Chapter 8: Mobius and the Five Worlds Merged.
Back in Mobius where Tails, Knuckles, Sun and Amy were waiting with the book remaining open on the table which was shaking, the Earthquake was so strong that it was felt all over the planet.
"Oh no! An Earthquake!" Amy screamed out fearfully, only to gasp in horror as the table toppled over and the book went sliding off. She immediately ran over and caught it with her arms while falling onto the ground, but accidentally ended up closing the book, much to her and the others' horror.
"The book! It's closed!" Tails screamed out in horror, despite what Sonic had told him and the others earlier even though Sora was more cautious over that part given his experience in being inside Pooh's storybook.
"They're trapped!" Knuckles exclaimed in dismay with a grunt.
"But didn't Sonic say that even when the book of the Arabian Nights was closed he still managed to get back home?" Sun asked, worriedly.
"Yeah, but Sonic had to race all the way to the ending of the book to get back home anyway. Other wise he would be stuck in there forever." The two-tailed fox pointed out fearfully, horrified and worried that his big brother and the Keyblade Wielder would remain trapped inside the book even if they opened it again.
"Sonic...! Sora...!" Amy, guilt-ridden for accidentally closing the book and trapping the two teenage boys within it, hugged it and began to cry, only to scream when the shaking got even worse and there was flashes of light coming from outside.
"Look out!" Sun shouted, using himself to try and shield her brother's self-proclaimed girlfriend and Tails who screamed in fear while Knuckles joined in to try and protect the younger duo as all four of them squeezed their eyes shut, fearing for the worst.
Except none of them saw multiple portals and waves of light covering up the entire planet, thirteen individuals came falling out while screaming, revealed to be Kairi, Riku, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Roxas, Axel, Xion, Namine, Isa, Terra, Ven and Aqua, who having been attacked unexpectedly by Maleficent and Pete, as well as the remnant of Vanitas, as they all end up separated into either groups or on their own, and landed in different parts of the world, and like a wave in five different parts of Mobius, pieces of worlds from their and Sora's reality began to appear and attach themselves with glowing lines separating them.
Shamar now had a piece of Agrabah in the middle of the desert, a piece of Twilight Town was next door to Spagonia, Arendelle was close to Holoska, Disney Castle being close to the Green Hill Zone on South Island, and even the Mysterious Tower ended up close to the pedestal where the Master Emerald was on Angel Island. This is seen by many people all across Mobius who, having panicked and screamed, all wondered what in the world was going on.
Back in the Mystic Ruins in Tails' garage, the two-tailed fox, Amy, Knuckles and Sun all hesitantly looked up when the violent shaking came to a stop and they all saw that there were no severe damages hanging around.
"I-Is everybody okay?" Tails asked, nervously.
"I think so..." Amy replied, shaken and scared.
"What was that about?" Knuckles asked, bewildered.
"I don't know, but I have a gut feeling that Terror-Jerk is behind all of this." Sun grumbled as he stood up, helping Amy and Tails to stand with the pink hedgehog still holding the closed book in her arms. "Right now, we have to figure out how to get Sonic and Sora out of that book somehow, or else they'll be trapped in there for the rest of their lives."
"I don't think simply opening the book would allow them to return home, Sun. Sonic did warn me that he had to wait until Merlina used a spell to get back, and even with Sora's help, it might not even be possible." The nine year old kit stated, gazing at the book in worry and fear.
"So in other words, there's still nothing we can do unless we see the results." The seventeen year old Guardian stated.
"I didn't mean to close the book. I was trying to save it and keep it open..." Amy tearfully said, gazing at the King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table book, that had since changed into the Sonic and the Black Knight, the only book of it's existence and gateway to the alternate realm of King Arthur himself, and now her blue hero was trapped inside with seemingly no way to escape.
Heartbroken and blaming herself for imprisoning the hero of Mobius and the Keyblade Wielder, the thirteen year old hedgehog girl hugged the book once more and cried, unaware that it slightly glowed from within.
Back in the Arthurian Realm, the shaking stopped and Sonic, Sora, Arthur, Caliburn, Merlina, Nimue, Gawain and Lancelot looked around nervously, each of them having absolutely no idea on what just happened or what was going on.
"What in the heavens name was that?" Gawain asked, bewildered.
"That can't be a normal earthquake, can it?" Sonic asked, sweat dropping nervously. He then asked, "Is everybody alright?" and was relieved that they said that they were fine.
"No, a powerful event unusual has happened in the outside world." Nimue said worriedly. "I fear that something terrible has happened to your world, Sonic, and it has caused an effect to the gateway."
"She's right." Merlina nodded, holding up her staff as she concentrated, then continued moments later. "The book which acts as a gateway has accidentally been closed when the quakes occured in your world."
"What!?" Sonic and Sora both exclaimed in shock and horror.
"Then...that means...!" The Keyblade Wielder responded in horror, not only for the safety of Mobius, Sonic's world, but also that what he believed was that they were both now trapped inside the book with no way out.
"We've gotta get back home right away!" Sonic exclaimed worriedly, fearing for his home and his friends and family's safeties. He was about to ask and plead with Merlina to send him and Sora back when the hero of the Realm of Light spoke up.
"But how!? The book's all closed up! Unless someone outside opens it up again, we're trapped in this realm!" The sixteen year old pointed out.
"That's not how it works, Sora." The fifteen year old blue hedgehog stated. "Remember, I've managed to get back home from the Arabian Nights by racing all the way to the ending of the book, and Merlina can easily send us back." He then turned to the young wizard girl and asked. "Right? You can still send us back home even if the book is closed?"
To Sonic's relief and Sora's surprise since the latter was about to protest again, Merlina nodded. "Yes, regardless on whether or not the book is closed, or even destroyed, I can still send you back and summon you at will. There is no danger of you being trapped here, Sonic. Yet, as I did not want to summon you again unexpectedly and under King Arthur's orders, we wanted you to figure it out yourself first even if it were impossible."
"Or unless you guys want to keep me here forever." Sonic jokingly said, shrugging with one shoulder. "Even though I can't stay since I got a home, family and friends to go back to."
"Yes. As the King would say, it is selfish to wish for you to stay forever as the Knight of the Wind." The young woman nodded in agreement as she, Sonic, Arthur and Nimue all laughed and giggled at the hero of Mobius's joke, while Gawain groaned and Lancelot rolled his eyes.
"Must you jester at a time like this, Sir Sonic?" Caliburn asked, exasperated.
"Hey, I'm trying to make sure nobody panics." The teenage hedgehog replied.
"So then, we can actually leave?" Sora asked, slowly realizing what this meant, and felt relieved when Sonic, Nimue and Merlina all nodded to comfirm the question.
"The rules are different to what you're used to, Sora. But I can understand the confusion and worry. Heck, I'd be worried and scared too if I found out I'd be trapped inside a book for the rest of my life." Sonic reassured, before sighing as he apologetically told Arthur. "Sorry to cut this visit short, your majesty, but Sora and I better get back home. I'm worried about my friends and family and the world."
"I understand, Sonic. I shouldn't keep you away from your world any much longer. But I do have one request, should things go wrong." Arthur responded.
"Anything, sir." The hero of Mobius stood in attention, more than willing to help.
"I'd like you to take Caliburn with you for a while." The King of Camelot said, much to almost everyone else's surprise as Sonic softly gasped. "I don't understand why, but I now believe that it is you who I saw wielding the sacred sword, especially what has happened and to help you to help Sora. I can't leave Camelot, as much as I want to help in your quest. So the best thing I can do is offer you Caliburn once again. It was you who pulled him out of the pedestal, so it would make it more clear that you are destined to wield him again."
Even though Sonic knew that the king before him had also pulled the sword since it was Arthur's destiny to wield the sacred sword, his counterpart did have a point.
"I'd do it, but I'm not sure how everybody else would react in seeing a talking floating sword. I mean, Tails, Amy, Knuckles and Sun would sure freak out-I mean, get really startled." Sonic pointed out apologetically.
"Perhaps I can help." Merlina suggested, before chanting a spell that no one in the room except for Nimue could understand, and magically a sapphire crystal like bracelet was created, and part of the magic flowed into Caliburn who cried out a little in alarm, and it floated gently into her right hand. She then approached Sonic and placed it into his right hand, explaining. "This bracelet will provide you to summon Caliburn in a great time of need. It will also protect you and those around you from forces of darkness you are not familiar with. Caliburn will also appear at will as long as you allow it."
"Oh, sweet. So all I have to do is think it like Amy can bring out her Hammers and Sora can bring out his Keyblade?" Sonic asked.
"Precisely, yes. I have faith that you will master it before you realize it." The young wizard explained.
"Thanks a bunch, Merlina. I really owe ya." The cobalt teenager thanked, and slid on the new bracelet onto his right arm and tucked it underneath his glove's cuff to hide it.
"I will also teleport you both back to your world. The book will glow and will allow your friends to know that you are returning."
"Again, thanks."
"Hmmm...I supposed you and I will be traveling once again, Sir Sonic." Caliburn remarked, smirking a little as he hovered over to the teenage Mobian who would once again be wielding up.
"Just like old times, old pal, only you'll be seeing the modern world." Sonic chuckled with a shrug.
"Indeed." The Sacred Sword chuckled.
"We wish you a safe journey, Sir Sonic, Knight of the Wind, and to you as well, Caliburn, and Sir Sora, Knight of the Sky." King Arthur bestowed, to which the two other teenagers nodded.
"Thank you, and you guys be careful too." Sonic replied, as he and Sora both bowed once more and Caliburn lowered himself, before being magically absorbed into the former's new bracelet in a flash, startling the teenage blue hedgehog.
"I shall return you to your world. Best of luck, Sir Sonic and Sir Sora." Merlina nodded.
"Be careful, Knights of the other worlds. Your journey will not be easy." Nimue wished.
"Thank you, Lady Nimue." Sonic nodded, trying not to blush and wondered if Amy would meet her counterpart someday. Maybe he can invite all of his friends to this world for a little adventure when everything returns to normal.
With that, Merlina chanted her spell of teleportation, despite that part of her had wanted Sonic to stay, but like Arthur, would be wrong to keep the hero of Mobius here, especially when he would be constantly mistaken for the King as they were both mirror images. Before Sonic and Sora knew it, they were both being lifted up into the air as a portal opened up, and with the fifteen year old giving out a two-finger salute to his friends of this world, he and the sixteen year old were engulfed and vanished from the Realm of Camelot, and returning back to Mobius where new troubles were just about to begin.
Back in Mobius, as Amy cried, suddenly the glowing in the book in her arms grew brighter, startling her and the boys who turned to see what was going on. Sharing a glance and opening the book, they leaned back in fright as they heard yelling which became louder and louder. Before they knew it, a portal opened up from the floor just a few feet in front of them and Sonic and Sora both came flying out and landed almost clumsily on their feet just as the portal then vanished and the book stopped glowing.
Amy's group were shocked and stunned to see their two friends back home despite the book having been accidentally closed at the time.
"Ugh...Next time, remind me to ask Merlina for better landings." Sonic groaned, feeling a little dizzy as he placed a hand onto his head.
Sora shook his head before looking around and saw, to his surprise and relief, that they were back in Tails' Workshop and cheered excitedly. "We made it back! Sonic, it did work! We're back in Mobius!"
Seeing that he was right, the blue hedgehog smiled in relief and winked at his taller friend. "See? What'd I tell ya? I knew we'd be back even with the book closed."
"SONIC! SORA!" Tails and the others exclaimed in relief.
"Sonic! Oh, Sonic!" Amy tearfully cried, placing the book onto the table and raced over to her 'boyfriend' who yelped in fright and hugged him tightly. "I'm so sorry! A-An Earthquake hit, the book fell over and I tried to save it but I accidentally closed it! I-I thought you and Sora were gonna be trapped forever!"
"Amy, we're fine. Merlina helped us get back home." Sonic reassured, and yelped a little when Tails ran over to join the hugging reunion, which made the blue hedgehog hug both his little brother and self-proclaimed girlfriend back, relieved that they, Sun, who also joined in in sheer relief, and Knuckles were okay.
"What happened in there?" Sun asked. "You okay?"
"We're fine. We felt the Earthquake too, and Nimue and Merlina told us that something happened here." Sonic replied, before he and Sora explained to the others what they have learned and the connections. They both decided to leave out the part where the Keyblade Wielder had hallucinated and saw the Werehog.
"Hmmm...So by using this Power of Waking, both realities are in trouble because the punishment of using it the wrong way is being sent to different dimension." Knuckles thought he understood.
"Well, what was I supposed to do? Stay in the Final World while everybody else died and let Xehanort rebuilt the Realm of Light his way?" Sora shrugged, protesting wealky. "I know that we failed the first time and Chirithy warned me that I broke the rules, but Xehanort broke more rules than I did."
"I wouldn't say that it was you that caused the shift in the balance, Sora, but Xehanort." Tails spoke up. "You said that he brought many different version of himself from the past and placed those pieces of them inside vessels, right?"
"Yeah." The spiky-haired boy nodded.
"You think that by having so many versions of him in the future is what caused Space and Time to act all crazy, Tails?" Sonic questioned.
"That, and since he traveled back and forth through time so much, he created a time loop, and Sora had to break it a bit more to save everybody and change the future. It could be simple as that." The two-tailed fox explained.
"That would make sense. I remember how time could be changed on Little Planet with the Time Stones, even if there was a risk there." Amy recalled uneasily.
Sonic folded his arms in deep concerned thought. "I'm with you guys on that one. That Kingdom Hearts thing really should've been left alone, since that's way more dangerous than even the Chaos Emeralds and the Master Emerald if the bad guys like Xehanort or Eggman got to them."
"So, what now?" Sun questioned. "We have Terrance to worry about, and he's got...whatever he sucked up from Sora."
"First, we find the Chaos Emeralds to help Sora get home, and then we stop that Terror-Jerk creep." Sonic declared firmly, before turning to his right wrist and added. "We're gonna need all the help we can get this time and I have a bad feeling the situation's already a lot worse than we thought."
While he wasn't sure how to do it, the hero of Mobius knew that both Amy and Sora had to think of bringing their weapons out. Sonic felt embarrassed to even think of how to do it, but he thought about asking Caliburn to come out and join in on the conversation. To his surprise and the shock of everybody else despite Sora being used to it, under his silent wish the bracelet Merlina gave him glowed and in a light flash the Sacred Sword appeared and hovered beside the startled blue hedgehog.
"Whoa!" Sonic yelped, before sweat dropping. "Well, that was easy."
"Sonic...where did...?" Tails trailed off, in shock.
"Did you just...summon a sword?" Amy asked in disbelief. How did her 'boyfriend' even do that?
"Courtesy of Merlina. She gave me this magic bracelet so I coud burrow King Arthur's sword for a little while." Sonic explained, showing off the bracelet to show his friends and family who gazed at it, before he gestured at the sword. "Caliburn, meet my friends and family: This is Miles Prower, who we all call Tails, my best buddy and little bro'. Amy Rose, who uh...is really in love with me. Knuckles the Echidna, the guardian of the Master Emerald, and finally, my other brother and best friend Sun the Hedgehog who we met five months ago. Guys, this is Caliburn, the Sacred Sword and the true Exclalibur of King Arthur."
"Whoa...! That's really Caliburn?" Tails breathed in awe.
"The sword does look really cool." Amy remarked, smiling.
"...Um, why is it floating like that?" Sun asked, a little uncomfortably.
"Seriously, Sonic. You're let the lady Wizard let you borrow a sword that can float and you're still convinced that it can talk?" Knuckles asked, still not believing this one bit.
"Hmph! I, good sir, can speak!" Caliburn scoffed in annoyance, which shocked all of Sonic's close friends who yelped and cried out in fright, recoiling in fear that the sword would attack them, while Sonic and even Sora both tried hard not to laugh. "You are even more rude than Sir Sonic and Sir Gawain were."
"What!? Say that again, you oversized letter opener!" Knuckles snarled angrily, before Sonic pushed him back away from the scared sword to prevent his echidna friend from being threatened if Caliburn could.
"Easy, Knuckles. He can be annoying at times, I know. But he'll come through." The blue hedgehog cautioned.
"But why are you here, um, Mr. Caliburn?" Tails questioned carefully and with respect.
Caliburn turned his gaze to the young fox and responded, while remarking. "His royal majesty King Arthur requested Sir Sonic to have me join him on his new quest. And I can also see that Sonic is right. You and the rest of his friends are identical to the young Blacksmith, Sir Gawain and Lady Nimue."
He then gazed at Sun, before adding. "This young man who bears the same appearance as Sir Sonic and the King, but in different colour, not so."
"I'm not surprised. It's a long story on where I come into play." The orange hedgehog shrugged, and while he was still uneasy with a talking sword, he decided to treat Caliburn like he was a regular guy. "I can't run fast like Sonic, the King or even Shadow, or even Sir Lancelot, but I'm a fighter in strength."
"Sun can be just as strong as Knuckles and Gawain." Sonic explained.
"I see. There is something about him that has strength. He could use some training, but I believe you have trained him well, Sir Sonic." Caliburn acknowledged. "And your friend Amy Rose, she is a mirror image of Lady Nimue. Her beauty radiates light and I can tell she holds a different kind of magic."
Amy found herself blushing over the sword's compliments with her skills and her beauty. "T-Thank you, Caliburn. I did used to read the Chariot Cards a lot before I began learning how to use my Hammers. Plus, I am Sonic's girlfriend, because we were fated to meet."
'Oh man...' The aforementioned blue hedgehog rolled his eyes, trying hard not to groan.
"Mr. Sonic! Tails!" A young girl's voice called out suddenly from the front door, causing Sonic and all of his friends to turn just as a loud banging was heard on the front door.
Sharing an uneasy glance, the group hurried over as Sonic opened up and found to his and his friends' surprise were Cream, who had been calling out, Cheese who was in her arms once more, and Staria "Star" Amantha, who had been the one knocking urgently, stand there looking all panicked, fearful and worried.
"Cream? Cheese? Star? What's up?" Sonic asked, concerned.
"Sonic, you won't believe wh-huh?" Star cut herself off when she saw not only Sonic and Tails at the door way of the house, but also Amy, Sun, Knuckles, a teenage human boy in red and black clothing and...a floating sword with a face? "Uh...Is this a really bad time?"
"Depends on what you mean on bad timing, Star." The blue hedgehog apologetically replied, once he realized what she, Cream and Cheese were staring at.
"Oh! We're sorry, Mr. Sonic. We didn't know everybody else were here and you have new friends." Cream spoke up, while she was greeted with a hug by a very relieved Amy as the young seven year old girl hugged her back.
"Not to worry, Cream. I guess things are just as crazy and I'll bet you came here because of the Earthquake, right?" The hero of Mobius replied, opening the door more widely and allowed the two other girls and little Chao to enter.
"There's that, and there's something else that is just as crazy." Star replied as she, Cream and Cheese entered with Amy, before asking. "Who's this?"
"This is our new friend, Sora. We met him yesterday." Tails introduced. "Sora, meet Star, Cream and her Chao best friend Cheese."
"Hey there." The teenage boy greeted, bending low to greet Cream. "It's nice to meet you."
"Likewise, Sora." Star replied, already sensing that the spiky-haired teen was really nice, yet she sensed that there was something very different about him compared to all the other humans she encountered.
"Hello, Mr. Sora. It's so nice to meet you too." Cream greeted politely, bowing her head to him, surprising the Keyblade Wielder.
'Wow. What a polite girl.' Sora thought to himself.
"And...you will both find this really surprising, but this is Caliburn. He's from the world of King Arthur I told ya's about." Sonic gestured at the Sacred Sword next, confusing the girls who were just as surprised that this sword was indeed alive.
"Um...Nice to meet you, Caliburn." Star greeted in awkward politeness.
"Hello, Mr. Caliburn." Cream added, though she was more braver and more curious due to her age.
Caliburn, pleased with the polite manners of the two young ladies, greeted back with a warm smile. "Greetings, young Lady Star and young Lady Cream. I must say, you are both very well mannered."
While Star was startled and Cheese squeaked in shock, Cream was surprised but then she calmed down and nodded. "Thank you, Mr. Caliburn. You're very nice."
"Thank you." The Sacred Sword replied, finding himself just as surprised at Cream's very well behaved manners.
"So anyway, what's going on? Did something bad happen?" Amy asked, worriedly.
"Well, considering that Caliburn is here, I think you guys should see this. Mobius is in real big trouble!" Star cried out worriedly.
"Eggman? Or Terrance?" Sun asked in concern.
"Terrance? But I thought-" The lavender hedgehog cut herself by shaking her head and hurried into the living room to show her friends who all followed. "Not sure how Terrance or even Eggman are involved, but you should see this! It's crazy!"
Finding the TV remote on the coffee table, the fifteen year old girl flipped it on as the Breaking News revealed several images of the Planet, with the female reporter Scarlet Garcia reported. "While authorities and GUN have no answers on what occured just now, but the planet of Mobius has just experienced a very unusual phemonon in four different locations. The areas affected are Shamar, Holoska, Spagonia and near Green Hill Zone on South Island, while the fifth is sighted to be in the sky somewhere. Some believe it is on Angel Island, the home of Knuckles the Echidna, the close friend and ally of the hero Sonic the Hedgehog."
As Sonic and his friends watched on in concern, images of said places, much to their shock and horror, revealed parts of the regions now having new unfamiliar areas with purple lines somehow separating them like they were borders or territories, while Knuckles was just as horrified to hear that even Angel Island was effected.
"Oh no...!" Knuckles muttered, before screaming out. "The Master Emerald!"
"Can't you just forget about the Master Emerald for a second!? The rest of the world have new weird places appearing out of nowhere!" Amy snapped in annoyance, scaring her older friend who flinched.
"Hey, my Island is also affected! I didn't even sense the Master Emerald give out any warnings!" The red echidna argued.
"No way...!" Sora whispered, as unlike the Mobians and the Sacred Sword, he recognized the places that just appeared out of nowhere. "I know those places! They're from other worlds I've been to!"
"WHAT!?" Sonic and the rest of the group exclaimed in disbelief.
"Look closely there! That palace in the desert is Agrabah! The place in that cold snow place is Arendelle, and that's Twilight Town next to Spagonia...and in that place on that Island...Is Disney Castle!" The Keyblade Wielder pointed. "See? I've been to those worlds in the Realm of Light in all of my adventures."
"No way!" Sonic shouted in shock. More than that, at the mention of Disney Castle being close to Green Hill Zone, he was now worried about his parents.
"Wait, what? What do you mean other worlds? What's going on?" Star asked, bewildered while Cream and Cheese were confused.
Suddenly remembering who else was here, Sonic and the others felt sheepish before quickly explaining the situation about Sora's condition and what not and why Caliburn was here.
"So, you're from a different dimension and you sacrificed yourself but instead of vanishing from existance, you found yourself here in Mobius since yesterday...How odd." Star murmured, once she got the picture.
"That's very awful you and your friends had to go through all of that, Mr. Sora." Cream said, frightened over Xehanort's actions, Sora being stuck here and now four or five worlds somehow ended up merging with Mobius and feeling sorry for the Keyblade Wielder.
"Chao..." Cheese echoed with feeling.
"Yeah...Even worse, now this has happened. Maybe it is all my fault. I...I really messed up big time." Sora lowered his gaze, his guilt over his actions growing stronger.
Sonic didn't know what to say to cheer his friend up, especially since the situation was now even worse than ever. Yet despite feeling guilty for not knowing how to fix this, he narrowed his eyes with determination. "We'll figure it out. Not sure how yet, but standing here doing nothing isn't gonna solve anything."
"Sonic's right, Sora. If we act now, we can fix this. I'm pretty sure it isn't your fault that all of this happened." Tails agreed.
"I have to go back to Angel Island to see what else got transported here." Knuckles announced.
"I'm gonna call Professor Pickle to check to see if he's okay." Tails added.
"And I'll call Mom and Dad. I'm worried about them." Sonic concluded, only for the phone to ring, surprising the blue hedgehog and his family and friends. Zooming over, he quickly answered in the middle of the second ring. "Sonic speaking."
"Sonic? Are you and Tails alright?" A familiar older male's voice asked, sounding quite worried yet attempting to remain calm.
"Dad?" The teenage blue hedgehog responded in surprise and relief. Speak of the devil. "I was just about call you and Mom. Are you guys okay?"
Sonic's father, Jules Hedgehog, sighed a relief over the phone as he replied. "We're fine, kiddo. Just shaken over the Earthquake and a white and blue castle with a strange town appearing out of nowhere. That and other places across the globe just suddenly came and nobody knows what just happened."
"Yeah, Star just showed us on the News. Don't worry, everybody's fine. But we're kinda in a bit of a sticky situation and I think those places appearing might be related to it." Sonic said.
"Sonic, sweetie? It's your mother. Are you okay?" A female voice now spoke, a bit far away, but close enough to be next to Jules, which Sonic sighed a little in relief to hear that it was his mother's voice, Bernadette Hedgehog.
"Hey there, Mom. I'm okay, and so are Tails and everybody else. I was worried about you and Dad." The soon-to-be-sixteen year old replied reassuringly, just as Tails came over.
"Thank goodness. When that Earthquake hit, I was so worried." Bernadette replied, sounding like she was about to cry while she was being comforted by her husband.
"Sonic, do you know what's going on out there? What's happening?" Jules asked carefully and in deep concern.
Sonic hesitated as he and Tails shared a glance, before gazing at their friends, and then the teenage Mobian said. "It's a very complicated story, Dad. I think it's best to explain it when we get to South Island to investigate. Right now, we need to check up on Knuckles and Angel Island and then figure out what to do next. I wish we could get back to Green Hill Zone right away, but well...hero duties and all that."
"We're fine, just scared out of our wits. Do you what you need, but just be really careful and we'll see you soon."
"Will do. I promise. You and Mom be safe, okay? Tails and Sun send their love, and Amy, Cream and Cheese and Star said hi, and I'll tell them and Knuckles you guys said hi too. Love you and Mom, Dad." Sonic said back.
"We love you and your brothers too, son." Jules replied.
"Be careful, honey. I love you you all." Bernadette responded, making a soft kissing noise which made her teenage son blush a little in embarrasment.
"Thanks, and we will, Mom. Bye." The cobalt teenager replied, before he and his parents both hung up. With a sigh and sensing everybody's worry more than seeing them, Sonic turned to Tails. "You'd better call the Professor, Tails. I'm gonna go with Knux to check up on the Master Emerald just in case."
"It might take too long to get up there by yourselves, Sonic. I can take you guys there in the X Tornado since it's faster." Tails pointed out.
"Hmmm...You got a point." Sonic conceded. "This is getting too weird."
No one even knew what to make of this even though Sora felt that it was all his fault, knowing that he had to help his new friends to fix and save their world before it got even worse, but one was for certain, their problems were only just going to get more complicated if not even worse.
Debating on who should go and who should stay, it was agreed that Sonic, Tails and Knuckles went to Angel Island to investigate what other world had gotten there, with Sora joining them since he knew more than they did. The hero of Mobius also recalled Caliburn back into his bracelet just in case evil forces of darkness from Sora's reality may be behind it, while Sun agreed to stay behind with the girls and Cheese despite Amy's protests, but she was eventually convinced to stay behind as her strength may be needed to protect Cream and Cheese just in case.
Right now Team Sonic and Sora flew in the X Tornado, which was bigger than the Tornado 1, and much faster too since the Keyblade Wielder felt the increased speed.
"So, can Angel Island really fly, Knuckles?" Sora asked, while trying to get used to the speed of Tails' other plane.
"As long as the Master Emerald remains untouched and stays where it is, then yeah. It floats around all over the planet and stays in one place for a while." The guardian of the Master Emerald explained. "I've been guarding it for as long as I can remember, since I grew up there all by myself."
"Really? Like as in, all by yourself?" The Keyblade Wielder asked, worriedly.
Knuckles just shrugged. "I've been used to it. It was always been that way, my life to always guard it forever. Then one day, everything changed when Eggman came to the Island and...I was tricked into thinking he needed my help to save the world."
"Short version: Egghead made Knuckles think me and Tails were the bad guys and we fought 'til he stole the Master Emerald. That was back when he was known as Dr. Ivo Robotnik, but I used to call that guy Ro-butt-nik, but anyway, the three of us teamed up to stop that creep, rescue the giant Emerald and save the world. We've kinda been keeping in touch one way or another until we all teamed up to stop Metal Sonic and now we're pretty much really good buddies." Sonic explained, smirking.
"Even though you still drive me crazy with your attitude, Sonic, I'm glad that we have met in the end. Kind of missed going on adventures with you and Tails, but that's between the four of us." The red echidna smirked back, as the blue hedgehog laughed before the two teenagers shared a bro-fist.
"Wouldn't have it any other way, Knuckles." The hero of Mobius agreed. In fact, Sonic was ever so grateful to have all of his friends in his life, and so happy as well. It was thanks to the older Mobian, and Tails in the pilot seat, and also Amy and everybody else that he had managed to finally be healed from his two month of guilt-tripping torture over what happened five months ago.
That, and also the hallucination of Chip helped out, not to mention the way how Shadow managed to solve his own hallucination problems. Thinking this made Sonic realize that now Sora was feeling the similar effects, only the darkness of Dark Gaia was effecting him and the situation with the realities based on it's and Light Gaia's battles was related to it. Given his experience, the teenage hedgehog managed to drive the Werehog away from Sora's mind and heart for the time being, but for how long, though?
"AH!" Tails suddenly cried out, alarming his older friends. "Look at that!"
When Sonic, Knuckles and Sora looked up as they saw the familiar floating landmark of Angel Island, not only was the teenage human boy shocked to see it actually float, but to his and the others' great confusion and disbelief, just about maybe a good safe fifteen meters or so away. A strange fresh green landmark attached to the giant island, apparently small and also having been floating at some stage, but what really got to them was the unusual tower that reminded Sonic of fairy tales and story books of powerful wizards, not counting the legend of King Arthur, but more of magical mystery sort of thing.
"...It's the Mysterious Tower...!" Sora murmured, his eyes widening in disbelief. "That means...Master Yen Sid is here!"
"Say what? You mean that's the tower King Mickey Mouse's teacher lives?" Sonic asked, shocked once more, as were two of his best friends who sweat dropped.
The teenage boy nodded, before thinking. "Maybe all of my friends know about your world, guys. Maybe the King really did come here."
"Considering how much Mickey Mouse is pretty famous, I'd say you're right." Tails agreed.
"Well then, if that Sorcerer guy really is here, then I say we go pay him a visit and ask him what's going on. Maybe he can give us a clue." Sonic decided.
"You sure we can trust this guy?" Knuckles asked, sounding a little uneasy.
"Master Yen Sid taught the King everything he knew, and even had me and Riku go through a test to prove ourselves. King Mickey gave me, Donald and Goofy the money for the train ride to see him. He even trained Kairi and Axel. In fact, he saved us from the Heartless Horde Xigbar sent out to attack us." Sora explained firmly.
Sonic felt a little intimidated despite how much Yen Sid actually did care. "He sure sounds like a really powerful sorcerer. I'd hate to get on his bad side."
"Well, he can be pretty strict, but he cares." The Keyblade Wielder shrugged, before shuddering a little. "Now that I think about it, I'm in for an earful for what I did."
That only made Sonic and his friends even more concerned as they all shared uneasy glances. Suddenly this meeting with an all time powerful wizard from Sora's reality had just gotten even more scary.
As the four were approaching, inside the tower after having braced himself while using his magic to do his best to put up a shield, Yen Sid, having recovered while slightly disoriented as he sensed he was no longer in the Realm of Light and he could still sense his former apprentice and the others in the new world, gazed out of the crescent-shaped moon window of the clear blue sky, having seen the new landmark far beyond his years.
He even sensed powerful energy of light and darkness beyond his comprehension but easy enough to understand a little bit of it, lit up by the enormous Gem Stone on the ancient Altar. But what also got his attention was the flying machine more advanced than the Gummiship, making it's way towards the new floating island, and within it, he sensed four lights, one that was familiar and very alive, two that weren't that strong but strong enough with new energy, and the fourth one having remarkable strength within the heart, a strong power of light of this world.
The Sorcerer knew then that he was in for a meeting...and a reunion.
"Sora...You are alive." Yen Sid muttered to himself.
The question now was that what has happened beyond what he could sense.
Meanwhile, as Eggman was being carried in the helicopter yet again along with his robots, the massive shock-waves caused the GUN chopper to lose control and some of the passengers, including the evil scientist himself as well as Decoe, Bocoe, Bokkun, Orbot and Cubot, to fall out and land in separate areas below and far beyond Station Square and the military facility.
While they did manage to escape by sheer luck by the unusual event and the soldiers that also fell out were still alive themselves due to having parachutes, the evil bumbling six ended up having a not-so-pleasent crash landing as usual.
In fact, the six laid on the ground in the middle of a forest flat everywhere...well, Decoe and Bocoe's case, literally, but they were still functional as they, Orbot, Cubot, and Bokkun reactivated, and groaned in agony.
"Man, that wasn't a fun ride at all." Cubot complained, rubbing his head. "I think I got a headache."
"I think my joints are bent out of angle." Orbot moaned, rubbing his left arm.
"At least you both and Bokkun are still in one piece." Bocoe deadpanned, with his right arm and both legs lying beside him.
"We're both literally in pieces. That strange shockwave caused massive ends and Earthquakes everywhere." Decoe added, already attempting to put himself back together, as he really hated it when he was in pieces. He wished that his joints were super glued or something.
Bokkun in the meantime, noticed how Eggman was seemingly unmoving, approached with caution and began to poke the doctor's leg with a stick the same way Tails did two years ago during the Chaos Crisis...and very much like that time, the evil scientist groaned and slowly began to sit up.
"WAAH! He is alive!" Bokkun yelped in fright, as though worried his creator had become a zombie.
"Of course I am, you little bomb-hog!" Eggman growled in annoyance, sore but very much alive and in a really foul mood. "Now don't just sit there! Get these things off of me!"
He held up his still cuffed wrists which made things difficult for him to do anything much.
Half an hour later...
It took a lot of bickering and yelling as the robots had their cuffs snapped off, but finally Eggman's were gone and now the six of them were making their way to a clearing without the GUN authorities finding them so that the mad doctor could go back to plotting his revenge against Sonic and his friends, including that new boy Sora with the giant magic Key-Sword weapon, and especially that infuriating Terrance the Hybrian.
The first thing to do once they find the clearing is to summon another Egg Mobile or even his Egg Fortress 5 since going back to his Base now was pointless.
"It's too hot out here. I want ice cream and zillions of milkshakes!" Bokkun whined pathetically.
"I bet it's like 300 degrees out here, 'cause I think my body parts are gonna melt." Cubot panted as he hovered slowl while lagging behing everyone else.
"Why couldn't have landed in a place where it's cooler?" Decoe complained loudly, feeling like he was about to shut down.
"As long as it wasn't in water or in the snow as cold as Holoska, I wouldn't mind." Orbot moaned.
"Please, Doctor. Can't you just summon the Egg Fort to us right here? My legs are killing me." Bocoe begged.
That only got on Eggman's nerves as he stopped and whirled around snapping furiously, despite that he was feeling just as exhausted. "Quit your whining! I refuse to spend the rest of the day listening to your lily-lagging! The sooner we find Sonic and his friends, and search everywhere for that Hybrian Terrance to get my revenge, the better!"
"With all due respect, doctor, Terrance has already proven to be more of a threat and an obstacle than Sonic. Wouldn't it be best to take him out first and then think about your revenge?" Orbot suggested nervously, leaning back as he knew it was a huge risk to make such a suggestion and he feared for his metal life.
Eggman was about to snap and deny the plan, when he stopped and thought about for a moment. During the whole thing, he remembered how Terrance attempted to absorb something from his long time young enemy, but that seemed to fail as Sonic was a lot stronger in his mind and heart. Yet the evil Hybrian's machine seemed to have strangely succeeded with the cobalt teenager's new human friend Sora, who apparently had magic of his own which was unusual for a human to even accomplish.
"I simply absorbed the final piece of what is to be mine. It was originally meant to be drawn from Sonic, but because you and he have overcome your own negative emotions, disgustingly forgiven yourselves, it appears that Dark Gaia and the Werehog have now chosen your new friend. And from the looks of it, he has his own fair share of guilt, and it seems to be overcoming him and his weak little mind." The Hybrian Hedgehog calmly explained.
The moment the evil scientist remembered it and having been to busy being furious over the Hybrian's treatment over Sonic and his new friend over what he originally thought was an experiment, colour began to drain from Eggman's face as he almost instantly realized what the mad mutant hedgehog's plan was.
"Oh no...Not that. Why didn't I see that sooner!?" Eggman exclaimed in horror, his hands on his head as he cried out. "That Hybrian is attempting to formalate another part of Dark Gaia's early awakening!"
"What!?" The five robots all screamed out in horror and disbelief.
"But I thought Sonic and his friends defeated Dark Gaia!" Decoe pointed out fearfully.
"And what did he mean by the Werehog? I thought that monster was gone too." Bocoe added worriedly.
"Well, I did ignore one part of it in case it were to happen, but even though I know nothing much of it, according to the Gaia Manuscript, there was a piece of evidence which I doubt is related, but it speaks of a prophecy which links this world, if not the whole universe and Space and Time itself, to a whole new reality existing outside of our own." The evil scientist explained, feeling somewhat sheepish.
"A new reality?" Bokkun asked, blinking in confusion.
"How is that even possible and what does it have to do with Dark Gaia and the Werehog?" Orbot asked, bewildered.
"From what I have gathered with little information, to do remember reading up a hidden copy thought to have been out of anybody's hands that Dark Gaia would be asleep once defeated by a bearer of light, and a dark creation would choose to haunt a person or a group of people who may have gone through a terrible event no one is meant to know, and drown them in their fear and guilt before a clone of the dark creation, the clone of a clone of a Mobian, human or Mobini, would choose a willing host to be reborn, even through the possibiltiy of copying one's hallucinations based on memories and nightmares." Eggman revealed.
A moment of silence, and while four of the evil doctor's robots shared very fearful and uneasy glances, Cubot, being the stupidest of the creations, only tilted his head, dumbfounded.
"You kinda lost me there, Dr. E." Cubot remarked.
"Do you think Terrance is going to bring back Dark Gaia and the Werehog and start what you attempted to do all over again?" Decoe asked, shakily.
"A simple copy based on fear and memories wouldn't be enough. But if two realities were to collide somehow, that would only give Terrance a better chance. While he may not be attempting to do what I tried to, I have a terrible feeling he only wishes to revive the Werehog due to Sun the Hedgehog being the former clone of Sonic himself. What intrigues me is that boy Sora with the giant Key he uses as a weapon, and having socerery of his own and why is that brat related to all of this?" Eggman explained and thought deeply.
Just then the villainous group heard an unfamiliar groaning from close by which startled the human scientist and his robotic creations. Suddenly nervous as they all felt very bad vibes that was worse than that of Black Doom and his army, yet curiosity getting the better of them, Eggman, who very firmly shushed his stupid minions, Decoe, Bocoe, Bokkun, Orbot and Cubot all nervously tip-toed closer to see what was going on.
Hiding behind a fairly large tree within the woods, the group peered and saw an unfamiliar big fact cat lying on the ground face down, and approaching from the right, a green-fair skinned woman with a haunting look, wearing a black and purple tattered robe and a horned hat, wielding a long staff with a green gem, appeared and glared down at what the evil group thought was another Mobian cat that wasn't Sonic's friend Big, unaware that this was a Maleficent and her own stupid minion Pete, both coming from Sora's reality.
"Awaken, you bumbling fool! This is not the time to sleep." Maleficent ordered darkly.
Having been knocked out due to the failed attack on Mickey's group back in the Keyblade Graveyard, Pete groaned and tried to push himself up, only to find that his face was stuck in the soil. After a few awkward and painful tugs and pulls, the big large evil cat finally managed to free himself and spat and coughed out dirt and mud that got into his mouth.
"D'oooooh! With all yer' respect, Maleficent, ya' couldn't give out a warning before you attacked those pipsqueaks!?" Pete asked in irritation, standing up as he dusted himself off.
Eggman and his robots, quickly realizing that the two new people could see them, quickly ducked behind the tree. Except for Cubot who simply hovered there, before the evil scientist snatched him and covered the robot's mouth just as the yellow square-bot was attempting to protest.
"Quiet! They'll hear us...!" Eggman snapped in a very hushed tone, hoping that whoever those two villains were wouldn't attack.
"Silence! Even I make mistakes, as I had not expect Aqua to use her spell in attempt to protect herself and all of her and Sora's friends from reaching into the portal the King has created." The evil fairy snarled.
'Wait a minute...that lady said Sora...It can't be that same brat that Sonic's friends with, could it?' Eggman thought to himself, suspiciously as he listened in as silently as possible. So Sora had friends looking for him, and it wasn't Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles or Sun, because he never heard of anybody named Aqua before. This seemed to be interesting.
"Okay, I get your point." Pete grumbled as he dusted himself off, before he looked around and realized that he and his boss were no longer in the Keyblade Graveyard, but in a forest that was unfamiliar to both of them. "Say, where are we anyways? I don't remember you usin' a corridor of darkness to get from that deserted world to...wherever d'is new place is."
"I did not. It would seem my power and Aqua's have inflicted with the King's reality travel spell and have caught us." Maleficent responded, gazing around as well. "This new place intrigues me."
'What!? Deserted world, a king's reality travelling spell and...but how?' The evil scientist hiding thought, as he and his robots were shocked despite that they all tried to remain silent to avoid in getting caught.
Despite being the dimwitted villain, Pete scratched his head thoughtfully before suggesting. "Maybe the spell still kinda worked and dragged us here as well as those guys. I ain't no expert and I could be wrong, but maybe this here's new world is where those pretty magic Chaos Emerald gems are."
Eggman mentally flinched in shock, before he mentally groaned in dismay. Great, it was the situation with Black Doom all over again, only with the silly nonsense of hocus pocus.
Maleficent thought about it and began to smile cruelly. "Perhaps you are right. This could very well be the world where the King has ventured to many years ago. All we need to do now is begin our search for those Chaos Emeralds, and once we do, we will have the power to destroy Sora, all of his friends, and all those who attempt to stop us. Soon both this world and all of the Realm of Light shall into darkness and be mine!"
With that thought in mind and completely unaware of the horrified Eggman's presence, Maleficent then summoned another Corridor of Darkness and stepped though calmly, with Pete quickly following after her to begin their search just as it disappears, leaving the bewildered and terrified evil group of Mobius as they all stood there in pure horror.
"Now we have an even bigger problems!" Decoe exclaimed in fear once he and the others knew it was safe to come out of hiding.
"Oh no! I don't know this is possible, but now both realities are in danger because of that crazy witch! If she gets the Chaos Emeralds and destroys and redoes everything in her favor, we're all doomed! I can't rule Mobius or the universe if there's nothing left!" Eggman exclaimed in horror, letting go of Cubot who was accidentally thrown and the robot cried out before crashing face first into a tree with a yelp, before sliding slowly to the ground.
"But what about Sonic's friend, Sora? How is he part of this?" Bocoe asked, fearfully.
"It's unclear on whether Sonic knows about this yet or not, and knowing that blue hedgehog, he probably does, that boy Sora is to those two we just saw what Sonic is to me: That kid is a hero of another reality, which is unbelievable!" The evil scientist explained as he, being the brilliant scientist that he was, put the two pieces together.
"But how did he get here?" Bokkun asked, shocked.
"That is something we must find out! I hate to do this, but we will form another truce with Sonic and his bratty friends to stop those two as well as Terrance. The fate of both realities are at stake and I for one won't let some witch lady in a horrendous outfit get to my Chaos Emeralds first!" Eggman declared, determined to get to the bottom of this and solve this crisis before it got even worse.
As much as he hated forming a truce with Sonic, he would rather do that than have the universe be destroyed by the hands of Maleficent. So the mad doctor quickly pulled out a remote which thankfully remained in his pockets undetected(the sloppy work of GUN agents) and pushed a button.
Around another half an hour later while waiting impatiently, Eggman's Egg Fort 5 has arrived and he and his robots, with Cubot being dragged by Orbot who told him to get going, climbed aboard and began to take flight to begin a new goal.
"Bokkun. Go and send an urgent message to Sonic, and make sure that Malefi-whatever her name is and her fat dumb loser minion don't see you!" Eggman ordered at the control seat in the cockpit.
"Yes, sir, Dr. Eggman!" Bokkun saluted, before he flew away to deliever the message to the teenage hedgehog and his friends.
"I just hope it isn't too late. If the shockwaves is caused by those two and those who are attempting to find that kid, then they have distrubed the very fabric of reality." Eggman whispered to himself, once again very concerned in a rare moment that wasn't about himself(mostly), but for Mobius and Sonic's group. Still, that didn't mean he was giving on his own agenda, and would still claim the Chaos Emeralds for himself and stop anybody in his tracks.
But for now, he had to steer clear from Maleficent and Pete.
Again unbeknownst to them and anybody else, on the ground below Soloman heard and sensed the whole thing, before he frowned deeply. "The situation has become far more dire. Sonic and Sora must both find the Chaos Emeralds and the truth before it is too late. I must make my move, immediately."
Knowing what he had to do despite that he could end up having Sonic and his friends mistake him for an enemy, the High-Guard Octosaur turned before vanishing to accomplish his own goal.
The situation was becoming much more dangerous already.
A/N: I debated on whether Chip/Light Gaia would return or not, but then I decided to do it anyway instead of making another OC for this story. I might still do it, but it depends on how far this story will go.
