Chapter 6
Morgan stood around the map with Governor Swann, Commodore Norrington, Gillette and a few others. Her lower lip was between her teeth as she looked at the map. She knew that Norrington was going to grill her due to her being the daughter of a pirate and him not deeming her dangerous was well under the wrong impression. She was dangerous, but she wasn't going to let him know that. Morgan's head jerked as she heard the door slammed open and Will coming in. Her brows furrowed slightly not knowing who he was and why he was in such a state.
"They've taken her! They've taken Elizabeth!"
The group turned and stared at him.
"We're aware of the situation. Thanks to Miss Morgan here." Norrington said, jerking his head slightly to where the young woman stood.
Morgan shifted a little seeing Will turning his attention to her with his brows furrowed seeing her clothing and it wasn't fitting for a woman to wear.
"We have to hunt them down - and save her!"
"Where do you suppose we start? If you have any information that concerns my daughter, then share it! If anyone does, tell me!"
Will didn't reply.
"Leave, Mr. Turner."
Murtogg's eyes widened remembering something. "That Jack Sparrow ... he talked about the Black Pearl."
"Mentioned it, is more what he did." Mullroy said, looking over at Murtogg with a look.
"Still -"
"We can ask him where it is - maybe he can lead us to it!"
"That pirate tried to kill my daughter. We could never trust a word he said!" Governor Swann said angrily.
Morgan let out a breath and slowly began to move away from the group. Governor Swann would never trust a word that her father would say and what would make her think that they would trust her word. After all, she was the daughter of a pirate.
"We could strike a bargain -"
"No. The pirates who invaded this fort left Sparrow locked in his cell. Ergo, he is not their ally, and therefore of no value. We will determine their most likely course, and launch a search mission that sails with the tide."
Will slammed his boarding ax into the desk, through the map. "That's not good enough! This is Elizabeth's life!"
Norrington was quick to react, throwing a strong arm across Will's back and guided him roughly to the door where Morgan now stood. "Mr. Turner, this is not the time for rash actions. Do not make the mistake of thinking you are the only man here who loves Elizabeth. Now, go home." He said opening the door before turning away.
Will let out a breath as he watched him walk back to the desk.
Morgan suddenly grabbed his arm and dragged him out the door shutting.
Will jerked his arm from her. "Who are you?"
"The name is Morgan." She said looking at Will. "Morgan Sparrow."
Will looked at her slightly frozen. "You're…"
"The daughter of Jack Sparrow, the very man that is locked in a cell here, yes. He knows where to go, but they're too strong headed to even think of asking my father properly for help."
"Do you know where the Pearl goes…"
Morgan let out a breath. "I was just a child when I was on the Pearl last. My father would know more than me."
Will took a breath and nodded his head slowly knowing that she was hopefully telling the truth.
"You want to save her, your lass, the lass that I saved with Jack."
"You… you saved her from the water?"
"Aye. And if the Commodore wouldn't have known my father was a pirate," She let out a breath shaking her head lightly. "He wouldn't have threatened Elizabeth trying to escape them. Come on…"
Will nodded his head and slowly went with Morgan to where the cells were. Will opened the door and slowly slipped in looking around.
Jack lounged on the floor of his cell, relaxed and unconcerned.
Will marched up to the bars.
Morgan let out a breath following him shaking her head lightly.
"Are you familiar with that ship? The Black Pearl?" Will questioned his questions coming out in quick succession.
"Somewhat." Jack said slowly, sitting up to look at Will. His eyes widened slightly when he saw Morgan standing there. He was glad that she was safe and sound and wasn't hurt by the mutinous crew that had left him and her years ago on an island.
"Where does it make a berth?"
"Surely you've heard the stories? The Black Pearl sails from the dreaded Isla de Mureta ... an island that cannot be found - except by those who already know where it is."
"The ship's real enough. So its anchorage must be a real place. Where is it?"
"Why ask me?"
"Because you're a pirate."
"And you want to turn pirate yourself?"
"Never. They took Miss Swann."
"So it is that you found a girl. Well, if you're intending to brave all and hasten to her rescue and so win fair lady's heart, you'll have to do it alone. I see no profit in it for me."
Will slammed his fist against the bars in frustration.
Jack looked surprised at the outburst from Will.
Morgan crossed her arms, her brows furrowed. It wasn't like her father was going to be willing to trust this young man even though it could reunite him with her mother.
Will thought for a few moments before making his choice. "I can get you out of here."
"How? The key's run off."
Will examined the cell. "I helped build these cells. Those are hook-and-ring hinges. The proper application of strength, the door'll lift free. Just calls for the right lever and fulcrum …"
Jack watched Will as he spoke and then it dawned on him that he was a splitting image of someone he knew in his past. "Your name is Turner."
Will looked at him puzzled. "Yes. Will Turner."
Jack grinned at the thought. "Will Turner…" He got up to his feet. "I'll tell you what, Mr. Turner. I've changed my mind. You spring me from this cell, and on pain of death, I'll take you to the Black Pearl." He stuck his hand out. "Do we have an accord?"
Will gave him a suspicious look. The deal was too good.
Jack kept his hand out still grinning.
Will shook it suddenly, sealing his fate. "Agreed."
"Agreed!"
Morgan moved towards the cell looking at her father. "I'm coming with you." She said softly.
Jack looked at his daughter with a worried gaze. "Your mother would never forgive me if you get hurt."
"Father, I'm old enough to handle myself. You taught me everything I know." She said softly, shaking her head lightly. "You're not gonna talk me out of this." Morgan suddenly moved away as Will made a chair, his fulcrum, and levers the long bench under the door.
He pushed it on the cell door causing it to rise and then it fell forward crashing down onto the bench and chair.
Jack looked at Will impressed. He came out of the cell.
"Someone will have heard that. Hurry." Will said heading for the door.
Jack searched the desk and cupboards. "Not without my effects."
"We need to go!"
Jack found his pistol, sword belt and the compass. He strapped on the belt and checked the shot in his pistol.
"Why are you bothering with that?"
"My business, Will. As for your business - one question, or there's no use going." He joined Will and Morgan at the door. "This girl - what does she mean to you? How far are you willing to go to save her?"
"I'd die for her."
"Good."
"No problems then." Morgan said looking at her father knowing that this was fairly dangerous. She wondered if Will knew what he was getting into. If not then there would be some major problems.
