Chapter 11
A drunken man laid in the mud, having a friendly conversation with two pigs. He wore an old tattered Navy Jacket.
Morgan shook her head lightly seeing that the man was fairly drunk if he was talking to pigs.
Suddenly water was splashed across his face causing him to sputter and roar in anger turning sharply to see who had dumped water on him. "Curse you for breathing, you slack-jawed idiot." He immediately recognized Jack. "Mother's love, Jack, you know better than to wake a man when he's sleeping. It's bad luck!"
"Well, fortunately, I know how to counter it. The man who did the waking buys the man who was sleeping a drink, and the man who was sleeping drinks it while listening to a proposition."
"Aye, that'll about do it."
Morgan held her hand out and helped Gibbs up to his feet.
Suddenly Gibbs was hit with another wave of water.
Will stood there with the bucket in his hands.
"Blast it, I'm already awake!"
"I know. That was for the smell."
Morgan let out a soft laugh and shook her head lightly knowing that Gibbs wasn't happy about what had happened, but he had no choice in the matter, he was going to be getting a drink anyways.
PIRATES
Jack, Gibbs, and Morgan sat at a table in the shadows, a single candle illuminated them, speaking in hushed voices.
Will was away from them at the door, hand on his sword, keeping a lookout to make sure that nothing would happen.
A tankard sat down in front of Gibbs.
Gibbs lifted it to take a sip of it.
"Just the one." Morgan pointed out to Gibbs.
Gibbs paused for a moment and took a dainty sip from the tankard. "Make it last, then. Now, what's the nature of this venture of yours?"
"First - have you found me a crew?" Jack questioned looking at Gibbs.
"Oh, there's a hard tale, Jack. Most of the decent pirates in town won't sail with you - seem to think you're a jinx."
"Now where, I wonder, would they have gotten that idea?"
Gibbs evaded answering him by taking a long sip.
Jack leaned forward.
Gibbs leaned forward as well.
"I'm going after the Black Pearl."
Morgan nodded her head at what her father had said.
Gibbs straightened up like he had been hit. He stared at Jack. He reached for the drink as if to down it, but then sat it back down. He leaned forward again, Jack hadn't moved. "Say again?"
"I'm going after the Black Pearl. I know where it's going to be, and I'm going to take it."
"Jack, it's a fool's errand: You've heard the tales they tell about the Pearl."
"Aye, and that's why I know where it's going to be, and that's why I know what Barbossa is up to. All I need is a crew."
Gibbs shook his head. "A fool's errand."
"Not if the fool has something Barbossa wants. Something he needs."
"And you've got that, have you?"
Jack smiled enigmatically, and shifted his eyes behind him, Will, still on guard, glaring at a sailor away from the table. "Back there, guarding the door is the son of old Bootstrap Bill Turner."
Gibbs' eyes widened over the edge of his tankard. He looked over at Will before smiling. "Well, lookee there. I'll allow you may be onto something, Jack." He considered for a moment and then nodded his head. "There's bound to be sailors on this rock crazy as you. I'll find some men." Gibbs downed his drink and slammed the tankard on the table.
Will quickly reacted to the sound, drawing both sword and dagger, kicking a table over for cover and whirled on anyone who moved.
Morgan let out a breath and shook her head lightly.
"Kid's a bit of a stick, isn't he?"
"That he is." Jack and Morgan said at the same time agreeing with one another.
Morgan let out a breath. "Perhaps we should keep the reason why we brought him along a secret for now."
Jack looked over at his daughter. "You don't think I'm doing the right thing?"
"Father, he's being bargained with Barbossa. I remember your former first mate. How much of a scallywag he was." Morgan shook her head. "You're sentencing him to his death."
Jack rolled his eyes a little bit. "When were you getting the heart?"
Morgan scoffed a little bit looking away from her father crossing her arms huffing a little bit.
