Log 4: Mutant Squid!

Cover Page: Yukiko and Gwen were dressed in lab coats with goggles placed over their eyes. Yukiko was pouring some sort of green substance into the pot. Gwen stood next to her, watching the scene with fear as a purple gas was being emitted from the pot. The gas took the form of a skull, freaking the girl out more.

Gwen sighed in relief as she took in the peace and quiet inside of the Rustbucket. The girl was reading a book as she sat in the back of the RV. Currently, her annoying male cousin and Grandfather were out and about. Leaving her to finally have some peace and quiet that she normally wouldn't be able to get otherwise.

CLANK!

"OW!"

"Oh, right," Gwen looked up from her reading. In the kitchen area was Yukiko searching through the cabinets. Gwen had forgotten that Yukiko had stayed behind to continue working on her own cooking, the heiress was aiming to improve her own skills in the kitchen.

"It'll take the miracle of God for that to happen, and even then, it's unlikely," Gwen shook her head. She loves Yukiko very much; the heiress had become a big sister/role model to her and was able to put the fear of God into Ben very easily. That last part made Gwen smirk a bit, it was always funny to watch Ben squirm under Yukiko's scalding glare.

However, Yukiko wasn't perfect, and the teen's cooking was the perfect example of it. Gwen had seen and tasted bad food before, her older brother couldn't cook to save his life. But, once every blue-moon he could make something edible. Yukiko on the other hand, surpassed that on a galactic scale, her skills in the kitchen were so disturbingly horrendous that Gwen genuinely had to wonder how Yukiko's friends had never brought it up to her.

"They probably didn't want to hurt her feelings," Gwen had to assume. If the heiress' own best friend and boyfriend hadn't broken the news to her, then that only means that they've been wanting to protect her feelings.

Going against her better judgement, Gwen decided to interact with the older female. "Uh, Yukiko, what are you looking for?"

The teenager looked away from the cabinet. "Oh, Gwen! I'm just trying to find where the spices went. They seemed to have changed location somehow," Yukiko answered.

"Ben," Gwen realized mentally. Her doofus cousin must've changed their location to mess with her somehow. "Why exactly do you need them?"

"I'm trying to practice with these recipes that Aunt Vera gave me. It's supposed to help soothe the senses and relax those that consume it. Sounds really tasty, doesn't it?" Yukiko said with an excited grin.

"If someone who could cook was making it, then yes," She said that part mentally again. "I'm sure it'll be the best thing you'll ever make!" Gwen gave a nervous smile.

"Thanks Gwen-OH!" Yukiko popped open a cabinet. There were multiple small bottles and spices put together inside of it.

"What?"

"I think I found the spices. Now for the salt," Yukiko grabbed one of the small bottles. It had no label, but it reassembled salt. "Grandpa must've taken the label off," Yukiko shrugged. The heiress poured a weirdly large amount into the pot, much to Gwen's horror.

"Why are you putting that much in!?" Gwen cried.

"Huh? Was I not supposed to?" Yukiko asked, confused.

"What did the recipe say!?" Gwen closed her book and rushed over to Yukiko. Gwen took the recipe book away from Yukiko.

"Just a few ounces, I don't see why you're freaking out," Yukiko placed a hand on her hip.

Gwen scanned the recipe that Yukiko was using and gawked. "Yukiko! This says use a tiny bit of salt! You used almost the whole bottle!" Gwen turned the book around to Yukiko. The heiress leaned down to read the instructions.

"Oh…well, I'm sure it'll be fine…"

POP!

Both girls jumped back at the sudden popping noise that had come from the pot. The popping continued to get faster and faster, the pot shaking sporadically with the popping.

"Uh, is it supposed to do that?" Gwen asked.

"N-No…I don't think so," Yukiko replied.

Suddenly some sort of long tentacle shot out of the pot and stuck itself to the ceiling of the RV. Gwen shrieked in fright at the sudden tentacle, she scooted back behind Yukiko. "I really don't think this was supposed to happen!"

Yukiko stared at the bottle of 'salt' in her hand. "What kind of salt is this!?"

Suddenly more and more tentacles started spewing out of the pot, one of them almost hit Gwen in the face had she not ducked fast enough. Yukiko pushed Gwen towards the door. "Run!"

As the two rushed outside of the RV, purple tentacles were slipping out the door behind them. Slowly the newly created creature slithered out of the RV. It was moving just like how a squid would, with the pot acting as the main body of the long purple creature. Dark purple ooze was leaking out of the bottom of the pot.

"W-What is that!?" Gwen whimpered.

"Definitely not our lunch," Yukiko pulled her fan out of her sleeve. She ushered Gwen to stand behind her as the Squid-Pot loomed closer.

A tentacle shot towards the two, the long appendage sharpened like a blade as it got closer. Yukiko pushed Gwen away as the blade tentacle got closer. "Agilao!" Yukiko shouted, shooting a fireball at it.

The blade sliced through the fireball, but the embers of the fire burned it. The Squid-Pot pulled its arm back, hissing in pain from the burns. It glared at the heiress, whipping two more blade-like tentacles at her.

"Maragion!" Multiple medium sized balls of fire spewed out of Amaterasu's sword. The fireballs burned the tentacles, but this time they continued their attack towards her. Yukiko ducked down as the blades whipped over her, overlapping each other.

Gwen stayed on the ground, hoping that the creature wouldn't notice her. However, the thing was more perceptive than she thought. Its tentacles changed form from a blade to multiple comically large mallets, all aimed at her. "Y-Yukiko!" Gwen screamed as all of the mallets were falling towards her.

"MARAGIDYNE!" Yukiko roared. Equally large fireballs incinerated the mallets before they could hit Gwen. The younger female watched the explosions of fire and purple with a look of awe, it was almost like fireworks.

"Wish I could do that," Gwen whispered.

"Are you alright, Gwen!?" Yukiko rushed over to her, checking the girl for injuries.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine. What about that thing?" Gwen and Yukiko turned to look in the direction of the Squid-Pot.

The creature was lying on the ground without its tentacles, since Yukiko had incinerated all of them. It squirmed frantically as it proceeded to regrow its limbs.

"Gwen, call Grandpa," Yukiko instructed.

"Right," Gwen took out her phone to call their Grandfather. Yukiko kept her eyes on the Squid-Pot to make sure it didn't try anything else. Though, she was surprised when she saw that it had stopped moving. Yukiko took slow steps towards the pot, peering inside of it. It had squished itself onto the bottom of the pot, its glowing pink orbs were staring back up at her.

"What the-"

POW!

Yukiko flew back a couple of feet when a fist shaped tentacle punched her in the face. The hand stretched itself and grabbed her leg. More tentacles sprouted out of the arms and wrapped themselves around Yukiko's body. "MMGGGHHH!" Yukiko squirmed from her slimy prison.

Gwen watched in fear, her Grandfather's concerned voice being heard over the phone.

"Gwen! What's wrong!?" Max shouted through the phone.

"G-G-Grandpa…you guys might want to hurry back!"

The bottom of the pot was popped off, allowing more tentacles to sprout and to take the form of legs. The Squid-Pot grew a large beak as the tentacles behind it transformed into large purple wings to take off.

"SCREEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH!" The Squid-Pot screeched at the top of its lungs, forcing Gwen to cover her ears. Yukiko winced in pain; she was unable to cover her own ears due to the creature restricting her limbs. It flapped its wings, taking off into the sky, and entering the city with Yukiko in tow.

"GWEN! WHAT WAS THAT!?" Max asked.

"A very large and disturbing squid has Yukiko!" Gwen answered, frantically.

"WHAT!? Gwen, what happened while we were gone!?" Max asked, concerned.

"Y-Yukiko was just practicing her cooking and poured something that looked like salt into the pot, and it created some sort of chimera creature. It captured Yukiko and took off into the city!" Gwen explained. Gwen couldn't see her Grandpa, but she heard him mutter a quiet curse.

"Okay, Gwen, stay there at the Rustbucket. I'll be back as soon as I can!" Max instructed.

"What about Yukiko!?" Gwen asked.

She realized asking that question was pretty dumb when she could hear the activation of the Omnitrix and a loud "Hero Time!" through the phone.

"Ben will handle that, just get back inside of the Rustbucket and wait for me!"

Stinkfly flew through the city, trying to locate his cousin and the mutant lunch. The Lepidopterra scanned the city below him. "How hard is it to find a mutated squid?"

"SCREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHH!"

Stinkfly flinched from the insanely loud scream that had echoed throughout the entire city. The bug turned his attention to the city's bridge, where the creature could be seen flying towards it. Flapping his wings even faster, Stinkfly zoomed towards the Squid-Pot.

The monstrosity raised two tentacles, sharpening them into blades, and slashing the cables holding the bridge. The people on it screamed in fear as the bridge was shaking violently from being disrupted with.

Yukiko struggled in her binds, only able to watch the creature attack innocent people. If only she could do anything to crush her tarot card.

Suddenly a burst of air blew past her face, the heiress blinked in surprise at the suddenness of it. Her dark orbs saw green gunk reattach the cables, keeping the bridge from falling over. Yukiko shifted her eyes to see Stinkfly buzzing around, dodging the Squid-Pot's dangerous blade swipes.

The Lepidopterra shot some goop into the creature's eyes, blinding it. He zipped over to where it was holding his cousin, and tried to tear her out of the tentacles.

"Yukiko!"

"BHHMGH!" She muffled, happily.

Stinkfly grinned cheekily at her. "Seems you're the one who screwed up this time, huh? Can't blame me for this one at all!" He laughed.

Yukiko's happiness turned into annoyance at her cousin's laughter. When he managed to uncover her mouth, Yukiko saw something out of the corner of her eyes.

"Ben, move!" She yelled.

"What?" Stinkfly turned his head in time to see a giant purple fist coming straight at him. The bug flew into the air, dodging the strike. Multiple more fists sprouted out of the tentacle to take out the alien bug. Stinkfly maneuvered masterfully through the air, using his stinger to slice through the creature. It screamed in pain as Stinkfly continued to cut through it, the bug laughed mockingly at the Squid-Pot.

"Haha! If you want to swat this bug, then get a bigger swatter!"

And that's what it did. It made a comically large flyswatter.

"...Oh." Stinkfly blinked.

SWAT!

The bug was sent flying into the bridge, creating a mini crater in it. The Lepidopterra groaned in pain as the creature prepared to smack him again.

"B-Ben!" Yukiko summoned her tarot card and crushed it between her teeth. "Agidyne!"

The creature screamed in pain as the fireball burned the tentacle with the flyswatter, saving Stinkfly from getting crushed. That gave the hero enough time to get off the ground and fly back into battle.

"You wanna play dirty, huh!? Well, let's see how you deal with this one!" Stinkfly secreted a giant gas of putrid stink into the Squid's eyes, blinding it. The creature hissed from the burning pain and the horrid smell of Stinkfly.

Yukiko was doing her best to not cry as she had no way to stop the smell from affecting her. Stinkfly flew back over to her and started using his stinger to tear her free. "Sorry," He apologized. She nodded her head, not wanting to open her mouth.

"Got it!" Stinkfly finally tore her free, grabbing her hand, and carried her away from the creature. He landed back on the ground just as the watch started to beep.

In a flash of light Ben returned to normal just as the Rustbucket pulled up to the two of them. Max and Gwen stepped out of the RV, hugging Yukiko with relieved expressions.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful," Gwen apologized.

"Don't say that. You helped a lot by calling Grandpa and Ben," Yukiko reassured her.

Ben turned around and saw the Squid moving away from the bridge. "Look! It's heading towards the water!" Ben exclaimed. He and his family watched as the creature continued to his in pain as it slowly made its way to the ocean.

"Why is it doing that?" Gwen asked.

"It must be trying to strengthen itself by consuming seawater," Max took a guess.

"How would you know that, Grandpa?" Yukiko asked, suspicious.

"W-Well, it was the salt that mutated it, right? That must be what's powering it up," Max answered, quickly.

"Which brings me to my other question. What the heck was that stuff, Grandpa!?" Yukiko asked once more.

"Some…experimental salt that I had been making in the past. I thought that I had put it in a cabinet far away from the spices so that they wouldn't get confused," Max said, confused.

Gwen realized what had gone wrong and who's fault this truly was. She turned her head to look at Ben, who was looking away from them. "You did, Grandpa. But some little doofus wanted to play a little prank."

All three of them were now glaring at Ben, who was sweating nervously. "H-How was I supposed to know that stuff was dangerous!? Learn to put a label on things, Grandpa!"

"Look, we'll talk about this later, Ben. At the moment we have a giant squid to stop," Max ushered them all into the RV.

"How are we supposed to stop it?" Yukiko asked as she sat in the front seat.

"How else do you think you'd deal with ocean-based creatures?" He answered with a question.

Ben smirked as he slammed his fist into his palm. "Time for some fried calamari!"

The Squid-Pot slowly made its way to the beach of the city, scaring away all of the residences who were trying to relax. It extended its tentacles to reach the salty waters to refill itself for sustenance.

TINK!

Suddenly, a giant wall of crystals blocked its path to the water. The monster turned its eyes to look behind itself. The Squid-Pot saw the Tennyson family standing in front of the Rustbucket.

"Good job picking the wrong form, genius," Gwen insulted.

"I didn't want to pick Diamondhead, dweeb!" Diamondhead yelled back.

"No time for bickering, you two. Yukiko! Ben! Keep that thing from reaching the sea, while we try to keep people away from the action," Max ordered.

"Right!" His Grandkids all yelled together.

A purple tentacle wrapped itself around Diamondhead's waist and yanked the Petrosapian away from them. "WOAH!" He was tossed into the diamond barrier, cracking the wall from the collision.

"Ben! Agidyne!" Yukiko fired off a fireball, burning the limb that held her cousin. Max and Gwen had run off to help coreel the civilians away from the fight.

The creature glared down at its creator and sent multiple blade-like tentacles at her. Yukiko rolled out of the way before they pierce her, she shattered another tarot card. "Maragion!" Ten fireballs blasted the squid in the face, forcing it to hiss in pain.

Diamondhead jumped into the air, sharpening his hands into blades. He sliced the creature's face up, angering it even further. It retaliated with multiple purple fists, which Diamondhead blocked with a shield. He landed back on the ground, running out of the way of multiple mallets.

"Agidyne!" The fireball scorched through multiple tentacles, making it harder for the creature to regenerate. "Ben! Don't give it time to regenerate!"

"Got it!" Diamondhead extended both of his fists at it. Shooting out crystalized shards that continued to pierce through its body. The creature tried to crush him with more mallet shaped tentacles, but Diamondhead tore right through him. His diamond body acts as a good means of defense.

"Maragidyne!" Ten large fireballs incinerated more tentacles, making it even harder for it to regenerate. Yukiko ran over to Diamondhead. "We have to pin it down, so that I can burn it to a crisp."

"Leave it to me!" Diamondhead slammed his hands onto the ground, creating a strong diamond cage around the creature. It pushed itself against the bars to try and break free. Yukiko walked over to the monster, a dark aura surrounding her body.

"I brought you into this world, and I'll be the one to make sure you never appear in it again," She asserted her dominance over the creature. For its final moments it had learned who the top of the food chain actually was.

"Agidyne."

The creature screamed in pain as it was being cooked alive, the last thing it saw was Yukiko's demonized face.

Gwen and Max reentered the scene, the girl sniffed the air. "Ugh, smells like roasted squid," She waved her hand to get rid of the smell.

"Smells like lunch to me," Max grinned as he leaned in closer to the dead creature.

"You sure that's safe to eat, Grandpa?" Diamondhead asked. He was weary of it considering what that thing had turned into and who had cooked it.

"Oh yeah, I'd say that it was cooked just enough to burn away anything that may have been toxic. We should have no issue eating this sucker," Max said.

Yukiko clapped her hands. "Good! Ben, chop this up so we can take some of it into the Rustbucket!"

"But-"

"You caused this mess by trying to be funny. Don't make me punish you too," Yukiko smiled sweetly at him. The smile on her face had sent a chill down his spine.

"Y-Yes, ma'am!" Diamondhead hurried and started cutting up the creature's tentacles.

Gwen laughed at how much Yukiko scared Ben; she'll have to ask Yukiko for some pointers in the future.

"Huh? It actually tastes good," Ben chewed on his fried squid.

"I guess torching that thing managed to make her cook something good for once," Gwen bit into hers.

"You think this means something?" Ben asked.

He and Gwen turned around to see Yukiko stirring another pot, a ghastly aura of death floating above it.

"Nah!" Both of them shouted together and went back to eating their squid.

Log End

NOTE: The only good thing Yukiko had ever made, her friends would never believe it.

Have a great day!
