Chapter 9: Grimm Studies 4: Ursai
Azure (1st Person)
"Hello, class!" Port said boisterously. "It's good to see you one last time before break."
The faces facing us were not as enthused. Can't really blame them. I went back to futzing with the - oh, come on! I input my password!
"Today, we will be doing another deep dive into a specific type of Grimm. Today, we will be looking at the giant bears; Ursai!"
Oh crap, assistant teacher ID, not personal password. Let's see… oh, right, Sal3mG0Die.
"- as soon as my assistant pulls up the slideshow." Port turned to me. I quickly alt-tabbed out, opened up the day's slideshow, and projected it. Switch control to the clicker thingy.
"And here we go." I said somewhat quietly. A photo of an Ursa appeared.
Port began teaching. "Ursai are giant bears, as I have already said. They have four large, terrifying paws on thick but short legs. Their masks are blah blah…" I tuned him out and went back to futzing with the printer. Okay, so I got in, I should just be able to - oh, right, Google PDFs are not compatible with Remnant printers.
"... Reminds me of that time I killed one by bear-wrestling it. But I'm getting away from myself. If an Ursa lives long enough, it becomes an Ursa Major…"
Alright, just need to convert this. Okay, calling upon my (two) years of computer coding… I have no idea how to convert this file. Okay, I'll modify my file transfer spell, debug should take… two goddamn hours.
"... the spikes grow much larger." Alright, so it's just about time for me to start talking. I set my laptop aside and stood up. I walked up to the front, swaying a little.
"Remember those spikes, they'll be important later." I said, talking as fast as possible to cover up my lack of sleep. "Anyway, the easiest way to kick the bear's asses is to kick their asses. They are powerful but slow and can't turn for shit, pardon my language. The back spikes on the Ursa Major grow in part to cover that weakness. Anyway, if that doesn't work or you messed it up, try and go for the belly. That's also basically the only option against the Majors, aside from just blasting their skull in with dust or bullets or something." I yawn. "Now, Port's going to bring you out back while I do… something because I've been up since 4 AM."
Jaune (3rd Person)
Jaune hummed distractedly as he played games on his scroll worked on homework. After Viridian had killed the Ursa, class had ended and he had a free period. He was playing Sweet Smash, and was just about to beat the level when there was a knock at the door. He opened it, but there was no-one there. As he stepped out into the hallway, his foot bumped into something. It was a book.
"What's this?" Jaune muttered as he picked up the book. Well, book was an overstatement. It was just a stack of papers stapled together. The cover had four characters that looked Mistralian. Below that, in standard text, the cover said: The Art of War, by Sun Tzu. He brought it into the dorm and started reading.
A/N: Viridian is part of team VLOT, a team that is basically 'I need a first year student who was a background silhouette in the show'. Details will be added when needed.
