Atlantis
Aquaman was utterly outraged, and it was not merely anger at Orm, but himself as well. All this time the long-haired man who was allied with Superman had been right all along. His pride, and his unwillingness to consider the possibility that there was indeed a traitor in his kingdom led to this. He was filled also with an absolute loathing for the soldiers who willingly went along with this and saw the arrogant smirk on Brak's face. That slimy bastard had been apart of it this whole time and now he realized just why Brak was so willing to defy him in the throne room before.
He and Orm had planned this all from the start…and he only helped to make the process a lot faster than before.
He could not help but feel the pain of that truth become more potent when he had to deal with Orm gloating about his plan as well as taunting him about his view on his leadership.
"I had to stand by and watch you lead Atlantis and our people to stagnation and ruin all because of your unwillingness to do what should be our destiny! To take the surface world and show those surface dwellers that we are their betters! Instead, our home gets polluted and what is rightfully that of Atlantis gets taken and perverted by the primates above us! No more shall I let this happen!"
"You are insane Orm! This is treason of the highest level, and you know it!"
"Treason? This is insurrection dear brother, a just insurrection to remove one who is both unfit and truly worthless as leader of this nation. Take him away!"
Aquaman roared in anger and soon broke free, smashing blows into the now revealed traitor soldiers to his kingdom and he intended to smash his fist right into the face of his traitorous sibling. However, Orm blasted him with the Trident's power, fouling Arthur's attempt to fight as the now former king was now secured by the traitors.
Orm looked at his sibling with now undisguised disgust and arrogance.
"Take him away."
Brak smiled at that and replied.
"At once my Lord."
As Aquaman was taken away, Orm began to think on his plans to finally take control of not merely Atlantis but the surface world as well. That was not the only direction his thoughts were going though, he had to deal with Mera and his nephew. But just as he was about to go into that direction, the object of the new train of thought in his mind came to him.
"Orm! I have been hearing rumors that Aquaman is alive here in Atlantis. Is that possible!"
Orm tried to and managed to maintain a calm and serious visage though mentally speaking he was utterly livid with the idea that the reports of his brother had reached Mera's ears, but at least she had not been here to see them dragging away Arthur when he had shot his brother with the Trident.
"I am afraid I cannot confirm or deny those rumors Mera, for all we know it could be some impostor or merely the stress of Arthur's loss that is affecting our people."
Mera was not too pleased by this but spoke.
"How can you say such things Orm? We have not yet confirmed anything?"
"I know, but we have to assume the worst until we find out more Mera. I will do all that I can to protect you…and your son."
Mera may have been a very beautiful woman and a member of nobility, but she was not the least bit foolish., The way Orm spoke might have been an attempt to placate her. But the very fact that he was doing so in a tone that was odd, made Mera a lot more worried as well as suspicious. And being the woman of courage that Arthur had known her to be, she spoke.
"What do you mean by that Orm?"
That was more than enough to make Orm realize that his attempt was not working so he tried be a bit more forceful.
"I mean what I said Mera, cooperate and nothing will happen to you and your son."
That was more than enough to finally convince Mera that something horrible was happening here and she quickly left the room to look for her son. The second she entered the private room of her family she saw to the cradle holding her child. Only to find that her son was no longer in there in his crib and as far as she knew he was wrapped snuggly in his blanket. The sight of it all filled her with horror and shock as she tried to find out what was going on.
She however knew full well now who was the one responsible for this event of horror and as she turned to look, she saw Orm looking at her. She felt shock, anger, and great fear, the last emotion due to what could be lurking in Orm's mind concerning her son.
"Why are you doing this Orm?!"
"I am merely doing that needs to be done on account of your husband's foolish tolerance of the surface dwellers."
"By declaring war against them?!"
"It is already underway Mera, do not interfere."
Orm then left and made sure to silently signal some of his loyal followers to keep an eye on the Queen, once he disposed of both Arthur and his son, then he will rule what was his by right. And with enough time, even Mera herself would soon be his. The idea made the betrayer of Aquaman smile even more as this would be his grandest moment. The surface dwellers had provided him with the means to enact his plan, and it was his own soon to be removed brother who allowed him to get it.
"Oh, the irony…"
Orm whispered to himself to avoid alerting anyone, a clever move on his part when one of the members of the Atlantean Navy came with a report.
"Lord Orm, we have news!"
"Report!"
"Our scanners have picked up the same craft used by the surface dwellers who came to save the submarine's crew."
Orm gave a dark look at that and decided that dealing with them first was of high priority before moving the rest of his plan. Besides, they had to be contained lest they reveal the truth of his part in the attempt on his brother's life. And they could be used as scapegoats once secured and de-powered with some devices of his.
"Deal with them in the manner those barbarians deserve. If you secure them alive, bring them to me so I can question them before I go to deal with the rest of their kind."
"Yes, my Lord!"
Tobirama was currently sitting in the Batmobile with Batman with Deadshot now subdued and stowed in the back of the vehicle. Being in a vehicle like the Batmobile as well as when he was in Batcave the first time he met the Dark Knight, a part of Tobirama's mind wondered if Konoha had advanced in any form back in his world since his and Hashirama's time.
Pulling up the Batmobile before the station, Batman said to the Second Hokage, "Wait inside."
Batman then got out of the Batmobile and took Deadshot out of the back, handing him over to the GCPD. Tobirama watched as several officers were waiting to collect the assassin from the Dark Knight.
Soon after, Batman returned to the Batmobile.
"Now is the time to find Aquaman." Tobirama said to him. Batman brought his finger to the earpiece in his cowl.
"Superman, what's your status?" He asked, but a few seconds there was no response. "Superman?" Again, no answer.
"Wonder Woman." He called another League member, and with no answer as well. Now Tobirama got his head turning.
"Lantern." Batman tried again, and still nothing.
"Something's wrong in Atlantis." Tobirama said.
"We need to find Aquaman." Batman added.
"And the others?"
"They can handle themselves; we find Aquaman we can find the others." Batman said pressing a button and he turned the Batmobile, heading for Metropolis Bay.
"How do you expect to find someone so deep in the ocean?" Tobirama stated the question.
Batman just turned on the screen on the dashboard of the Batmobile, showing a red dot in the ocean. "A tracker is on him, I put it on him when we were moving him to the water tank."
The Batmobile pulled up just before the water. Batman leapt of the vehicle, Tobirama followed suit. And out of the water emerged a large black vehicle. The Batboat.
"Get in, we're going to find Aquaman." Batman sat in the main seat in the submarine, Tobirama sat in the back seat.
Meanwhile, Hashirama and the other members of the Justice league were aboard the Javelin and moving through the water as fast as they could to meet up with Aquaman to warn him about the plot against him.
"We're almost there, Atlantis is just beyond that reef ahead of us," said Wonder Woman.
"Don't expect them to welcome us with open arms," said Green Lantern.
"Set the ship down here, maybe we can slip through their defenses," Superman suggested.
BOOM!
The ship suddenly shook from the shockwave of an explosion, they looked ahead to see one of the Atlantean Warships along with a squad of Atlantean soldiers riding on aquatic vehicles.
"It's too late, they have already seen us!" said J'onn.
"I doubt that's the only thing we're late about," said Hashirama activating a certain jutsu to allow him to breath underwater.
"If they want a fight, then they got one!" Green Lantern stood up with his ring glowing with energy.
Wonder Woman placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him "Wait! Remember the reason why we came here!"
Green Lantern frowned but complied nonetheless, they all exited from the Javelin and went to confront the Atlantean soldiers as Superman went to speak.
"Hold your fire, we come with an urgent message for your king!" said Superman, but the response received was in the form a cannon fire. Green Lantern was quick to defend by using his ring to form a shield which deflected the incoming projectiles.
"There's your answer," Green Lantern retorted before he scattered to engage the hostile soldiers with the rest.
Hashirama was swimming away from one of the soldiers who was firing at him with an energy rifle as the Hokage swam around a corner with the soldier going after only for his eyes to widen upon seeing a giant fist made out of wood that erupted from the ocean floor that knocked him off his vehicle, Hashirama popped up from behind a rock while smirking before going to assist the others. J'onn was also being pursued by one of the Atlantean soldier when he suddenly stopped and waited for the soldier to get closer before turning intangible for him to pass right through before reverting and reached out to grab the soldier then pulled him off his vehicle for it to crash into the rocks, Green Lantern was alternating constantly between forming shields to defend against the torpedoes being fired at him and launching concussive blasts of energy to knock the soldiers off their vehicles.
Wonder Woman was evading the shots being fired at her and reflecting several to destroy their modes of transportation, but she was unaware of one bearing towards her from behind. He was about to fire a torpedo when something wrapped around his neck and yanked him off his vehicle and the next thing, he saw was a fist barreling for his face and there was pain followed by darkness. Wonder Woman looked back to see a knocked out Atlantean soldier floating to the seabed and Hashirama was there which gave her an idea what happened and nodded in gratitude with the shinobi responding with a simple nod.
Suddenly they were assaulted with a volley of projectiles from overhead, and they looked up to see the Atlantean warship approach and opened fire once more with their turrets. Superman went to pick up a large piece of rock from the seabed and used it to grind against the undercarriage of the warship to rupture a hole, causing it to sink to the bottom of the sea
"Well, that takes care of them, now to head over to Atlantis," said Hashirama.
"This way!" Superman took the lead with the others soon following after him, it didn't take them very long till their destination was within their sights "There it is!" they swam closer when suddenly hidden cannons revealed themselves from within the reefs and launched multiple grey spiked cannonballs in their direction, but they were able to avoid all of them at once.
"Not even close," Green Lantern scoffed at the attempt, but the First Hokage wasn't fooled at this, and his suspicions were soon proven true as the cannonballs collided with each other to trigger powerful explosions which knocked them around.
"They're depth charges!" said J'onn before being knocked away by another explosion.
"Damn it, this is not looking good!" Hashirama grunted from another explosive shockwave.
Hashirama's mind raced for an idea to get himself and the others out of this situation, but the explosions proved to be too much as they were knocked to the seabed and laid there unconscious. He later opened his eyes to see that he was on his knees and that his hands were handcuffed to his back and noticed that he was wearing some sort of headgear which was sending jolts of electricity into his brain, making it hard for him to focus properly. He looked to see that Superman and the others were in the same situation before looking ahead to see a man in regal clothing along with the Atlantean soldiers.
"Worthless surface scum," said Orm with loathing, Hashirama immediately frowned as he sensed the hatred and negativity within him and suspected him to be the one behind all this.
"Where's Aquaman?" asked Superman albeit struggling to speak.
"I thought your kind already took care of him?"
"No, he came back here," Wonder Woman calmly refuted the claim.
"We came here to warn him about a plot against his life, an Atlantean plot," Superman continued, Hashirama noticed a twitch in the man's eye and his suspicions became clearer.
"Lies and deceptions!" Orm pointed the trident at Superman and blasted him with enough energy to knock the Man of Steel to the floor "I consider this incursion as nothing less than an act of war. You will be executed as enemies of the crown then I will wipe out the surface world forever!"
"That settles it, he's the one who's behind all of this and is also hiding the truth while using us an excuse to attack the surface," thought Hashirama as he glared at the man, then he noticed someone above glanced to see that she was a red-haired woman dressed in royal clothing along with a crown. He noticed a look of worry in her eyes before being dragged away along with the others.
The guards dragged the League members into a chamber and shackled them to the walls before exiting with a screen door sealing them inside, one of the soldiers pulled a lever and water began pouring, giving them an idea of what was going to happen. They tried to free themselves, but the shackles held strong.
"J'onn, can you phase free?" asked Diana urgently.
"No, can't focus," J'onn replied, having already attempted to do so but failed.
"Me neither, these headgears must be some kind of synaptic discharger," said Green Lantern who wasn't able to make any progress on his end.
Wonder Woman looked down in alarm to see that the water has already risen to their knees "…then we'll drown,"
Over at the docking bays, General Brak was currently in charge of preparing the soldiers and other weapons of war for the upcoming engagement with the surface dwellers as he had desired all these years and was denied due to Aquaman's refusal to go into war with them until now. He saw Orm approach while on a aquatic looking bike and bowed down along with his men in respect.
"Your troops are almost ready to depart, milord," said Brak.
"Proceed general, I will join you after I attend to some 'unfinished business'," said Orm.
"Of course, milord,"
Orm then rode away with the general resuming command, they were unaware that someone had been eavesdropping on their conversation and it turned out to be Mera who was frowning at what she had heard. She had been suspecting that Orm was up to something which he didn't want her to know about and apparently General Brak was also involved, their plans must have had something to do with her husband and son being missing, and the surface dwellers must know something he doesn't want anyone to hear hence why he's executing them so soon. Mera came upon an important decision and began making her way through the hallways when suddenly a voice called out to her.
"Excuse me but are you the wife of Aquaman?" A male voice whispered out.
"W-Who's there?!" asked Mera while looking around for the source of the voice.
"Please calm down miss, I'm one of the surface dwellers and I'm here to rescue my comrades."
"Then do you know of what happened to my husband and is it true that there's a traitor in Atlantis?" asked Mera.
"We suspected that he was captured the moment he arrived by the traitor whom I now suspect to be Orm, but we can explain later as my friends don't have much time left," said the voice urgently.
"Very well, I will take you to where they are," Mera rushed over to where the League members were being held and arrived only to gasp upon seeing that the chamber was almost full and the members were holding their breath for as long as they can "Oh no, they'll drown at this rate!"
"No, they won't!"
The guards were taking bets about which of the heroes would drown first when they suddenly felt something grab the sides of their heads and forcefully smashed them together sufficiently enough to knock them out. Mera was momentarily surprised but quickly snapped back into focus and ran over to push the lever which drained the chamber of the water before opening the barrier. It was at that moment that a figure appeared, revealing to be Hashirama much to the surprise of everyone who turned to the one shackled that disappeared in a puff of smoke.
"I should have known, you created a decoy and went into hiding," said Green Lantern.
"Well, using a shadow clone as a decoy so that I can sneak in and rescue you was a simple matter. Although, I was lucky enough to meet Aquaman's wife along the way" Hashirama laughed as he took out a kunai from his ninja pouch and channeled chakra through it to increase the sharpness before cutting through their shackles while Mera unlocked the other shackles with a key which she took from the guards.
Mera then spoke "Your comrade told me that someone had betrayed my husband and he suspects his brother Orm to be the traitor,"
"His actions certainly prove it, probably explains why we were attacked and that Aquaman was nowhere to be seen," said Superman.
"We'll need to take the queen to safety then begin our search for Aquaman," said Wonder Woman.
"And my son as well, Orm has hidden him somewhere when all this began," said Mera with a look of worry, Hashirama clenched his fists in anger when he heard those words and had made up his mind to make this Orm pay for his crimes.
Elsewhere, Aquaman was struggling to free himself from the chains which shackled him to a rock face precariously over a crevice where underwater lava flowed along at the bottom. He had woken up to find himself there and since then struggled to break free so he can return and make Orm and Brak pay for their betrayal.
"Enjoying the view?" Aquaman looked up and glared at Orm who was approaching on his aquatic bike with an arrogant smirk.
"Getting rid of me won't make the people of Atlantis serve you," said Aquaman.
"I know. That whole lineage thing can get rather messy," Orm got off and walked over to the front of the vehicle "Fortunately, I have a solution,"
"What do you mean?" Orm opened up a compartment and reached in to bring out a red bundle which started crying, Aquaman recognized the cry with a sense of dread which solidified when Orm revealed the bundle to be his own infant son "No!"
Hashirama and the others were currently accompanying Mera through the city towards the throne room to make sure that she was safe, but he couldn't help but admire the sights of the city as they walked along a bridge. It was the very first time in his lifetime that he's ever been in a place like this, no doubt that not even the Elemental Nations had a city as advanced as this.
"My word, this place is amazing," said Hashirama as he continued to look around.
"You're right Hashirama, it's no wonder why Aquaman protects it so passionately," said Diana.
"Unfortunately, there are those whose ambitions would destroy it," said Mera.
The First Hokage's eyes suddenly narrowed as he swiftly positioned himself in front of the group and took out a handful of shuriken which he channeled wind chakra through before throwing them, the others were about to question him when they saw the projectiles slice through the firearms of the soldiers who were positioned ahead of them and were about to fire until Hashirama intercepted them.
"There's a few more coming up from behind us, protect the queen!" said Hashirama before facing the ones in front of him and sped through a set of handsigns "Wind Style: Gale Wind!" he reared an arm back before thrusting forward to launch a blast of wind to knock the soldiers off the bridge and into the water below them. he looked back to see Superman and Wonder Woman defending Mera from the shots being fired at them and Green Lantern formed a battering ram to knock the soldiers off the bridge as well and into the water.
"I am grateful for your help," said Mera.
"No thanks necessary, but we need to hurry since they're targeting you now," said Superman.
"Indeed, this fight is far from over," said J'onn,
The group continued on their way but with more haste in their steps as the situation was getting direr by the minute.
Bottom of the Sea
In the ocean, Tobirama was taking in the sights of the depths, he couldn't help but note the irony. In spite of his mastery over Water Style, he was perhaps in the first Shinobi to venture deep into the water, the first Konoha Shinobi at least.
"Odd. Scanner's saying that Aquaman's location is not in Atlantis. And it's picking seismic activities nearby." Batman on the controls brought the Batboat to Aquaman's location. Somewhere with rocky terrain, cliffs, and volcanic areas right on the bottom.
Moving closer Batman pointed out, "There he is." There was the King of Atlantis, chained down by his hands to a rock face. And beside him was a crying baby in a cloth hooked onto a knife embedded into the rock face. The sight of this caused Tobirama's eyes to narrow in rage.
"What sort of monster would do this?!" Tobirama said aloud.
"The worst kind," Batman answered.
Aquaman managed to break off one of his chains, only now noticing Batman and Tobirama arriving to help.
"Can you swim?" Batman asked Tobirama.
"Of course, but how am I getting out of this vehicle?" Tobirama asked. Batman pushed another button on the controls.
A hatch on the floor in front of the younger Senju's seat slid open, showing the water right at Tobirama's feet. Taking a deep breath, he went in feet first.
His white hair flowed with grace in the water, kicking his feet hard, Tobirama moved through the water fast towards the two Atlanteans both approaching the glowing heat down further below.
"Save my son!" The Second Hokage heard Aquaman shouting at him. There was no time to question how he was able to do that underwater.
Swimming to the infant, Tobirama placed a hand and foot on the rock face with chakra. The Senju felt the heat down below. Quickly carrying the baby in one hand, Tobirama kicked off the rock face, swimming back to the Batboat.
Turning around however, the Second Hokage saw Aquaman still stuck with one hand chained down. With one swipe of his hand, Tobirama sliced through the chain as if it were butter.
Aquaman made one more yank, pulling himself free from his bonds.
The baby immediately soothed in the Senju's arm. Tobirama swam up to the hatch, inhaling deep after poking his head back into the air inside the Batboat.
Tobirama sat back on his seat, water dripping everywhere with Aquaman's son in his arms. Batman turned on the heater in the Second Hokage's seat to dry him up.
The King of Atlantis swam up to the side of the Batboat.
"Thank you." Aquaman showed his gratitude.
"Who did this?" Batman asked.
"Orm. My half-brother. I must return to Atlantis now." Aquaman sped in the water with the Batboat on his tail.
Back in Atlantis, the group had managed to secure the throne room before going out to search for Aquaman and the baby while Wonder Woman and Green Lantern guarded Mera and Hashirama was using his sensory technique, at first, he wasn't detecting their presence within but now he is but noticed something wrong and called out right as Superman and J'onn flew into the throne room to give their report.
"We've searched everywhere." J'onn said.
"But there's still no sign of Aquaman." Superman said.
Mera brought her hands to her face, fearing the worst. Footsteps however brought their attention to the entrance. Everyone had surprised faces seeing who had arrived.
Aquaman carrying his son, with Tobirama Senju behind him.
"Tobirama?" The League members said in unison.
Mera got up on her feet and ran to her husband and child with an embrace. "My love, you're safe."
"And so is our son." Aquaman handed the baby to her.
The Justice League members went to the younger Senju.
"Excellent as always brother," Hashirama grinned.
"You're just full of surprises Tobirama." Superman patted him on the bicep.
"I am glad you are here with us." Wonder Woman added.
"Batman and I rescued both Aquaman and his young son." Tobirama explained, a neutral expression on his face.
"Where is he?"
"He said he needed to attend to other matters. None of you weren't answering your coms." Tobirama said to the League. "What happened?"
"We got jumped on by the new lunatic running things here. But the queen helped us escaped." Green Lantern explained.
"Where. Is. Orm?" Aquaman demanded with a look of pure rage on his face.
"I do not know my love." Mera answered.
A beep sounded off in Tobirama's earpiece. "Tobirama." He heard Batman's voice through the com unit, everyone was listening in.
"A situation's developed in the North Pole. Thermal readings show temperature increasing rapidly." Batman explained through the comm unit.
"If that persists, the ecological effects will be too great. We should check it out." Lantern stated with arms crossed.
"But what about the crisis here?" Wonder Woman inquired.
"There may be a connection." Aquaman said to them.
"How?" Hashirana asked him.
"It's the doomsday thermal reactor. We designed it to create a polar meltdown." Aquaman admitted.
Tobirama's eye narrowed at that.
"I had it built as a weapon of last resort, should the surface world ever attack. To protect Atlantis." Aquaman explained. "But I've never armed it."
"Then Orm must have." Superman concluded. "Using the plutonium from the submarine. We've got to stop him, or the world will sink beneath the waves."
Sinking the whole world under the grounds of prospering your own home, it reminded both Senju brothers all too well of a certain someone that will go to any lengths for the supposed 'sake and wellbeing of Konoha'.
"He will be stopped." Aquaman stepped up to the League. "I will see to it personally."
North Pole
At the North Pole, both the Justice League and Aquaman gathered, the Arctic Ocean covered in drifting ice. The heroes racing to the thermal reactor deep in the ice, but Orm's army was already waiting for them. The Atlantean ship burst through the ice, weapons pointing at them and fired.
Wonder Woman, Superman and Green Lantern took to the skies drawing the attention, Aquaman dived down into the water. Both Hokage leapt up high, with chakra on their feet as they landed on the water. Atlantean jet skis were making their way to them. Tobirama made the first move.
"Water Style: Water Dragon Jutsu!"
"Fire Style: Dragon Flame Jutsu!"
The water rumbled behind Tobirama while a pillar of flame enveloped Hashirama, rising up to form two dragons made of both fire and water, both dragons then proceeded to smash through the row of jet skis, knocking every Atlantean off their vehicle.
"Everyone." Both shinobi heard Batman through the com unit. "The glaciers are starting to melt."
"I know. But we got our hands tied here." Superman responded as he made short work of a turret on a ship with his heat vision.
A black silhouette was appearing below the two brothers, coming to the water surface. They both leapt to the side to make way for a giant orca jumping out of the water and crashing into the enemy jet skis, with Aquaman hanging onto the dorsal fin.
The orca swam through the water, slipping past the fleet.
"Tobirama stay with Aquaman, Hashirama you're with us." Superman instructed them, not surprised by now that the two of them could walk on water of all things.
Leaping across the water with chakra, Tobirama kept up with Aquaman speeding through the water with the orca.
Launching himself out of the water, Aquaman went into the ice cave. The sound of a familiar jet engine made Tobirama turn his head. The Batwing up above dropped Batman as he was gliding down with his stretched cape to join Tobirama.
The Senju and Batman entered the cave, water was seeping through every crack in the ice around them.
"There's no time left; we have to shut down that reactor now." Batman said and the two sprinted in the ice caverns. Catching up with Aquaman, Batman called to him.
"Arthur." Aquaman turned his head hearing his real name. "Where is it?"
"It's just up ahead," Aquaman pointed ahead of him. A little further down and the reactor was in sight, some form of machinery Tobirama had never seen before.
Sensing something behind, Tobirama turned around and bent his body, dodging a blast of electricity aimed at him.
"I assume you two are the worms that aided in my brother's survival." Orm wielding the trident stepped in to reveal himself.
"Enough of this Orm!" Arthur shouted at him.
"You are not worthy of the throne." Orm pointed at Arthur. "I will lead Atlantis to glory which you never had to the spine to."
"Keep him busy, I'm going to shut the reactor down." Batman said to Tobirama and dashed for the reactor.
"You're not going anywhere." Orm readied the trident. Before Aquaman could engage in battle, Tobirama stepped forward with a fierce and determined expression.
"Enough." Tobirama said in a cold tone. "I will finish this."
"You dare challenge me surface scum?" Orm stared at him, and Tobirama simply stared back. Pointing the trident, a surge of electricity was charged up in the trident and was shot at Tobirama, who dodged with little effort as he quickly rushed forward and punched Orm right in the gut causing him to cough blood and then delivered a kick to his chin to send him flying into the cavern wall, the impact causing a huge chunk of ice to come crashing down on top of Orm.
Aquaman then moved in and dug out Orm from under the ice.
The injured Orm snarled at Tobirama. "I will kill-!"
His threats ceased with Aquaman grabbing his collar and driving a fist across his face again and again knocking him out. He took the trident back and stood victorious.
The King of Atlantis had returned.
"Now what you going to do to him?" Tobirama asked Arthur.
"Orm will face Atlantean justice, as will his followers." Aquaman answered.
Pulling the final lever on the controls of the machinery, Batman managed to shut down the reactor. Temperature was returning back to normal, and the polar ice caps were safe.
"It's shutting down. You did it." Tobirama said to Batman.
"No, we did it." Batman replied.
"Then the threat is over." Aquaman concluded.
Later on, everyone had returned to Atlantis and were at the throne as Aquaman had rounded up those that conspired with Orm especially General Brak who was currently pleading with the king that he and his men were forced to listen to Orm's order, it took every ounce of self-control Tobirama had not to slaughter all these traitors as he had met those type of people back in the Elemental Nations and they were dealt with accordingly, it was only thanks to his brother and that this was Atlantean business was what kept the Second Hokage from acting out. Superman and the other League members were just as disgusted at the blatant lie, apparently Aquaman had had enough of all this as he stood up from his throne to glare at all of them.
"Get them out of my sight," the loyal soldiers immediately complied with the order and jostled the betrayers out of the throne as Aquaman sighed to himself "I can only blame myself, my fear of the surface dwellers blinded to those I should have feared most…and it almost cost me dearly," he looked down in anger and shame at the thought of what almost happened to his son.
Green Lantern spoke up "Don't be too hard on yourself, maybe we've all misjudged."
"Maybe so, but all I have ever wanted is peace and security for Atlantis,"
"After what's happened, it won't be easy," said Superman.
"I know…," Aquaman turned towards Mera holding their sleeping child in her arms "…but some sacrifices are worth it,"
Hashirama smiled in nostalgia as he recalled all of the 'sacrifices' he and his brother made during their lifetime; He can only hope that it was worth it in the end for Konoha and that the village was still in good hands.
AN: Happy late New Year's Eve everyone. I wanted to get this chapter out by New Year's but as always, things got in the way. So obviously the biggest changes here are that Aquaman isn't forced to cut off his own hand and that Orm is still alive. Will he return as Ocean Master? I haven't decided yet. I didn't want to just follow canon like so many other authors have done already since the plot wouldn't have changed all that much if Aquaman lost his hand or not. I hope you enjoyed this chapter anyway and I'll see you all next time.
