Spectre: Now, I'm a little motivated in updating this fic. I have to say, I wasn't expecting that this would actually blow in popularity given how small the DMC and GI fandoms are here in the site. And I'd like to thank the reviews that were posted after the fourth chapter and for your support!

And you guessed it, it's from Darth Vader and another viewer even pointed out Frozen, which is unintentional honestly.

harissontuck: I wouldn't say that Vergil had a soft spot, but he simply does not see Amber as a threat which is why he let her go because while Vergil may be a genocidal, murderous and power-hungry warrior, that guy has enough honor not to harm innocents despite his distaste of humans like Amber. And yes, I already have a plan for Dante in this pic, but not gonna say when he'll appear.

Guest 1: That's what defined Vergil as a character, which is the opposite of Dante but also held a code of Honor like Sparda.

fallendemon248: Yep, they'll get to meet Vergil soon. And he'll probably send a message to the Fatui too.

kerrowe: That's Vergil for ya, and I imagine that he hasn't had much practice in human interaction during his own journey at DMC 3 which is why he was a little awkward in certain conversations like that of Lisa and Rosaria. And yep, Amber already has the memo of how dangerous Vergil could be.

nantono: I'm actually leaning towards in making a new canon, such as an actual connection between the Underworld and of Teyvat. But I'm not gonna tell what changes will occur yet.

Shiroyasha Rises: I'm leaning towards heading to Liyue first then Inazuma.

Guest: Vergil is much, much stronger than the Archons except maybe if they gang up on him.

cursed anonymous: Wow, thanks for the review. Mind telling me what fic that was? I'll search in the wayfinder.

FGORider23: Ill Dotorre, one of the 11 Fatui Harbingers who experimented people.

Ryuuundying Soul: Yeah, we can all agree to that and Childe would definetly get wrecked if he decided to try Vergil.

Chapter 5: A Sample of Absolute Power

Instead of the movement that anticipated, the man threw his sheathed weapon up in the air.

The guards surrounding him were rightfully baffled at this move, but they looked back and saw that the intruder's right hand began to glow until a flash of light momentarily blinded them.

The light dissipated, revealing that his arm was now covered by a thick gauntlet. It vaguely resemble a wolf's head along with its fangs and mane. A glowing hue of black and turqoise began to envelop into the gauntlet as the swordsman concentrated demonic energy into the weapon.

Seeing his intention, one of the leading Vanguards quickly gave the order to open fire at the man in black. But by then, it had already given Vergil enough time.

With a single punch into the sufrace beneath him, a massive shockwave sent the Fatui back in different directions, causing them to collide in the ceilings or in the walls and a small crater of cracks surrounded the swordsman from his gauntlet-covered fist.

In amidst of the impact that he made, Vergil dispelled Beowulf, turning his right arm back to its natural form and catching back the Yamato as it landed back to him with his left, poising himself in the traditional Iajutsu stance as the rest of the Fatui forces regained their bearings and the lead Vanguard parotted his previous order.

"Blast him!"

With an unimpressed scowl, the man looked up to the rain of fire, water and electric bolts. With grace and precision with the Yamato, he sliced apart every shot that came right at him while maintaining a calm and collected aura. Ever shot that he sliced through added to the growing concern, and eventually fear of the Fatui Skirmishers and Legionnaires to the man's skill and power that he had displayed, whereas Vergil resisted the urge to scoff at these insects' attempt to bring him down using uncivilized firearms.

Hmph. Dante would be a far better marksman than any of you.

Disappearing in a flury of black and turqoise, a group of four Fatui Skirmirshers were blown away with a massive burst of demonic energy that came from the swordsman's signature blade. As fast as the naked eye could handle, Vergil dashed through every Fatui soldier that stood in his way. He dashed towards another unsuspecting group who were scrambling to find the lone intruder.

Before the soldiers could even react, Vergil concentrated the power from his blade unleashing a powerful arch of demonic energy, resulting of six torsos falling from their bodies then putting back the Yamato in its scabbard. Dashing over a Cryo Legionnaire, he sent the Skirmisher flying with an uppercut from the Beowulf's gauntlet, followed by drawing his blade once more to slice apart the unfortunate adversary to pieces before landing gracefully to the surface.

Slicing apart another warhammer-wielding soldier, six spectral blades were conjured at his call, orbiting him until they pointed towards a group of Skirmishers. With a command by extending his arm while directing the Yamato at them, the swords shot towards the incoming Skirmirshers in their heads and torsos were they fell to the ground, motionless.

Three more of the mace-wielding Fatui Vanguards came charging right behind him and brought down their warhammers right at him. With a flick of his wrist, a blue spectral form of a demonic figure separated from Vergil and parried the huge weapons with its own spectral blade that took the shape of the Yamato, before breaking the lock by overpowering the Vanguards and finishing them off with a single slash each of their torsos as they were about to fall off.

Dispelling the Doppleganger, Vergil sensed a presence behind him and qucickly raised the sheathed Yamato's scabbard to parry two incoming blades, where the unseen adversaries took the form of black hooded assassins wielding armblades onto their right arm. Dashing with speed and ferocity, the pair took turns in landing each strike of deadly fervor. But the swordsman was unfazed as he continued to flawlessly sidestep and evade every strike these assassins have landed.

Finally deciding to end their little dance, Vergil utilized his deception by allowing one of the assassins to land a clean strike into him. Only for him to disappear in a flurry of black and turqoise shadows and resulting of him stabbing his own comrade right through his throat. Baffled of this action, the remaining assassin felt a metallic blade stab through him by the chest and his dying comrade, as Vergil used this opportunity to take them both in a single lunge of the Yamato.

More Fatui soldiers in the form of their Skirmishers and Vanguards came close to his position. Resisting the urge to sigh in complete annoyance, Vergil drew the Yamato once more, dashing towards them whilst beginning to twirl with the speed of lightning. Like a vortex of death, the son of Sparda tore through the remaining Fatui reinforcements like a hot knife through butter, landing in one knee and returning the Yamato into its scabbard once none of them had survived the carnage.

Looking up, Vergil watched as the commander and a few guards left in a hurry from his reinforced window. Seeing his chance, the swordsman made his way after them.

It was time to crush these inconveniences once and for all.

Two dozen Fatui retreated further into the base as they fell back towards the single intruder. As they neared the bunker complex, a tremor caused a few Fatui soldiers to lose their footing and they fell to the ground, raising their heads up as they realized the bunker doors had been sealed shut while a few of their men that didn't make it were desperately trying to plead with their commander to open the door.

And then, silence engulfed the area as the pyro elemental seals that illuminated the hallway were shut down. Begrudgingly and fearfully, they took positions as they made their stand towards the man.

Fear and terror engulfed these men as sweat began to form into their gloved palms. In the dark hallway in front of them, they stood on guard as they faced the lone intruder who had slaughtered most of their division like vermin. Faint footsteps that were becoming louder and louder at every second had passed, and it wasn't long until a lone figure began to envelop in the dark hallway.

Then, a blue light illuminated the path behind them.

A spectral sword held by the same figure lit the path for him. And slowly, he began to walk towards the group with the same collective stoicism that he carried when he had killed their comrades without emotion or hesitation.

"OPEN FIRE!", a panicked Vanguard quickly ordered as the four remaining Skirmishers fired onto the man. Pyro and Electro bolts shot towards him, to which all of them were reduced into nothing when the spectral blade he held spun to protect himself. Two of similar, but thinner swords formed behind him and launched towards two of their comrades, causing the lead Electro Vanguard to crack and charge at the intruder like a mad-man.

The intruder merely side-stepped out of the warhammer's way and he grabbed the Vanguard's throat with the wolf-gauntlet by his left arm. With a single movement, the Vanguard's neck was snapped and he threw the corpse behind them, causing them to panic even more as they kept up their fire at him. To no avail.

"HELP US!", one of the skirmishers banged the door desperately as the man inched closer and closer until the remaining two skirmishers behind him fell to the ground, motionless.

And what he saw next was the calm blue eyes that signified terror and fear to the Fatui.

"Report back to Snezhnaya and tell them what happened here!", the commander urged one of the only remaining Fatui Agents that weren't killed by the black swordsman. "The Tsaritsa must know of this!"

The assassin obliged, disappearing in a burst of Pyro and leaving the commander and his men to their fate. Inside the bunker, the remaining Fatui garrison took positions in preparation of the threat in front of them. "Shoot anything that comes through that door!", the Commander ordered in a panicked frenzy, snatching a rifle from a nearby Pyro Skirmisher and taking aim.

Screams of men who were left behind were clear for those who could of hear of them. Cries of desperation and pleas amidst the gunfire that was easily brushed away by the intruder before it felt silent, causing the remaining Fatui to be caught of guard.

Until the door that was sealed in front of them burst open. Without any second thought, they open fired even without even seeing the man in the midst of a a dusty cloud in front of them. This went on and on for moments until the commander gave the order to ceasefire.

Emerging from the cloud was a figure, but it was not what they were expecting. It was one of the Skirmirshers that they had left behind who met their end at the hands of the swordsman, and the charred corpse fell to the ground. A few more steps approached them and the figured inch closer.

The man drew his blade once more, causing the remaining of the Fatui Skirmishers to open fire again. But this time, the man stood still as he spun his weapon like its own shield until flames completely covered the blade. With his weapon augmented by Pyro and concentrating its precision, he made a couple of arched slashes where a volley of fireballs struck what remained of the commander's men, purposely avoiding the leader.

He slowly walked towards the trembling leader, whose arrogance was completely replaced by fear and terror until the man's blue eyes gazed upon him.

"What are you?", the commander fearfully querried the swordsman, who pointed his sword at him.

"One that you will not have to worry about for long", was his reply before he returned the blade to his scabbard. The Fatui leader's eyes widened momentarily of this gesture, before his torso fell to the ground, lingering long enough to hear the man's final words to him.

"Like I said, surrounded by fools and their corpses"

Vergil knelt down upon entering one of the holding cells, untying the gag of one of the prisoners, a girl. The moment he took it off, the began to struggle. ''Get away from me, you maniacs!'' Attempted the girl to struggle and free herself. "Let me go!"

"Calm yourself, or you will not be able to be able to return to your homes", Vergil's voice rang through her ears as she became stiff frozen. "I have already dealt with those who brought you here"

"You'll...take us back to Mondstadt?", she repeated, in a tone of both disbelief and of hope.

The swordsman merely conjured a spectral sword, severing the teenager's bonds, allowing her to untie her legs and eventually her blindfold where she looked up to the black-clad swordsman and his blue eyes. "Would that answer your question?"

She resisted the urge to shed tears of the circumstances surrounding her. They are all free, from whatever fate that awaited them at the hands of those monsters. "Yes! And thank you!", she enveloped the swordsman in a hug, sobbing in between tears.

The elder son of Sparda was stunned in the girl's embrace, clearly not expecting the action. Even though he disliked doing so, he simply settled for patting the back of the girl to try and calm her down. "But you will say to no one, as what had happened here", he firmly instructed.

Without protest, she complied obediently and the two proceeded to free the rest of the prisoners. After having woken up everyone and trying to calm the townspeople to keep them in order, Vergil led them on their way out of the facility. But before Vergil left, he drew the Yamato to causse a collapse of the structure's ceiling, closing it forever. But before they could find out who their saviour was, he was already gone.

They all traveled to the city at record speed and as soon as Mondstadt was close enough, the two guards alarmed the citizens inside the city and they all scrambled to find the familiar crowd outside, and theycouldn't help but cry out in happiness at seeing their home.

''We are back, everyone!''

''We managed to come come back!''

''That nightmare is finally over!''

''I can't wait to see my family again!''

"Mom! Dad!"

Similar thoughts were voiced loudly among the group, which caused some of the town inhabitants to notice the large group approaching them. They quickly recognized their friends and family members and cried in joy at seeing their loved ones safe and sound.

The commotion made the rest of the people realize what was going on and soon all the inhabitants of the city gathered in the outskirts to cheer and celebrate the return of their friends and family.

Exiting the Knights of Favonius HQ, the Acting Grand Master and the Cavalry Captain witnessed the tearful reunion and the unexpected return of the missing civilians of Mondstadt as a group. "You have all returned...", Jean breathed out a sigh of relief, looking over the crowd as members of the Church of Favonius scrambled to provide medical attention to the freed civilians, but there are plenty of questions surrounding them that she needed answers to. "But how?"

"A black knight happened", the girl in the crowd replied, keeping her word not to reveal anything about their saviour. And she no longer divulged any more information after that.

Watching from Good Hunter, Vergil merely sipped his cup of tea before taking a bite of the Hashbrowns for dinner. And he simply ignored the commotion around him as he ate in peace.

Spectre: Yeah you may be wondering why it's a bit rushed, which it is actually. The saving the civilians plot point was more of a side-quest than what Vergil had to do that day, and this is the point where the Fatui would learn of Vergil's existence. But don't worry, I'll make up for in the next chapter and of Vergil's inner thoughts as he saved the civilians and of the Fatui in the next chapter, which is gonna be more of a slice of life where a certain bomb maker would soon make her appearance. Leave a review and thanks for the support!
