Itachi was standing outside the Uchiha police station with Naruto contemplating if he really wanted to go inside. He was scared to see some of the people he knew he killed in there. It was one of the main reasons he couldn't go back to the Uchiha district even though it's not closed off like before. He could never look at them the same again.
"Itachi you will be fine," Naruto said grabbing his hand.
"Thank you for coming with me," Itachi said you could hear the fear in his voice.
"I will always be with you," Naruto said softly pushing him forward.
The Uchiha police station was in the same place as before the Fox attack all those years ago. This was something Itachi would have to try and get used to again. They didn't get pushed back and they were still within the village and assimilating well with the citizens of Konoha. Everyone was living peacefully within Konoha and his clan wasn't planning a coup de taut well at least that he knew of. He felt a breath of relief as he got pushed again to the entrance.
"Let's get this over with. I need to know who is trying to get my mom," Naruto said and got a nod from Itachi who couldn't help the small smirk that appeared on his face just from looking at Naruto. "Stop it or I will leave now," Naruto threatened already knowing what Itachi was planning.
"I don't know if it will be a good idea for you to be in the room with me as I talk to Kisame," Itachi said.
"That's fine while you do that, I will find out about Obito from Shisui," Naruto said.
"Find out if any Uchiha's died in the last couple of years," Itachi said softly not wanting anyone else to hear.
"I got it, you're still afraid that they have an Uchiha?" Naruto asked as he leaned his head on Itachi's shoulder.
"Yes," Itachi said pushing Naruto gently as he went to make his way inside the building finally.
"You know the best one they could have had would be you," Naruto said softly to no one as he watched the other man walk into the building.
As Itachi walked into the room he immediately tensed when he saw a few familiar faces that he didn't see before because they never made it this old. He noticed it wasn't only Uchiha that was within the police force and he was proud. He could be proud that his father listened to the warning and changed the problem before it could start.
"Itachi comes to the back," Fugaku called to his son.
"Yes," Itachi said and followed him to the back without really looking at the rest of the people in the room.
"I'm sure you have many questions," Fugaku said as he sat down and gestured for his oldest son to sit down.
"Only one," Itachi said.
"What is it?" Fugaku asked.
"What made you add others into the police force?" Itachi asked.
"Minato suggested it. He didn't want the downfall to happen and he wanted us to not make it seem like we have too much power and this was the best way to do it. Now Uchiha and other clans could be involved in the police force," Fugaku said.
"So, you still remembered what was said about the clan?" Itachi asked.
"Yes, I remembered I just didn't remember who was the one to tell me. I stayed with Minato the night that Naruto was supposed to be born because I also remembered that was the catalyst but nothing happened. We tried everything to prevent people from thinking we were power-hungry and now we're here," Fugaku said gesturing to the police department.
"You did a good job father," Itachi said with soft eyes shocking Fugaku.
"Thank you," Fugaku said blushing slightly. "So, tell me why did you want to save that man?" Fugaku asked as he shook his head to get rid of the blush.
"He is a friend from the past. He only joined the Akatsuki under false pretenses that he was making the world better. He is one of the Seven Deadly swordsmen of the Mist," Itachi said honestly.
"Why do you want to save someone that isn't even from the same village?" Fugaku asked but his body went stiff.
"He became my friend when I really needed one. He saved me more times than I can count and he always looked out for me when my illness came about," Itachi said confidently since his illness was gone now.
"Illness?" Fugaku asked worriedly.
"It's fine now no worries," Itachi said softly. "It was forcibly healed because of Naruto," Itachi said with a fond smile.
"In the past?" Fugaku asked.
"Yeah," Itachi said nodding his head.
"Do you want to see him now?" Fugaku asked standing up.
"Honestly I want to wait a little longer being around you after so long makes me feel warm and comfortable," Itachi said softly as he put his forehead on the desk.
Fugaku was fine with his oldest son being near him after he knew the reason, he did what he did. He felt comfortable silence go around them for at least a half-hour before someone stormed into the room.
"Captain the prisoner is snapping and is asking for Itachi," a young officer said nervously at the door.
"He was never one for being patient," Itachi said standing up from his chair with an air of calm around him.
"Do you need help with him?" Fugaku asked as Itachi was at the door.
"No, I will be fine just make sure no one comes in the room. My eyes will have him under a Genjutsu and I don't want anyone to be drawn in with him. It won't be pleasant," Itachi said shaking his head.
"Okay just call me if you need any help," Fugaku said flashing his own eyes at Itachi shocking Itachi that he also had Mangekyo Sharingan too but a different design.
He nodded his head at his father and let the younger officer direct him to where Kisame was even though the more they walked he started to hear Kisame's loudmouth. He didn't know why he should let this man live but he just couldn't let him die.
"You may leave," Itachi said as he saw two police officers standing in the room with Kisame.
"We have orders from Captain Fugaku..." one started but got glared at by Itachi.
"My father knows I am here and I will handle it," Itachi said.
"He is right Captain Fugaku knows he is back here and everyone has been instructed to stay out of the room as a Genjutsu will be placed on the criminal," the officer who led him here said.
"A Genjutsu? That bastard already put me in one," Kisame screamed.
Itachi smiled a smile that made the others leave the room quicker.
"What do you have me here for?" Kisame snapped out as Itachi sat in front of him.
"So Samehada told you not to attack me? What else did he say?" Itachi asked as he put an illusion around the room so no one could hear what he was saying to Kisame.
"None of your business," Kisame snapped.
"I can always ask myself," Itachi said. "He recognized my chakra, didn't he? He said you knew me even though you haven't seen me in this life? Am I right?" Itachi asked.
"He said he's had your chakra before and that you were an ally," Kisame said. "Why would my sword know your chakra?" Kisame asked.
"Because I was once your ally it was just so long ago," Itachi said.
"How? What the hell does that mean? Stop being so damn cryptic! YOU DAMN UCHIHA!" Kisame snapped.
"My name is Itachi," Itachi said softly. "We met when I was fourteen and I am twenty-one now," Itachi said shocking the man.
"I never... I don't know you," Kisame said shocked that the other one was being so open with him.
"Can I show you?" Itachi asked and his eyes were out and Kisame flinched because he didn't want to be in a Genjutsu again. "Don't worry this Genjutsu will just show you my memories with you," Itachi asked.
Kisame didn't say anything since he was chained up to chakra cuffs and he really couldn't do anything about it.
"What are you waiting for?" Kisame asked.
"You never answered me. I don't want to expose you to my memories if you don't want to know how we know each other," Itachi said.
Kisame was a bit shocked that Itachi was giving him a choice.
"Look Kisame I could have just killed you but you're my friend and I don't want to kill you," Itachi said.
"Why do you care if I die? I'm not from this village anyway," Kisame said.
"Listen to me you're my friend," Itachi said firmly.
Naruto was standing in the Hokage office next to his father and talking to Shisui. Naruto didn't really want to be there he really wanted to be with Itachi at the moment but he needed to solve this while Itachi solved his issue with Kisame.
"Naruto what is going on with Itachi wanting this guy here? He is from the Mist," Shisui said quite annoyed after all of the meetings he had today.
"Well, he is his friend so we want to help in some type of way. I mean he's not a bad guy. You know Itachi wouldn't vouch for someone he didn't think wasn't bad," Naruto said tilting back on his heels.
"Naruto, I get that you two have secrets and I ignored them for the respect I had for both of you but this man tried to attack OUR village we can't just ignore that," Shisui said with Minato nodding sadly at his son.
"Dad try to at least understand. I need you to at least understand what I'm doing," Naruto said looking only at Minato.
"Sorry Naruto I can't help you on this one," Minato said.
"Minato sir can you give me some time with Naruto alone?" Shisui asked as he gestured his Anbu out of the room so no one could hear what he was going to say to Naruto.
Minato nodded looked at Naruto with an apology and then walked out of the room. Naruto sighed but sat down in front of the Hokage desk on the floor.
"Naruto, I know you and Itachi aren't trying to hurt the village but ever since you two came back you seem different," Shisui said.
"That's because we're not the same. We had a mission of our own and we're still trying to solve it so we can get some peace for our village," Naruto explained.
"What mission? I didn't give you anything," Shisui said.
"Open your eyes Shisui I know your one of the smartest people in the village just realize what is going on before we fail," Naruto said.
"..." Shisui was shocked by Naruto.
He didn't know this Naruto in front of him. He really didn't but he knew it was Naruto. He just knew. And that was Itachi but he was different. Softer. Scarier. Fearful. He didn't know what happened to the two but they were different and they had a mission that the two could solve but why won't they just tell him?
"Shisui would you believe me if I did tell you?" Naruto asked shocking Shisui. "No, I'm not reading your mind I can see it in your eyes what you're thinking. It's just obvious and dealing with Itachi and Sasuke in two lifetimes now I can tell what an Uchiha is thinking," Naruto said feeling in the final piece that Shisui was struggling with.
"You're not from this timeline... where are you from then?" Shisui asked.
"A timeline much worse than this one that made Itachi into who you see today along with him being that man's friend. No one knows we have him let's just say we took care of him and let me and Itachi handle him. Please Shisui. If not for me for Itachi. I don't know what the two went through together in the last life but it's some sort of lifeline that only Itachi will understand. And he cares about him," Naruto explained softly.
"You really like Itachi huh?" Shisui asked with a soft smile.
"I... don't think that's your business," Naruto said but the blush was bright.
"Fine... I will cave just this once. You don't have any secret friends out, there do you?" Shisui asked.
"I kind of do but it's not what you think. I want to save the people who are like my mom. The people who have the tailed beast in them," Naruto explained.
"They're scattered how do you plan to find them?" Shisui asked as he set up a mission for Naruto.
"I know where they are and I know who they are," Naruto said with a confident smile on his face.
"Fine Naruto I will let you go. Will you be taking Itachi and his friend with you?" Shisui asked.
"More than likely if what Itachi did worked," Naruto said as he walked toward the door.
"Naruto do I want to know about the past?" Shisui asked.
"If you want to know badly enough, I'm sure Itachi wouldn't mind showing you," Naruto said.
"Was it really bad?" Shisui asked.
"Your ending was sad," Naruto said softly.
Shisui was shocked by what he said and he felt a powerful urge to find his cousin slash best friend but Naruto's words stopped him in his tracks.
"I'm glad you're alive," Naruto said and then left the room.
Shisui sat back in his seat and was sure he learned something he shouldn't have because now he doesn't think he can look at Naruto and Itachi the same ever again.
"Oh yeah by the way I need to ask you something before I go find Itachi," Naruto said getting completely serious compared to his softer tone before.
"What is it?" Shisui asked stumped by Naruto's sudden appearance.
"Is there an Uchiha named Obito here in the village?" Naruto asked.
"My older cousin on my mom's side? Who was on Kakashi's team?" Shisui asked.
"Yeah," Naruto said going off his memory from the last life.
"Sadly, he passed away protecting Rin and Kakashi," Shisui said shaking his head as he looked at his desk.
"What about Rin?" Naruto asked.
"What about her?" Shisui asked confused.
"Did she die too?" Naruto asked.
"No, she's still in the village," Shisui said shaking his head.
"She is alive that's good to hear," Naruto said. "How do you know Obito died?" Naruto asked after a second of thinking.
"What are you trying to say?" Shisui asked.
"Did you see his body?" Naruto asked.
"No, it was smashed by the rockslide," Shisui said shaking his head.
"Okay has there been any other Uchiha that have died since before the first couple years I was born or after the first five years?" Naruto asked.
"Three," Shisui asked confused.
"Obito before and the two after?" Naruto asked.
"Yes, well no Obito a little after you were born. Minato wasn't on the mission so it was the three and that's how that was. The other two were years after you were born," Shisui said.
"Can I get their files? I know it's against protocol but this is very important," Naruto said.
"If you can make sure you and Itachi are the only ones to see it then yes," Shisui said going to the back of the office to pull the files out.
"Yes, we will be the only ones," Naruto promised.
"I have your word," Shisui said.
"Yes, you have my word," Naruto said taking the files. "Thank you Shisui you won't regret this," Naruto said and jumped out the window putting the files in a seal as he jumped down.
Naruto walked through the village which was peaceful and he couldn't help but not feel used to this. He felt weird being here.
"NARUTO!" Sakura screamed as she approached him.
He was on her team until he started going through the Anbu process and that's when he ended up with Itachi.
"Hey Sakura," Naruto said trying to be casual when all he wanted to do is go to Itachi.
"I heard you almost died are you okay now?" Sakura asked checking over him.
"Yeah, I'm fine. You know nothing can keep me down for too long," Naruto said, and just as she was about to say something Itachi popped beside them.
"I need you," Itachi said grabbing Naruto's hand and then they disappeared within the leaves and crows.
"Not that I'm not glad about you pulling me away from a conversation I didn't want to have that was rather rude don't you think?" Naruto asked with a smile on his face as they were back at the police station in the room with Kisame.
"What did he say Naruto?" Itachi asked.
"He said that we can take him with us but he has to be quiet about it and it's going to be played that he died," Naruto explained.
"Excuse me?" Kisame said shocked.
"Shush, but yeah I got the files for the Uchiha's who died," Naruto said thinking about handing them to Itachi but decided it wasn't good to do it in the station.
"Naruto anything else?" Itachi asked.
"..." Naruto thought for a second confused then pulled out a few things then started the process of putting seals on Kisame.
"What the hell is this kid doing?" Kisame asked well snapped toward Itachi.
"Just calm down Kisame," Itachi said.
"You should go tell your father what is going on so I can get out of here with him. Speaking of which we have two hours to get this all done so we can make it out of the village before they start to suspect," Naruto said not even looking up at his task.
"Okay," Itachi said and walked out of the room leaving it under a Genjutsu so it looked like the room didn't exist at all.
"Who are you kid?" Kisame asked.
"Someone who isn't overly fond of you but cares enough about Itachi and my village to know that I have to help you in order to help my cause," Naruto said honestly with a fake smile as he continued with the seals.
"What are you putting on me?" Kisame asked after a few minutes of silence and two seals got put on his wrist.
"Since you wield Samehada that evil sword I made sure that the sword couldn't go against any of my allies. Your chakra will only work when it's an enemy of mine," Naruto said talking about the seals on his wrist.
"What the hell!" Kisame snapped struggling. "I'm not your damn dog," Kisame growled out.
"Technically you would be a shark but for now you have to have this on your arms until I feel like I can trust you. To be perfectly honest it won't make you attack anyone you don't want to. It just keeps you from attacking my allies and the people I don't deem as a threat," Naruto said as he was putting another seal on the back of his neck.
"What the hell is that one now?" Kisame asked but calmer now that he knew Naruto wasn't taking away his free will.
"This one is to make you look different because you walking around considering your blue you will stick out like a sore thumb," Naruto explained.
Naruto really didn't mind explaining his seals considering he never really had a reason to use them so he was excited that he could explain them to someone.
"Do you know where Samehada is?" Kisame asked after it seemed three more seals were put on him.
"I don't know but I'm sure Itachi will be grabbing him," Naruto said.
"Do I know you too?" Kisame asked.
"You tried capturing me several times in the past with Itachi," Naruto said.
"Let me guess you did some type of seal to get out of capture," Kisame said.
"No, I used shadow clone Jitsu," Naruto said honestly. "And the one time you were about to catch me when I was twelve you threatened to break my legs but you and Itachi didn't want to fight Jiraiya," Naruto said with a smile as he remembered that day. "As a matter of fact, you guys almost didn't get away from him," Naruto added with a chuckle.
"No way in hell would I get caught," Kisame said appalled that Naruto would suggest that he could even get caught.
"Now that I think back on it you might have been let go by the perv seeing as Itachi was giving him information and he needed to get back with Sasuke and had to protect me from you guys," Naruto said honestly as he sat across from Kisame done with all seven seals.
"I would have never been caught kid," Kisame said through gritted teeth.
"But you're caught now," Naruto said with a smile. "By your old partner in the Akatsuki no less," Naruto said laughter bubbling out of his mouth.
Just as Kisame was going to retort Itachi and Fugaku walked into the room with Shisui and Minato. Kisame felt very outnumbered by all the men in the room. He could feel that most of them had very high chakra levels.
"Naruto how many seals did you put on him?" Minato asked as Shisui sat next to Naruto across from Kisame staring at the man with his Sharingan out.
"Seven," Naruto said with a laugh still on his lips.
"Naruto stops it," Itachi said softly.
"Okay," Naruto said and calmed down.
"Explain them to everyone here," Minato said to his son ignoring what just happened to his son and Itachi.
"The two on his wrist prevent him from attacking anyone that is my allies. If he does something special happens to his chakra flow. The one on the back of his neck is for his appearance. The two of his legs are the same as his wrist accept, they keep him from running away from me. The one on his upper right shoulder is for his connection to Samehada which I will have a connection to now too but it also hides your chakra from others recognizing it. The one on his left shoulder is for his connection to Itachi if something happens to him or me and he needs to find him. It also keeps him from talking about Konoha if he gets captured by an enemy but all my seals are set yet and keeps him connected with me," Naruto explained shocking everyone in the room.
"Can you activate them?" Shisui asked.
"Yes," Naruto said did his own hand seal, and activated them all at once making Kisame look differently by a large margin. "Did you get Samehada?" Naruto asked toward Itachi who lifted his right hand.
The sword seemed to really like Itachi and Kisame wasn't sure how he felt about that.
"Can I see the sword?" Naruto asked and Itachi wasn't sure how he felt about that. "Don't worry so much," Naruto said with a soft smile making Itachi hand him the sword.
Naruto set it on the table in the room and Kisame wanted to jump at Naruto to stop him from damaging his sword but Minato stopped him from getting close to his son with a kunai to his throat.
"Calm down Kisame," Itachi said softly putting a hand in front of him calmly.
"What's he doing?" Kisame asked still with the kunai to his throat not even phased by the current threat to his body.
"I'm connected with him," Naruto answered. "If something happens to you, I need to know where your sword is so I can track you down," Naruto said bluntly.
"Do you have to do it with my sword considering you already have all these damn seals on me?" Kisame snapped a bit he was upset knowing what was happening to his sword.
"I guess I don't have to do this to your sword but I don't like some of the things I'm reminded of when I look at your sword so I'm going to do it anyway. Also, this is a preventive measure to make sure your sword doesn't take my chakra," Naruto said as finished the seal.
There was a glint in Naruto's eye that showed he was immensely angry at something that only Itachi would know about. Well, or Naruto would know about it.
"It didn't hurt your sword and the seal will go away over time. I just don't want the sword to think it's okay to steal my chakra," Naruto explained to everyone in the room.
"We have to get him out of the room and somehow get people to believe he's going to be executed," Shisui said.
"I have an idea for that too," Naruto said with a smile.
Itachi was shocked how well thought out Naruto seemed to be right now. Naruto stood and made a clone. It wasn't a shadow clone but it was there nonetheless but it looked like Kisame.
"How the hell?" Kisame said but he looked different now since Naruto activated the seals.
"Well Naruto gets Kisame out of here to the apartment while we take the fake one to the square," Itachi said.
"Just make sure that you guys don't do anything to make the clone vanish before getting there," Naruto said grabbing Kisame and Samehada and vanishing in his foxfire.
Naruto and Kisame were sitting in his apartment waiting for Itachi to come in.
"What happened in the past?" Kisame asked.
"What are you talking about? Didn't Itachi show you?" Naruto asked.
"No, I didn't want to see his memories," Kisame said.
"Then why do you want to know now?" Naruto asked.
"Because I don't want to be in his Genjutsu and something tells me I can trust him," Kisame answered honestly.
"I can understand that way of thinking," Naruto said,
"Not only that but you don't seem to really like me but you're doing this," Kisame said.
"Because Itachi wants you alive and you didn't do anything to... the ones I love so I can push past it for Itachi," Naruto said as he looked toward the window just as Itachi was climbing in the window.
"Naruto it's crazy how you did his seal to make him look like a human," Itachi said making Naruto chuckle his eyes brightening at the comment.
"I'm right here you know," Kisame said.
"Okay come here so I can take the cuffs off," Itachi said standing up only for Naruto to take the keys to do it himself.
Kisame held out his hands and waited for the cuffs to come off before he felt it.
"I told you," Naruto said his eyes flashing red.
"Just wanted to know what happens if I did," Kisame said gasping on the floor.
"Kisame did you think he was joking?" Itachi asked looking on the ground where his friend was on the floor. "Speaking of which what happened to him?" Itachi asked.
"You know that memory you showed me of your old teammates who attacked you but you put them into a Genjutsu if they were to ever attack you, I got my idea from that which is neat right?" Naruto asked excitedly.
"You sure are using the past as a way to help us out," Itachi said not being able to help the smile that appeared on his face from being able to inspire something Naruto did.
"I'm still here," Kisame said annoyed that it seemed like the two were flirt while he was on the floor.
"Well, you wouldn't be on the floor if you didn't just try something stupid. My word is bond remember that," Naruto said firmly and coldly.
"Naruto," Itachi said softly making Naruto relax as he helped Kisame sit up.
"Now we have to get going I'm assuming?" Naruto asked.
"Yes, he said that we should take off while everyone is distracted," Itachi said as he got some stuff ready for their leave again.
"Did they forget that we can get out of here by the Flying Rajin?" Naruto asked.
"Probably," Itachi said with a small smile on his face.
"Let's get going then before I get the memory of my clone," Naruto said in a voice full of sadness which was odd.
Itachi pulled Naruto toward the other room.
"What's wrong?" Itachi asked.
"I... it's weird feeling my clones die in that way," Naruto said.
"Ah... yeah let's get out of here," Itachi said.
Naruto and Itachi finished packing and Naruto made sure to grab extra clothes for Kisame at the store while the other two made it out of the village.
"You ready?" Itachi asked as Naruto came out of the village with Samehada on his back.
"Are you going to give me back Samehada?" Kisame asked in a snappish tone making Naruto look at him throwing the sword back at the man without much thought in it.
Kisame was momentarily shocked before he put Samehada back on his back without another word. He felt more comfortable now with his sword but he was still stuck because the seals wouldn't let him get away.
This was going to be a long trip for the three of them.
