Chapter 7

Meanwhile in Konoha,

As the Rebels prepared for their last stand against Yagura's forces in Kirigakure, the atmosphere was much more peaceful and pleasant in Konoha.

In the office of the Hokage, Minato Namikaze, the man hailed as the Yellow Flash and the current strongest Kage in all of Elemental Nations at the moment, was going through his regular batch of paperwork, just like every other day.

Much like his speed in battle, he was done with paperwork pretty quickly too. As soon as he was done, he looked at a photo frame by the side of his table, a picture that showed his family. While for most people a family photo was something that brought them great joy, for Minato that particular photo reminded him of his failure as a father and ignited deep feelings of regret and self-loathing within him.

It was a picture that showed both him and his wife, Kushina, together with ALL their children. All 4 of their children. Even the child they had forgotten after his fourth birthday. Their second son, Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze.

It all came crashing down for the family 6 months after their children's birthday.

Flashback

At the Namikaze-Uzumaki Household, quite a group of people had gathered. Even a single person from the number of famous and powerful shinobi sitting in that particular room alone could destroy the morale of battalions of enemy shinobi, if they ever showed their face on the battlefield. The people gathered there were Minato Naimkaze, Kushina Uzumaki, Tsunade Senju, Jiraiya the Toad Sage and Hiruzen Sarutobi, someone who was attending a party for the first time in 9 years.

Sarutobi had been extremely busy managing his clan, as well as taking care of his wife who had been left disabled in the Kyuubi attack 9 years ago, along with his 5-year-old grandson who had nlost both of his parents on a mission a couple of years ago. His son Asuma had finally come home after serving as the guard of the Daimyo for a few years, hence some responsibility was off his shoulders for the time being.

Due to him being free, Jiraiya had organized a party with only a few people who were close to him having been invited. Everyone was drinking and having fun. The Namikaze children were all out with their friends so the adults had the house to themselves and were having a great time together.

Soon, the doorbell rang and when Tsunade opened the door, she was surprised to see her granduncle and her old teammate, Orochimaru there. She invited them in thinking that they would have been invited to the party, and they were.

They greeted everyone there and sat down, only speaking when necessary, unlike Jiraiya who had to open his mouth at everything.

The topic soon changed to the progress of the Uzumaki-Namikaze children and how their ninja training was going. Jiraiya was boasting of the progress of his students, Menma and Natsumi who had already started controlling the first tail of the Kyuubi's chakra and had an affinity towards earth and water, respectively. They had already used it once to summon Gamabunta, the Boss summon of the Toad Clan.

Even Tsunade praised her student Mito who had great Chakra control and was extremely talented in medical arts. She was also progressing well with her control of the Kyuubi's chakra and had an affinity towards water, much like her sister, but had a secondary affinity towards wind as well, but it wasn't that strong.

Even Minato and Kushina praised their children and how all of them were going to be extremely powerful shinobi in the future. They thought this was the end of the conversation and soon moved on to other topics. But then Hiruzen asked a question that caused silence to envelop the room.

"And how is Naruto-kun progressing with his training?"

It was so quite that even the breathing of the ANBU stationed outside the house of their Hokage could be heard. Hiruzen was confused seeing the uncomfortable silence and the blank look on everyone's faces, while Tobirama and Orochimaru just sat quietly with their eyes closed.

He was unsure of what was happening until Jiraiya asked, "Who?"

That one word was enough for Hiruzen to understand the situation that had been created in his absence. He quickly rounded off towards Minato and Kushina and asked, "Where is Naruto-kun, Kushina, Minato? You remember Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze? Your second son, the eldest of the triplets? The one who was always hanging off Kushina's shoulders?"

It was then something inside Kushina's mind snapped. Memories of a cute child with ice blue eyes and red that resembled blood and a true smile on his face, bombarded her mind. Memories of a child who had been attacked moments after his birth. Memories of a child whose first words had been 'Kaa-chan'.

She couldn't handle it anymore and tears started flowing from her eyes as her eyes widened and she kept staring at the floor.

Minato quickly stood up and ran up the stairs of their house, trying to remember where the room of his missing son was. He searched the entire floor and finally came at an old worn-out door that looked as if it had not been dusted in ages. He opened it and the scene he was greeted to made him cry.

The room was bare, only a small bed fit for a child that had layers of dirt and dust covering it along with an empty bookshelf and cupboard. There was nothing there that showed that a child lived there and it just added to the rising panic in his heart.

He ran down and was just about to call the ANBU to search for his son when something Orochimaru said shocked the entire room. "You were correct as always, Tobirama-sama. Looks like sensei did remember him after all."

"What do you mean, Orochimaru? Where is my son?!" Kushina shouted as Tsunade held on to her and Jiraiya just sat there in shock. He did not see this coming. No one did. Even Hiruzen was surprised by his student's actions.

"I don't believe you have the right to call him your son, Kushina. After all, you did not remember his existence ever since the day the Toad Pervert brought news of the prophecy to you and your husband. Tell me, do you remember anything about him from that day forth?" Tobirama said as he finally opened him eyes, and although he was as calm as always, anyone could see the fury beyond those eyes.

Both parents flinched and looked down at the floor, not daring to look the man in the eyes. They knew they fucked up but they did not know the extent of their neglect and how that made their son feel.

"What do you mean sensei? Do you know where Naruto-kun is?" Hiruzen asked of his old teacher since he and Orochimaru were the only ones who were calm throughout the event.

"Yes Saru, I know where Naruto is," Tobirama spoke as he sighed before he started explaining how he stumbled upon Naruto near the Clan Districts and how he was impressed by the child so he took him on as a student. After the debacle regarding heirships on his 8th birthday, using a secret jutsu of the Senju Clan, he blood-adopted Naruto into the Senju Family and made him his heir.

He also spoke about his abilities, his first kill, his friendship with the Hyuga and Uchiha girl and lastly, how he was currently travelling halfway across the continent with nothing more than his skills and a few basic camping supplies and weaponry to aid him.

By the end of the explanation, Kushina was openly sobbing, Minato looked like he was close to a heart attack, Tsunade had her head down as she comforted Kushina, and Jiraiya looked like he wanted to dig a hole and die in it due to stares full of disgust being showered at him, courtesy of his old teacher and male teammate.

"I send one of my summons every two months to keep a tab on his whereabouts and if the recent letter I got from him is accurate, then that means he is currently training in Iron Country with Mifune personally overlooking his training. He is also the one who has been exterminating those bandit camps," Orochimaru said, shocking everyone once again, except Tobirama.

"So, you see Kushina, what he does or where he is, is none of your concern since you disowned him from the family when you took his heirship away from him. He is now only an Uzumaki in name. He is a Senju now and not just a Senju, a Senju who is also the Clan Heir. So, advise you to not to trouble him," Tobirama said before he and Orochimaru left just as quietly as they had come. Even Sarutobi decided to leave and hoped that Naruto would return safely.

And just like that, the family fell apart.

Flashback Ends

Later that night when the kids came back and were told of the events that took place earlier that day, their reaction was not something Minato expected to hear.

Menma and Natsumi just laughed and made fun of the 'loser of the family' while Mito acted completely indifferent towards the topic, not caring about her brother at all. If her parents and godparents did not care, why should see?

When Minato's KI pressure came bearing down on them, they understood that they should have kept their mouths shut. Minato very coldly told them to shut up and warned them that there shall be consequences should this happen ever again and if he ever heard them talking about their brother like that again.

Kushina had just locked herself in her room, sounds of sobbing could be heard all day as she would only do that and clutch to the last photo they had where all 6 of them were together, and that was when Naruto was 5 years old. She had lost her son due to a stupid prophecy and listening to that pervert and now he was not even her son anymore. This was the first time she felt true despair, even the events of the Nine-tails attack and her almost successful kidnapping by Kumo shinobi did not compare to it.

Life for the family had pretty much fallen apart at that point, with only Kushina and Minato's drive to be better parents keeping them together now. The siblings did not care about their other sibling and as such had no reaction towards his situation.

Tsunade had been feeling pretty disappointed in herself and had gone back to drinking copious amounts of alcohol daily, causing Shizune to take up her place at the hospital. Training Mito was the only time she was somewhat sober, but anyone could see that she was not herself at that point. The amount of guilt she had been feeling when she realized that it was due to her that the poor child had to suffer was eating her alive.

Jiraiya was down for a few days but was back to normal soon, rationalizing and justifying his actions as necessary for the 'greater good'. He began training Menma and Natsumi harder than ever, but helping them in controlling just the Kyuubi's chakra wasn't going to cut it. But unfortunately, Jiraiya was a shitty teacher.

Just when Minato had thought that things had started to calm down, Konoha was hit with another major blow.

Elder Danzo and his Ne operatives had slaughtered a lot of the Uchiha Force and had also stolen the Sharingan of some of them. This caused an uproar in the village as no one thought that an elder would exterminate a major clan of the village. The Uchiha Clan were out for blood and when other crimes of Danzo came out, such as selling sensitive intel about the village to the enemies, sabotaging missions, kidnapping orphans, desecrating graves of many notable shinobis etc. the village began doubting the ability of both the Sandaime and the Yondaime.

They were deeply enraged when it was revealed that it was due to Danzo that Sakumo's mission failed and he committed suicide, causing the Third Shinobi War to go off, and the fact that he helped various villages in killing off members of the Senju Clan when they were out on missions, just so he could sit his old wrinkly butt down on the seat of the Hokage.

Many hunter-nin and ANBU squads were sent after the bastard and he was labeled an S-rank nuke nin. However, they all returned empty hand. The village was under martial rule and no one was allowed in and out of the village. Minato had to offer a lot of explanations and work overtime a lot so that the village doesn't break out into a civil war and he doesn't lose his eat, or worse his head.

However, this event was a major one in the life of one girl.

Flashback

Everyday for the past two years, Ai Hayasaka-Hyuga and Kaguya Uchiha would get up every morning and go their secret training ground at the Senju Clan compound and train with their teachers, Orochimaru and Shisui Uchiha in the shinobi arts. Tobirama himself would supervise their training and point out a few methods to help them out. The two girls were living the dream of many shinobi.

But they still were not happy.

Firstly, their very dear friend had been gone for two years now and it just wasn't the same without him. Secondly, both of them were from clans that were known and valued for their visual prowess, their dojutsu. Something neither of them had awakened yet.

At least in Ai's case, they knew how to help her awaken her dojutsu, even though it would be a while before she will be able to. But for Kaguya, they did not understand why she was unable to awaken her Sharingan. With the amount of training she goes through she should have easily awoken the first or even the second stage of the Sharingan.

But in her mind if her dojutsu hadn't unlocked yet, that means she isn't training enough. Hence, after pleading to Tobirama once again, she began training in the evening as well. This time it would only be her and Tobirama, with Shisui or Orochimaru joining them sometimes.

Today was also no different than any other day. Tobirama was training her in controlling her wind chakra. She was progressing fairly well with her elemental manipulation training so it wasn't that hard for her to learn basic C-rank and low B-rank ninjutsu for her elemental affinities but her chakra capacity was becoming an obstacle. Shisui would be the one who would usually train help her train her fire affinity while mainly Orochimaru and Tobirama, to a lesser extent, helped her with her Earth affinity.

As she was practicing with Tobirama watching over her, the two were suddenly interrupted with the sound of someone coming in using the body-flicker technique. When they turned around to see who it was, they were left shocked. Not because of the identity of the person, but because of the condition he was in.

It was Shisui. But the condition he was in surprised both of them. He was bleeding all over and had many cuts over his body that looked to have been made from wind ninjutsu and sword attacks. He was barely able to stand and as soon as he stumbled, both Kaguya and Tobirama were at his side, holding him and laying him down gently.

"Shisui-nii! Are you alright?! Talk to me?!" Kaguya cried as she quickly made a clone and told it to go and bring Orochimaru there so that they could help heal him.

Shisui just smiled weakly and spoke in a hoarse voice, "I apologize Kaguya-chan, but I don't think… I will be able to see you… mature into a strong kunoichi… or teach you more of my ninjutsu… like I promised."

"NO! no, don't worry! Orochimaru-sama will fix you up and you will be fine!" She said as tears mercilessly fell down her cheeks as she continued to hold her cousin and teacher's hand, hoping for some kind of miracle to take place.

"It is useless… please Kaguya-chan… listen to what I am saying now… please.

A couple of months ago… the Hokage got suspicious about Danzo, the elder's movements. He told me to infiltrate his organization, a secret organization… that he ran called ROOT or Ne, a part of ANBU that was disbanded… after the Third War, but Hokage-sama recently found… he didn't disband the organization like he was ordered to.

I was successful in infiltrating and got to know… that he is planning something big, to take the position of Hokage for himself. I was going to inform… Minato-sama today, but I did not realize my cover… had been blown and I was attacked by Danzo and his forces. I was able to injure him… and kill his men, but I suffered… too many injuries. I don't think I'll make it, so please… take care of yourself… as well as the village… and live happily," Shisui said as his breathing turned more labored and he began coughing blood.

Orochimaru arrived soon and after diagnosing him, even he could only shake his head as the damage was too severe to allow anyone to successfully heal him. Kaguya could do nothing but sob harder as she clutched onto Shisui for what maybe the last time.

Shisui then turned towards Tobirama, who was deathly silent but anyone could see the rage he was radiating as his chakra was raging violently. Danzo was his student after all, he could not help but be disappointed.

"Tobirama-sama… I trust you know what to do with… these eyes once I pass away. Keep them for her… she will need them someday," Shisui said as his sharingan changed and a more distinct, 4-point pinwheel pattern appeared in his eyes. This greatly surprised Tobirama.

He of course knew the significance of these eyes, and he understood what Shisui meant as well. He knew what he meant when he said Kaguya would need them in the future, so he gave him a firm nod and promised the young lad that he would definitely honor his final wishes. He would never let him or his new student down and vowed in his heart that he would never let her fall against the curse of hatred.

"Kaguya-chan… I had prepared a gift… for you. But I dont think… I will be able to… give it to you now. So, go to my house… under the bed… there is something special for you. Think of it as a goodbye present."

His body could hold on no longer and his breathing started to slow down as he slowly began succumbing to his injuries. But just before he closed his eyes and breathed his last, he smiled and said, "Don't cry... Death is a natural part of life... Remember Kaguya-chan… I am... always... proud of... you."

With that Uchiha Shisui died peacefully with a smile on his face.

Suddenly, there was a violent outburst of chakra from Kaguya who was still hugging her dead brother's corpse and sobbing her heart out, but if one who was a sensor as good as Tobirama, they could sense that something had been… unsealed within the girl.

"Kaguya?" Tobirama slowly called out as to not startle the young girl, he knew how traumatic losing someone close to you at such a young age can be like, so he approached her with caution.

But the moment the young lady turned around and looked at him with tear-filled eyes, Tobirama was left shell shocked.

Because in place of the warm and gentle red eyes that she had, her eyes were now filled with tears and the irises of her eyes now had a black ring in the middle with 3 tomoes furiously spinning, as she continued to pour her heart out.

Tobirama gently hugged the child as she continued to get rid of her anguish before he felt her calm down and he gently pressed a pressure point on her neck so that she could go to sleep, it had been a really tough day for her after all.

That was the day Kaguya Uchiha had been reborn, as a true Uchiha.

Flashback End

Later, while she was unconscious, Orochimaru and Tobirama scanned her body and tried to discern the reason why her sharingan was activated so differently from the other members of her clan, as it took too long for her too activate it and even then, when it did, it was a fully matured sharingan and not the usual one of two tomoe stage.

This stumped them and they were curious to find the reason. And they did.

Apparently, for some reason, when Kaguya was in her mother's womb, her undeveloped body had somehow been nourished with the unique chakra that is necessary for the Uchiha's to activate their sharingan. Tobirama suspects it to be Yin chakra.

This caused her optic nerves to develop some sort of resistance to it, prveneting her from activating her dojutsu and changed her eye color to red as well. However, this caused the unique chakra that is produced in their body to accumulate over time until her emotions were naturally pushed over the edge due to the death of Shisui Uchiha and hence, she was finally able to use her sharingan. They do not know if it will be the same for her when she tries to achieve her Mangekyou Sharingan.

Ever since that day, training for Kaguya became much more tough since Tobirama would not spare her since she could now master ninjutsu easily so he wanted her to train more and more. Her chakra capacity was also not that much when compared to Naruto and monsters like Kisame, hence her training would also include a schedule designed to specifically help her increase her chakra capacity and control.

He was going to make sure that she stayed on the path of righteousness and do not give in to the temptation of the Curse of Hatred that has consumed the minds of many Uchihas. He was going to make sure that she will have an anchor to this village and more importantly herself.

Failure was no option. Because if he failed, Konoha would not be able to face another monster who would make Madara Uchiha look tame.

Author's Notes

Well, this chapter is pretty much just a flashback kind of thing. The next chapter will be the battle in Kiri and Genin graduation. About the poll regarding the summons, right now the Titans are winning with phoenixes in second. So, whoever wins shall be Naruto's summon while the other two (the second and the third) shall be the summon for Kaguya and Ai.

Harem: Kaguya, Ai, Temari, Robin, Nami and Hancock.

Many want Ino so I'll try to add her but I am not making any promises. As for Mei, she might not be in the harem but they might just have a night together or something. If you want her in the harem, too then tell me.
