Chapter 279: When Zombies Attack
The zombies began to swarm the carriage, tossing everyone out. As the four passengers fell out they were surrounded. The zombies grabbed Usopp and bit Usopp.
"Ah I've been bitten! Now I'll turn into one of them!" screamed Usopp.
"You don't know that!" yelled Ino.
"I'll save you!" yelled Nami.
However she began to get swarmed by Zombies.
It was Chopper who managed to save Usopp by punching away the zombies. In fact he punched one so hard, the zombies head fell off.
"Here dude!" said a zombie picking it up.
"Thanks!" replied the zombie.
"What!" yelled Chopper.
Ino managed to kick some of them away, however Nami wasn't having a good time.
"Help they're going to bite me!" she yelled.
"All right! Attack their week point…" said Usopp.
"You mean their head?" asked Ino.
"Not that…" muttered Usopp, "Flaming Star!"
There was a large explosion of flames that freed Nami.
Ino ran over to Nami and grabbed her arm.
"It's more effective than I thought…" said Usopp surprised.
The zombies were freaking out, as well as one calling Usopp an arsonist.
"Now you've made them mad!" yelled Chopper.
Chopper picked up Nami, and he, Usopp and Ino ran for it.
"Minds as well run for the mansion it's closer." Said Chopper.
"I hate to agree." Said Ino.
"It's okay if we run through the cemetery." Said Usopp, "Zombies can only groan and shamble."
They turned turn and saw that well… these were the modern kind of zombies, the kind that run quickly. The group ran as fast they could…
However just because they were the modern type of zombie that could run doesn't mean they were long distance runners.
"No fair!" yelled ne of the zombies.
"Time out…" said another zombie.
They stared at the zombies.
"Well that was unexpected…" muttered Ino.
They managed to get out of the grave yard and continued their way to the mansion.
"They're not coming after us?" asked Chopper.
"What's up with this island…" muttered Ino, "There's all sorts of weird things…"
"Guy if I turn into a zombie please kill me…" said Usopp.
"You're going to turn into a zombie…" said Ino.
"How do you know…" said Usopp.
"Something tells me their not that type of zombie…" said Ino.
They arrived at the mansion.
"Well this is the place." Said Ino.
"I need a glass of water…" said Usopp.
"I get to meet him after all!" said Chopper, "This is great!"
"What so great about it, we were chased by zombies." Said Ino.
"I don't think any normal people live on this island so it's going to be a gamble…" said Nami.
That was when they heard the sound of wings flying away.
"What was that…" said Usopp.
"I don't know…" said Ino.
"We really should go inside." Said Nami.
"Hello we're traveling pirates… I mean we travelers… just travelers…" said Usopp.
Ino looked at him and shook her head.
They headed into the mansion entrance, which was like a tunnel.
"Maybe no one's home." Said Usopp.
"I really hope there's no zombies behind us…" said Nami.
"What's that light?" asked Ino/
They saw a small spot light pointed at well.
"I wonder what's that about…" said Ino.
That was when a blonde woman emerged from the well. She was plate and has many scars all over her body.
"Welcome." She said.
That when she began to throw plates at them.
"What's going on!" yelled Nami.
As it turned out she was only throwing plates at Usopp.
"Why is she only throwing plates at me!" yelled Usopp.
"I don't think she likes you." Said Ino.
"The three of you may come in…" said the woman, "As for you…"
She continued to throw plates at him while counting.
"That's enough Cindry…" said a voice, "We shall make an exception for him, let him enter."
That was when a door opened a somewhat round man with a pointy nose, wearing sunglasses showed up.
"I'm sorry she stalked you, see Cindry used to be engaged to wealthy man, and in order to test his love she shattered 10 valuable plates from his cherished dinning set and the engagement was called off…" said the man.
"Is that where she got those scars?" asked Ino.
"Well there were shards involved with the plate smashing…" said the man.
"If you say so…" said Ino.
"Anyways this is Cindry my plate hating servant." Said the man.
"Don't care…" muttered Nami.
"Please allow me introduce myself! I'm the famous Doctor Hogback! The one they call a genius." Said the man who turned out be Doctor Hogback.
That was when Cindry once again started throwing plates at Usopp.
"At least it's better than running from zombies." Said Ino.
Doctor Hogback once again got Cindry to stop even when Cindry said "I wish all plates in the world would disappear".
"Chopper is that they guy you were talking about?" asked Usopp.
"It is! It's really him!" said Chopper happily.
"He doesn't look like a genius." Said Nami.
"I know…" said Ino.
"Don't' be rude!" yelled Chopper.
Doctor Hogback let the four into the mansion…
"What does she hat plates anyways…" said Usopp.
"You were to terrified to listen." Said Ino.
Cindry let them into the mansion… however..,.
"I'm still out here…" said Doctor Hogback.
After letting him back in. He all had sat them all at a dining room table.
"As I was saying welcome to my mansion." Said Doctor Hogback, "You look tired and dusty from the road. What brings you here?"
"It's a long story but first…" said Nami.
"I'll ask him question about medicine later…" Chopper squeeing to himself.
"Were attacked by zombies in the cemetery." Said Nami.
"Zombies you say?" asked Doctor Hogback.
Ino narrowed her eyes, she was still suspicious.
"We also saw a bunch of really strange creatures in the forest." Said Usopp, "What up with this island? You know something…"
"So you were attacked… I'm surprised you made it back here in one piece." Said Doctor Hogback, "To answer your questions. I live here because I don't know what those creatures are either."
"Do you live here to research zombies?" asked Chopper.
"That's right…" said Doctor Hogback, who began to explain his research is about raising the dead however the world thought he was mad.
"But if you do that you'll make a lot of people happy! I'm behind you 100 percent!" said Chopper.
"Oh how open minded you are." Said Doctor Hogback, "Thank you."
"Can I have your autograph?" asked Chopper.
"Of course you can." Said Doctor Hogback.
"Thank you so much Doctor Hogback!" said chopper with his eyes and face sparkling, "Afterwards can I see your lab?"
Doctor Hogback got into Chopper's face.
"No one must never, ever see my lab." Said Doctor Hogback.
Of course this freaked Chopper out.
However Cindry showed up with a tray of pudding.
"Here's desert, it's pudding." Said Cindry dumping said pudding on the table.
"What! Seriously! Can you please at least once put food on a plate?" asked Doctor Hogback.
"I wish all plates would disappear from this earth…" muttered Cindry.
"Why don't you use cups or bowls instead of plates?" asked Ino.
Doctor Hogback was silent.
"I never thought of that…" he said.
"Seriously!" yelled both Ino and Nami.
"Well anyways I made sure that the tablecloth has been washed to death, so you can be sure it's clean…" he said.
Chopper and Usopp joined him in eating right off the table.
"I've prepared a bath…" said Cindry, "You're all dirty, so you should wash yourself before a bath."
As Usopp finished his table pudding he remembered something.
"By the way, have you seen a weird skeleton?" asked Usopp.
"A skeleton?" asked Doctor Hogback.
"Yeah, he has an afro, and he's skinny and he's in a really good mood for a skeleton." Said Usopp, "Of course it's weird enough for a skeleton to go around walking and talking but do you know anything about him."
"No… nothing…" he replied, however he was thinking, "Do they mean him? No they couldn't…"
Sometime later Nami was taking her pre-bath shower (it's a Japanese thing).
"Seriously Nami why are you taking a bath?" asked Ino who was acting as guard for Nami.
"After being touched by those zombies I need one…" said Nami, "What I'm surprised is that you're not doing it…"
"I'm just going to get dirty again…" said Ino.
"I can't believe you're the one saying that…" said Nami.
"Besides I'm prettier than you are, there would probably more trying to spy on me…" said Ino.
"Seriously?" asked Nami.
"We have to plan…" said Ino.
"I know…" said Nami.
Usopp and Chopper were just outside the bathroom when they heard that part of the conversation.
"What do you mean plan?" asked Usopp.
Ino stuck here head of the area of the bathroom and mentioned for the two guys to come in.
"Once night falls we're getting out if here!" whispered Ino.
"What!" yelled Chopper and Usopp.
"But the doctor said we an stay the night." Said Chopper.
"Yeah, but you haven't noticed…" said Ino, "The dread of something watching you here?"
"What do you mean?" asked Usopp.
"You didn't notice, there's zombies here in the mansion." Said Nami.
"What!" yelled Usopp.
"Where!" yelled Chopper.
"I don't trust Hogback." Sighed Nami.
"I know…" said Ino, "It's like he's lying about everything… he probably has connections to the zombies."
Behind the screen Nami got into the tub.
"We have to pretend to not know anything." Said Nami, "And then sneak out after dark."
"Clever girl…" said a voice.
Nami looked around.
"Usopp was that you?" asked Nami.
"What do you mean?" asked Usopp.
That was when they heard a noise.
"Gross! Usopp!" yelled Ino.
"You stink…" said Chopper.
"Sorry…" sad Usopp.
However Nami felt something grab her arms, then force her into the wall.
"What's this?" said Nami, "What's going on…"
She heard a growl.
"I like you better than the woman on the ship…" said the voice, "Because you're weaker…"
"I can hear a voice…" thought Nami.
"Usopp!" called out Nami, but before she could out opt the other name, something blocked her mouth.
"I'm going to make you my bride…" said the invisible thing.
Indeed, Nami was now at the mercy of the inveigle thing that attacked the ship… and hopefully get away from it.
Next Time: The group that got stranded needs to escape the mansion, but its easier said than done, while the other group finally arrives on the island. What will happen? Find out next time!
