Chapter 2

Two sailors were on sentry duty, taking advantage of what little shade there was on the dock. But they suddenly went into alert mode seeing Jack and Morgan sauntering their way up to the ship.

"This dock is off-limits to civilians." Murtogg said stopping the two of them quickly from getting onto the ship.

"Sorry, we didn't know." Jack said before trailing off looking up, shielding his eyes from the sun. "Some sort of to-do up at the fort, eh? You two weren't invited?"

"No ... someone has to make sure this dock stays off-limits to civilians."

"This must be some important boat." Morgan said her eyes sliding over to where the ship was that they were trying to get onto.

Mullroy looked at the brown haired woman giving her a look. "Ship."

"Ship. Apologize."Morgan said, giving Mullroy a sheepish smile.

"Captain Norrington's made it his flagship. He'll use it to hunt down the last dregs of piracy on the Spanish Lake." Murtogg said with a cheeky smile.

"Commodore." Mullroy corrected his companion.

"Right. Commodore Norrington."

"That's a fine goal, I'm sure. But it seems to me a ship like that…'' Jack gestured to the Dauntless. "Makes this one here just a wee superfluous."

"Oh, the Dauntless is the power in these waters, true enough - but there's no ship that can match the Interceptor for speed." Murtogg said, eyeing the two of them.

Morgan looked over at her father, her brows raising slightly knowing that fully wasn't true.

"That so? I've heard of one, supposed to be fast, nigh uncatchable ... the Black Pearl?" Jack said knowing fully well enough that the ship was faster than the Interceptor.

Mullroy scoffed at the name of the ship. "There's no real ship that can match the Interceptor."

"The Black Pearl is a real ship." Murtogg said, looking over at his friend.

"No, it's not." Mullroy said, shaking his head.

"Yes it is. I've seen it."

"You've seen it?"

"Yes."

"You've seen the Black Pearl?"

"Yes."

"You haven't seen it."

"Yes, I have."

"You've seen a ship with black sails that's crewed by the damned and captained by a man so evil that hell itself spat him back out?"

"No."

Morgan followed her father as the two men bickered back and forth. "You knew that would work."

"I would know that one of them wouldn't believe that the Pearl was real."

Morgan rolled her eyes as they got onto the ship fairly easily as the two men continued to bicker back and forth.

Suddenly a loud hey could be heard causing Morgan to turn her head to seeing Murtogg and Mullroy quickly get onto the Interceptor.

Jack stood at the wheel casually examining the mechanism.

Morgan let out a breath as she looked over at her father.

" You!" Mullroy shouted.

Jack looked over in an exaggerated innocent surprise.

"Get away from there! You don't have permission to be aboard there!"

Jack spread his hands in apology. "I'm sorry. It's just such a pretty boat. Ship." Jack then corrected himself.

The sailors studied him suspiciously.

"What's your name?" Murtogg questioned.

"Smith."

"What's your business in Port Royal, 'Mr. Smith'?" Mullroy questioned.

"And no lies!"

"None? Very well. You rumbled me. I confess: I intend to commandeer one of these ships with me daughter, pick up a crew in Tortuga, and go on the account, do a little honest pirating."

"I said, no lies."

"I think he's telling the truth."

"He's not telling the truth."

"He may be."

"If he were telling the truth he wouldn't have told us."

"Unless, of course, he knew you wouldn't believe the truth if he told you it." Morgan pointed out cheekily as she looked at the two men. She knew that neither men believed what her father was telling them and she knew that it was probably the best way to go when it came to things.

The two men considered the point for a few moments looking at the grungy man and woman that was on the ship.
