Linkle stumbled backwards and stared at her parents. Ursula splashed water on Link's face to wake him up, and all he could do was stare at Midna and Linkle.
"I think you three could use some privacy" Ivena said, and she left the spring with the monkeys and Ursula.
As soon as they left Midna ran to hug Linkle, but was stopped by Link.
"You didn't tell me that I had a daughter"! He yelled angrily.
"Well I was scared to tell you, and I couldn't take her home without explaining. I had a kingdom to take care of, and if my council found out I had a child with a light dweller they'd dethrone me! It's against the law to have children before marriage in the Twilight Realm, but you of all people wouldn't understand"! Midna yelled back.
"You could have at least given her to me instead of abandoning her in an alley"! Link continued.
"Do you know how to take care of a child"?! Midna continued.
"Well no, but I've been around the Ordon children enough to know a little. Plus, I could've gotten the villagers to help me. How could you think that I wouldn't care"?! Link questioned.
"Well, you have other girls that I assumed that you liked…" Midna trailed off.
"Who did you think I liked enough to abandon my own child"?! Link yelled back.
"Well there was that village girl Ilia, and then there was Zelda…" Midna went on.
"Ilia was my childhood best friend, she was only a crush. Also, what made you think I loved Zelda"? Link asked, starting to calm down.
"Well…" Midna stuttered.
The two were at a standstill.
"Do you have it out of your systems now"? Linkle asked politely.
"Yes," the two said in unison.
Link moved out of the way, and Midna hugged her newfound daughter.
"I just want you to know that I thought of you every day since I left you. I didn't want to make the decision I did, and I've regretted it my entire life" Midna said, bursting into tears again.
Link waited until Midna had calmed down to speak.
"I had no idea you were my daughter, but I have luckily been able to watch you grow. Somehow, I always had a feeling that you would grow up to be a warrior someday. Now I know why you resembled me so much, from your blond hair and blue eyes, to your fighting skills. Now that I can see the Midna side of you, I can truly understand why you're our daughter" Link stuttered.
Linkle didn't know what to think or say, so she ran.
She ran past the others who had been listening in on the conversation. They yelled after her, but she didn't care. She just kept running all the way to Ordon Spring where she collapsed. She burst into tears.
"Oh Ordona, why didn't you tell me this sooner. I've come here for years and yet you damned light spirits didn't tell me anything"! Linkle yelled angrily at the spring.
Ordona surfaced from the water.
"Be still child, for this is the way the Goddesses intended it to be. We understand it's hard to take in, but this doesn't change who you are. You're still Linkle from Castle Town, adopted daughter of Ilia and Shad. This discovery can only bring good. Your Twili half has awakened and with it the magic of the Twili. Your mother Midna and Aunt Ivena will help you learn to use it. However, if you wish to return to your original form, I can do that for now" Ordona explained in a soothing voice.
"I think I would like that for now" Linkle responded as she dried her tears.
Ordona disappeared back into the Spring, and when Linkle stood up, she realized she was her old self again. She jumped for joy and turned to head back to find the others, but was cut short when a figure appeared blocking the way.
"Why hello fox child, I couldn't help but listen to your conversation with the light spirit. I think I can show you how to use that magic of yours. You see, I'm your mothers head advisor. When she was little I taught her and her sister how to use their magic. It can be dangerous if not taught properly, so what do you say? Will you come with me" the man said with a grin.
"Come into the light so I can see you," Linkle said cautiously.
"Oh I'm afraid I can't do that. Unlike your mother and her sister, the rest of the Twili are stuck as shadows in the light world" the man explained.
Linkle drew her crossbows and began to back away.
"Why should I believe you"? Linkle asked.
"Only one small and insignificant reason. If you don't come willingly, I'm going to have to force you" the man said sinisterly.
He then stepped into the light and saw that it wasn't just one man, it was two. One she recognized as Zant from Link's stories of the Twilight invasion. The other she guessed was the Ghirahim that Link had mentioned, except he had black patches of skin on his arms and designs running up his leg and face. He almost looked like a Twili, but a very ugly one at that. He was missing the red cloak that Link had mentioned, but she knew that it didn't matter. She aimed her crossbows and fired an arrow at each of them, but they both used their magic to deflect them.
Just then, the others caught up and saw what was going on. They instantly drew their weapons and got their spells ready.
"You leave our daughter alone"! Shouted Link and Midna In unison.
"Oh how touchy, a family reunion. Too bad it won't last long" said Ghirahim with a chuckle.
Zant used Twilight barriers to cut off the others from Linkle and used a portal to summon Twilight beasts. Linkle tried to shoot them, but their skin was too thick, and they quickly overwhelmed her.
"No"! Cried a voice off to the side.
Linkle only had a second to see who it was before the Twilight beasts knocked her out. It had been Ilia who had come through the tunnel to see what the ruckus was about.
