Uh I got distracted on a side note I can not believe that the book series is over or at least the one that has been constant forever. I can't believe that ending. I liked it but also I hate it but i love it.
Also like I know I said the chapters would be longer but I forgot I had them sectioned off into small fragments for a reason atleast until later….
Chapter 9
"Space vampires, why did I even start calling them that. They've been nothing but a pain since it started." she hit her head on the metal lab table below and she just left her forehead resorting on the cold surface. "If it was named anything else no one would have repeated the name but nooooo that has to get cleared through other scientists."
Her head was still down on the table when she muttered loud enough. "Computer, where is sample E-29?"
"In storage unit 2b drawer 3 lab 7."
"No it's not!" she took a deep breath in "Computer who was the last one to sign out sample E-29?"
"The sample has not been signed out on this current vessel."
"Then where is it?!" she yelled from the same position staring at the floor.
"In storage unit 2B drawer 3 Lab 7."
"Computer, where is sample E-25?"
"Currently signed out by Lieutenant Commander Rose."
"And where am I?"
"Lab 7."
"Thank you computer…" Her eyes closed when she shut them more muttering came from her. "At least you got that right." She took a deep breath in and she heard the door slide open. She didn't bother to look up or even move. "Yes?"
"You asked to see me?" Rose opened her eyes to see boots in her line of site but the booming voice told her who it was.
With the realization of knowing who it was she immediately shot up in her seat and sat up straight. "Yes, I can not explain this any other way but a security breach."
"In what?"
"The work, the samples. I don't know, I'm still trying to figure out how much is missing compared to the last inventory that was done."
"What is missing?"
"So far samples. The samples vary from bone fragments to dirt, to rocks and yet, the computer says they're all here."
"Then they must be here."
She sighed and stood up, "Computer, where is sample E-29?"
"Sample E-29 is located In storage unit 2b drawer 3 lab 7"
Rose stuck her hand out in the direction of the storage unit. "Be my guest."
The klingon moved to the unit then opened the drawer, only to see a sample in the drawer missing. "I see."
"But it gets better sir. Computer who was the last one to sign out sample E-29?"
"Sample E-29 has not been signed out on this current vessel."
Rose then pointed to her desk. "Computer where sample E-25 is."
"Currently signed out by lieutenant commander Rose, located in lab seven." Rose dramatically repointed to the sample. Which sat on the desk unopened.
The security officer took a look at her 'evidence,' then looked around the room. "How many samples have gone missing?"
"From what I cataloged today nineteen. That number has steadily gone up since we last spoke."
"Are there any value to these samples?"
"Honestly, no. And I haven't been able to locate any of the missing artifacts."
"Who has access to this lab?"
"Currently the senior staff and the site staff. But any sample that has gone missing has the same answer, that it hasn't been checked out and is in the unit."
"Are any of the samples dangerous?"
"No."
"Okay. I will have this looked into."
"Thank you Lieutenant Worf."
She had determined with Worf that she would try to find the missing sample or locate them while he figured out if the system had glitched or not. He still did not get the full extent of what had occurred on her end. But life would not be simple especially when such a small problem was now becoming an issue.
