Link looked towards where the voice came from and as she came out of the shadows his jaw dropped. It was Midna, but she had again been turned into her cursed form.
"Midna, how is it possible"?! he asked in shock.
"Oh, it really has been a long day, and there's no time to explain right now. We need to get out of here and find Zelda, then I can explain. By the way, who is your fox friend over here"? she asked.
"I'm Linkle, a friend of Link. I was also transformed by the Twilight. Are you really Princess Midna"? she asked excitedly.
"Yes, now both of you hold still, I'm going to break the chains", and as she finished she used her magic to break the chains on Linkle first, but the chains on Link wouldn't break. "Dang it, Zant must have figured out how we escaped last time," she said angrily. "Linkle, you're in the same cell that Link was in before, there is a place where you can dig under the cell door" she continued. Linkle did what she was told.
"But what about Link?" she asked with concern.
"I'm not sure, but the guards will make their rounds soon, we need to be quick whatever we do" said Midna.
"Never mind me Midna, I'll be fine. Go with Linkle, and find a way to get me out of here. I can't lose you again, but I can sense great promise in her." said Link sadly.
"I can't just leave you here though, they'll do who knows what, to you" said Midna, almost tearing up.
"Just go Midna, I've been through this before. I will be ok" he said reassuringly. After he said that, Midna had no choice but to go. She reluctantly climbed onto Linkle back, and they snuck their way out of the dungeons".
After making it out of the dungeons, they came onto the roof of Hyrule Castle. Linkle gasped at the sight of the veil of Twilight covering everything.
"What do we do now"? she asked Midna.
"Well, I think we should look for Princess Zelda. I have a few ideas about where she might be." said Midna recalling old memories.
"What about my friend Sheik? I think he could help us too, he is a very strong Shekiah warrior" exclaimed Linkle.
"Well, I don't know what happened to your friend, but from the looks of it, he escaped from that empty cell." Midna said encouragingly. After that Linkle felt hopeful, and they went off in search of both Zelda and Sheik.
They followed the roof of the Castle into one of the towers. They looked around for any guards, and finding none, they went up the stairs to the top of the tower. There they found the door slightly ajar. As they entered, they found a hooded figure gazing out the window. The cloak had the symbol of the Shekiah. The figure slowly turned around and lowered their hood. Both Midna and Linkle gasped as they saw who it was. It was Princess Zelda, but she was not quite herself. She wore Sheik's clothes, one of her eyes was red, and half of her hair was short and blonde.
"I can explain.." she said trailing off, but her voice seemed to have two pitches at once. One was her own voice, but the other was much lower and sounded like a man.
"That's right Princess, you have a lot of explaining to do" said Midna.
"Or should I say Sheik" said Linkle angrily. Zelda hung her head guilty, opened her mouth, and began her story.
