"Yes Linkle, I am Sheik. I'm very sorry that I never told you. Please don't be mad, but I had very good reasons for it. When you were found by Ilia that day, I was there. Ilia and I were walking in the marketplace and discussing her engagement to Shad. Ilia heard crying coming from an alleyway and ran toward you. I followed her, and when I had caught up to her, she was already cradling you in her arms and singing a lullaby. I immediately looked around for any sign of your parents, but they were nowhere to be found. We decided to care for you for the time being. I never told anyone else, but I sensed something in you that I have only seen in one other person. Somehow, I could feel the Triforce of Courage in you. I knew that you needed to be protected, and that it would be best if I became that protector. I needed a disguise though, so I could sneak out of the castle and not have you question me. I used my Triforce of Wisdom to recreate a disguise that one of my past incarnations used. It had even fooled the Hero of Time and Ganondorf. I made up a story, and came to you one night. I taught you to fight, and I trained with you. I got to be very close to you, and would sometimes even feel like you were my own daughter. Trust me, I was going to tell you, but Ursula got in the way. Then, the Twilight came, and I immediately recognized it. I knew that I would be fine in the Twilight, thanks to Zant's curse, but Ursula would be turned into a soul. I wasn't sure what would happen to you, but I wanted to keep you as safe as possible. So, we ran. I tripped, and I should've told you to leave me, you didn't need to be involved in all this. I didn't though, and you came back for me. When we got knocked unconscious I couldn't keep the disguise on, and I became myself again. I woke up first, and I managed to escape my chains. I tried to reapply my disguise, but something happened to my Triforce, and so only half of the disguise works. That's why I look like this. I've already tried to undo it, but it seems as if I'm stuck like this for the time being. I know this is a lot to take in, but can you please tell me where Link is? Why isn't he with you?" After Zelda finished her long explanatory monologue, she gave the two a moment for everything to sink in. After a long pause Midna spoke.
"Link is still in the dungeons. They have strengthened his chains since last time."
"Why did you just leave us there? I trusted you, and this whole time you were lying to me"! said Linkle angrily.
"Linkle, I know you feel betrayed, but it was just the way things had to be. I left you because I knew you could escape on your own, plus you were unconscious" said Zelda. There was another pause of silence as Linkle began to understand. She hadn't quite completely forgiven Zelda yet, but she was on better terms with her. During this time, Midna was uncharacteristically silent.
"Midna what's the problem?, you usually aren't so quiet" stated Zelda. Midna looked up, she had been lost in thought about one of the things that Zelda had said. Linkle had been found right after she had departed for the Twilight Realm, and in a Castle Town alley.
"Could it be…?" she mumbled.
"What was that Midna"? Linkle asked.
"Oh, nothing…I was just lost in thought" Midna answered. The three were all clueless for what to do about their situation.
"Aren't people looking for you Zelda"? asked Linkle.
"Yes, and that is why we need to leave now. I hate to leave Link here, but I think I have an idea about what to do. Midna, can you teleport us to Faron?" asked Zelda.
"Yeah, but why?" asked Midna.
"Just trust me, please" said Zelda. So, Midna teleported them to Faron, and Link was left behind in the dungeons.
