The next morning, 3 am to be exact, Luz woke up with a yawn and found herself in her sister's embrace.
'Must've been another nightmare.' Luz thought, slipping out of Skara's arms.
She pulled the blanket over Skara and tucked her in, completing it with a kiss to the cheek.
"Good night, Skara."
Luz gently exited her room and shut the door silently, heading down to her workshop to continue her suit of invisibility armor. Her siblings were right, she always rose at 3am to work in her forge. Luz got out her sketchpad and started to work on the designs for the chest piece.
She had to make in strong but not discomforting that it would impede her movement or strangle her like a girdle.
'I still don't know why most girls wear those, they basically kill you slowly.' Luz thought.
She made several designs, and by the time it was eight in the morning, and she had a dozen papers thrown around.
"Why is it so hard to create a lightweight armor that doesn't remove the protection?" Luz said, "Maybe I need a break."
Picking up and stacking all of the papers together, Luz put them in a desk before heading up for breakfast. Everyone had to be up by now and breakfast was on the way. Luz walked up the stairs, making sure to lock her workshop so the twins don't sneak in again.
"Good morning." Luz said.
"Oh mija! Good morning!" Camilia said to her youngest daughter.
"How are you this fine morning, Darling?" Odalia asked.
"I'm... good. I'm sorry about making a scene at diner."
"Darling, it's fine. You don't have to be sorry." Odalia said as she went to hug Luz.
"If anything, I should be sorry, sport. I just blurted without thinking and you ended up getting hurt." Eda said as she put her mug down.
"I just feel useless sometimes because I can't do all the cool stuff you guys can."
"And you think you can't do other cool things? That workshop of yours is proof enough." Raine said with a smile. "I don't think anyone else in the isles could make magic weapons like you."
"Yeah, but who needs weapons when they have magic."
Seeing her about to slip back into the bad feeling, Eda did something to help take her mind off it….. by flicking Luz in the forehead.
"Ow!" Luz let out as she put a hand to her head.
"Keep this in mind, Kid, without hands, witches can't do magic." Eda said.
"And?" Luz asked.
"Your weapons give you an advantage since people will underestimate them, not knowing they pack a big magic surprise." Eda said to Luz.
"Just remember that, Kid." Eda said, "You never know when it might save your life."
"Especially with that invisibility armor you're making." Odalia added.
"Thanks, but I can't seem to get the design right." Luz said.
"Well, an intelligent girl like you shouldn't have a problem. You'll figure it out sooner or later." Camila said.
Luz smiled.
"Thanks, Mami." Luz said before her stomach growled loudly, making her blush. "On a new subject, what's for breakfast and when will it be ready?"
"I'm making your favorite." Raine said, "Homemade waffles with BlackBerry syrup."
"You make the best waffles, Nini." Luz said.
"That I do. Now why don't you go wake up your brother and sisters for breakfast?" Raine asked her.
"Sure, Nini." Luz said as she rushed off, the faster she did this then the sooner she could have her favorite breakfast.
If there was one thing her siblings hated, it was how Luz would wake them up. In Emira's room, Luz set up ten alarm clocks, that all went off at the same time. In Edric's room, she blasted an air horn next to his bed. In her own room, she dumped cold water on Skara. In Amity's room, she lightly shook her up. As expected, Emira screamed awake as she felt her ears being overwhelmed, Edric fell out of his bed in a fright, Skara jolted up and held her now dripping wet self, and Amity gently fluttered her eyes open. Luz was satisfied with her work and went back to the kitchen.
"Done."
"Yes, we heard." Eda said with a smirk as Amity was the first one to come down.
"Morning everyone." She said while stretching.
"Good morning, darling." Odalia said.
Amity hugged her mother before she and Luz went to set the table, passing their scowling siblings. Emira's hair was frazzled up, Edric had a bruise on his cheek, and Skara was dripping water on the floor.
"Good morning, dear siblings." Luz said with shut eyes and a tiny smile.
"I hate you." Skara said, "I hate you with a burning passion."
"I love you too, big little sister." Luz said to the shorter witch, patting her head.
"You're luckily I can't bust out my harp with Nini close by." Skara mumbled.
"I would fight you if I didn't value my bones." Emira said.
Luz was strong due to weapon making and is fast to avoiding danger as a kid, so it has made it almost impossible for anyone in the family, even Eda, to take her in a fight. It was like an unfair exchange in a way; Luz gets no magic bile sack but gets a body that become as strong as stone and as fast as lightning! She was already the physically strongest person in her family! Skara and Amity remember a time they were getting bullied, Luz broke three of his bones before they even blinked, they often wondered where Luz learned to fight.
'If she's that strong and fast, why does she spiral down when reminded she has no magic?' That's what they all thought after realizing Luz was so strong and fast.
A question for another day as the siblings followed the youngest to help set up the table.
"You may want to dry off first, Skara." Edric said to her.
Skara glared at him.
"Do you want a matching bruise on the other cheek?" Skara asked with her fist up.
"Nope but still, a quick blow dry won't hurt." Edric said as he drew a spell circle, blasting wind at Skara.
Skara's hair got all fizzled.
"No need to thank m-" Edric was soon punch in the stomach as Skara walked past him.
"I wasn't." Skara said, leaving Edric to groan and hold his stomach.
"Children, you can kill each other later, it's time for breakfast." Odalia said.
"Okay, mom." The children said as they quickly set up the table and sat in their spots.
"So, what everyone's plan today?" Eda asked.
After everyone was seated at the table and eating Raine's delicious waffles, the kids thought about what they could do on the first day of the weekend.
'Maybe I could take a break break figuring out my armor and train with one of my weapons. Maybe a sword or a war hammer.' Luz thought.
While Luz was thinking, the others were going over their plans.
"I have a recital to practice for." Skara said.
"Emira and I have to go... meet some friends." Edric said.
"I... don't actually have anything for once." Amity said.
"Really? Not even with your friends? What were their names again?" Eda asked with a finger tapping her chin.
"Boscha, Skara, Amelia, Cat, Willow, and Gus." Camilia said.
"I'm sure she would love to hang out with Willow." Luz mumbled, only Amity heard.
"W-w-well, I could call some of them." Amity said, "I'm sure they wouldn't mind. Want to come, Kitten? I'm sure you and Boscha can talk about the upcoming potion assignment."
Luz glared at her, knowing that their parents don't know about her and Boscha dating.
"I think that's a wonderful idea." Raine said.
"It would be nice to see them again after so long. And meet this Boscha girl." Camilia said as she looked to Luz.
"Mami, you've met Boscha, she's my partner in the Potion Tack, remember? You met her like three years ago?"
"I did?" Camilia asked before she thought for a moment, remembering that she DID meet Boscha before. "Oh yes! She is a triclops with pink skin and hair, isn't she?"
"Triclops? Pink skin?" Odalia said, feeling like she knew someone like that. "Her last name wouldn't happen to be "Triplet" would it, Kitten?"
"Um, yes. Why?" Luz asked.
"I work with her parents, they seem like nice people." Odalia said, "If she's anything like her parents, then she'll be a great potioner."
'She's already a great girlfriend.' Luz thought with a small smirk
"Yeah, I'll call Boscha and Willow, see if they want to hang out." Amity said.
'Wait what?! No!' Luz thought with a look of shock.
"That's a great idea! I'll be able to say hi to Boscha while I practice." Skara said but her smile held smugness.
All the siblings knew Luz and Boscha were together, and this would be the perfect moment to repay Luz by forcing her to introduce her to their parents.
