Quinn stared at her younger sister, unsure what to make of Charlie's latest crisis. "Santana's back," she finally repeated trying to make sure she understood why Charlie had just burst into her office. "And?"
"And she's ruining my life again!" Charlie snaps at her twin. "I was finally beginning to move on with my life, I was going to try dating. She's been gone for two years, I have a good job, I have savings, I'm finally secure and she just—she just—" Charlie gestures wildly when words fail her.
Quinn raised a brow, "You were going to try dating?" She repeats slowly. "Charlie you already know who your soulmate is, why in the world would you drag some unsuspecting person into your—mess?" Quinn asks her twin who makes a face.
"Because I just want to be happy! I mistakenly thought that if I gave her another chance, if I just sat down with her we could figure something out. She up and leaves for two years, and I have zero idea why she's back. I don't know why she had to come back? She told me that if I did what I did then she would make sure I never had to deal with her again. So not only did she bully me for years, the moment I think about giving her a second chance—that I think that maybe we could try and fix things, she disappears and gets my boss at the time to lie to me. Why in the world do I have to be the bigger person here Quinn? How many chances do I have to give her? "
Quinn sighed, Charlie had a valid point, Santana hadn't shown Charlie that she would be a reliable partner. "Look, I'm not exactly thrilled that you are going to be with someone who made your life miserable, and quite frankly both me and Rachel agree that she doesn't deserve you. You do deserve to be happy Charlie, but all because Santana hurt you doesn't mean that you have the right to hurt others. You dating will do that, especially if they fall in love with you. You want to have indiscriminate sex, fine, get tested reguarly but dating is something I can't support while Santana's still around."
Charlie huffed, she should have just done it without asking for permission. "That doesn't solve my Santana problem—maybe I should get a restraining order?"
"Or, here's an idea, you could be an adult and talk to her," Quinn responds with a roll of her eyes.
"I can't do that!"
Quinn paused, and narrowed her eyes. "Why can't you talk to her? You've stood up to Santana before, in fact both me and Rachel were proud of you for doing that. I mean I thought you were being a bit of an ass, but given what Santana put you through I guess it was warranted."
Charlie made a face, her cheeks turning red. "Because it makes me feel bad when she looks upset or disappointed. Like my stomach gets in knots, and I have this weird compulsion to please her and to get her praise. It's because she's my soulmate that I can't just treat her like everyone else, and if I see her—Santana's really attractive Quinn, like super hot. Like something changed when I found out that she is my soulmate, and now I can't just put her back in the box in my head."
"So it's like that," Quinn mused leaning back in her chair.
"It's like what?"
"Charlie you're an adult. You know who your soulmate is and more importantly you like her. So I don't know why you're fighting this."
"Because I don't trust her not to leave again. I don't trust her not to hurt me again, she's always had some form of power over me and I don't know how to navigate that. I don't know how to make it so she can't hurt me, so if that means keeping her far away from me then so be it."
Quinn finally gets up out of her chair so she can sit beside Charlie and gently and awkwardly pats her on the back. "I can talk to her, give her this massive long speech about how if she hurts you I'll bury her. Or if you really want to torture her, I can send Rachel after her. I can't imagine that they'll get along at all."
"Santana would hate Rachel," Charlie mumbles, a small smile cracking her face.
"You came here for my advice? When me and Rachel met it was like lightning, we were instantly attracted to each other we had sex non-stop—"
"I know. Do you have any idea how many times I caught you too?" Charlie made a face.
"But you and Santana already have history together, and despite the fact that Santana was harsh with you, despite the fact that Santana made you feel small, you don't know who she is. So if you want to see if this will work, don't go into this with your preconceived notions of who she is. If at the end of the day you don't like who she is, then you can do whatever it is you want. Heck I'll help you look for a partner, I'm sure Rachel already has a list of people she thinks you'll be good with."
Charlie closes her eyes, "Okay, but I want to do this on my own terms. She doesn't just get to show up to where I work and make a scene."
Quinn nodded smiling, Charlie would figure it out eventually. "Alright, I'll call mom. If you want to find out where she is so you can turn the tables, I'm all for it. Mom will probably have an address for you by the end of business hours today."
Charlie nodded, that seemed like a good idea, it would give her time to look her absolute best to make sure that Santana knew what she was missing. She frowned slightly, Santana was bringing out her petty side.
