreck. I mean, just look at what it did to Patrick."

"Hey!"

"Mabel, I'm sorry for what I said," Wendy said, rubbing the back of her neck. "High school's no walk in the park, but it's not all bad. You've got fun stuff like plays, clubs, and even some field trips."

"But then there's also the really bad stuff like bad high school romance. Just like that Bryce guy."

"Who's Bryce," Veronica asked Patrick.

"Wendy's ex," Patrick said.

"Oh."

"Bryce is an asshole, Mabel. It was a mistake to date him, but you don't have to make the mistakes that I made," Wendy said, trying to cheer her up.

"Nobody likes gettin' older," Stan said as he warped his arm around her shoulder. "But just because you're growing doesn't mean you have to grow up, you know? I mean, look at me. I'm pushin' seventy and I still eat ice cream for dinner."

"Stan's right. It's all about how you want to grow up that counts," Veronica said with a smile.

"But I don't wanna say goodbye to Gravity Falls," Mabel said, leaning her head on Stan.

"Honestly, I'm not really ready to either, Mabel," Patrick said, looping his arm around Wendy and pulling her into a half hug. Patrick didn't want to leave Wendy, but there's nothing they can do to stop what's coming. That's why they agreed on a long-distance relationship. Even so, they still weren't looking forward to being far away from one another.

Stan turned Mabel to face him. "At least whatever happens after this summer, you'll still have your brother along with you through thick and thin. Not everyone can say that, you know," he said, referring to his fractured relationship with his brother.

"So long as Dipper and you are together, you can take on the future as a team," Veronica stated, petting Mabel's head as the young girl finally smiled. Cheering up from all the supportive words given to her by her family.

As Stan left with one last smile, Wendy turned to Mabel and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Listen, I'm going to find the guys and I'm going to make sure they're coming to your party, Mabel. You have my word your birthday will not suck," she said with a confident grin. Wendy then got up and ran out of the room. Determined to complete her mission and make Mabel's birthday awesome.

"So, are you feeling better?" Patrick asked as he and Veronica gathered around Mabel.

After giving him a nod, Mabel hugged him and said, "Thanks for coming with us to Gravity Falls, Patrick."

Patrick smiled and hugged her back. "You're welcome, Mabel," he said, rubbing her back. Veronica watched the two with a happy smile. Glad to see her great-niece return to her normal self.

"And you and Stan were right, Graunt Veronica." Mabel let go of Patrick and picked up a picture of Dipper from the day they went fishing. "At least when I go home I always have Dipper. Good ol', reliable ol'-"

All of a sudden, her walkie-talkie began to crackle. They looked over at the backpack leaning against the wall. On the radio, they faintly heard Dipper's voice. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Ford said.

"Let's get you out of there."

"Sounds like they're in trouble," Patrick said, walking over and picking up the walkie-talkie. He was about to call Dipper to see what's going on when Ford started talking. What he said would shock everyone listening.

"Listen to me, Dipper: this town is a magnet for things that are special. And that includes you and me. It brought both of us here for a purpose! Stay here with me, Dipper. Become my apprentice. Don't let anyone hold you-" Ford stopped to cough.

Patrick shook his head and looked at Veronica and Mabel. Stay with Ford? Dipper becoming his apprentice? Just what the hell was going on? All they were supposed to do was get the adhesive. That's it. Why was Ford asking Dipper to stay?

"I'll do it; I'm gonna stay."

"What?" Patrick whispered in shock when he heard Dipper say that.

"Excellent. Now, who wants to save the world, apprentice?"

After that, all they heard was the two laughing together and the walkie-talkie making static noises. Patrick turned off their walkie-talkie and shook his head in disbelief. "Motherfucker…"

Veronica sighed and shook her head. But then she noticed Mabel, as Waddles tried to get her attention. The young girl was looked down, with her hair shadowing over her eyes, and her hands trembling as they held the photo.

"Mabel?"

Mabel sniffled and said in a low voice, "I need to be alone."

Patrick looked sadly at her and wanted to stay and comfort her. He looked at his grandmother and she shook her head. He sighed and nodded. "Okay, Mabel."

He picked up Waddles and walked out of the room. The pig didn't want to leave, so Patrick had to hold him tightly to keep him from jumping out of his arms. Veronica followed and closed the door. Leaving Mabel to be alone in solitude.

When Dipper came back to the Mystery Shack with Ford, he was so excited to tell his sister and cousin everything that happened today. Today's been the best day of his life. Not only did he spend the day with the author, but he also just accepted his offer to be his apprentice. It was like a dream come true for the young adventurer.

He was about to run upstairs when he noticed Patrick sitting in the living room with a sour look on his face. "Patrick! I just had the best day of my life! UFOs are real and there's one under the town and I saved Great-uncle Ford's life and- and…" Dipper stopped when Patrick stopped up and glared down at him.

"Oh, I know, you little bastard! I heard it all!" Patrick said, walking towards his cousin with an enraged look in his eyes. Startling Dipper.

"Whoa, whoa, what's going on?" Ford asked, walking into the room to see just what all the yelling was about.

"You know exactly what's going on!" Patrick reached into his back pocket and pulled out the walkie-talkie. He held it up as it emitted static. Dipper gasped as he took off his backpack and saw his walkie-talkie was still on.

"You…"

"We heard it all, Dipper," Patrick confirmed as he glared at his cousin. "Myself, Veronica, and especially Mabel."

Dipper's eyes widened as a look of guilt across his face. He looked at Ford, who looked away, ashamed. Turning back, Dipper asked, "Where…Where is she?"

"She's been upstairs for the past two hours," Veronica said as she walked back into the room. She scowled at Dipper with a look of disappointment. "If you want to make things right between you and your sister, I suggest you do it now. Your great uncle and I are going to have a talk."

"I-I don't think we'll have time for-AH! Hey!" Ford was suddenly grabbed by the ear.

"Who said it was up for discussion!" Veronica snapped as she pulled him away. Ford continued to protest, but there was no use in resisting. Dipper watched as his idol was pulled off into another room. He looked at Patrick who turned and started walking out of the room and back upstairs. Dipper followed him.

Patrick opened the door and pointed inside sternly. Dipper walked over and looked inside. He saw Mabel lying on her bed, curled in a ball, with her back to him unmoving. She didn't even move when the door opened.

Gulping down the lump in his throttle, Dipper tossed his bag next to hers and walked up to Mabel. "Mabel, are you okay?"

"Tell me it's not true, Dipper. Tell me you were joking," Mabel said, sitting up and facing her brother. She held back her tears as she spoke to him. "Ford's apprentice? Seriously?"

Dipper sighed and looked away. "Look, I was thinking and…"

"You're really serious about this, aren't you?" Patrick asked, appalled at his cousin. "You're actually going to stay and become Ford's apprentice."

"Yes! This is a huge opportunity for me," Dipper said.

"Well it's a horrible opportunity for me!" Mabel cried, no longer able to contain her broken heart as she started sobbing. This startled Dipper. Climbing off her bed, she walked away from them, as her tears flowed down her face. "I had the worst day of my life! When we turn thirteen, the summer ends, and I have to leave everything behind. Patrick is going to have to leave us when we get back. You're the only person I can count on and now you're leaving me too!?"

"Look, I've been thinking about it. I won't be gone forever, okay? I'll still visit Mabel at home, and we'll chat online; we'll make it work."

"I don't want it to work," Mabel tearful said. She dropped down, sat on the floor, and opened a scrapbook. "I just wish summer could last forever."

Dipper walked over to her and put his arm on her. "But it can't, Mabel. Look, things aren't gonna stay frozen this way. It's part of growing up. Things change. Summer ends," he said, trying to reason with her.

"Are you even hearing yourself?" Patrick asked as if Dipper had truly lost his mind. "You're abandoning your family, your friends. What about school? Are you really going give up on your future just so you can spend your entire teens cooped up in a basement with a lab coat?"

"Ford has 12 PHDs! He could give me an education that no one else could," Dipper insisted as a frown appeared on his face. He stood up to face his cousin. "I have to stay, Patrick! Ford and I have important work to do. Work that can save the world."

"Dipper, you're not some world-renowned adventurer. You're a 12-year-old boy. You're a kid!"

"And by next week, I'll be a teenager!" Dipper snapped, frustrated that he had to keep justifying his decision to his cousin and Mabel. All his life, he's had to give up on the things that he wanted for Mabel's sake. But not this time. "Meaning I'm going to be able to make my own decision. My own choices without someone always telling me to think about Mabel. Do you have any idea how suffocating it is that I have to always make sacrifices for Mabel because she's too stupid to face reality?!"

Dipper gasped and covered his mouth, horrified at what he just said. Patrick's eyes widened in shock. Mabel looked at her brother with mouth gape and her eyes widened as she stared at him.

The boy twin turned to her to see her body trembling as more tears built up in her eyes. "No, wait, Mabel. I didn't mean it like that! That came out wrong," he said, trying to retract his outburst, but it was too late. With her heart now broken in two, she darted up from the ground and dashed for the door

"Mabel, come back!" Patrick called out, but it was no us. Mabel grabbed her bag and ran out of the room, crying her eyes out. Patrick ran to the bedroom door and stopped as he heard her run down the stairs.

"Mabel, wait!" Dipper yelled, trying to run after, but he was stopped when Patrick shoved him back. Making him fall onto the floor. "What are you doing? I've got to go after her!"

Patrick stared down at his cousin with such contempt. "I think you've done enough, Mason," he said, using Dipper's real name. "Well, I guess I must congratulate you. You wanted to become just like Ford, and you've done it. You've successfully pushed your twin sibling and everyone who cared about you away. I hope you're happy."

Turning his back on Dipper, Patrick ran down the stairs to try and catch up to Mabel. Leaving Dipper in a state of distraught and unimaginable guilt as he thought about was what he's done.

When Mabel ran into the woods crying, she didn't stop until she was far away from the Shack. Away from Ford and Dipper. As the orange sky of the setting sun bathed the woods around her, it created dark shadows and a cool wind that stung Mabel's exposed skin. But she didn't care. She didn't care about anything at that moment. When she finally stopped, Mabel sat under a large pine tree.

Needing to cheer herself up, Mabel took off her backpack and opened it. "Only party chocolate can cheer me up now," she mumbled as she looked inside. However, what she saw wasn't her chocolate or anything that she packed that day. What she did see were nerd books, chewed-up pens, and a certain glowing, cracking object. "The rift? Ugh, wrong backpack. Not fair." With a look of absolute misery, Mabel pulled her sweater over her head and legs. Going into her Sweatertown mode. "I just wish summer could last forever."

"That might be possible!" said a stranger's voice that echoed through the woods.

"Sweatertown is not accepting incoming calls right now."

"M-M-M-Mabel, it's me," the voice said again. But this time the voice seemed oddly familiar. Pulling down her sweater from her head, Mabel looked around for the source of the voice.

"What? Who said that?" she asked.

"I-I-I can help." Walking out of the trees and adjusting his camouflage suit was the time traveler Blendin. The former enemy of Patrick approached Mabel with a smile on his face.

"The time travel guy?" Mabel asked, confused as to why he was here. "What are you doing here?"

"You said you don't want summer to end, right? D-did-did I hear that right?" Blendin asked with his usual stutter.

"Yeah... why are you asking?" Mabel asked cautiously.

"Look, maybe it's against the rules, but your cousin once did a favor for me, so I thought I could help him out by helping you. It's called a time bubble, and it prevents time from going forward. Summer in Gravity Falls can last as long as you want it to!"

The mention of summer ending almost made Mabel cry again, but she wiped away the tears and held herself together. "R-Really? But how does it work?"

"I just need you to get a little gizmo for me from your uncle." Blendin held up his wristwatch as it displayed a holographic projection of the rift. "It's something small. He won't even know it's missing."

"The rift?" Mabel asked in shock. She looked at the bag and pulled it to herself with her leg. "Why do you want the rift?"

"That rift is far too dangerous to be left in one man's hands," Blendin said in a serious tone. "Time-Baby has foreseen it. The adhesive that your uncle's going to use on it, it'll make the crack worse and when it does, the results will be catastrophic."

"But Grunkle Ford said to never let it fall into the wrong hands," Mabel said, grabbing the bag and hugging it to her chest.

"Are you really going to listen to him? After all, he wants to take Dipper away from you. He's lied to you about the rift. He was never going to tell you about it. Ford's been trying to tear you and Dipper apart from the beginning. Do you really want that? In the time bubble, you and he would never have to separate."

The more he talked, the more Mabel's resolve started to dwindle. Was he telling the truth? Was all this just to get Dipper away from her. It all seemed too wild to be true. Then again, Ford never was going to tell her about the rift.

"Patrick…"

"Patrick would thank you!" Blendin insisted. "He doesn't want to leave his girlfriend. You'd be keeping them together. You could stay together with everyone for as long as you want." Mabel looked into the bag and stared at the rift.

"Ford, you can't be serious!" Veronica yelled at her stubborn cousin in his lab. He was walking around, getting things ready for the rift. "You're not taking Dipper as your apprentice."

"Yes, I am, Veronica. I want him to stay and become my apprentice," Ford said with a frown.

"But what about Mabel and Patrick? What are they going to do without him?" Veronica asked.

"Patrick's not Dipper's sibling, so he'll go back home. Mabel will be fine," Ford insisted. "In the weeks that I've known her, she became pen pals with the pizza delivery man in the few sentences that he was here."

Veronica frowned at him and then asked, "Then didn't you offer her to become your apprentice?"

Ford paused what he was doing. He faced Veronica with a look of confusion. "What?"

"If you really have that much confidence in Mabel, then why didn't you offer her the position too?" Veronica repeated herself as she glared at Ford.

"W-Well, it just never occurred to me…"

"And what about Patrick? He's more than capable. Yet, you didn't offer him the same thing."

"I-I would have!" Ford said.

"No, you wouldn't. You're too stubborn to do that after Patrick revealed the rift to Mabel. And don't deny it, Ford. Ever since Patrick made you tell us about the rift, you've been neglecting him and Mabel. "Even though you know, in your soul, what he did was right," Veronica stated as she stared into Ford's eyes. "You've been playing favorites with Dipper ever since the infinite-sided die incident."

"That…That's not true," Ford lied, turning away. But he'd have to be a fool to not know that. Yes, he knew he was neglecting Patrick and Mabel since then and yes, he did start to think that what Patrick did was the right thing. If what Dipper said was any indication about secrets, it's that they hurt their family more than they do good. Yes, he's been playing favorites with the cousins and has chosen Dipper to spend the most time with.

"You see so much of yourself in that boy, don't you? So much that you want him to take the same path as you," Veronica said, shaking her head. "Don't you see what's happening, Ford? Those kids are us. They're all just like the three of us. Patrick is me, Dipper is you…and Mabel's Stan."

Ford's hardened expression softened a bit.

"You see it, don't you? You know that I'm right. So tell me, are you really going to let what happened to us be the same fate as those kids?" Veronica asked her cousin and then waited for him to answer her. However, Ford remained stubbornly silent.

That's when the elevator door opened and Dipper with his head down as he dragged the backpack on the ground. The two adults turned to him.

"Let me guess: Mabel didn't take it well?" Ford asked, already knowing the answer.

"Yeah…and I said some…awful things to her," Dipper said, sniffling and wiping his face. The guilt of what he said continued to weigh heavily on his heart.

"Dipper…" Veronica walked over to him and kneeled down. She placed her hands on his shoulders and looked him straight in the eyes. "Are you absolutely sure this is what you want? Don't let Ford influence your decision. Do you really want to stay?"

"I-I don't know, maybe I'm making the wrong decision," Dipper admitted. Before his fight with Patrick and Mabel, Dipper wouldn't have thought twice about saying yes. But that was then and this is now. "I need to think about this."

"You can think about it later, Dipper. Right now we need to focus on the mission," Ford said, trying to push Veronica's words and keep Dipper focused on what's really important. "Now come on, I've got the glue; hand me the rift and let's make history."

Dipper smiled and nodded. Walking around Veronica, he reached into the bag and pulled out the first thing he grabbed. Which wasn't the rift, but one of Mabel's birthday flyers and some streamers. "What?" Dipper gasped. "Oh no! The RIFT!"

Back in the woods, Mabel reached into Dipper's backpack and pulled the rift out. She stared at the blob floating around inside the containment device as its glow shone on her face in a soft light. "And you're sure it'll be safe?" She asked with last minute hesitation.

"Yes, of course!" Blendin exclaimed. His forehead was dripping with sweat droplets as he barely contained his excitement. "Just hand it over and I'll do my thing. Unless you're ready to leave Gravity Falls."

Not too far away, Patrick was running through the woods in a panic as he tried to find Mabel. Worried about her safety, the black-haired teen refused to give up the search and pressed on. "Mabel!" He called out, praying for a response. A shout. Cry. Anything to let him know where she was.

He hated himself. This wasn't supposed to be how it happened. How could he let things get like this? He was supposed to keep them together, but now they were falling apart.

Running out into a clearing, Patrick stopped and looked around to see if she was there. That's when he saw his cousin with the rift in her hands ."Mabel," Patrick said in relief before he noticed Blendin standing right in front of her. "Blendin?"

"Just a little more summer," Mabel said, looking at the rift, before facing up at Blendin.

"Mabel…?" Patrick asked, before what happened next.

Standing up, Mabel reached out her arms. Offering the rift to Blendin. Patrick watched as a wide, almost insidious-looking grin spread across the time traveler's face as he grabbed the rift from her. Suddenly, Ford's warning from this morning rang in the teenager's head.

That's when Patrick's face shifted from a look of confusion to that of absolute terror.

"STOP!" Patrick charged as fast as he could towards them.

Mabel's eyes widened as she looked at Patrick running at her. As for Blendin…

"Oops."

With carelessness and mockery, Blendin dropped the rift's containment onto the earth and stomped on it, breaking it completely.

"NNNOOOOOOOOOO!" Patrick yelled at the top of his lungs with all the shock, horror, and terror within his soul. Skidding to a stop next to Mabel, he stared at the shattered pieces of the glass containment orb. It was the only thing that prevented Bill from getting into the world and keeping them safe. Just like, in the blink of an eye, it was gone.

Shaking in utter terror, Patrick looked at his cousin in shock. "Mabel? What the fuck are you doing?!" He yelled as the wind around them started to pick up and leaves flew through the air.

"I-I didn't...I'm sorry!" Mabel cried as she looked at the rift in terror.

That's when Blendin started laughing at them in a mocking way. Patrick pulled Mabel back behind him as he stood in front of her. Blendin's laughter turned into a blend of hysterical and maniacal glee before he reached up and grabbed his goggles.

Revealing the wide, insane eyes of Bill Cipher as the demon's laugh replaced Blendin's

"Oh no! Wait, wait wait!" Mabel shouted, desperately wanting to take it all back. But it was too late.

Bill snapped fingers.

Patrick's body was hit with an unseen force, but he didn't go down. Nor did he experience any pain. Because at that moment, Patrick's body was covered by a magical shield covered in mysterious protective runes and symbols. It bloomed around the teenager before fading back into invisibility.

Confused, Patrick looked around his body, before seeing his belt and the line of unicorn hair glowing on it. "The unicorn hair," he said in relief. He was protected against Bill!

But a sudden thud made him turn around. His heart sank when he saw Mabel laying on the ground, unconscious.

"MABEL!" Patrick screamed as he quickly picked her up in his arms. He tried shaking her awake, all the while desperately yelling at her. "Mabel?! Mabel! Wake up!"

Bill's laughter brought his attention back to the demon. Blendin's body contorted unnaturally before Bill burst from his chest in a bright flight of light. Leaving the time traveler unconscious on the ground beneath him. Reality around the three of them flickered from the grayscale of the mindscape to the normal colors of reality. The situation hit Patrick like a freight train when the flickering stopped on colors.

Bill was in their world.

"At last! At long, long last! The gateway between worlds has opened! The event one billion years prophesized has finally come to pass! The day has come!" Bill cheerfully shouted with insane glee as he flew up into the air. His words echoed all around the forest. "THE WORLD IS FINALLY MINE!"

With Mabel still being held tightly in his arms, Patrick stared up at Bill with terror, before the containment orb started to sparkle and smoke. Before a beam of energy shot into the sky. Patrick pushed himself and Mabel away from the object as it destroyed itself from the burst. Bill's laughter made Patrick turn his head upwards

Behind the demon, the rift tore the fabric of reality apart. Ripping the sunset sky into a giant portal in the shape of an X that only grew bigger. Within the rift was the Nightmare Realm, a surreal unstable void filled with swirling shades of dark purple, red, and yellow almost like a lava lamp.

All over town, everyone looked on worriedly as the sky literally slipped itself apart. . Wind blows. Back at the Mystery Shack, Dipper, Ford, and Veronica run out of the house before they looked up in fear at what they saw

"What's going on?! What is that?!" Dipper yelled, pointing at the portal between worlds. The small rocks all around them lifted up into the air.

"We're too late!" Ford exclaimed. "It's the end of the world."

As Patrick watched Bill rise up, cackling maniacally, all he could do was elicit one response. "What have we done?"

This is the way the world ends. But this is not the end of the story.
