Hey, fairy tail fans, and welcome back to the next chapter of a fairy tail re-told. Now we are into the Tenrou Island arc, and it will be going full swing. I hope you enjoy it.
Mavis Vermillion has made a special request. She has selected Six of the most powerful wizards in Magnolia to take part in a trial for the opportunity to fill in Mystogens place as one of the three children of Magnolia. tensions are high all across the land, so Mavis will need to do all she can to see that her home is safe
Lucy sighed as she walked alongside Cana. The two were traveling in silence as Lucy thought about what Cana had told her after finding her sitting alone in the snow "Cana," Lucy started.
"Yeah," she asked. Her eyes didn't leave the port where they were heading.
"I know I said I'd help you," Lucy started, "but are you sure this is the only way."
"It is Lucy," she said "doing this is the only way I can look him in the eyes again," she said, a hint of fear coming over her voice "it's the only way that I can truly mean something."
"Alright," Lucy said, "we'll give it our best shot," she said as they arrived at the port where they saw the other competitors besides Cana the only other one her that had the most on the lone was Elfman. He was Mira's younger brother, and he and Natsu were practically brothers next to him; much to Lucy's shock was Evergreen.
"Evergreen," Cana asked.
"What can I say" the woman replied. "Elfman asked for my help. So, who was I to tell him no."?
"Yeah," Elfman said, "thank you again."
"Oh Lucy," a voice called she turned to see Erza walking up to her behind her was a bit flustered Juvia, "I didn't know you were participating in this," she said as she walked up to her friend.
"Yeah," Lucy replied, "Cana asked me to."
"Well, you better give it your all," Gray said, next to Erza. behind came up Loke
"Wait, Loke," Lucy screamed. "Gray is that why you wanted to speak with him."
"Yeah," Loke admitted, "I owe Gray a favor for a while back, so I hope you don't mind," he said smiling, "and don't worry about your magic power; I used my power to cross the gate, so you shouldn't run out," he told her.
"I guess," Lucy said, "but you should have told me about this little arrangement when it first happened.
"Man, you guys are loud," Gajeel said, walking up to them. Behind him was Levy, who just smiled "so you're all the competition" he smiled. "I guess this won't be too bad" he smiled as he patted Levy on the head "we can do this, shrimp." Panther Lily smiled at the interaction
"I told you to stop calling me that," Levy argued behind her Mest and Wendy had arrived but said nothing as they went to the peer. Carla had a look of concern on her face, but it quickly faded.
"So, this is everyone," a voice called. Everyone turned to see Mavis, Natsu, and Mira Mavis gave off a smile as she looked around, taking note of everyone there. "I'm glad you all decided to come, but only one of you will earn the right to call themselves a child of Magnolia."
Tenrou Island
"Alright," Mavis said in a calm voice, "once we bored this ship, there is no going back" she smiled "however, a few parting words before we go," she looked around. "I want to thank you all for coming while only one of you will pass this trial. I want you all to know that your efforts and faith are not in vain; you are important to Magnolia, whether it be to its people or the city itself."
"Thank you," everyone there said
"Now, we depart" Mavis soon snapped her fingers, and a large ship appeared behind her, shocking almost everyone there.
"What," Lucy asked, "how did she do that."
"Illusion magic," Elfman told her.
"So, you're telling me she was able to hide an entire ship behind an Illusion," Gray asked.
"yep"
"Now, let us get ready to depart, " Mavis said as everyone started to board the ship. Leaving little room for discussion as they soon left the port city, " I hope you kids are ready," Mavis said onboard the vessel, "you are all here because you are S-class wizard potential. Still, the trials ahead will truly put your skills to the test
hours later. Most of the group had fallen to the huge amount of heat plaguing the ship "it's so hot," Lucy moaned. Happy was next to her in a similar state "wasn't it snowing the other day? I would love to turn into a popsicle, but Happy would eat me."
"I'll pass," Happy muttered.
"I know it's warm, Lu, but do you have to sit like that" Levy asked.
"Warm," Cana asked, shocked at the girl's statement as Wendy let out a soft groan in discomfort "it is freaking boiling out here; there's almost no wind here year-round."
Even Erza, who preferred to be in her armor, had taken it off. It had become so hot. "Juvia, are you okay," she asked the water woman because she was wearing her usual clothes "you might catch a heat stroke in that thing."
"Juvia will be fine," she said. "Juvia is a water woman, and my magic helps me stay cool." she smiled, "but even though," she looked at Gray, who had taken all his clothes off, "the sight of my beloved Gray might do the trick.
"Must be nice," Elfman said. He and Evergreen were sitting next to "I'm about to become a man steak over here."
"Would you mind going somewhere else and doing that" Evergreen started
"Hey Gajeel, you alright, man," Loke asked at Gajeel, who seemed to be uncomfortable
"I'm fine," he muttered as his face started to turn blue, and he covered his mouth
"You know," Juvia began, "Gajeey always walked to his Jobs," she began, "before now, Juvia don't think she's ever seen him be on a mode of transportation."
"No way," Loke said, sitting up, "don't tell me you get motion sickness."
"No, I don't," Gajeel shouted before turning over to the ship's side to puke up his breakfast then.
"Point that puke cannon somewhere else, man," Loke said, laughing
"So is Motion sickness common for people who use your type of magic," Erza asked as she turned to Natsu, who had requested Wendy to cast a Troia spell on him before they left, "cause you both to have that in common."
"Wait, that couldn't be it," Levy argued before Natsu could speak. "Wendy's uses a similar magic to Natsu and Gajeel, and she doesn't get motion sick."
"But they are older than her," Cana reason, "so it might be an age thing."
"Possibly," Natsu said, "guess we'll find out one day, won't we kid."
"I hope not," was all Wendy managed to mutter out. She rolled over to see Gajeel leaning over the ship's side "if it weren't so hot, I'd cast a spell on Gajeel, but that requires movement, and the heat won't let me."
"I told you all I'm fine," Gajeel shouted before leaning over the ship to vomit.
"Yep, that's motion sickness, alright," Mira joked "he has the face and everything." as everyone laughed, Mavis looked ahead, a familiar shape coming in the distance.
"Look alive, everyone," Mavis called as everyone sat up, even Lucy, who was still complaining about the heat as she saw in the distance an Island "we're almost there."
"What is it," Erza asked.
"Tenrou Island," Natsu told them. Mavis smiled as she stood, her hair blowing in the wind-up everyone walked to the side of the ship to get a look "it's weird looking."
"The entire Island," Mavis started, "is just one big tree," she smiled, "like all things have grown and adapted, turning the Island into the forest that you see today, but it is all one living organism."
"This place is Mavis' home," Natsu told them.
"Yep," Mavis confirmed, "it was here that I studied and learned many of the magic you've seen me use today."
"wow"
"You can feel the magic energy from here," Wendy muttered
"Yeah," Panther Lily muttered
"Now," Mavis said as she turned to face the group giving a smile, "let us begin with your next trial," she said
"Next," Cana asked
"Yes, you all passed the first one with flying colors" she looked around "each of you was able to find a partner, and in a way, it showed how connected you are with the people of magnolia, being one of the three is more than having power, it's about being connected and them having faith in you."
"And the faith to succeed," Mira added.
"Now, for the second part," Mavis began, "there is a grave on this Island that," Mavis stopped herself, "that belongs to an old friend; I will be waiting there," she said "there are several paths to take to reach me. However, each will include a test of their own, whether it be from one of my children, or even Gildarts" she smiled "one path will be safe from all harm and be able to advance, and another path will have two teams colliding" Mavis explained "should you at any point be bested by another team or Natsu Mira or Gildarts deem it so you will be disqualified from the trial" "those who pass those first trials will be given more clues to the puzzle."
"Wait, that's all," Levy asked.
"Yep," Mavis said, "as wizards, you should know" Mavis's kind face left as she adopted a sinister look, "nothing is ever as it seems." she then snapped her fingers again, causing her Natsu and Mira to vanish from sight shocking everyone again.
"don't tell me they were thought projections this entire time," Erza asked. "I haven't seen skill like that since Jellal."
"Mavis can connect and use the magic power on Tenrou Island," Elfman informed them "her magic is no doubt doubled since she's here, and not to mention how strong Natsu and Mira are when they are within range of her"
"Well, we better get started," Gajeel shouted as he turned "come on, Lily" he turned only to see his friend was gone, "what."
"Oh yeah, while I allowed them to come, Carla and Lily won't be allowed to help you with the trial, so they'll be waiting at camp" Mavis's voice rang through Gajeel's and Wendy's head "good luck."
"what" Gajeel screamed "then come on, shrimp" he grabbed Levy and jumped off the ship.
"Slow down, Gajeel," she screamed as they started swimming away
"Come on, Loke," Gray shouted, "{Ice make: floor}."
"Manley, dive" Elfman shouted as he and Evergreen started to leave the ship.
"Erza, can you keep up," Juvia asked
"Yes," Erza answered, "using my sea empress armor."
"We need to move, Cana," Lucy started, "or we will be last."
"Slow down, Mest and Wendy haven't" she turned to see that Mest and Wendy had vanished. "Oh shit," Cana muttered "we need to move now," she shouted as she, along with Lucy, jumped off the ship, hoping to catch up as the race to the Island began.
Lucy and Cana soon found themselves in the tunnels in nearly every cave, but one had a magic barrier. "I can't believe it," Cana muttered, "we're dead last."
"Come on, chin up," Lucy said "we might be last, but I feel our luck is about to start looking up for us, right" she gave a wink as she walked into the cave.
"Yes, I guess you're right," she said as they walked. Tons of light shined around them "wow," Cana muttered, even the caves here seem to be filled with magic power, "and since it's hot year-round, the spirit flies multiply like rabbits."
"Well, looks like someone finally decided to show up," a voice boomed, making the two girls make a jump in terror, "and just when I finally got comfortable."
"Aye," another voice came out.
"Oh no," Lucy muttered "our luck sucks," she screamed as Natsu emerged from the shadows. Happy right behind him
"Why so surprised," Natsu asked, looking at the girl's shocked faces "you should both know " an evil grin grew on his face as he looked at looked at them, "we dragons prefer caves."
"Okay, Lucy," Cana asked, "on a scale of one to ten, how screwed are we"
"I'd say eleven," Lucy muttered, "give her take a hundred."
Elsewhere on the Island team, Erza ran through a dense forest. "Umm, Erza," Juvia suddenly asked, "I wondered why you asked me to be your partner."
"Why," Erza asked, "well, I figured it would be a chance for us to get to know each other."
"Well, I'm flattered," Juvia said. "I too would like to know you better" Juvia looked around "you must be nervous."
"I am," Erza said, coming to a stop, "if I'm honest, I would have never guessed I would be asked to do such a thing."
"What do you mean," Juvia asked

"time and time again, Natsu has put his life on the line for the sake of others," she told her, "even people who didn't deserve his trust" she looked down, "and Mira, people go to her for everything she's a guiding light that they all have in their lives." she started to walk away as Juvia stayed close to her "they've grown up in Magnolia, and they're a part of it, how could someone like me an outsider ever hope to live up to something like that."
"Juvia thinks Erza thinks too little of herself," Juvia said, cutting herself off "when Phantom attacked, you rushed to stop the Jupiter Cannon from destroying you and your friends." Juvia came to a stop " when the thunder legion came to Magnolia. You took out more than half of the thunder palace" Juvia gave her a smile "what Juvia is trying to say is that I trust you, and I'm sure a ton of people in Magnolia trust you."
Erza felt a smile come onto her face as she kept moving forward, but before she could say anything, another voice spoke, "and not to mention Natsu praised you from here and back when he recommended you for this."
"who's there," Erza asked. A group of spirit flies came by, reveling Gildarts. He smiled at the two women.
"I don't think I've heard that kid praise, anyone, as much as he did you and that Gray fellow," Gildarts gave a hearty laugh, "so I hope you don't mind that I see if you can live up to the kid's expectations."
"Gildarts," Erza said, backing up, "you were Natsu's predecessor."
"Yep," he answered, "but don't let that stop you. I need you to come at me with everything you got"
"Come on, Evergreen," Elfman shouted. In another part of the cave, they came out to the beach as they ran, "we need to try our best here, win or lose; we can't give up."
"Alright, I'm coming," Evergreen shouted, "by trying to slow down."
"Sorry," he said, "but I have to give this my all for my sister."
"Alright, you told me that already" Evergreen muttered, "and I'll do my best to help you."
"Thanks," Elfman said, smiling "see, I knew I chose right when I asked you to be my partner." he smiled, "with you, I can't lose," he smiled.
"I'm sure Mira would be proud of you even if you didn't make it," Evergreen added.

Elfman stopped. "I'm not talking about Mira," he said, looking ahead. Evergreen stopped hearing this. "I'm doing this for Lisanna," he said, shocking her " I guess you could say by doing this, I can make it up to her," he smiled, "and truly become a man" he looked at her, " I know you probably don't understand."
"I do," Evergreen said, "not in the way you're talking about, but I can understand," she smiled at him, "so I promise I'll do all that I can to help you reach that point."
Elfman looked at her and smiled "thank you."
"Aww, how sweet," a voice called, catching the two's attention. "I must say, Elfman, you have grown," the voice continued as they looked around.
"That voice," Elfman muttered.
"Hello, baby brother," Mira called as she effortlessly landed in front of them, a big smile on her face. "I must say I'm surprised that you ended on this route," she gave him a grin, "but know that just cause you're my little brother doesn't mean I'm going easy on you."
"Mira," Elfman asked a hint of fear in his voice.
"She annihilated freed when they fought," Evergreen muttered, "there's no way we can win."
"It doesn't matter," Elfman started "we can win this if we work together."
"that's the spirit," Mira muttered "now," Mira let some of her magic energy slip out as her purple magic energy surrounded her. Elfman and Evergreen were shocked at this as they backed up.
"Come play with a she-devil."
"we're screwed," Elfman muttered.
"Royally," Evergreen added.
Mavis sat in front of a structure in another place on the Island. A bright light shined in the middle as the women meditated next to it, feeling a magic presence over the Island. She smiled " I see, so the children have made their move" she looked to the sky. "I wonder what lessons they intend to teach." she smiled "every wizard here will have at least one encounter with those three, so even if they fail at the task before them, they will have learned from it."
"Natsu recommended Erza, and to my surprise, Gray," Mavis said aloud "on the other hand, Mira had recommended Levy. and Both agreed on Cana" she looked to the sky, "and since he was Mystogens Dispile Mest was also placed in the running" Mavis searched her memory for the boy. Still, she could barely find anything "just proves that Mystogen kept more from us than we thought" the light in front of her shined again, "Yes, it is odd." she sighed, giving it more thought but ignoring the feeling.
"The day will be a long one indeed" she looked back at the light giving a smile "however, I feel that everyone here will take something from it."

The trial begins in earnest as multiple wizards try their hand at becoming a child of Magnolia. It will be a long battle, and only one will emerge from the trial's victories.
