The next morning, the family noticed that Luz didn't come down for breakfast.
"Where is Luz?" Odalia said.
"I checked her workshop. She's not there." Eda said.
"She doesn't have her scroll, because she's not answering." Camila said.
"I'm going to go check her room." Amity said.
Amity went up and knocked on the door.
"Luz? Are you awake?"
Amity opened the door and saw the bed was empty, not just of Luz, but of her sheets too. Said sheets are tied to the frame and leading out the window.
"No." Amity said in shock, rushing back downstairs in a panic! "LUZ IS GONE!"
"Gone, what do you mean gone!?" Raine said.
"She ran away! Her used her sheets to climb out the window!" Amity said.
"Oh my... Everyone, split up!" Camila said, "Go look for her!"
Everyone rushed from the dining room and out of the Manor to find Luz! Amity was the most worried, she ran into the woods, thinking that Luz would head towards Lilith's house.
"Luz! Luz, can you hear me!?"
She looked everywhere for her, low and high to find any trance of her! Her search stopped when she saw a dragging line in the ground, making her stop and examine it.
"Could this be it?" Amity asked as she quickly followed the drag before coming upon a hole with Luz at the bottom! "Luz!"
Her sister only groaned as the cut on her head had dried shut with a small trail of blood and her arm was still broken. Amity acted fast and summoned abomination muck to make a tendril and pulled Luz out of the hole. Amity held Luz in her arms.
"Oh Titan. Luz can you hear me!?"
Luz groaned and opened her eyes a little bit.
"Mittens?"
"Don't worry Luz, I'll get you back home." Amity said, picking Luz up and heading back to the mansion as fast as possible.
She ran into the front door.
"Mom! Mami! Mama! Nini!" Amity yelled as she got inside.
They came to the front and saw Luz in Amity's arms.
"Oh my Titan! Where was she?!" Camila asked, very worried for Luz.
"I found her in a path to Aunt Lilith's house, but she must've trip! I found her in a deep hole, she must've been there all night!" Amity said as Camila gently took Luz into her arms.
"Ugh." Luz groaned, possibly from her broken arm or potential wooziness from blood lose.
"Odalia, Eda, come with me to the Healer Center! Raine, you stay here and watch the kids!" Camila said.
"Wait, I'm going too." Amity said, "That's my sister and my best friend, I won't leave her side."
"Fine, then follow us." Eda said.
They walked out of the door, trying not to hurt Luz anymore. Amity turned around and glared at her older siblings before walking out the door. The three older siblings flinched from Amity's glare before looking away in guilt, it was just as Amity warned them last night. Luz heard them and this was the outcome of it, spending the night in a hole with a broken arm and a cut on her head. Raine seemed to notice Amity's glare and their guilty expressions, something they planned to ask immediately. The door closed and Raine turned to face them.
"Talk."
The trio flinched at Raine's tone and stern eyes. They may not have been the strictest of their parents but when they needed to, Raine could bring the hammer of authority down.
"W-Well, Nini, it's like this." Skara said with a gulp.
"We were... angry last night after Luz... revealed our relationships, so... we might've said some things-"
"And those things are the reason your sister is in pain and being brought to a Healer Center." Raine said, "Go to your rooms, we'll discuss this more when your Mami gets back."
"Yes, Nini." Emira, Edric, and Skara said as they headed upstairs.
Camila returned an hour later. Eda and Odalia were left at the Healer Center to keep Amity calm. Poor girl was so scared for Luz. Camila barely had a second to try and process everything before Raine walked over. Raine gave Camila a kiss, but it was one that Camila could tell would only lead to sadness.
"I have Emira, Edric, and Skara in a room upstairs." Raine said, "You'll want to hear it from them."
Camila let out a sigh, she had a feeling this would happen. After the glares she saw from them, she had a few ideas of why this happened to Luz, each idea reached back to them.
"Let's hope it's not TOO bad." Camila said before she took a breath and spoke loudly. "Come downstairs, now please!"
Though she wasn't using her angry or stern voice, it wasn't a good idea to keep their Mami waiting, and the trio rushed down the steps to stand before her and Raine.
"Raine, I would like to speak to them alone, if you would please." Camila said.
"Of course, dear."
Raine left the room and Camila looked at them.
"What did you do?" Camila asked.
"We... we made some... mean comments." Skara said.
"We didn't mean for this to happen." Emira said.
"But it did." Camila said, "Your baby sister is in the Healing Center with a broken arm and her head with be permanently scarred."
They could sense Camila's anger.
"We're sorry." Edric said.
"Sorry? Your sister could have permanent damage in her arm. She may never be able to use her arm again. She may have to give up the one thing that makes feel like she's worth something because of your comments." Camila said, "What did you say?"
"We called her the world's worst sister." Skara said.
"Really? You would really say that? After everything she's done for you? Skara, when you broke your arm and weren't able to use your instruments, who sat by your bed for weeks playing the violin just to keep you happy? Emira, Edric, when you pulled a prank that destroyed an entire room at school, who took the blame and spent three months in detention? Who is the person that would bend over backwards if it meant helping this family?"
They all looked down in shame. Camila was beyond furious, but she knew that yelling would only make things worse.
"Honestly, I am beyond disappointed in you three. What did you say when Amity and Luz were two? When we learned that Luz would never be able to perform magic?"
"We promised that we would protect her." Emira said.
"Yes, and you clearly failed that promise." Camila said.
Hearing this, made Skara and Emira cry a bit as Edric sniffled a bit. They did break their promise, they caused Luz to think they didn't love her anymore and drove her away which ended up getting her hurt! Camila went to her children and hugged them, letting them cry in her embrace.
"You don't need to say sorry to me, but you need to say sorry to Luz. Okay?" She said to them.
"Yes, Mami." They said, still crying.
"You three are grounded." Camila said, "Now, I want you to go upstairs and try and come up with an apology. I have to find out how to remove Amity from Luz's side."
The three went upstairs and Camila just walked to the dining room and sat at the table. She was nervous, they paid top dollar for the best Healer around. They would do this for all of their kids, but for Luz it was extra important. If she loses the use of her arm, then her only means of defense would be gone. She would never be able to make weapons again, that alone would make her feel broken, she already feels like she's worthless because she lacks magic, if she loses her talent, then what would happen? Camila started to feel tears run down her face. She also felt a thumb run over her cheek.
"Don't cry, Love." Raine said.
"How can I not when my baby witch is in so much pain?" Camila asked as she hugged Raine.
"She's strong, she'll get past this, she'll be better in no time." Raine said.
"I want to believe you, but this is far worse than anything else that happened to her." Camila said.
They hugged Camila and kissed her, trying everything possible to keep her happy.
