Authoress Note: Welcome to Chapter 16 of Fake It. Thank you to those who have left reviews. It really does mean a lot to me. I hope that you guys enjoy this next chapter. I'm trying my best with writing this and I'm making sure that the chapters are about as long as I can get them and I think that this story will be longer than the other Pirates of the Caribbean story, the Elder Swann series. Without further ado Chapter 16. ENJOY!
Chapter 16
Gibbs glanced at Elizabeth and Will who were talking alone on the forecastle shaking his head. "Three women on board? A man don't have to be superstitious to know that's trouble."
Morgan looked over at Gibbs. "You think that it's always bad to have a woman on board. If ye ever met my mother, you wouldn't have thought that. Women are just as capable Gibbs." Morgan said moving past the older man slowly moving towards the helm letting out a soft breath. She couldn't believe that Will pretty much had told her that Jack had stayed behind which meant a rather large amount of trouble. She looked out on the horizon taking a soft breath.
Gibbs peered forward, scanning the horizon. There was a tiny island in front of them. "Shift your heading, steer clear of that island. Fifteen degrees starboard."
On the aft deck, Cotton concentrated on his work, securing a halyard.
Suddenly Cotton's parrot flapped its wings and took off, landing on the starboard bulwark, squawking. "Dead men tell NO tales! Dead men tell NO tales! Dead men tell NO tales!"
Cotton looked up on the horizon following them were black sails.
AnaMaria and Gibbs turned, seeing the ship following them.
Morgan slowly came up behind them pursing her lips together.
"Can we outrun them?" AnaMaria questioned softly looking over at Gibbs and Morgan.
Morgan shook her head lightly, swallowing the lump in her throat. "Not a chance. Make for the reef."
AnaMaria nodded her head and took her place to sail the ship towards the reef.
Gibbs put his hand on Morgan's shoulder and squeezed it lightly. "I know yer worried."
Morgan nodded her head weakly.
The Interceptor tack on, leaving long white waves. The Black Pearl matched it, gaining speed.
Meanwhile Barbossa and Pintel eyed the Interceptor.
Bonnie pursed her lips together as she was behind the wheel keeping the ship on track thanks to Barbossa trusting her enough to sail the Pearl.
"What's he doing? Is her going to run her aground?"
The Pearl was now close behind the Interceptor and the Interceptor was headed for the island.
Morgan turned her head sharply, her voice wavering slightly. "Drop the forward anchor!"
A sailor at the stern of the ship pulled the release and the ship's anchor raced down into the water, the metal chain jumping and twisting on the deck. The chain stopped and the sailor quickly locked it.
With its forward momentum and the anchor down, the Interceptor makes the turn too quickly, pivoting around the anchor.
Morgan gasped and grasped onto the ropes that were near her so she didn't fall over.
Barbossa and Pintel watched as the huge ship brought its cannons to bear right in front of them.
"All hands! Prepare to come about!"
But for the moment the Interceptor had the advantage and it took it. Its cannons boomed and cannonballs rained down on them.
Jack was down in the brig looking out the porthole.
Twigg was the guard for Jack's cell.
"Don't hit my ship! I mean, kill the lying scoundrel - I'm a little conflicted, here."
Twigg just gave him a look.
Suddenly loud fires of two dozen cannons firing all at once sent cannon balls raining down onto the Interceptor.
Sailors began to dive in cover, leaving their cannons.
Morgan ducked, her heart raced in her chest when she realized that they were out numbered with the cannon fire.
Back on the Pearl Barbossa laughed.
Bonnie took a breath, closing her eyes unsure of if her daughter was on the ship and it broke her heart if her daughter was on there and was killed.
"Strike your colors, you bloody cockroaches!"
Another round of fire, Barbossa showed no mercy to them.
AnaMaria looked at Gibbs and Morgan who were trying to dodge the attacks on the ship as much as they could. "Looks like they mean to send us under."
"There - she's raised the Jolly Roger, upside down."
AnaMaria, Gibbs, Cotton, Morgan, and even Elizabeth all knew what it meant. Will didn't know what it meant.
Will looked over to Gibbs for an explanation for what was going on.
"It's a signal. If we resist, it won't just be death. There'll be torture as well." Gibbs explained to Will.
"We're not going to just surrender!" Will snapped looking at Gibbs.
"That we are."
"We have no choice Will, you're expecting us to die." Morgan snapped as she looked at Will with narrowed eyes.
The Pearl fired again, a double-ball shot with a chain connecting the two. It hit the main mast dead on causing it to crack and splintering falling to the deck below. The Pearl moved alongside the Interceptor, preparing to board.
"We can at least fight - we might be able to kill a few-" Will said looking at them.
"Will - it'll go worse for us, for Elizabeth, especially if we fight."
Will stared at Gibbs with wide eyes. He then nodded his head, but his expression on his face was still defiant.
The deck began to slant and Morgan knew right away that the ship was going down.
Pirates began to swarm across on the ropes and took control of the Interceptor.
PIRATES
Will and Elizabeth were brought in front of Barbossa.
Jack stood beside Barbossa manacled.
Gibbs, AnaMaria, Morgan, Cotton, and the other crew members huddled together in a group.
Morgan swallowed the lump in her throat rather concerned.
"Welcome back, Miss. Last time on board, you played me right clever, make pretending and all. I hope your stay this time is more pleasant. Boys, show her some hospitality!" Barbossa said, shoving her towards a group of pirates.
They yell their approval of what their captain had said.
She was pushed from one to another.
Bonnie looked away rather disgusted about the whole thing.
Will suddenly head butted the pirate behind him and grabbed a pistol waving it at the pirates. "She goes free!" He leapt onto the ship's rail. He steadied himself with a hand on the rigging. He pointed the pistol at Barbossa.
"What's in your head, boy?"
"She. Goes. Free."
"You've got one shot - and we can't die."
"You can't. I can." Will said, leaning over the ocean.
"No!" Elizabeth shouted her eyes wide.
Morgan groaned and gripped her hands tightly at her sides.
Jack pushed himself forward. "Will - don't do anything stupid! Don't say anything stupid -"
"My name is Will Turner, the son of Bootstrap Bill Turner. His blood runs in my veins." He raised the gun to his head. "You need my blood. And on my word I will pull this trigger, and sink all the way down to Davy Jones' Locker! "
Pintel squinted at Will and the other pirates murmured in surprise.
"It's true - he's the spittin' image of Old Bootstrap. Even talks the same!" Twigg said looking closer at Will.
Jack dropped his head.
Barbossa grinned at Jack seeing the defeated look on Jack's face. "Looks like your back to having nothing to offer."
"And he's got Old Bill's courage. A curse on him, and you!" Pintel said sharply.
Barbossa stepped forward. "Enough of that!" He snapped at Pintel. "Name your terms."
"Elizabeth goes free!"
"We got that part. Anything else?"
"And Jack. And Morgan. And the crew. Free and unharmed. If you agree ... then ... I will remain with you."
Barbossa considered it as his crew waited. "Agreed. You have my word, as a gentleman of fortune -"
"Will - you can't trust him." Elizabeth said softly to Will. Her heart rammed in her chest.
"You must swear by the Holy Bible."
"Eh? You have my word, then - on the Good Book, I do swear, and the Lord spare my worthless soul." Barbossa crossed himself as many of his men did the same.
Will lowered his gun and stepped down.
The pirates surrounded him and took away the pistol.
"Boatswain! Take your captives below decks. Chain them in the galley, and teach 'em how to row."
Gibbs, AnaMaria, Cotton and the rest of them are led away except for Morgan who was left alone.
Morgan nibbled her lower lip knowing what this meant. Will had blown her cover of being part of the crew. Barbossa now knew that she was very much alive and she knew that he hated her for no reason at all.
Barbossa looked out to sea, towards the islet. "Hah. Look there. That's the very same island we made Jack governor of on our last trip with his brat of a child Morgan." He nodded his head. "When you sail the open sea as long as I, you learn to trust the signs fate sends your way."
Gibbs looked rather dejected. "Amen to that …"
"Jack, Elizabeth, Morgan ... I'm a man of my word and you're to be set free, right quick. Men, break out the plank!"
A loud cheer went up through the pirates.
Will suddenly realized what Barbossa was planning to do. He struggled against his captors. "No! You gave your word!"
"Quite, boy, or you'll lose your tongue. Those who know me know I wouldn't cross my word, and bring down bad luck on the ship." Barbossa nodded his head. "I agreed to set them free. I didn't when ... nor where."
Bonnie gripped her hands tightly at her sides knowing that this was going to be the end of everything. She would lose her husband and lose her daughter all over again.
