Luz went back to the basement, she wanted to work a little.
'Guess this is a chance to remake that axe' Luz thought as she went to the forge, grabbing an axe mold.
It was also a chance to take her mind off the dark part of her childhood. After training with Lilith in self-defense, Luz had used it in the wrong way by beating up anyone that made fun of her for being magicless. From any magic school, any grade. It was truly a horrible time in her life that she never wanted to relive. And it all came crashing down when a Glandus student pushed Luz too far and she went on a blind, rage fueled rampage to try and kill her. It took all of her friends, siblings, and even her girlfriend, Boscha, to stop her but they all got hurt in the process.
"What was their names again? Bria or something like that?"
Luz shook her head, moving in to creating a new axe and forgetting whoever she tried to kill in the past. I didn't matter if she remembered them, she would probably never see them again anyway.
"Okay, I should have the design in here somewhere."
Since Luz has already made the axe, it should take less time to recreate it or make a new one of a similar element. Luz found the design of the axe and began working on it for the rest of the day. By the end of the day, Luz had it halfway done. The handle was the easiest part of making any weapon but it took time to get it just right so it can be strong and fluid in motion.
"Alright let's see if this works."
Moving away from the work bench, Luz pressed the glyph on the hand and saw the ice magic flowing through the handle smoothly.
"Alright, it's working well." Luz said.
Spinning it in her hand, Luz set the staff on the side and headed upstairs for dinner.
"Hello, Mija, how much of a check am I writing for the damage Amity caused?" Camila asked.
"Actually, it wasn't that bad. She only broke my axe, I can easily make a new one." Luz said to her mother.
"Really? Well that's a relief." Camilia said with a smile.
"But there IS a material I'm gonna need for my invisibility suit. It was thanks to Amity, that I would the metal I was using was the problem itself." Luz said.
"Well, we can discus that after dinner."
Luz felt her stomach growl, having built up a hunger again after working so hard again in her forge.
"What are we having?"
"Fire Chicken with rice and sweet rolls." Camilia said to Luz.
"Fire chicken?" Luz asked with an interest.
"It's not too spicy, I made sure your mom didn't add to much spice." Camilia said to her.
"Aw." Luz said.
One thing she inherited, that none of the others seemed to, was Camila's iron stomach. Luz and Camila walked into the kitchen.
"Luz, glad to see you, think you can help me set the table" Raine asked.
"Sure, Nini." Luz said as she moved to help her parent set the table.
"You're a very good kid, Luz." Raine said, "Don't tell the others, but I don't worry about your future, I know you will do amazing things."
"Thanks." Luz said with a small smile.
Maybe her magic weapons would do great things someday. Raine walked over and hugged Luz. Luz hugged them back as everyone came down for dinner, ready and hungry. Apparently, helping a family member through an emotional time would work up an appetite.
"I hope you're all hungry, because we made sure to prepare this perfectly." Odalia said.
Odalia brought the fire chicken to the table while Eda brought in the rice and sweet rolls.
"I still say I could've prepared it better." Eda mumbled.
"You always put too much fire salt in it, Edalyn." Odalia argued.
"Loves, sit down." Camila said.
The two quickly listened. She was still the pack leader of this family, and she could end a fight or argument with just a word.
"Y-y-yes dear." Odalia said.
"Sure, Cam." Eda said.
Camila smiled as she took her place at the end of the table, while the kids took their places as well. Their mami really was SCARY when she wanted to be, almost makes them wonder if they have that same air of authority in them.
"So, how was everyone's day?" Camila asked.
The kids rolled their eyes, that was how their parents started every dinner.
"It was fine, mom." Edric and Emira said at the same time.
"Not much really happened." Skara said.
"Amity, Luz, what about your day?"
The two sisters looked to each other, giving small yet guilty smiles from what happened.
"We got into a small argument, but we worked it out." Amity said as she nodded.
"Well, that's nice." Odalia said, "You two are best friends, it would be horrible if you stopped speaking to each other."
"Just like Aunt Lily and Mom when they were younger, right?" Skara asked, looking to Eda.
"Yes, but we don't talk about that. What matters is that we're good now. And you two are good too." Eda said as she pointed to Luz and Amity.
"Okay, settle down and eat." Camila said.
"Yeah, I worked hard to bake this chicken." Eda said pointing to the chicken.
"Bake it? Not season it?" Edric asked her.
"WE took care of that." Odalia said, gesturing to herself and Camila.
"Good." Emira said.
"Less chances of burning our mouths." Skara said.
"Eh, I kinda like the burn. It's like a zesty aftertaste." Luz said with a shrug as she ate.
"Thank you! Someone tastes it." Eda said with a nod.
"She doesn't count." Emira said, "She ate coal as a kid, her taste buds are messed up."
"That just means I have a stronger stomach than you, Emira. You couldn't handle a squid eating contest if your life depended on it." Luz said as she waved her hand in Emira.
Emira playfully glared at her.
"Like I would enter a squid eating contest." Emira said.
"And what about Viney?" Luz asked with a smirk.
"You leave her out of this!" Emira said quickly before covering her mouth.
"Viney?" The four parents asked, looking at Emira.
'Oh dang!' The siblings beside Luz thought.
"Emira, who is Viney?" Odalia asked.
"She seems like a rather important person to you." Raine said as they put their fork down.
"She's... a friend." Emria said, giving Luz the 'I'm going to kill you later' look.
Luz just gave a smirk back as she kept eating, enjoying the show.
"Must be a pretty close one if you reacted like this. Why don't you tell us a bit about her?" Eda suggested.
"Uh... well, she's a Beast Keeper." Emira said, "Top of her class."
"Uh huh." Camila said with a smile, she had a small spot in her heart for small beasts.
"Anything else?" Odalia asked.
"She also likes to study healing magic." Luz said.
"SHUT UP, LUZ!" Emira quickly shouted to her sister.
"Emira." Odalia said, "Does this girl happen to be your... girlfriend?"
Emira was nervous about this, she wanted to introduce Viney to her parents before telling them they were dating but Luz had to screw it up as a joke!
"Emira, you don't need to answer that if you aren't ready." Camila said.
"N-No. it's fine." Emira said as she took a deep breath. "Yes, Viney is my girlfriend and I wanted to introduce her to you when the time was right."
"Well, this is... surprising." Eda said.
"Does anyone ELSE have a secret relationship they're afraid to tell us about?" Odalia asked her children, visibly hurt that they would hide this.
Are they ashamed of their multi-parent family? Slowly each of them raised a hand.
"Wow, and I thought me and you were the only lovebirds here." Luz whispered to her sister.
"Yeah, now I'm curious." Amity whispered back.
"Alright, we're going around the table." Raine said, "Luz, you start. Who's your secret partner?"
"Boscha, my potions partner. We've been dating for a while now." Luz admitted.
"I should've known." Camila said, "The way you look at her was the same way I looked at these three in school. Amity, who is yours?"
"Willow, we recently became a couple thanks to Luz." Amity said.
"Let me guess, on the zoo trip in the human world earlier today?" Eda asked.
"Yes." Amity said with a nod.
"I forced her to take a picture with a giraffe." Luz said, "She jumped right into Willow's arms."
Eda actually chuckled from this before Raine shook their head at this, they knew giraffes were domesticated in the human world, but they still feared them. Bunch of freaks.
"Alright now, moving on. Edric, who are you in a relationship with?" Raine asked their son.
"There's this boy named Jerbo. Me and him have had this thing for almost a year."
"Me and Viney introduced them to each other." Emira added.
"That's nice. I would like to meet him as well." Camila said with a nod.
"Skara, your turn."
"I'm…I'm dating Kat. You've met her before, she's in the Healing track." Skara said with a tiny blush. "We've only been together for a couple months."
"Ah, yes, I think I know who you're talking about." Raine said, "It has been some time since I've seen her."
"Yeah, she moved to the chest for a couple years to help take care of her grandfather." Skara said.
"Really? How's he doing?" Odalia asked, having known Kat's mother and her parents in her youth.
"He's doing good now, but there was a time when they had to question whether or not he would see the next day."
"That's good." Odalia said with a nod.
"Okay, now that the secret relationships are out of the way, I say it's time we meet them FACE TO FACE." Eda said, a little pissed their children would hide their boyfriend and girlfriends from them.
"I agree." Camila said.
"But what would be a good time to have them all over? Dinner next weekend?" Raine considered.
'Dinner? Everyone?!' The kids thought in surprise.
"I really like that idea." Eda said.
"As do I." Odalia said.
"Now wait a minute, doesn't this seem like too big of a step? Especially for Skara and Kat?" Edric said, trying to dissuade this idea!
It would be relationship suicide, not to mention embarrassing if they showed baby pictures!
"Well, it's either that, or you can get grounded for the next year for lying to us." Camila said.
No one opposed her, not if they wanted to live.
"It wasn't exactly lying." Luz mumbled as all her siblings glared at her!
'This is all your fault!' Their looks said as they looked at her.
"Maybe not but you still shouldn't have been afraid to tell us. We're your parents, if whoever you wish to be with makes you happy, then that's all we could ask for." Camila said before taking a sip of her drink. "By the way, mumble like that again and you're ground for TWO years."
Luz flinched at that. Her mami is the single most intimidating person she knows. She was scarily quiet the rest of dinner that night. Her siblings glared at her the rest of dinner. Before, they were afraid of her and comforting her emotionally but now, they wanted to kill her for forcing them to reveal they relationships and now had to bring them over for dinner next weekend! Luz, feeling the cold looks, just got up and walked out of the kitchen and went to her workshop. She had enough to eat and thought going back to work in her forge could help her last until she could go to sleep.
'They just need some time to cool off.' Luz thought.
She hoped that was the case at least. She spent the rest of her night in her workshop, by the time she was done it was almost eleven. She snuck her way through the hall trying not to wake the others when she heard her siblings.
"I can't believe that little brat did that!" Emira said.
"Yeah, now we're all going to become single because of her!" Edric said, "I almost miss it when she didn't talk at all!"
"Talk about the world's worst sister!" Skara said.
Luz ran to her room and started crying. She didn't mean for this to happen; it was an accident. Luz looked at her window and knew what to do. In the room, Amity started talking.
"Guys, you are getting a little excessive." Amity said, "It's not like she meant this. Do you know what would happen if she heard that?"
Outside, Luz managed to climb out of her window and was already down the hill.
"They won't need to worry about me again." Luz said.
Luz never meant to make them feel this way, she just wanted to tease Emira a bit like that all usually do, but it just spiraled out of control.
'Why couldn't I just keep my big mouth shut?' Luz thought as she climbed over the gate of the mansion and headed into the woods.
She was heading to Aunt Lily, if there was anyone that would let her stay, it would be Lilith. Luz ran through the woods, trying her best to see in the darkness.
"Why didn't I bring a glyph with me?" She asked.
Luz kept walking and made it about a mile away when she tripped and fell into a hole. She didn't know what happened, but she felt her head get cut, and her arm bend backwards. When she hit the bottom of the hole, she blacked out and laid there, unconscious. There Luz laid for the rest of the night as her family was nine the wiser.
