Hey fairy tail fans, I'm back with the next chapter of a fairy tail retold. Nothing new to report. Thanks for all the likes and followers; that is typical stuff all writers say at the beginning of new chapters. anywho let's get on with the story
Last time on a fairy tail re-told
Happy: our friends have been captured, and we're running out of time.
Gajeel: it's time to pick up the pace if we're going to save the others
Carla: I don't know
Happy: stow that talks. We're going to save them.
Gajeel: Yeah
Nichiya and Nabby stared in shock at Happy's statement as the blue cat glared daggers at the two "you don't think" Nabby asked before Happy grabbed Carla's hand and dragged her off.

"come on, Carla, we're leaving," he screamed as he rushed out of the palace "let them come after us; I'm not going to abandon my friends," he said as Carla followed close behind.
"I see," Nabby said, a bit of disappointment in his voice, "they must've been tainted by earth land," he said, "They have fallen from grace."
"they are fallen angels," Nichiya said, tears starting to fall from his face, "otherwise known as fallen, meow" he then rushed to the highest point he could reach "two fallen are loose in the city," he shouted to all the royal guards who could hear him "hunt them down.
Fly to our friends!
Natsu and Wendy sat on opposite sides of their cell in the royal city. "I can't believe this," Natsu muttered. "Happy would never betray us like this," Natsu muttered, "there's not a bad bone in the little guy's body."
"neither would Carla," Wendy said, although she didn't know what to think right now "they'll find a way and come for us. I know it."
"I hope your right, kid," Natsu said, sitting down, "cause not having magic here sucks," he said as he looked to the side, "that and they could come to drain us of our magic power at any minute."
On the other side of the palace, Lucy finally realized she was trapped in a wooden plank "where am I" Lucy muttered, "and how the hell did I get caught in this thing" she shouted, trying to break free. She looked around and noticed Lissanna and edolas Wendy were still passed out. Then the previous night's events came to her "oh right, I was captured," Lucy calmed down, "we were so close."
Happy and Carla ran through the streets of Extalia "hey, aren't those the heroes from before" someone asked as the pair ran by, chased by the royal guards. Happy dodged a strike from the gauds as he and Carla continued to run through the streets before they dived into a small cart filled with hey as guards ran past it knocking one of the blocks off Nichiya, who was trailing behind, stopped as he tried to catch his breath "I'm fine" he stated as he knocked the other block of causing the cart to roll off with Happy and Carla in it.
"oh no," Happy shouted as the pair rolled through the streets falling through cliffs and everything, almost knocking Carla out of the cart. "Happy," she screamed as he grabbed her.
"I got you," he told her as they fell off the cliff landing on the ground "you okay," he asked as he sat up "is the word spinning for you too."
"nothing's broken," Carla muttered as she looked to the side, and to her shock, she saw the lacrmia they were looking for "look Happy," she pointed out.
"our friends must be inside that one," Happy muttered, "I thought the one in the city looked two small."
"speaking of which," Carla muttered as she pointed to the royal city, which was conveniently located underneath the Lacrima, "at least we don't have to travel far," Happy said, "but how are we going to get there."
"until we can use our magic," Carla said, "we're stuck."
"Who are you" a voice called; they looked back to find a white adult exceed "what are you doing in my field" he shouted, "scram," he shouted as he swung his hoe(the garden tool) at them.
'We need to find that cart," Nichiya's voice could be heard over the forest "those fallen can't have gotten far, not without their magic."
"oh no," Happy muttered.
"I said scram," the adult exceed screamed.
"Yeah, we're leaving," Happy answered him.
"Good," he told them, "now come to my place," he said as he dragged the pair from sight.
"where are the soldiers" Happy asked, "or did you report us already," he asked.
"shut it," the exceed shouted.
"I was just asking a question," Happy told him.
"oh, hello dear," a blue exceed walked, "your back from the fields early," she asked; he huffed and walked away "ooh, looked like we have guest," she asked, "what are your names."
"I'm Happy."
"I'm Carla."
"what lovely names," she said " my name is Marl; why don't you come inside and get cleaned up" she offered the two, who nodded and went inside
they found themselves at a table sitting across from the other exceed whose name they had learned was Lucky "thank you for taking us in," Happy said
"Gah," Lucky shouted again, "use that mouth for chewing, not yapping."
"Aye," Happy said, backing up again.
"Forgive my husband," Marl told them, "he doesn't quite see eye to eye with the kingdom and is very vocal about it."
"Gah," Lucy said, "why'd you have to go and tell them that"
"no reason, dear," Marl said, hiding a laugh.
"so that's why you helped us out," Happy asked.
"believe what you want, kid," Lucy said before busting out at Happy again "if you're going to stay here, you're going to work," he shouted, scaring the fish out of Happy's hand "now eat, you're going to need the energy, munch."
Later, Happy and Lucky, we're out working the field. "Gah put your back into it," Lucky shouted at him, "you want to be a man, right," he asked as Happy stopped.
"what does this have to do with becoming a man" Happy asked
"Gah," Lucy screamed again, "no back talk, ya hear," he screamed, "now less talking and more Hoen," he screamed at Happy.
"Aye, sir," Happy said, scarred, "Hoen away" a few minutes later, Happy came to a stop wiping the sweat from his brow, "mister," Happy asked, "you really work with these tools every day," he asked, "I feel like my back is about to give out."
"that means your one with the tool," Lucky told him, "its weight comes from the heaviness of the heart and soul, got it."
"Yeah, I see," Happy muttered, "this guy is over the top even when he's working, I probably shouldn't say that, so I'll keep my fish hole shut"
"you got that right, kid."
"Sorry"
"no, you're doing it wrong," Lucky screamed at Happy "a real man would do it like this," he screamed as Elfman passed through his mind as he watched Lucky plow the field "see, that's how you do it," he said
"Wow, that's amazing," Happy said
"stop gawking."
"Did he forget he told me to watch" Happy muttered
Marl and Carl watch from the house as Carl helps Marl peel her lemons "my, you're a fast one," Marl said
"it's straightforward, actually," Carla said as she looked back to Happy and Lucky, who asked to take a break "why don't you strong men come to take a break.
"Finally," Happy exclaimed, only to be stopped by Lucky.
"you better not think of drinking that before me," he said
"Aye, sir."
Back in the cell Lucy and the others have since been removed from their wooden planks and their hands Biden by the glue that captured them. Lucy tried to use her keys, but they didn't work 'this glue must affect my magic' she looked up to see edo Wendy practically burning a hole in the wall with her mind, "um, am I missing something here."
"nothing," edo Wendy told her, "nothing at all."
she then remembered the death glare she was giving this world Erza; she had only seen that look on Natsu back during the nirvana incident when they found out Jellal was alive "hey," Lucy whispered, "I don't know, I should say this, but" Lucy looked to the side "it was Erza wasn't it."
edo Wendy didn't say anything; she just nodded her head "that wench took him from me," her voice cracked as the memory entered her mind "for as long as I can remember, all I had was Natsu and Lisanna."
Flashback
around three years ago, the edolas version of Natsu was seen with Lisanna and Wendy in the magic mobile driving across the land. Wendy was lying, down listening in on the two's conversation,
"you sure about this, Lisanna," edo Natsu asked. "I mean, what if this is a trap, and they're trying to kill wizards," he asked
"it's not," Lisanna said. "I heard it from Cana; she'd never betrayed us like that."
"I hope your right," Natsu said, looking back at Wendy, who he noticed was half asleep; he let out a sigh as he looked back at the road "all I care about is keeping you two safe, ya got that," Natsu told her "so if this worth our while we'll stay.
"besides," Lisanna said, "we need to keep Wendy safe; she's known too much loss."
letting out a sigh, Natsu looked back then at her. "I guess so," he muttered "just hope this is worth our while," Natsu asked, "so where we are meeting our old friends," he asked.
"just over the shore here," Lisanna told him "then it should be a drive up to wherever the meeting spot is," Lisanna informed him "things will be looking up for us from here, Natsu, I know it."
Edo Wendy shifted in her sleep. "Natsu, Lisanna, are we there yet."
"not yet, kiddo," Natsu told her, "but don't worry, we're about to kick into overdrive," he shouted as the car let out a burst of speed Lisanna let out a scream. With terror as Natsu and Wendy shouted, 'oh yeah.'
Soon the car came to a stop. As Levy and Cana laughed, Lisanna fell out of the car before standing up and shouting at Natsu, who only laughed at her expense.
"Good to see you too are still alive," Cana said, "I thought my message wouldn't reach you," she joked.
"you should be careful how you send messages Cana," Lisanna told her, "we were the almost busted cause of you."
"so, what going on here," Natsu asked as Wendy raced past him to see what is today known as the wizard remnant hideout Wendy looked down in amazement.
"a place for us wizards to stick together, not a guild to be frank," Levy said, "but just somewhere safe," she informed them "work and everything will be available here too," she said as she started to walk down "and know that you're here, we can get started, I have a place for your magic mobile in the back too" as Levy left edo Wendy walked up to Natsu side as they both overlooked the work being made.
"Natsu," edo Wendy asked, "are we not going to fight back anymore" for as long as she knew her, Natsu and Lisanna had been striking at the kingdom at any chance they got helping people where ever they went, so this struck her as odd "we're not going to help people, anyone, anymore."
Natsu let out a sigh as he looked at her before smiling "we still are, Wendy," he said, "but right now, we need to regroup, rest," he said, "I just think that these people are tired of seeing their friends die."
"I guess," Wendy said, looking to the side. "I mean, we can do it right," she asked.
"Of course, we can, kiddo," Natsu told her.
"oh no," a voice called. They looked back to see Warren running up to the pair "the royal army," he said between breaths, "the fairy hunter is on her way."
"what," Natsu asked
"They found us," someone asked.
"This is bad," another called out.
"Stay calm," Lisanna shouted. "Levy are we ready to go," she asked.
"I need time," Levy shouted.
"then we'll buy you time," Wendy told her, "right Natsu-" before she could finish, Wendy felt something strike her neck before she blanked out. Seeing this, Lisanna was shocked to find that Natsu had caught her.
"what the hell, Natsu" Lisanna screamed.
"get her inside, and the second your ready, go," Natsu told her.
"as if," Lisanna told her. "you think I'm going to leave you" Lisanna met his gaze. "I'm not losing you too."
"I'll find you, I promise," he said as he handed Wendy off to someone "just go" as they ran, he took one look at Lisanna "take care of her," he whispered as he got in his car and drove to meet the royal army seeing them Natsu came to a stop "before revving his engines" he hoped out the car glaring at the one they called the fairy hunter
"you must be Natsu Dragion," she said with a small sinister smile "looks like I get to clip another fairy's wings," she said
"as if," Natsu said as the two got ready for a fight, "your reign of terror ends here, fairy hunter."
back in the hideout, Levy had finished. "All alright, I'm done," Levy shouted, "where's Natsu," she asked,
"he told us to go," Lisanna said
"but" when she saw Lisanna's face, the tears in her eyes, she just nodded "okay," she then started the machine which took her and the others. Natsu, who is still trying to fight off Erza nightwalker, looked back as he saw his friends escape. He smiled as he knew that his family was safe
hours later; Wendy came to she was on the pub floor. She looked around. Everyone looked so somber "where" she looked around again, "what happened," she asked, "where's Natsu."
Lisanna couldn't even look her in the eye "Wendy," she said, "we're waiting for him to come back," she explained, "he went to fight the royal army."
"What!" edo Wendy couldn't believe what she heard "you just left him" she screamed, "how could you, I thought" she looked away. "I'm going back," she screamed as she ran towards the door."
"Wendy wait," Lisanna cried, but before she could stop her, she was already out the door Lisanna stopped; her breath was short, "no."
Wendy had followed the trail back to where it began. It didn't take her too long to get here, but she made it "come on," she whispered as she saw Erza nightwalker take off her pet monster leaving the area "good," Wendy ran out looking for Natsu
"Natsu," edo Wendy whispered, "where are you" she called again; her eye caught something, and to her shock, she saw Natsu lying face down on the ground thunder sounded from behind her as she slowly approached. His body was covered in bruises and blood as he lay unresponsive.

"Natsu," edo Wendy muttered as she approached him. rain was now falling from the sky "come on, wake up," she asked again as tears slowly started to fill her eyes, mixing in with the rain as she fell to her knees "please, this isn't funny," she choked out as she tried to check for a pulse
"No," she whispered, "this can't be this has to be a bad dream," Wendy muttered
"No!" her scream echoed through the forest as thunder sounded across the sky
a few days later, edo Wendy had driven back to the pub; Lisanna came rushing out expecting to see Natsu, who would bring Wendy back with her, only to see Wendy hope out the driver's side
"Wendy," Lisanna asked only for her to through her Natsu badge, which was covered in blood; looking between this and her tears stained face, she slowly came to realize what happened "please tell me he's with you
Wendy said nothing before hoping in the magic mobile and driving off, leaving Lisanna there as Cana came and hugged her from behind
End Flashback
as the memory faded edo, Wendy wiped her tears. "So I won't give up here," she whispered, "I can't give up because it would mean Natsu gave his life for nothing."
Happy let out a sigh as he swept the roof. "I'm grateful for the old man letting us stay here, but does he have to work like a dog" Happy said under his breath.
"less talking, more sweeping," Lucky shouted to him
"Aye, sir," Happy panicked "how did he hear me up here" he questioned as his mind shifted back to Natsu "come on, your friends are in trouble," Happy muttered, "and they need you" before long, Happy had slipped and almost fell off the roof
"keep getting distracted, and you'll scrub the toilet," Lucky shouted at him
"Aye, sir," Happy screamed
[##Carla Confession##]
Carla frowned as she looked at her tea behind her Marl was busy knitting together a sweater "you haven't cracked a smile since you got here," she inquired, "why not? I'm sure you'd brighten up the whole room."
"I guess I'm not in a smiling mood," Carla told her
"I see," Marl told her " things will get better," she told her
"you think so," Carla asked
outside, Happy and Lucky had started cutting firewood. "I did," Happy said as he just finished one stack
"don't be too proud of yourself," Lucky called out as Happy saw he had already done half of the logs
"Alright then," Happy said, his competitive spirit ignited by the challenge "you won't beat me," he said as he started chopping up the logs left and right
"down to the last one," Happy said
"me too," as they tried to cut the log. All their bodies stung with pain as they both collapsed, before laughing at each other, "I think that enough logs for the day," he said
"man," Happy moaned. "I'm tired and smell like a three-day-old Salmon."
"then take a bath," Lucky shouted, scaring Happy.
Carla was still silent as her memories with Wendy flooded through her mind.
"You and I are friends, right.'
'hey, Carla.'
"I betrayed her," Carla muttered.
"I take it you two aren't from here," Marl asked, coming up to the two. "I take it," she said, "you're from earth land."
"Aye," Happy answered, "that's where I meet my best friend."
"and I too," Carla said
"but now there being held captive in the royal city," Happy said
"and you plan to save them," Marl asked.

"yes," Carla said, "that's why we're fallen; caring about humans seems unheard of around here."
"I don't think it strange," Marl told them. "It doesn't matter if your friends are a human or an exceed. Because, even though we look different, our feelings toward each other are the same," she said, smiling
"I'm afraid I don't follow," Carla asked.
"what I'm trying to say is, love is the same no matter who you are." Marl smiled
Carla tried to force a smile, but she couldn't the words of Nabby and Nichiya coming back to her. "I wish that were true," she said, looking down, "but no matter what I say, I don't know if these words are mine or someone else's plan."
"they are your words Carla" Happy told her, "you're too strong to let someone else control you."
"now I know you may feel like you lost your heart," Marl told her, "but I think you found it long ago," she told them as she looked to the sky "all you have to do is embrace it."
hearing this, Carla found a smile escape her. "I must say," Carla spoke, "you surprise me, Marl," Carla told her, "all the exceed we've met see themselves as celestial beings, and their queen divine."
"ah, yes," Marl said, a sad look forming in her eye. "I once thought that way, but then our beloved queen took our children from us," she said d "one hundred children still in their eggs," Marl told them, "the queen had chosen them to eliminate the dragon slayer after that everything changed. are queen wasn't a god, and we certainly weren't angels, just parents," Marl finished as Happy and Carla looked at each other "I know my husband may seem opinionated, but he feels the same"
"woman," Lucy shouted from inside the house, "how long do you plan on yapping to these kids" he shouted, coming outside as Marl smiled at him "and how long do they plan to stay here? I want you out," he shouted, "hurry up and grow a pair."
"dear," Marl said, trying to calm him down, "this is too sudden."

"no, he's right," Happy said "we can't lounge around anymore; our friends need us," Happy said, looking at Carla "we need to do everything we can to make sure they get home."
"Gah," Lucky said, looking away, "you finally get it," he said, "scary cats can't do nothing; kids these days need everything spelled out for them."
learning this, Happy smiled before he and Carla left the house, "thanks, miss, thanks, mister," Happy said, "we'll never forget you."
"Gah, don't come back, ya brats," Lucky shouted.
"take care of yourself, ya hear," Marl shouted
Happy and Carla now knew what to do "hey, Carla," Happy said as they ran off, "I don't know about you, but I feel like we were destined to meet those two."
"I agree," Carla told him.
"When we first came to edolas, I felt lost, like I didn't know who I was anymore," Happy said. Everything that's been going on was clear now, "I can feel it in my heart."
"yes," Carla said as the pair jumped off the cliff that had stopped them hours before, "but now the path is all too clear."
"We can't let our past hold us back," Happy said, "we need to move forward and protect our friends."
'Happy and I are exceed, the only race in edolas born with magic power coursing through our veins; the only reason we couldn't use our magic before is cause we lost sight of who we were,' Carla said to herself as she and Happy's wings once again sprouted from there back a pink and blue glow flowing from them 'but now the path is all too clear, being exceeds don't define us, our hearts are telling us where to go, and our wings will take us there.'
behind them, Lucky and Marl looked on as tears began to form in their eyes. "Gah, boy, can fly after all," he said
"the way he does reminds me of you, Lucky," Marl told him.
"lazy bum," Lucky said, trying and failing to hold back the tears as they both thought of the day the Queen took their egg from them, "he ain't nothing like me."
"Whatever you say, dear," Marl told him, tears flowing freely from her face, "and he found such a wonderful girlfriend."
"it's a hundred years too early to be bringing a girl home; ya hear," Lucky shouted at them even though they were out of earshot.
"he's grown into a fine boy, who cares deeply for his friends," Marl said, wiping her tears, "don't you think, dear."
"Aye"

I hope this chapter's flashback wasn't too out of nowhere; it felt appropriate since nothing else was going on in this chapter, and it had many extensions in the actual anime anyway. so, as all ways, R&R, leave a comment, and until next time
