Ivena sat in a crossed leg position on the floor. Her eyes closed in concentration. Her pale face was framed by her long red hair. Dark circles were under her eyes from a lack of sleep. She slightly shivered from her lack of warm clothing. She was wearing her usual black Twili top and matching skirt painted with the symbol of the Twili. She also wore her traditional Twili cloak. Anyone who saw her could easily mistake her for her slightly older twin sister. The floor was that of a Twili shrine, and it was intricately decorated with patterns and designs. Lit candles formed a circle around her, and after hours of meditating, they were burning low. Ivena's concentration was broken as someone walked through the door. Ivena opened her eyes and got up from the floor. As she turned to face the visitor, a gust of wind blew out the candles. Standing in the doorway was her twin sister Princess Midna.
"Meditating again"? she asked
"Yes," Ivena answered irritatingly. "Ever since I had that vision, mysterious voices have been trying to reach me".
"Will you please stop with all that vision and voices in your head mumbo jumbo! The people are concerned, and I'm concerned. You've secluded yourself and you haven't been at any of the public events. So, I've decided to intervene. I've got you a blind date." Midna exclaimed
"You what"?! Ivena shouted in disgust and surprise.
"I got you a blind date. You need someone else in your life besides me and those voices in your head" Midna finished
"I don't need a blind date Midna, and I have devoted my time to prayer, study, and meditation. I no longer have the time for these frivolous things." As Ivena finished she stormed out of the shrine. She made her way to her study in the Palace of Twilight. On the way she received looks and glances from other Twili. Ivena kept her eyes on the ground to avoid their eyes, and in doing so wasn't looking where she was going. She bumped into someone and she quickly turned her head up to yell at whoever had bumped into her. "Watch where you're going Sir"! She yelled at the man, but quickly regretted it as she saw that it was Zant. A look of fear crossed her face and she ran the rest of the way to her study. She almost ran into several of the Palace servants, but once she came to her study she slammed and locked the door behind her. Ivena's study looked similar to the rest of the Palace of Twilight, and had the same walls and flooring, but there were also several differences. The room had a board on a wall with several scraps of paper and images pinned to it. The pins were connected by long and complicated strings. Below the board was a large black desk, and scattered upon it were several scrolls and ancient Twili texts. In the far corner of the room was her sleeping mat, which she hardly even used. Most of the time, she fell asleep while studying over the many papers on her desk. In her anger, Ivena pushed the papers off her desk and slammed her fist down. She cried back in pain and quickly realized her stupidity.
"What makes her think that she has the right to rule my life and make my decisions for me" she thought, "I am so close to discovering so many things, but every time I'm close to a breakthrough, she has to go and intervene. It's almost like she doesn't want me to discover anything". Ivena rubbed her temples in frustration, but her thoughts were interrupted as footsteps echoed through the room. This was strange though, since she was sure she had locked the door. Ivena turned around and she gasped as two men appeared behind her. The first appeared to be Zant, but his face was covered by a creepy helmet. The second was not a Twili, and was clad in a red cloak. In his hands was a blue instrument with a silver band. Upon the silver band was a symbol made up of three golden triangles. The symbol looked familiar, but she couldn't recall where she had seen it before.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here"? said the mysterious man. "No, this can't beā¦the Twilight Princess's little sister" he continued maliciously. "Wouldn't she give so much to get you back child" he finished with an evil grin, followed by a flick of his tongue. A sword appeared in his hand in a small cloud of diamonds. He pointed it at her and motioned for Zant to grab her. Ivena held up her hands as if in surrender, and let Zant grab one of her arms, but she immediately kicked him in the one place a man never wants to be kicked. He fell down in pain, and Ivena quickly conjured a sword. The other man cackled with laughter.
"Looks like we have a feisty one. Do you really think you can challenge me?! Ha! I am the Demon Lord Ghirahim, very few who challenge me live to tell the tale"!
"I think I'll take my chances" replied Ivena, slightly short of breath.
"Well, you seem like a smart little girl, let's make a deal. If you agree to work for me, I will give you what you most deeply desire". As he finished he made a contract and knife appear on the desk. "All you have to do is sign this little insignificant blood contract" he finished. Ivena lowered her guard and stared at the contract. Could he really know her deepest desires? She began to walk over to the contract. The man's eyes followed her as she took the knife in her hand. She pretended to read the contract. Then, she readied the blade to scar her hand, but in the last second she turned and threw the knife in the man's direction. Instead of hitting it's target, the man stopped it midair and turned it's path towards her. The knife struck her in the stomach. She collapsed to the ground in shock and blood began to pour from the wound. Her hands went to the knife and she screamed in pain as she pulled out the knife.
"I knew this deal wouldn't work out." The man said as he began to pace around her, "Such a pity to spill the blood of a royal, but it is needed elsewhere" he finished.
Meanwhile, Zant finally recovered and got up from the floor. He slung Ivena over his shoulders and turned to the other man as he began to play a song on the mysterious instrument. A portal opened up and all three of them walked through.
Just a second too late, Midna arrived with the guards only to see her sister being carried off by the two men.
