Log 3: Vending Menace

Cover Image: Gwen and Ben were happily eating multiple candy bars. Ben was discarding the wrappings onto the floor, leaving Yukiko to clean up his mess.

"Ben, you'll spoil your dinner," Yukiko shook her head. She watched the smaller boy staring at the vending machine outside of the gas station. She noticed that he had been eyeing the candy inside of it the most.

He turned around to look at her. "Come on, Yukiko, it's not like I'm going to eat everything inside of it," He waved off her concerns.

"Yes, but if you eat too much of it then you won't have enough left for dinner," Yukiko explained to you.

"Ugh, you sound like my mom," Ben rolled his eyes.

"I'm sure your mother is a smart woman. You should listen to her more," Yukiko said, crossing her arms.

Ben shrugged his shoulders. "It'll just be one, Yukiko. Promise," Ben said.

"Promise? You wouldn't be lying to me, right Ben?" She leaned down to stare him in the eyes. He backed away a bit, intimidated by her stare.

"Nope! I've learned my lesson about breaking promises!" He quickly responded. She pulled away from him and nodded her head.

"Okay then, I'll allow one candy bar," Yukiko relented.

Ben grinned, relieved that he managed to convince her. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a quarter. "Cool! Then I'll just get my candy bar and we'll be on our way!" He inserted the quarter into the machine and pressed the button.

He rubbed his hands together as the coil unwrapped itself from the candy bar. However, it abruptly stopped before the bar could drop to the latch, the candy bar was stuck.

"Jammed!? That was my only quarter!" Ben gawked, putting his hands up against the glass.

Yukiko patted his head, feeling a bit bad for him. "Well, you win some and you lose some, Ben. Come on, you can wait to eat till dinner," She turned around to enter the Rustbucket.

FLASH!

"And of course, he did…" She deadpanned. Turning around, Yukiko saw that Gray Matter was crawling inside of the vending machine to get the candy bar. "Are you out of your mind!?" Yukiko exclaimed.

Gray Matter grabbed onto the coil that had entrapped the candy bar of his desires. "Nope, I'm perfectly sane. Maybe, it's you that's crazy," He replied, smartly.

"Benjamin Tennyson, it's just a candy bar!"

"Yes, but what kind of hero would I be if I left this poor bar of sweetness to be trapped forever," Gray Matter stood on top of the coil. The Galvin struck a heroic pose with his hands on his hips. Yukiko looked unimpressed.

"Ben, if you want a candy bar so bad, I'll just buy you one. Get out of there before something bad happens," Yukiko said.

"Please," He waved his hand and knocked the candy bar down to the latch. "What's the worst that could happen?"

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

"Oh."

FLASH!

"AGH!" Ben's face squished up against the vending machine, his body was also pushed up against the glass. Ben had gotten himself stuck inside of the vending machine. He chuckled nervously. "Uh…help?"

Yukiko knew she should be sighing in exasperation and finding a way to get him out, but she just couldn't help herself. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" She clutched her stomach as she laughed at his predicament.

Ben gave her a deadpan stare. "Yeah yeah, Ben got what he deserved. Can you get me out now?" He asked.

Yukiko tried to catch her breath, placing a hand on her chest. "D-Don't worry, Ben. I'll get you out of there. But first," She pulled her phone out of her purse and took a picture.

"Oh come on!" He complained.

"Sorry sorry, I'll just show this to Gwen later," She giggled. Yukiko put her phone away and stared at the vending machine. "Now, how to get you out?"

She couldn't just blast it with any of her spells, because they were at a gas station, and she'd risk the chance of hurting Ben. "Maybe, I can reach in and unlock it?" She knelt down and placed her hand inside of the latch. Yukiko's hand felt around for one of the screws. "I…think…I got it-"

DING!

Yukiko blinked in shock as she found herself trapped within the vending machine along with Ben. One minute she was shoving her entire hand inside of the vending machine, and the next she was right next to Ben in the cramp snack machine.

"H-H-H-HOW!?" She grasped, horrified.

"HAHAHAHAHA! Not so funny now, is it!?" Ben grinned, happy to see karma do its thing. Yukiko glared down at him, humiliated beyond belief.

"T-This isn't funny, Ben! Now who's going to get us out of this!?" Yukiko struggled to move inside of the cramped space.

"Chill, once the watch recharges then I'll just go Four Arms and get us out of here," Ben replied.

"Can you even reach it?" She asked, skeptical.

"Of course, I can. Watch," Ben tried to reach for the Omnitrix. His hands were too far from one another Ben to even reach it. When he realized that he couldn't get to it, he looked back up at Yukiko and chuckled. "Uh, guess not. Hehe."

If she could shake her head, she would. The heiress tried to see if there was someone who could help them. She gasped when she saw Gwen walking out with a bar of frozen ice cream in her hands. "Gwen! Gwen!"

The younger girl looked up, trying to find Yukiko.

"Over here!"

Gwen turned her head to the right and stared at her two trapped cousins. She dropped her bar on the ground and started laughing hysterically. "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Gwen clutched her stomach as she approached the vending machine.

Yukiko resisted the urge to glare at Gwen. "Is this what it feels like to be laughed at? I owe Chie-chan an apology," Yukiko thought.

"Gwen, you have to help us get out of here," Yukiko pleaded.

"How did you guys even get stuck in here?" She asked, still giggling.

"Yukiko wanted a candy bar, but I told her that was irresponsible and that she was already looking as if she gained some weight-OW!" He winced as Yukiko's fingers managed to pinch his face.

"Shut it!" She hissed at him. Yukiko pinched him again to insure that he wasn't going to open his mouth again, then looked back at gwen. The heiress explained everything that happened up until that moment to Gwen.

Gwen pinched the bridge of her nose. "Should've known the doofus was going to do something stupid toady."

"Not my fault this stupid vending machine decided to break!" Ben defended himself.

"I'll go get Grandpa to see if he can figure anything out. But first," Gwen knelt down to the latch and reached into it.

"Hey? What are you doing?" Ben looked down to see that Gwen was reaching for his candy bar. "Hey, stop that! That's mine, dweeb!"

"Think of it as compensation for helping your sorry butt," Gwen continued to try and grab it.

"No way!" Ben stretched his foot downwards to shove the bar away from Gwen.

"Why you little-" Gwen held back her tongue, reaching further in for the candy bar. Her whole arm is almost inside. But, Ben's foot shoved it away again.

"Ben, stop it!" Yukiko warned him.

"I paid for it, so it's mine!"

"Just stop being a little doofus and let me-"

DING!

Ben cowered in fear of the two death glares that were now being directed at him. Due to his stubbornness, Gwen had gotten herself stuck inside of the vending machine as well. She was jammed in right between both of her cousins.

Ben started laughing nervously. "W-Well, we can think of this as family bonding."

"The only bonding that I want as of now is my foot planted in your doofus face!" Gwen seethed, struggling to move.

"Can you two not move so much, it's making this even more uncomfortable," Yukiko said, also struggling to move.

"What are we going to do now?" Ben asked.

"The only thing we can do, Ben," Yukiko replied. All three sighed in reluctance and screamed all together.

"GRANDPA, HELP!"

Heeding their call the old plumber exited the gas station with a few bags in his hand. "Now, where did I put my keys?"

"GRANDPA!"

"Huh?" Max turned to his right to see all three of his Grandkids stuck inside of the vending machine. "Do I even want to know?"

"It was Ben's fault!" Gwen yelled immediately.

"Wow! Remind me to never trust you with anything important!" Ben glared at her.

"Grandpa, is there anything you can do?" Yukiko asked.

"I should be able to get you three out with my tools. Though, I'll have to ask the manager if I can bust open this thing. But, first," Max reached into one of the bags and pulled out a camera. "I really want to give this new camera I bought a spin," He laughed as he took a picture of them.

"GRANDPA!" All three whined in unison, feeling absolutely embarrassed.

Max chuckled some more before putting the camera back into the bag. "Don't worry, I'll get right on it. Just sit tight," He went back inside of the gas station.

"Not like we can go anywhere," Gwen replied, sarcastically.

Ben tried to open a bag of chips with his teeth.

"Ben!" Yukiko exclaimed.

"What? I'm still hungry," He shrugged, and went back to biting open the bag.

Yukiko sighed and tried to find some way to get comfortable. "At least none of my friends will ever see me like this."

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!" Chie fell to the ground, tears threatening to fall from her face as she laughed hysterically.

"T-That's even worse luck than me," Yosuke tried to keep his laughter in.

"How did they even manage to get stuck in there?" Kanji wondered, tilting his head.

"Yuki-chan and her cousins look like they're having fun!" Teddie exclaimed.

"Yukiko-senpai looks so ridiculous! I've never seen her make that face!" Rise exclaimed, laughing. She was leaning on Kanji so as to not fall over.

"It should be physically impossible for all three of them to even fit in that vending machine," Naoto looked bewildered.

Mrs. Amagi was laughing herself as she showed her daughter's friends this image. Max had sent the image over to them, hoping for them to find it funny. She had shown it to her husband earlier and managed to get a smirk out of him.

Chie got to her feet, still laughing. "A-Amagi-san, c-can you send me that image. There's someone else who should see that."

Mrs. Amagi raised an eyebrow, before she realized who Chie was talking about.

The boyfriend.

Yu Narukami looked down at the email he just received from Chie. He opened it up and almost lost his balance, shocked by the image he was looking at. Slowly his shock morphed into laughter, and he made sure to save the image for later.

He can tease Yukiko about it once he sees her again.

NOTE: Yes, Yukiko's friends have seen Ben and Gwen, but they don't know anything about the two. Wait for the main story to eventually get to that.

The idea for this one came from the old Ben 10 short when Ben got stuck inside of the vending machine and Gwen left him in there. I decided to make Gwen and Yukiko join him inside. There was also some light inspiration from Scooby-Doo, when Shaggy and Scooby got stuck inside of a vending machine.
