NOTE: Another Log is here, and I enjoyed this one a lot. There's something about torturing Yukiko that fills me with the utmost happiness. To be fair, I get that feeling with all of these characters.

Log 15: Priestess vs Roach
Cover Image: Yukiko hid behind Gwen with a fearful expression. The heiress was shaking like a leaf as she stared at their newest foe.
Gwen just gave the bug a deadpan stare as she sprayed it with Bug-B Gone. Silently questioning who was the oldest one between the two of them.
Yukiko held the keys to the Rustbucket in her hands. "Don't worry, Grandpa. I can keep watch over the Rustbucket until you guys get back."
Max stood in the doorway. "Are you sure you don't want to come with us, Yukiko?" Behind him Ben and Gwen were fighting over something she deemed unimportant.
Yukiko shook her head; it was way too hot outside for her today. The heiress would much rather stay inside of the RV and sit in front of the fan Max had bought for them. In an attempt to ward off the heat Yukiko was dressed in one of Max's old T-shirts, which was way too big for her and was perfect for a hot day such as this. "I'll be fine, Grandpa. It's too hot out here for me to be walking around."
"Lame!" Ben's shout was heard.
Yukiko didn't bother with a response; it was too hot to deal with Ben.
Max nodded his head. "Alright then. Just try to keep cool while we go shopping for today. If there's any trouble just call and we'll be back in a second."
"I doubt anything will happen. Have fun!" Yukiko waved goodbye as they walked away from the Rustbucket.
"How much fun could someone possibly have on a shopping trip?" Ben rolled his eyes.
"Plenty if you know what it is you want to get," Gwen countered.
"C'mon you two. We got a long list," Max led the two into the shopping center.
Yukiko released a sigh of relief as she stretched out on her bunk. "Finally, peace and quiet." The heiress loved her little cousins to death, but it was hard to have a moment of peace with their constant arguing. With the electrical fan blowing air right next to her, Yukiko opened up a book. She had been looking forward to starting this horror series that Max had bought for her a while ago. A nice little break to keep her mind off of the heat.
After 10 minutes of reading, thirst began clawing at her throat from all the heat. Placing a bookmark to keep her place, Yukiko stretched her legs and walked to the refrigerator. "Oh right. We're out of sweet tea flavor. Water will just have to suffice," Closing the fridge, Yukiko took a glass cup and reached for the sink handle.
However, her hands stopped inches from the handle when something moved in the corner of her eyes. Finding it strange her eyes slowly turned to the fridge to check it out.
THUD!
Later on, that day, Yukiko would be glad that the floor wasn't hard enough for the glass cup to shatter, but at the moment it was the farthest thing on her mind. Dark pupils shrunk considerably as she spotted a cockroach clinging onto the side of the refrigerator. To Yukiko it felt as if the bug was staring back at her. "KYA!" At the literal speed of sound, Yukiko ran back to her bunk. Hiding herself underneath the covers in an attempt to protect herself.
Peeking her head from underneath the covers, Yukiko checked if the roach was still there.
"SCREEEH!" The roach seemed to scream at her. The heiress' face paled considerably from the imaginary screech. Ducking back down beneath the covers, a shaky arm reached back out to grab her phone. With her lifeline in her hands the heiress scrolled through her phone for Max's contact. Quickly pressing the call button, she waited patiently for Max to pick up.
RIIIING!
RIIIING!
"D-don't tell me…" Yukiko gulped. She pulled the covers back up to see Max's phone was still charging on the dashboard. "Oh, come on, Grandpa!" Yukiko whined.
Then a lightbulb switched on above her head. "Oh right! I can just call, Gwen!"
"Hm? Oh, where did I place it?" Max searched his pockets.
Gwen, who was stopping Ben from adding a 4th box of Sumo Slammers cereal to the cart, turned to her grandfather. "What is it, Grandpa?"
"I can't seem to find my phone," Max answered.
"Maybe you forgot it in the Rustbucket," Ben said.
Max sighed. "You're most likely right. Just wondering worried about Yukiko needing us if something happens."
Gwen pulled out her phone. "Don't worry, Grandpa. I still got mine-"
RING!
"Huh. Seems she's calling now." Gwen showed Yukiko's contact to Max. "What could she want right now?"
"Probably a second fan to cool her butt off," Ben laughed.
Gwen rolled her eyes at Ben before answering the call. "Hello, Yukiko?"
"Oh, Gwen! Thank goodness you answered I need-
BEEP!
Gwen blinked in confusion at Yukiko getting cut off. Looking back at her phone, she realized what happened. "Oh, my phone died."
"WHY DID SHE HANG UP!?" Yukiko mentally screamed. Gwen wasn't the type to suddenly hang up a call rudely like that. If it was Ben then she wouldn't have been surprised, but she expected better from her well-mannered little cousin. Especially when she was in a time of crisis!
"Okay…Yukiko, calm down," Yukiko told herself. The heiress took a few deep breaths to steady her heart. "You've faced shadows, two godlike beings, a murderer, an alien warlord, and a whole bunch of other stuff. A simple roach shouldn't be any more trouble than they were." Once she had gained a semblance of confidence, Yukiko lifted the blanket.
Only to not see the roach anywhere.
"W-where did it go…?" She asked fearfully. Using the tiny bit of confidence to get off of the bed, still keeping the blankets around her body. She took a quick moment to pick up the glass cup she had dropped earlier.
It was only when she turned around from the sink did, she find it again. The roach sat peacefully on the table, staring directly at her.
SHATTER!
That sound wasn't any glass.
It was the humiliating sound of her confidence breaking to pieces.
All Yukiko could see afterwards was a ball of fire leaving her hands.
"GAH!" Max gripped his chest. His actions scared his grandkids quickly.
"Grandpa, are you okay!?"
"Are you having a heart attack-OW!" Ben yelped from Gwen hitting him in his sides.
Max chuckled lightly at the two. "I-I'm fine. It'll take more than a heart attack to keep me down."
"Then what's wrong?" Gwen asked
Max shook his head. "I'm not too sure. But there was only one other time that I felt a sensation like this…"
"I-I'm sure Grandpa won't mind the scorch marks…" Yukiko winced at the sight of the half-burnt table. She was sure one of Ben's aliens could repair the table.
Better news however was that the roach was nowhere in sight. Smiling proudly at her accomplishment. "All in a day's good work. What was I even scared about? All it takes is one good Agi to get rid of a nasty-
BUZZ!
"...bug?"
BUZZ!
Something small zipped past her face, causing Yukiko to stand completely still. Slightly turning her head to the left she saw the totally-not-dead-roach flying around her head.
THUD!
No scream accompanied Yukiko as she passed out on the floor of the Rustbucket. The roach in question just ignored the stupid human and flew out of the open window.
Yu Narukami relaxed in his seat, drying his hair off with a towel. He just got out of a relaxing shower and was ready to spend the rest of his afternoon reading some new horror series his mother had found for him.
So, step on up to the plate, meet your fate~
Walkin' straight on into the lion's lair~
Turning to his phone, Yu picked it up, wondering who could be calling him right now. Taking a look at the number it appeared to be Yukiko's. "Hello, Yukiko?"
"Hey, Yu. This isn't Yukiko speaking."
"Gwen?" Yu was slightly confused as to why Gwen had his girlfriend's phone. "Is something wrong?"
"Y-you could say that…"
Her stutter made him nervous. "Are you guys okay? Is Yukiko alright?" He was starting to get worried that she may have been hurt in a battle.
"Well, physically she's fine. But…uh…"
"Just tell me, Gwen."
"How do we get her to stop muttering about bugs?"
The Wild Card pinched the bridge of his nose, sinking back down into his chair. He mentally smacked himself for getting so worked up and assuming something horrible must've happened.
This also wasn't the first time he's had to calm Yukiko down from her bug phobia. "Put her on the phone. I know how to help her."
Log End
NOTE: Once again the bug has conqueredover Yukiko. Ben isn't going to let her live this down for a while.
Have a great day!
