Chapter 11: The Other Guy

"Thank you for sending me," said Yuya to Kyo but he did not respond.

Kyo got out of his car and walked towards the diner. Yuya halted her pace and looked at him, puzzled, wondering why had Kyo stopped by. "Is he still mad at me for what happened in the afternoon? I did apologize," she pondered. She brushed the thought off her mind and continued walking towards the diner's back door. She put her bag in the locker and put on her apron before heading towards the punch card machine. She paused for a while and peeked from the glass window to see where Kyo was. He was sitting down at a long table, lighting his cigarette. "Full of mysteries… and so very weird," she thought. Her mind was thinking about the gifts from Kyo that she got earlier today.

Yuya was startled by the hard tap on her back,"Yuya, you're back!" said Lilian, one of the quintuplets and sister to the owner Anri.

"Yeah Yuya, what happened to you? Shinrei told us that your building caught fire and you moved," Kirian caught up with the conversation. He was also one of the quintuplets. The other two boys were called Yurian and Erian, and the other sister was called Marian.

"Exactly what Shinrei said. My old place was burned down and I was sorting things out with college and my new job. Anri-san told me to take few days off to settle down and to come in when I'm ready," Yuya replied.

Kirian and Lilian were interrogating Yuya as if she was a criminal, but not as harsh as the cops but Yuya was having a hard time trying to keep the secret about living with Mibu Kyo. Yuya had a thought that maybe she needed to find a new place. Living with Kyo was just too awkward. She couldn't understand him. Sometimes he was evil, sometimes he was nice. He helped her many times but most of the time, he was always being a jerk. She peeked from behind the window again and saw that Kyo now had company. The same people that came to visit his house that night. Yuya felt the chill and her hands became sweaty. Her eyes were searching for Hotaru.

"Akira-san, Akari-san, Bontenmaru-san….Kyo…"she made the announcement in her heart and let out a sigh of relief.

"Yuya, can you help tend the table outside, and also someone's looking for you," said Marian with a cheeky smile pointing outside of the diner.

Yuya stopped wiping the tables and went out to find Shinrei on his superbike. She let out a relief sigh. She turned and looked at Kyo's table and he was looking at her. Her heart was smiling, not sure whether it was meant for Kyo or for Shinrei. She walked towards Shinrei, ignoring the fact that Kyo was looking at her. More like, staring at her.

"You came," she said hugging him. Reminding herself, it was a friendly hug, nothing more.

"Of course. You know I will come to you whenever you call," replied Shinrei.

" I just started my shift, but I'll come talk to you after I wait that table," said Yuya pointing at Kyo's table.

Shinrei looked at where Yuya was pointing and saw Kyo and his gang. "Do you know him?" he asked Yuya.

"Who?" Yuya replied at the same time running her brain on excuses to tell Shirei.

"That guy, the guy wearing the black long sleeves," Shinrei directing his eyes towards where Kyo was sitting.

"Why did you ask?" Yuya delaying the question.

"Because he was looking at you the whole time since you walked out the door until you came here," Shinrei answered with a little pissed tone.

"Oh… Ahahaha.. Shinrei, he must be looking at me because I was supposed to take their order, but I diverted here first. Okay, you go inside to your usual stall, I'll catch up soon okay," said Yuya pulling Shinrei's hand and ushering him towards the entrance of the diner.

Yuya walked towards Kyo's table.

"Hi Yuya-san," said Akira.

"Yuya-channnn~~ You sneaky little girl. And here I was worrying about Kyo and you living together. You never told us that you have a guy in your life already! 3" said Akari to Yuya.

"Yeah Jou-chan, you're better off with that guy than this one!" said Botenmaru while putting his hand over Kyo's shoulder. Kyo immediately twisted his hand and gave him "Do you want me to break this?" look.

"No, you're wrong! He's not my boyfriend," said Yuya defending herself. She looked at Kyo but he wasn't responding to any of the comments from his friends.

"But you were hugging him just now, didn't you?" said Akari.

"Akari, shut up and just order! Yuya-san, I'll have the Coke and Philly Cheese sandwich," said Akira.

"I'll have the Mega Cheeseburger. Make that two and beer please," said Bontenmaru.

"Caesar Salad for me please and Diet Coke. And you Kyo?" said Akari.

Kyo was silent.

"Umm.. nevermind him, he'll have whatever Bon is having but the normal size?" continued Akari, trying to break the silence.

"Okay.. I'll be back with your orders soon," said Yuya with a fake smile and walked back to the diner.

A still night for the 4 of them. Kyo was wondering about Yuya and Shinrei. Something that should not matter to him. However, the fact that it is Shinrei, he just felt like it wasn't right.

"Oi.. Kyo. Isn't that Shinrei who was with Yuya-chan?" Bontenmaru slipped it off his tongue.

"I believe so," said Kyo.

After a long night of chit-chatting, not Kyo of course, drinking and poking the drunk Bontenmaru, they decided to call it a night. The cheeky Akari was going to ask Kyo for a favour to drive him home, however he had to drive Bon's car and since Bon was temporarily converted into his beast mode. Akira on the other hand happily accepted the offer from Kyo for a ride home because, he didn't have driving license to drive Bon's car and he simply didn't want to be in the same car with Akari.

"Damn you little brat!" Said Akari screwing his fist on Akira's head.

Kyo walked in the diner to pay for the food and Akira waiting outside by Kyo's car. Yuya walked over to the counter to get Kyo's bill.

"You could just call me for the bill," said Yuya punching numbers on the register.

"Do you want me to pick you up later?" Kyo staring at her with a serious face.

"N.. No.. you don't have to. I'll take a cab or walk," said Yuya.

"Or let that guy send you?" Kyo looking at Yuya intensely. Yuya didn't reply. "Text me and I'll pick you up. Keep the change," he said firmly and left the diner.

Kyo went back to his father's place after he sent Akira home. Muramasa's place was nearer to where Yuya was working. He thought he would kill time at Muramasa's while waiting for Yuya to return home, or, to call him to pick her up, which was what he was hoping for. His head is in a mess and he always found serenity back at his father's place. However, he knew the real reason behind why he decided to come tonight was because, it has been a while since he "talked" to his mother.

Kyo parked his car next to Kyoshiro's and walked to the door. He hesitated for a bit, but he thought he needed to be here. The stairs creaked as he walked up to his room. He threw his keys on the bed and walked straight to the bathroom, took a cold shower and readied himself in a black kimono. He walked down the stairs to where his mother's altar was and kneeled down in front of her portrait.

"It's been a while, Mother," said Kyo.

"I hope you're doing great up there. I'm sorry I haven't said hi although sometimes I came over for dinner. I'm a bit troubled and my mind is in a mess. Well, I'm not complaining or anything. Just thought I should let you know what's going on with my life. Shima-bacchan left by the way. But I have a new servant. We got to know each other through a peculiar encounter. Maybe I'll spare that story for next time. Anyway, she's also my personal assistant in the office, and we're staying together. She lives in my house. That's what I mean. It's good to be able to talk to you like this..."

Kyo stopped talking in his heart and he just sat there with his head in his palms.

"Kyo, you're here?" said Kyoshiro.

Still had his hands covering his face, Kyo replied, "What do you want?"

"Oh nothing.. Just surprised that you're here. That's all," said Kyoshiro.

Kyo felt something was off with his brother. He wasn't all annoying and he didn't seem to be in a very good mood. Kyo brushed off the thought and got up from the floor. He walked to the kitchen and caught Kyoshiro gulping the milk right from the carton. He couldn't care less about what his brother was doing, however, this time he thought, he should say something to kill the silence.

"Chiyobacchan will nag you all day for that," Kyo, out of his character, started a conversation with Kyoshiro.

Kyoshiro who got caught by his brother, choked on the milk and sprayed it all over the kitchen counter. "You almost killed me Kyo!" said Kyoshiro, wiping the milk all over his face. "By the way, did you want to see dad? He was out with Shihoudou-san and Julian-san. Some urgent things to discuss, that's what he said."

"I was just trying to kill time while waiting for my servant to be done with her other part time job," replied Kyo as he walked towards the fridge to grab a cold drink.

"Yuya-san? Hmm.. so she has other part-time job as well? Are you not paying her enough?" said Kyoshiro.

"She said she needs funding. To search for the murderer of her brother. That woman, she should just quit her other job and focus on being my servant," replied Kyo. He did feel like he talked a lot tonight.

Kyoshiro chuckled quietly. "You're fond of her now."

"I'm not," Kyo retorted.

"I'm going upstairs. Goodnight. Been a long day for me," said Kyoshiro with a solemn face. Kyo kept his cool this time and let it all slipped. Something is bothering Kyoshiro and he knew it was something big.

Kyo was awaken by the vibration from his cellphone. It was a message from Yuya, telling him that she was done with work. He checked the time and it was almost 4:30am. He washed his face and walked downstairs to the living hall towards the front door.

Yuya was sitting at the bench with her eyes closed. She was exhausted and all she wanted to do was go to sleep. She felt bad that she had to lie to Shinrei about Anri sending her home. She heard the sound of a vehicle approaching where she was sitting and saw Kyo's car. She walked towards the Hummer and went in.

"Why are you wearing that?" Yuya asked.

Kyo just realized he forgot to change and was wearing the black Kimono from earlier. He was embarrassed but retorted back with "Because I can."

"Okay…" said Yuya only realizing that they were using a different route back to the loft. Kyo turned in the gate to Muramasa's.

"Umm.. where are we?" asked Yuya. Kyo got out of the vehicle and walked towards the door. Yuya stood in front of the car, puzzled.

"What are you doing there woman? Hurry and come in. It's cold. If you insist to stay there, be my guest. I'm sleepy and I'm locking the door," said Kyo.

"Woman?" thought Yuya. Kyo has been calling her Dogface since the first day they met. "That's an improvement," she thought. They walked up the stairs and Kyo showed her to the guest room.
