Mirabel couldn't believe it, a part of her must wonder if she may be losing her mind, or she would if her hand wasn't cut. Of course, she knows some people believe that she was trying to ruin Antonio's big day, but that wasn't it, the cracks were there, the candle was fading, and no one, not even her mother, believed her. She makes up her mind to do something else, something that she perhaps should have done a long time ago.

She lights a candle and grabs a piece of paper, 'Dear Madrigals Family, I am writing to let you know that I am leaving. After tonight, I realize that I don't belong here. I am not running away, I am just doing what Abuela Alma told me and I'm standing aside. I will come back once I find what my worth is, after I prove that I never needed a gift to prove my worth, I will return someday, Love Mirabel.'

She gets up, puts the note on the bed and begins to pack up, she gets her suitcase closed and opens the door to find her cousin Dolores standing there and she looks at her, "Dolores, Hi. I…uhh, what are you doing here?"

Dolores looks at her, "I believe that you think something is wrong, that you need to do something, but is it really this? What about Antonio? You know he looks up to you as a big sister. Is this really what you want to do? Just run away?"

Mirabel looks at Dolores, "So what? They can just tell him that I tried to ruin his big day out of jealousy, talk negatively about me often enough until he hates me like most of everyone else in this family."

Dolores sighs, "It may seem that way at times, but no one hates you, Mirabel."

Mirabel looks down and mutters, knowing that it doesn't matter, "Isabela certainly seems to do a good job of pretending too, not to mention Abuela Alma, you should be happy, I'm removing the stain on our family's image." She begins to brush past her.

Dolores touches her shoulder, "I understand that you aren't happy, and others may necessarily have bad thoughts about you, but you never would have tried to hurt Antonio, remember, I hear everything, I heard how you comforted him earlier tonight while he was scared and even walked with him to his door despite our Abuela Alma's disapproval."

Mirabel shrugs her off, "Yeah, and thank goodness that Antonio received his gift too because if he didn't, everyone in the family would have found a way to blame me. Then, I would have truly been an outcast." She walks off after that, carrying her suitcase and takes a horse and heads toward the river on horseback, determined to find her own destiny.

Dolores stands there and lets the tears fall and she whispers quietly, "I hope you find what you are looking for cus, I know you'll make us all proud. I have a wish just for you, grow baby cousin, come back someday, come and show how brightly you shine too."
