Happy: we finally get to return home

Lucy: but we had to say goodbye to new friends

Natsu: they'll always be with us in our heats

Lucy: I see someone's sentimental

Natsu: shut up

On earth land on the outskirts of magnolia, a portal opens in the sky as Natsu. The others fell to the ground letting out groans of pain as they all got up and looked around "hey, we made it back" everyone looked to the side, finally seeing their home again, "and everything's back to normal."

"wait," Erza told him, "let's not celebrate yet" she looked around "we need to be sure that everyone's okay."

"don't worry," a voice called. Everyone looked up, and much to their surprise, they saw a whole group of exceeding flying around" we got here a while ago, so we went and checked on them for you," they told them "man, earth land is awesome" another exceed shouted "there so much magic power here."

"what!" Carla shouted, coming out of her shock, "what are they doing here," she screamed, "the exceeds don't belong in earth land."

Natsu and Lisanna

"The exceed are dangerous," Carla shouted, "we can't allow them to stay here."

"be nice," Happy said to her.

"Now," Wendy said, trying to calm her friend down. Happy had come over and placed a paw on her "they here homeland got destroyed, they have nowhere else to go."

"we're sorry for throwing rocks at you, lady," one of the exceed told her.

"Please forgive us; we have nowhere else to go."

"my problem isn't with you kids," Carla told them "it's with her!" she pointed to Shagotte, who had a look of sorrow on her face "she sent me to earth land on a mission to kill the dragon slayers, to kill my friends."

"it's true," Lucky shouted, coming out of nowhere "six years ago, the queen took all our eggs," he screamed as Marl tried to calm him down as other citizens looked at Shagotte "it's all true, ya hear."

"Hey, mister," Happy called.

"I can assure you," one of the advisors told them, "queen Shagotte had a most honorable reason," he told them "it was around six years ago," he said, " I remember the moment visibly."

Flashback

random images of edolas destruction flashed through the queen's mind as she opened her eyes in a panic "extailia will fall," one of the advisors asked "then we have to protect ourselves," he said, "but who would do such a thing."

"isn't it obvious" another spoke, "it has to be the humans" 'now we know that it was edolas' loss of magic power that caused the island's destruction,' letting out a sigh, the advisor looked at the queen. "I hate to say it, but we may be looking at a full-blown war soon."

"even so, we must take measures to protect our people," Shagotte said "we don't have the strength to win a war with the humans," she looked down, "we have no choice, save the children."

End Flashback

"Save them," Lucky asked, confused.

"wait," Happy asked, "that's a different story than you told us," he looked at the elders "you aren't lying to us, are you."

"I assure you we aren't, young man," the elder said, "We made our plan in secret; no exceed in extailia at the time knew of this."

"We're doing this for your protection; these monsters, the dragon slayers, must be stopped, so please, I beg for your understanding in this difficult time."

"We feel awful for making the queen lie," another Elder said, "but we couldn't go public with the knowledge, or it would have caused a mass panic" he frowned as he looked at the three dragon slayer among them. "I assure you we have no ill will to your kind; we didn't even believe they existed till now."

"no, it's okay," Wendy told them, "you just needed something to help execute your plan."

"if you told people, it would have caused mass panic," Lucy said, "We understand."

[##Carla's confession##]

"We used the anima to enact our plan," Shagotte said, finally speaking up, "but something unexpected happened with the eggs" she looked at Carla "you, Carla, we didn't expect you to have the same prophetic power that I do," she revealed shocking Carla and Happy "of the one hundred exceed children, only you had this gift" Carla was frozen as memories flooded her mind.

'We must destroy the dragon slayers'

'we're doing this for the good of our kingdom.'

'we will lose magic power forever.'

'This is our mission.'

"then that means," Happy asked.

"yes," Shagotte said, "neither of you was given a mission," she explained " I expect since coming up with one was Carla's way of making sense of all the confusion."

"so, all that from before was," Carla stopped as all the actions she took that led to them getting captured "it was me," she asked, looking down.

"yes," Nadi told her, "at the time, we thought it best to hide to truth from you," he explained, "so we thought it best not to tell you the truth and make you believe we were controlling you."

"it's a choice we now deeply regret," Nichiya told her, "meow, we only to did it to hide the queen's illustriousness."

"now you see," Shagotte told her, "the show of false bravado brought not only you but all the family's pain when I took their eggs" she smiled "that is why I handed the sword to you; this is not the exceed kinds burden to bear," she told her " only mine."

Nichiya let out a loud cry, "your majesty, this is not your fault," he told her, "no one is to blame for this."

"he's right, "Salberay said "if anything, it was our fault too," he smiled, "but know we have a chance to make things right; let's go and find all those exceed eggs," the large group exceeds started to fly around.

"Yeah," they all cried.

"We have a new purpose."

"they're an optimistic bunch, aren't they" Natsu laughed as queen Shagotte started to cry.

"thank you, everyone," she said, smiling.

"fine," Carla said, looking away. "I forgive you," she said casually, "but tell me, how was that only I had the same power you do" Shagotte looked away alight, blush forming on her cheeks away as the other elders all distracted themselves with the weather, looking almost as embarrassed "why are you avoiding my question."

"Hey, can I ask you something," Happy asked Lucky, "is it just me, or do queen Shagotte and Carla look a lot alike."

"they do," Lucky asked, "guess I never noticed."

"Aye, sir," Happy told him, "plus they do a lot of the same things too," he said, never mind the fact that he and Lucky had been copying each other's movements ever since they started talking, which made Marl laugh as Wendy just shook her head behind her Natsu also caught was going on and just chuckled to himself.

"I guess everything worked out," he said as he stood next to Nadi, starting to do his standard fist pump.

"Hey, you caught his arm-waving thing," Gray told him.

"so, have you, Gray," Lucy told him

behind them, Nichiya had started to smell Erza, which made her immediately react by punching him, thinking it was Ichiya. "I'm sorry she screamed; you just reminded me of a very forward acquaintance."

"I think it would be best for us to take up residence nearby," Shagotte told Carla as she huffed

"Yeah, then we'll be able to visit," Wendy told her.

"what are you so chipper about," Carla asked.

"oh, Carla," Shagotte then brought her in for a hug "now we can see each other whenever we want," she said as Carla agave into the hug.

"why" she questioned "she's so warm," she said as they separated.

"feel free to visit us whenever you like," Marl told Happy, "we'll promise not to be too far."

"you don't have to," Lucky shouted.

"oh, trust me, I will," Happy told them. "I don't know why, but I like the way the two of you smell," he told them, which almost made both cry before Lucky started shouting at Happy again, telling him to call first

the two groups began to part ways as the exceed started to fly off, saying their goodbyes as Shagotte smiled at Carla one last time Before flying off. "Gah," Lucky screamed, "I don't see why you just didn't tell Carla you're her daughter."

"until we find all the children we sent of one hundred children we sent off," she told him. "I'm not fit to call myself a mother," she smiled as she looked at him. "I could ask you the same"

"Gah, I don't need a son that blue," was Lucky response though anyone could see he was lying through his teeth.

"but now we can see him whenever we want," Marl told him, making Lucky smile.

"gotta say I didn't know you sent your daughter away too," Lucky admitted

"I am simply a woman who was named a queen," she told him, "like you, I know how much children mean to you."

"ain't that the truth."

"Alright," Natsu said next to him. Erza Gray and Lucy all stood in a circle doing Nadi's first pump, which had spread like a virus, "so what to say? We head back home and get a look around," he asked.

"Okay," Lucy said, "but what will we tell them."

"nothing," Gray told her, "they have no idea what happened, so we need to worry them."

"But what about Mystogen," Erza asked.

"I'll tell Mavis and see where we go from there," Natsu told her, "shame we won't be able to give him a proper sendoff."

"Hey, uh, what's with your arms," Wendy asked.

"We got a problem," Gajeel said suddenly.

"it's not a problem; it's pretty fun," Natsu told him.

"Yeah, come on, do it," Wendy said. She, too, was now doing it.

"I'm not talking about your fist pumping ya morons," Gajeel shouted "where's my cat," Gajeel told them, "don't tell me they took Lily with them," he shouted...

"who's Lily?" Lucy asked

"you remember that big brawny exceed that helped us," Gray told her, "yeah, that's him."

"oh"

"are you blind," Lily told them. "I right here," he said, appearing but was now a tiny, bipedal black cat with round ears. His facial features are retained, albeit in a very deformed manner.

"so tiny," the group said in shock.

"it appears Earthland didn't suit my previous form," he said

"that doesn't bother you," Happy asked.

"Normally it would," Lily said "however, I'll have to learn to live with it," he told them. He smiled as he looked toward Gajeel. "I have no place with the exceed while they may be the people; I haven't been among them in some time," Lily explained, "so I was wondering, Gajeel, do your offer still stand."

Gajeel looked to Natsu, who smiled at him "you know what Magnolia's all about, don't you."

"oh, welcome to the family, buddy," Gajeel told him, tears coming from his eyes, shocking the others.

"wow," Lucy muttered, " I guess now we can say all our dragon slayers have exceed now."

"alert the media," Gray said," I think we're overdoing it."

"so, I take it everything finally over," Erza asked, "the anima, edolas, even the war," she asked.

Natsu had since stopped listing; his eyes were focused on Kardia Cathedral as the edolas Lisanna's words flowed through his mind; a sense of peace washed over him. He let out a sigh as he smiled "no," he told her, "just one more thing to do," he said as he started to walk off "come on, Happy," Erza made a move but was stopped by Lucy, who shook her head.

"it's time we said goodbye."

Flashback

a young Natsu is seen sitting on a cliff rain was flowing down his face as he felt it stop; he looked up to see Lisanna standing over him, a red umbrella was in her hand she looked at him with a giant smile, on her face "you okay, Natsu."

"Yeah, I'm fine," he told her.

"you're a bad liar," she told him, "you can tell me," she told him, smiling.

"I guess" I've been thinking about Igneel lately," Natsu told her. "I want to know why he left me. Did I do something wrong," he asked; tears started to form on his face as Lisanna dragged him into a hug shushing him,

"you did nothing wrong," she told Natsu. "I'm sure it was an accident, and Igneel is looking for you too."

Natsu wiped his tears away as they separated "you sure," he asked her; she could see the hop in her eyes as she smiled.

"Yeah, huh," she said as a smile formed on her face" Besides, no matter what, you'll always have me," she told him. "I promise, I'll always be there for you," she said, a light blush on her face, finally getting the smile she was working for

"yeah," Natsu said, "and you'll always have me to."

End flashback

Mira and Elfman stood over Lisanna's grave "come on, sis," Elfman told her, "let's get you out of the rain."

"give me a minute," She said; she then heard foot stop looking back, Natsu; her eyes widened as he slumped over to her. "Natsu!" she screamed as she ran up to him, completely ignoring the rain "what happened," she asked, only for him to bring her in for a hug. She could have sworn she saw tears.

"I'll explain later, sis," Natsu told her as he embraced her "just glad to hear your voice right now," he told her. "I never thought I'd be so glad to hear you shouting at me for getting this messed up."

Hearing this, Mira smiled. She then wrapped her arm around him. She couldn't tell why, but she could see that he had been through a lot. "I only do that because I care about you, ya big lovable dolt," she told him as the rain soon stopped. Elfman was now standing over them.

"ya know," he told them, "if ya'll get sick, don't expect me to be making soup," he joked.

"good to see you to the big guy," he patted him on the shoulder "don't ever change, man" he then looked at Lisanna's grave; it had the picture of the mark of mavis, which read a fallen child as Natsu smiled. Happy came and patted his leg, "it's nice," he whispered.

"mind telling me what brought this up," Mira asked; seeing the look of sorrow in his, Mira chose to drop it as she brought both in for a hug "take as long as you need, Natsu, she told him; we're right here."

"Aye"

"hey, Lisanna," Natsu started. "I just well came to see you again," he told her " Happy and I are doing okay" behind them, Erza Lucy, Gray, Gajeel, and Wendy had arrived; seeing what was going on, they chose to keep their distance. "I've made many good friends," he smiled as tears started to form. "Lucy, you'd like her. She reminds me of a lot of you sometimes. There are Erza and Wendy, both are like a sister to me, and with things that have happened, I guess I've grown an appreciation for them," he smiled "then there's Gray and Gajeel; both of them are pretty good fighters, I don't know if I'd win some of these fights if they hadn't been there to help me..."

Gray and Gajeel couldn't believe their ears. Natsu just admitted to being friends with them, no less saying they saved their skin Erza and Lucy just smiled as it felt Natsu was finally coming out of the shell he put around himself as Wendy smiled in understanding, washing over her the tears her edolas counterpart shed over Natsu leaving still fresh in her mind.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is," Natsu choked out, "we're going to be fine," he told her "these guys, along with Mira and Elfman," he laughed, "they're going to take care of me, and I can take care of them" he smiled "you can rest now," he said as Mira clutched his hand "we'll be okay" happy then placed a flower on Lisanna grave a small smile forming on his face.

"I miss you, Lisanna," he said," but Natsu's right, our new friends can take care of us," he said, "so you don't have to worry about it, we'll be fine; I've learned a lot about myself even found some friends who look like me," he told her "don't worry I'll continue to be Magnolia's bluebird of Happiness for you."

"come on," Elfman said, "let's get home."

"Aye," Happy said as they started to leave as Natsu left, he felt a presence; he looked back and saw what he thought was an illusion, but he could her Lisanna was watching him, and she was smiling; he smiled as he started to turn away

"Goodbye, Lisanna"

there's your emotional gut punch for the weak; I hope to tell me what you think. Okay, a little clarification. I like Lisanna, so no, I don't hate her. If any of you were thinking that I just wanted to add a tad bit more to the relationship of Natsu, Mira, and Elfman in this fic, and I felt that bringing her back in this would nullify or lesson some that character development anyway, tell me what you think,

and with that just one more chapter now, I know it's technically in the next arc, but let's be honest, it has more of an effect on this arc, so I'll explain everything else there
