St Mungo's never really changed; the same antiseptic smell permitted the air, the walls were still blinding white, made worse by the florescent lighting that ignited a headache in all who sat below them for two long. They'd had a good run of not going to the hospital since the end of the war five years ago; even with Harry and Ron as Auror's and the Weasley twins always experimenting and causing explosions, the family had managed to avoid the wizarding hospital. At least they had before today, when Harry had received a patronus that Hermione had been admitted to St Mungo's.
Naturally the whole family were worried about the brunette witch; she was always working and in recent months had skipped a number of family lunches to the disproval of Molly who viewed Hermione as a second daughter. It was for this reason that Molly had insisted on coming with Harry to the hospital and why she now stood glaring at the young receptionist, the poor girl had probably only just graduated from Hogwarts but right now Molly didn't seem to care that she was scaring an innocent girl who was just doing her job.
"As I have already told you, we are Hermione's family, it is imperative that you let us in to see her," Molly reiterated, glaring at the girl before her.
"Mrs Weasley, I can't let you in," the girl told her meekly.
"What do you mean you can't let us in, where is she," she asked, her glare darkening.
"She's in quarantine," a new voice sounded, Harry sighed as Molly turned to look at the newcomer; Susan Bones who stood tall in the wake of Molly's glare.
"Susan why is Hermione quarantined," he asked tiredly, it was the middle of the night and he just wanted to know what was going on with his best friend.
"Hermione has been diagnosed with Dragon Fever," Susan told him quietly, Molly gasped behind him, Harry pushed on.
"What's Dragon Fever," he asked.
"An infection similar to the muggle virus Glandular Fever; it causes a high temperature, rash and flu like symptoms," Susan told him.
"That doesn't sound too bad, why is she quarantined, can't she have a fever reducing potion and come home," he asked Susan, the redheaded witch shook her head.
"Harry it isn't a common virus in the UK, the symptoms can be debilitating to those infected for months after the initial infection, we want to limit the amount of people who contract it," Susan told him.
"Then how on earth did she get it, Hermione hasn't been out of England," Molly interrupted.
"That's what we want to know, do you know if Hermione has been in contact with any dragons during the past month," Susan asked.
"To my knowledge she hasn't," Harry replied.
"Then the most likely scenario is she contracted it from a sexual partner who has recently recovered from the virus," Susan told them, Harry blushed at the mention of Hermione been sexually active while Molly turned puce; "I'm going to kill that son of mine, coming home to spend more time with the family my arse," Molly growled. Harry had what he felt was a eureka moment; Charlie Weasley had been sick with some kind of dragonborn illness a couple of months ago and had been visiting England more and more frequently.
"Charlie and Hermione are having sex," he blurted out as the man himself walked into the hospital waiting area.
"How did you know," Charlie asked wide eyed.
"You've given Hermione a sexually transmitted infection," Harry told the older man horrified.
"Charlie what do you have to say for yourself, you've infected Hermione with Dragon Fever, not to mention messed around with a girl I consider to be my daughter.
"I love her mum, I didn't mean to make her sick," Charlie replied, Molly burst into tears, dragging her second oldest son into a hug; "My baby is in love," the matriarch of the Weasley family cried.
"Susan how long will Hermione be in the hospital," harry asked feeling exhausted.
"We should be able to release her in a few days once the antiviral potions start working, she will no longer be infectious after that but will need lots of rest," Susan told him before turning to the two Weasley's; "Charlie we are going to have to run some tests on you to ensure you are no longer infectious," the healer told the older man, Charlie nodded.
"Lead away, can I see Mione since I've already had the virus," the Weasley boy asked.
"Yes, you can," Susan replied, Harry watched them walk away resigned, knowing his luck, Charlie would still be infectious, and they'd all end up in quarantine along side his best friend; he didn't think he'd be able to look at Hermione without blushing.
"Let's go back to the Burrow and update the family," Molly suggested, Harry nodded, following his girlfriend's mother as she led the way to the floo, he really didn't particularly want to be near Ron when he found out Charlie and Hermione were shagging one another; he didn't think the youngest Weasley male would take the news very well.
