Last time on a fairy tail re-told

Natsu: man, those weeks leading up to the games went by fast

Happy: Aye

Lucy: we're ready for this

Happy: you guys can do it

Natsu: ah yeah, I'm all fired up

Mavis had to hide her smile as she watched the weary wizards drag themselves to the dragon pub. They all seemed to be exhausted after having their second origins unlocked, so it was understandable that they were a little tired "come on," Elfman shouted, "be real men," he screamed.

"Come on," Natsu said, "you guys are going to be fine."

"Says you," Cana shouted "you didn't have to get your second origin unlocked," she screamed at the dragon slayer, who laughed at her. "I swear it feels like I cast fairy glitter again."

"Oh, stop being dramatic," Wendy muttered

"Yeah," Elfman shouted again,

"we're real men."

"Man, what kind of training did Mavis have you guys do." Bisca asked as the group let out an exhausted sigh, "but you should know that my honey gun and I have increased our sharpshooting," she said as she and Alzack struck a pose "figured that we'd help out if the games allowed it," she smiled

"Man Elfman," Max said, "you buffed up."

"I've got the muscles that every man dreams of," Elfman replied

"My sandstorm got stronger," Max said. "I could probably beat Natsu now."

[##S-class promotional trial##]

"Wanna try that," Natsu asked, only for Mavis to raise her hand.

"as much as I would love to see that we need to head inside," Mavis said as she walked in the door in front said closed for maintenance which would allow them to converse without fear of the activities getting to guides, "we need to be ready for the games." she sighed as she faced the group "throughout the past few weeks I had Levy studying on how we would be participating in the games" she looked to the young woman "I'll let her take it from here."

"Right," Levy said. "Well, you see, wizards can form teams and have to have a sponsor of sorts," Levy explained, "for example. the members of Lamis scale would represent their guild and so on."

"And that is our way in," Mavis said, "thanks to Makarov, he will be the representative that will get us into the games" she looked around the room. "Fairy tail will be who represents us, so Natsu, Erza, Gray, Lucy, Wendy, you kids will be participating in the games," she said, much to Lucy's shock.

"Wait, what," Lucy asked. "What about Mira, or Gajeel, hell, Laxus," she said she knew of their history was a bit miffed right now but still might as well go all out "are you sure about this."

"Yes," Mavis said, "you five haven't let us down before," she told the girl, "And I doubt you will let us down know," she said, "for us to win, we need all our strong players on the battlefield," she said, " the best outcome for us is to go all out." Mavis smiled "fear not, child I know that you will not let us down."

"If you say so," Lucy deflated.

"Come on, Lucy," Wendy said, wrapping an arm around her "you're a lot stronger than you give yourself credit for"

"Aye," Happy said, "I know you can do it."

"With them going in, we might have a shot," Max said

"Yeah," Laki noted, "we can always count on fairy tail, can't we."

"Yeah, there are real men," Elfman said, pumping his fist up

"we're all depending on you," Kinana said, "so do your best."

"I won't lie when I say that we are caught in a bad situation," Mavis admitted "getting trapped on Tenrou Island caused you all so much pain" Mavis looked away "now we have a chance to get everything we lost back," she said "to have a place to call home again" she screamed will you all stand with me."

"Yeah," everyone in the pub screamed.

"Man, you can give a speech," Miko said. "I will admit," she said, "the chance to get back home sounds nice," she said

"So you are from Magnolia," Mavis asked.

"Yeah, I used to run a cafe there, but after Twilight Oger," she looked away, "know that I'm rooting for you all. I want you to win this so we can go back."

Wendy had started looking out the window, a smile coming across her face as they began to leave "everything okay, kid," she heard the voice of Natsu. She turned to see her friend and big brother figure.

"Nothing," Wendy responded, "just thinking is all."

"You know," Carla said, "shirotsume has grown on me."

"Yeah," Natsu said, "it's a calming place."

"How do you think I feel," Wendy said "for at least six years I've lived here," Wendy said, "I've grown so used to being here that the thought of going back to Magnolia is so."

"Odd," Natsu finished.

"Yeah," Wendy said as she stood up, "come on," she smiled, "I'm going to go take in the scenery," Wendy said "one more time, yeah," she smiled, "cause a week from now, I expect to be gazing at Magnolia again."

"You got that right, kid," Natsu said "we're going to conquer the grand magic games," Natsu smiled, "and in the end, we're going back," he smiled at her, "and we can do whatever you want . " he smiled at her "consider it my treat

Wendy's face lit up "I'm going to hold you to that," she said "you three owe me seven years" she laughed "and I plan to collect"

"Aye," Happy said

"Speaking of which, whatever happened to our old house in the woods," Natsu asked.

"Probably still there," Wendy said, "though I'm sure that animals have made a home in it" this got a laugh out of Natsu as they started to leave.

"Hold on a little longer Magnolia, we're coming for ya."

[## opening 13:Break though##]

A day later, the group found themselves in Crocus, the capital of Fiore. They smiled as the festival for the grand magic games had gone in full swing Crocus was by far the largest town they've ever seen by far, much larger than the Kingdom located in Edolas, a vast amount of buildings in a circular formation as far as the eye can see, with the right part of the town being placed on the edge of a small crag; such claim seems to be surrounded by walls topping the peak itself. The most distinctive trait of the town, giving it its epithet of Flower Blooming Capital, is the limitless number of flowers adorning the streets, with flowerbeds being placed everywhere and garlands of flowers appearing as one of the town's most prominent souvenirs. The buildings, possessing bright facades and towers with extremely pointed tiled roof jutting upwards, are lined up the stone street's sides, some of which are pretty basic, while other, more elaborated ones consist of very large, circular mosaics made of wide, flat stones, which bear floral and natural motifs in their center; the chess-like pattern is also used, flanking simpler, stone sections of the streets. For the occasion of the Grand Magic Games, the streets were also adorned by ropes suspended high above them, their edges secured to the buildings facing the streets, which had several triangular flags hanging from them, alternating plain dark and light colors. In the central part of the town lies a large, round lake; in its center, linked to the surroundings by a pair of bridges, sits Mercurius, the King of Fiore's palace.

"Why do I feel so horrible" Lucy groaned.

"I do hope that second origin stuff wasn't some sick joke to make us lose the contest," Gray muttered

"Come on, you two, chin up," Erza said

"And why don't you seem to feel like death on a cracker" Lucy growled out

"My guess she already has her second origin unlocked," Gray muttered "then there's those two" he gestured to Natsu and Wendy while both couldn't have their second origin unlocked, they were already on that level

"Man, don't think I've ever been in a city this huge," Natsu muttered back when he was younger people would tell him all the time how big the capital of Fiore was but he never really believed them until now

"Aye," Happy said

"Yeah," Wendy said, "and all these new smells," Wendy sniffed the air before e letting out a pleased sigh

"It defiantly puts the royal city in Edolas to shame, that's for sure," Carla said

"Nice to see you brats have finally arrived," a voice called the group turned to see Makarov walking up to them giving Asuka a piggyback ride with Bisca, Alzack, and Laki behind him and "you should all know that you are registered," he smiled, "so now it all falls to you to get our home back."

"Hey, who are those guys," someone asks

"don't know," another said, "you think they're going to participate in the games."

"No idea"

"So, what are these games like anyway, "Wendy asked, "never really came to see them."

"Basically, the games tally up points between each team," Makarov said, "however we won't know what you'll be facing until the games start tomorrow." Levy smiled "the games will last until July sixth"

"so I might have time to make it" Natsu muttered

"something wrong boy" Makaro vasked

"no" Natsu replied "just something I need to do after all this is said and done," he told them "so the game has events what kind could we expect"

"It could be a shoot-off," Bisca explained.

"Or a race," Laki said. "I know Jet would hate that"

"I see," Erza said, "it keeps you on your toes."

"Makes sense," Natsu said "you should be ready to face anything that you come across," Natsu explained "adaptation is key to a lot of different jobs," Natsu explained.

"Sometimes, you really know how to impress me, Natsu," Makarov said,

"So, these are those brats you never shut up about," a voice called the group turned to see Cosmos walking up to them "hey Makarov, glad to see you were able to get out here for the games" she smiled

"Hey it's Cosmos," Wendy said. "I never got the chance to thank you for all the stuff that happened with the infinity clock," Wendy said, walking up to her.

"don't mention it," Cosmos said, "just a favor for old Maki over here." she leaned over, getting a good look at the wizards behind her "so these are the fairy tail guys that vanished seven years ago," she smiled "welcome back to the land of the living I guess."

"You must be Cosmos," Natsu said "thanks," Natsu said

"I didn't know you lived in the royal city," Wendy asked

"Yeah, I work for the king directly," Cosmos explained, "the magic council wanted to put a wizard saint in Crocus, and I was chosen after the last one stepped down."

"That sounds like a lot of responsibility," Lucy said

"she's more than cable," Makarov said, "and did you do that other favor I asked of you."

"Yeah," Cosmos said, "you still owe for the infinity clock, though, so keep that in mind old man."

"of course, dear," Makarov laughed. "I'll see what I can do, but I won't help with any of your more robust activities."

"I guess," Cosmos said "good luck in the games," Cosmo said, looking back at the group of wizards, "while the game of the day is randomized, I can tell you the about the games, at the end of each day the king picked at least one wizard from each team," she explained "he then pits them against each other, and the winner can earn bonus points for their team."

"So, there is fighting," Natsu said

"Yeah, the king has organizers pick based on magic ability, how they match up, and if he really wants to see them fight," she told them.

"I see," Makarov said "thanks for the information."

"No problem," Cosmos said. "I'm rooting for you guys. Show these guild wizards that we're just as good and even better," she said, giving a wink.

"Also," Makarov said, "you kids are to be in your temporary apartment here by twelve."

"Why," Natsu asked

"They didn't say," Makarov explained, "but it might be best that you do it."

"We understand," Gray said, "but it kinda reminds me of the story with the princess and glass slipper."

"I read that one," Natsu said "never really liked it"

"Aye"

"We have time," Natsu said, "so what do you say we do some exploring," Natsu said.

"I can agree to that," Happy said

"Be careful," Erza said, her mind going back to what Jellal had told them, "Don't get lost."

"don't worry about us," Wendy called as she and Natsu ran off Lucy Happy, and Carla close behind telling them to slow down

while her friends went to explore the capital, Erza went to the place they would be staying at, the honey bone inn. She was curious as to why they were required to be in their rooms by twelve 'six beds have been prepared,' Erza muttered as she took in the room; it was plain nothing in it really stood out a closet for all the clothes they would be bringing a standard bathroom nothing here seemed out of the ordinary to her Erza sighed as she relaxed in a bath.

"I wonder," she thought to herself, "what could be the dark energy that surrounds this place." her mind went back to her conversation with Jellal Erza sighed as she sat up

she once again started to look around the room, hoping that nothing was out of the ordinary

"I guess I'm just on edge," Erza muttered as she sat down, letting out a relieved breath as she laid down on her bed, looking at the roof

"Your perfume is as lovely as ever," a voice called. She looked up to see Ichiya standing over her smiling, making her shiver as she punched him out of the window

"You need to respect my space," she screamed

"you're so lovely when you're angry," Rins voice called, "but we didn't come to cheer you up."

"Would like to freshen up," Eve asked

"You truly are a ray of sunshine."

"Follow your little troll of a master," Erza screamed as she knocked them all out of the room.

"TRIMENS FOREVER"

"Let hope this all goes over as easy as possible." in the city of Crocus, Gray smiled as he walked through the streets.

"Gray, my darling," a voice called, catching his attention. He turned to see Juvia walking up to him

"Oh, there you are," he smiled at her "did you travel here by yourself," he asked

"Well, not just me, silly," Juvia said, "We all came to cheer you all on" she smiled as Gray tried to hide his blush, "say what do you say you and I try to get a bite to eat or something," Juvia asked

"Yeah, sure," Gray said. "I guess I am a little hungry."

"If that's the case, I know the perfect place," Lyon said as he got between them, wrapping an arm around Juvia "this restaurant is highly romantic, and even has its own aquarium with exotic fish."

"Hey, don't just go running off with people," Gray screamed

"Rumor has it that you're entering the grand magic games," Lyon said "to get back Magnolia," he smiled, "while I can understand the sentiment, you should know that Lamia scale won't be bested so easily," he said, "Jura and I are taking part in the games this year, so you don't stand a prayer."

"Is that so," Gray said "well, we have our own ace in the holes known as Erza Scarlett and Natsu Dragneel, not to mention how powerful Wendy has gotten over the past seven years" he smiled "put me and Lucy in there, and your victory won't be as easy you think it is."

"We welcome the challenge," Lyon said, "while I won't lie to you when I say Lamai scale is fairy tails Ally, we don't plan on walking away from this battle as the loser."

"Yeah, well, neither are we," Gray shouted as they pressed their foreheads against each other.

"Fine then, "Lyon said, "and I also want to say something" he turned to face Gray "my master wanted fairy tail to know this, our bet, if we win the Grand magic games, you and all your friends will join the Lamia scale guild."

"I see," Gray said, "and if we win."

"Well, you get Magnolia back," he said

"This has to be the worst bet I ever heard off," he muttered

"Gray, you're either going to run off with him or the women who you love now choose," Juvia screamed mad that she was being ignored.

"You have no idea what's going on, do you."

All over the city, the guild arrived ready to participate in the grand magic games. Only one team would emerge the victor from this battle.

Natsu, Wendy, Lucy, Carla, and Happy walked through the streets as the night sky peered over them "wow," Wendy said as they approached the castle, "this place is amazing," she said "they call it the Flower Light Palace: Mercurius" she said as they looked at the outside of the extremely large and tall building, appearing as one of the most visible elements in the valley where Crocus is located, and towering over all of the city's other buildings, is a very intricately decorated and designed castle. The place appears to consist of several different. Yet, uniform buildings fused together, with some sections protruding outwards and assuming particular forms. The walls are adorned by large, rectangular windows lined up and flanked by protruding pillars. Its main entrance seems to be a mildly small door topped by a very high decorative arc, which gets pointed near its top and has its central part adorned by a large, round flower window. To its left is a section keeping its height, topped by another going up high, which possesses a pitched roof, and behind which appears to be a structure reminiscent of ancient Greek and Roman temples, being highly similar to the actual Parthenon, near which, to its upper right, sits apart ending in a small dome, topped by a prominent spire; two towers, possessing approximately the same height as the spire, are located on the back and right parts of the building. To the entrance's right, several meters away from it, the building takes on an arched form, with such part being reminiscent of a cylinder partially fused with the structure, soared above by a mildly small spire, almost placed in the back part of the building. Topping the entire castle is a high, round tower, with its lower part, much more massive than the one above it, being adorned by elongated windows and ending in a dome, from which the thinner, top part appears and goes up several meters before ending in a pointed tiled roof.

"it is a sight," Carla said "make me wonder how the king is like" right now, they were in a lush garden, which, much like the rest of the city, is adorned by a large number of flowers, possessing flowerbeds and, in addition, artistically arranged plants and small, tidy hedges, which have square, hollow spaces on their edges, housing ornately decorated street lamps, with wavy poles ending in large orbs, with circular objects surrounding them, seemingly floating. The streets there are adorned by mosaics, which consist of a variety of small, flat rectangular stones arranged to resemble semicircles. In front of the palace sits a fountain, surrounded by a ground-level, round and shallow pool; water jets jut upwards from both the fountain and the pool, with the former also housing some plants, or possibly statues of plants, on its base.

"Maybe a really long beard," Lucy said, "or maybe he looks like the king from edolas."

"Remember, the king was gramps counterpart," Natsu corrected "this guy is someone we've never met before."

"Right," Lucy said "hey, you guys ever get the feeling where being watched," Lucy asked

"Well, look like the rumors were right," a voice called the group turned to see Lector walking up to them "see Sting."

"I see," Sting said as he gave a grin "we meet at last Salamander," he said as Wendy turned to Lucy, reaching her hand out as the girl sighed, placing some jewel in her hands. Wendy took it away, a smirk on her face.

"Should I know you?" Natsu said

"We haven't officially met," Sting said, "but I figured I'd meet you before the games start." he gave a smirk as Rouge walked up behind him "you are the chosen son of magnolia and said to be the strongest guy there."

"Pretty sure that's, Gildarts, but okay," Natsu said before something hit him, he could smell it "you're a"

"Yeah," Sting said, "I'm a dragon slayer like you and the sky maiden back there."

"There it is," Wendy muttered.

"I'm a new generation," he smiled. "I'm the second generation of dragon slayer, thanks to my parents, who were also dragon slayers, and the dragon who trained me."

"You were trained by a dragon," Wendy asked. "and dragon slayers"

"Yeah, and we killed them with our hands" he smiled

"You what," Natsu asked, clearly angered by this, "you've killed your own master."

"it's a natural process," Sting said, "who knows, maybe you killed yours."

"Like hell we did," Wendy said, stepping forward only for Natsu to stop her.

"look," Rogue said, "we understand that you're here to win Magnolia back from us," he said "however, we came with a counteroffer, join Sabertooth, and I'm sure master wouldn't mind allowing you to remove Twilight Oger from there and allowing you to place your own guild there" the words hung in the air as Natsu back up "all you need to do is submit to Sabertooth."

"Like hell, we will," Natsu said. "I would never stoop so low as to join a guild like you," Natsu growled, "we will win these games, and when that happens, we will be taking our home back."

"I was hoping you'd say that," Sting said, "but don't come crying to us when you lose," he said, "but know that you will be joining Sabertooth."

"Hey, look, it's Sting and Rogue." people started to run up to them

"Come on, guys, we need to get back," Natsu said

"You should let your dragon slayer know that he's dealing with the best of the best," Lector said

"we'll see about that, bub," Happy said as he followed his friend away. Sting watched them leave, shaking his head as he turned to meet his fans, giving them a smile as they approached.

"They killed them," Wendy muttered.

"Let not worry about that," Natsu said "we didn't kill our dragons," Natsu said, "trust me, I would remember doing that"

"Right," Wendy said

Lucy wanted to comfort her friends, but what would she say. when the topics of their dragons came up, all she could do was sit there and listen as they walked to the honey bone-in "how do you guys feel about killing dragons."

"If I have to, I have to," Natsu said, "and far as I know, there's only one dragon out there that we might end up having to kill."

"But that's something for us to worry about later," Wendy said, "right now, let's focus on winning this thing."

"that's the spirit," Lucy said "they better come at us with everything they got," Lucy bragged.

"right" behind them, a small creature looked on as they walked away, a smile on its face as it watched the wizards walk back to their apartment.

"You mind telling me what you all were doing," Erza asked she had been waiting for what felt like forever playing card games and the like she planned on having a friendly game night but these buffoons decided it would be best to leave her here by herself.

"Having an unenjoyable meal," Gray muttered. "Juvia says hi, by the way."

"We ran into a pair of contestants," Lucy muttered, "not the friendliest bunch." next to her Natsu and Wendy were still seething from their conversation with Sting and Rogue it had hit them as a truck had their minds all over the place

"Well, it's almost midnight," Erza said, "so we need to be ready for whatever comes next.

"Yeah," Wendy said

"Hey guys," a voice called. They looked to see Kinana, Elfman, and Miko coming into the room. "We brought you guys some supplies for when you enter the games," she smiled, "tomorrow's going to be a big day."

"hey cousin Lucy," Katja said behind her was Michelle

"We came to cheer you on at the games," Michelle said

"you guys didn't have to," Lucy said

"of course we did," Michelle said "you guys have our full support, we know that you'll give it your all"

"Thanks," Wendy said, "safe to say we're kinda on edge right now."

"That doesn't sound manly," Elfman said, "everything okay."

"Naw, just we were asked to be in our rooms by twelve," Gray said, leaning back "we don't know why."

"That is strange," Miko said as she sat the bags down the clock soon rang. telling them that it was, in fact, twelve at midnight. "It looks like your about to find out."

"Attention all contestants, participating in this year's grand magic games," a voice called "good morning."

"Outside," Erza called as they ran outside to see what looked like a man in a pumpkin costume.

"it's time," he screamed, "many wizard teams have gathered to take part in the games, and now it's time we need to trim them down to eight."

"Only eight," Gray asked

"Has this happened in years past," Natsu asked

"Not that I know off," Kinana said "we're in the dark here enough as it is"

"It probably why they wanted us to be in our rooms by twelve," Wendy said

"The number of teams has grown in each year," the pumpkin man said "it's getting boring, so" he snapped his fingers "we will give eight of you a chance to shine," he screamed as the building started to rise "the first eight teams to complete this labyrinth will advance to the grand magic games" he shouted, "all five members must cross to be able to take place in the games."

"I see," Erza said

"Looks like the grand magic games have begun."
