Hey fairy tale fans, and welcome back to a fairy tail re-told, okay little note as I said way back in the first chapter of this arc, chapter 152 if I am correct, as I said, then I would be splitting the arc in half the first half focusing on the grand magic game stuff. The second half would focus on the eclipse gate arc stuff that I have been teasing since we started the games; the reason I did this causes well, it would be a little easier on me instead of juggling multiple plot lines at the same time, which is why I skipped the day of rest that the wizards get, and we're just jumping right into the end. Now let's get into the final part of the Grand magic games.

Fun fact: with this chapter this arc has officially surpassed Tenrou Island as the longest arc in this story and that with the cuts. I'll be honest this arc went on longer than I thought it would but I did enjoy writing it, especially with all the character interactions I got to do

Happy: thanks to Natsu and Gajeel, we were able to shoot up to first place

Lucy: now all we have to do is when the final day and we can go home

Gray: Yeah, man, with you and Mavis at the helm, there's no way we can lose.

Wendy: you and Erza are pulling your own weight as well Gray, we're all counting on you

Natsu: yeah, we're all fired up.

"Here's to Natsu and Gajeel," Mavis cried as everyone in the room cheered, slamming their drinks together as they gave the dragon slayer pats on the back as they tried to hide their embarrassment. They were getting a lot of praise since they had left the arena "thanks to you boys, we have taken first place," she said as everyone cheered again "though we may have earned victory today, we should remain on our guard and ready for anything that they can throw at us."

"Man, you should have seen yourselves," Romeo said, "you were taking them down left and right, Natsu."

"You were amazing," Katja said

"Man, I wish I could have seen it," Lucy said

"the organizers recorded the second half of the fight," Michelle told her "they might release it later."

"How are you feeling," Erza asked while the girl had started to move around. She was still worried about her injuries.

"thanks to Wendy and Porlyusica, I'm going to be fine," Lucy said as she stretched a bit. "I might be sore for a few days, but I'll manage."

"Yeah," Elfman said he too had finally recovered, "I'm feeling manlier than ever."

"Come on, Erza," Lucy said, waving her hand, "live a little," she said, "we earned a little celebration, haven't we" Lucy reasoned, getting a smile from the scarlet knight.

"I guess you're right." Erza said, "we have come a long way, haven't we," Erza said

"Then I guess you won't mind us crashing your party," a voice called. They turned to see the members of Crime Sorciere standing in the doorway, giving them all smiles. The person at the front was Ultear. She smiled as she walked up "we wanted to say congratulations on your win today."

"Even if it was reckless," Meredy added, "I mean, come on, we still don't know what those seals on us do," she shouted.

"You are just jealous that you couldn't do it," Natsu argued back

"That," Meredy said, a blush coming to her face, "that's not true," she shouted back

"It so is," Wendy said, coming next to Natsu

"Shut up"

Enter: the fairy tactician

Jiemma said nothing as Sting and Rogue stood before him, their failure from today still burning in his memory as both looked to the floor in shame "so Sting, Rogue," he said, finally breaking the silence that had overcome the place since he had arrived "what should I do with you" he said, "I thought you were the peak of strength" he said, "practitioners of one of the oldest magics in known history" he practically shouted, "but now I find you silent" he said, "imagine my surprise when you both got your asses handed to you by people you said where your inferior" he said "what do you have to say for yourselves" he asked.

"You spelled it out clearly," Rogue said. "Natsu and Gajeel were stronger than either of us could have predicted," he said, "they were able to subdue us without even using the full extent of their power." he had felt it when they were fighting, especially after they went dragon force Natsu and Gajeel merely scratched the surface of their power "they are unlike anything I had ever seen before" everyone backed up as Jiemma stood up slamming his foot into the ground creating a tremor through the room as he walked over to the pair towering over them. "They may be unbeatable."

"Did I ask for you pitiful excuses" he shouted "sounds like the cries of a weakling to me," he shouted as he increased his power, forcing Sting and Rogue into the wall.

"Sting," Lector called

"Rogue," Frosh called

"Have you learned nothing" he screamed, As he continued to punch them around there, guildmates could only watch as Jiemma delt out his punishment, this was the price of failure, and they all knew it. In order to reach the heavens, they would need to purge themselves of all weakness, but that didn't stop them from flinching when they saw blood flying from the two dragon slayers as Jiemma punched the pair into opposite walls " fortunately for you, I still require you" Jiemma said as he calmed down" he watched as Frosh went to Rogue "I will let you off the hook, for now, Rogue" Jiemma said as he turned to Sting "however Sting this is the second time you've failed me" he said as light shined around Lector.

"Wait, what are you doing," Sting asked. "Please stop," he cried.

"This is the price of your failure." Jiemma said, "the only reason I let a pathic weakling like this remain in my guild," Jiemma told him, "was because you had earned it," he said, "but I will not reward failure" he spat as he closed his fist and a bright light shined around Lector as the room shook from the weight of the attack as everyone stood in silent horror at what Jiemma was doing "your compassion for this cat is a shackle" he screamed "one that I will remove"

"Sting," Lector called as his body dissolved, leaving only a black spot. as Sting looked in horror

"Stay close to me, Frosh," Rogue said, bringing his friend close to him

"Master killed him," Frosh muttered. "Master killed Lector," he said, fear laced in his voice. "why would he do that."

"Minerva, Rufus, Ogra, and whoever you select as you're sixth," Jiemma noted, "these words are for you as well." he said, "fail me again, and the punishment will be severe," he said, " tomorrow is your chance, To make up for your pitiful Performance this year." he said "now get out my sight and prepare for tomorrow," Jiemma said as everyone started to filter out of the room. He took one more look at Sting, who hadn't budged from his spot. He scoffed before he left the man to his thoughts.

Sting was still in shell shock; his best friend was gone. He looked to Rogue, who had since adopted a look of concern for his teammate and partner. This pain was sickening. He felt dead on the inside. He promised that he would always protect him, but he failed because he was too weak. He looked up to Jiemma with tears in his eyes, anger clear on his face 'Lector, ' Sting muttered as he got up, trying to hold back his tears.

'I'm so sorry, Lector.'

Natsu found himself sitting on the roof of the pub they were at enjoying the cool night air against his skin Happy peacefully resting on his lap, currently in a fish coma from all the parting that was going on downstairs "oh, I'm sorry, is this ledge taken" a voice called Natsu looked back to see Meredy walking up to him sitting down "are you brooding" she asked as Rosello hoped on her lap.

"Naw," Natsu said, "just getting some Fresh air, you."

"Same," Meredy said, "you had a big day, so I can't blame you for being tired." she then took a long look at Natsu, "something on your mind."

"You could say that," Natsu said, "you know Sting and Rogue right."

"Yeah," Meredy said, "there those second-generation dragon slayers I keep hearing about, right," she asked to which Natsu nodded "what about em"

"I guess you can say I wonder what happened to them," Natsu said "you know that Yukino girl got kicked out of the guild when she lost on the second day, right," Natsu said.

"So that explains where she went," Meredy said, "and figures you'd be worried about them."

"Yeah," Natsu said, "well, I know one of them grew up in Magnolia," Natsu told her. "Guess you can say I feel responsible for him," Natsu said it was a normal feeling. He felt responsible for everyone that lived in Magnolia no matter how long he was their protector, and in a way, that made him Stings as well. Maybe his defeat today would widen his mind fix his cocky attitude, but then again, from what he knows, Jiemma teaches through fear.

"I'm sure they're fine," Meredy said, "not like its dark guild," Meredy told him, "And trust me, the price for failure in a dark guild is severe."

"I guess," Natsu said as the two started to enjoy the cool night air blowing against their skin as they listened to the silent snores of their exceed companions and light noise of talking that their friends made down in the pub it was relaxing, especially with all that was going on made the two appreciate the peace and quiet.

"You nervous about tomorrow," Meredy asked, breaking the silence

"Yeah," Natsu said, "we have to hold first place," Natsu said, "it's the only way I can take them home."

Meredy smiled that the word home didn't have any meaning for her, but she'd be lying if she said she didn't enjoy these small moments that she and Natsu were starting to have. It made her wonder if this was what home felt, shaking the thought from her head. She looked at the night sky. "I know you can do it," Meredy said, "you're too stubborn to lose, especially after all you've been through" she gave a look at him, her eyes shining from the moonlight, "and if you don't, I'll just kick your ass again."

"again," Natsu said, trying to hold back his laughter, "whatever you say," he said as he picked up Happy, "like that'll happen" this was enough to get a laugh from the girl "come on, lets back before our friends come looking" as the two made their way downstairs they were greeted by Gray trying to convince Ultear to barrel surf.

"I am not doing that," Ultear screamed

"You're such a party pooper," he responded

"I am not," Ultear shouted back at the ice wizard

"I'll do it," Meredy said

"See, she gets it," Gray teased

"Why, you little" Ultear started

"I swear she's going to pop a blood vessel before the nights over," Wendy laughed.

"With friends like Jellal and Meredy," Rossello started. "I'm surprised she hasn't already." everyone started laughing.

'I'll never forget the night before the last day of the grand magic games; I think it was the happiest I saw everyone over the past seven years. I remember my cheeks were hurting from the smiling that I had been doing at the time. We were all thinking one more day, one more day, and we could go home. we partied laughed as hard as we could that day, but little did, we know that just around the corner, disaster was lying in wait.'

On a small ledge away from the fairy pub, a hooded person smiled as she watched fairy tail and Crime Sorciere party Obra once again on her shoulder as she took out a small fruit sharing it with the tiny creature. 'how I wish I could be down there with you, my fledglings' she thought to herself, but another night she would have to wait, there was too much at stake for her to reveal herself now 'not to mention her' she looked back in the window 'she reminds me so much of her mother' she thought to herself as she looked at the clear night sky being ever since she had since she knew that it was only a matter of time one more night. "And then eclipse will open." she then looked back in the window, catching sight of Natsu, Gajeel, Wendy, and Meredy talking with each other it was enough for a smile to come to her face.

"What a day it is, folks. It's July sixth, the final day of the grand magic games," Lola shouted today. He was wearing a spiky-haired wig as he gave a wink "what a ride this year's games have been, and now the moment we've all been waiting for," he said as the crowd gave loud cheers as fireworks started to go off "filled with incredible magic and emotional moments that we will never forget" he shouted as the public gave even more deafening cheers "but today only one team will walk away from this game the victor, ladies and gentlemen it's been an honor going on this journey with you" he said "here with me is the esteemed Mr. Yajima" he said as the man smiled and nodded "and with us is a very special guess" Lola said "the grand magic games own mascot Mato" he said

"My pleasure," Yajima said

"Pumpkin," Mato said

"You usually down in the ring," Lola said, "but that won't be necessary today," Lola said

"of course not," Mato said, "because today we have something special planned," he said "now let's show off our competitors," Mato said, "each of these teams has shed blood, sweat, and tears to get this far," he said

"In sixth place are the hunting dogs turned tail chasers Quatro puppy," Lola said "these guys are ready to cause an upset today," Lola said as all six members of Quatro puppy came to the field.

"Bacchus and his team have indeed been on a losing streak this year," Yajima said, "but I'm sure that they can turn it around this time."

"Next up, we have the team that exudes class, and an excellent Parfum" Lola called "the trimens," Lola shouted Ichiya, Hibiki, Ren, Eve, Nichiya, and Jenny appeared from smoke, all doing their signature poses.

"They're currently in fifth place," Mato said, "but today they have the chance to grab the gold for victory."

"Next up, we have the lovely ladies known as the Nymph five," Lola said "what day it has been of these ladies will they be able to take the gold today," he asked as Kagura, Millianna, Beth, Risley, and Araña following them was Elena Alteria she smiled and waved as she passed the crowd today "I wonder how they will take this battle today"

"Hey, that's the chick that was standing guard with Riana on the first day," Laki said remembering her meeting with wizard saint

"Yeah I remember her," Elfman said I wonder what kind of magic she uses"

"They had a short stint in first place, but that draw they had yesterday didn't do them justice," Mato said, "but maybe they can turn it around today." he said as the crowd cheered "beneath the calm exterior of their leader Kagura Mikazuchi burns a fire of intensity."

"good luck ladies," Yajima said "give your all and I know you'll win this thing"

"Now tied for second place, we have the Ferrous Cinco," Lola shouted as Lyon, Jura, Sherry, Toby, Yuka, and Sherria walked on to the stage "will Lyon, who rivals fairy tails Gray in ice, make magic be able to bring the heat today."

"he's not alone," Mato said, "the wizard saint Jura is there to back them up," he said, "and the cute little god slayer Sherria is packing a few punches in her own right."

"Quite the line up if you ask me," Yajima said "this team is quite formidable," he said, "they could take the gold today if the other teams aren't too careful."

"Now Ferrous Cino isn't the only team in second place." Lola said, "and this is the big surprise of the game to see this team playing catch up, could this be the end of an era," Lola said as the crowd gave a loud cheer "Sting and Rogue have a bone to pick with Natsu and Gajeel after their crushing defeat yesterday," Lola said, "let's give it up the champions of the grand magic games, the Sabertooth tigers" he called as Minerva lead her team to field all of them silent under the watchful faze of their master whose stare was burning a hole into all their heads "what serious expressions." even their sixth member a lean young man with medium length spiky hair and is easily distinguished from the other members of his guild by the mask he wears, which obscures the lower half of his face. His dress sense is similar to that of a ninja, and he has Roman numerals tattooed on his fingers, ordered starting from I on his right little finger and X ending on his left little finger. his name was Dobengal

"They must realize what's on the line," Yajima said

"Keeping cool under pressure," Mato shouted

"Hey," someone said, "don't they usually have two cats rooting for them," he asked, gesturing to where Frosh stood alone, with Lector absent.

"Yeah, that is weird."

Sting sighed as he looked. "Lector," he thought to himself, "I swear, fairy tail is going to pay," he whispered.

"and now the team that won the hearts of our audience," Lola said, "they started at the bottom of the barrel and clawed their way to the top" he screamed as the crowd cheered "Let's give a warm welcome to our team in, first place the unsung heroes themselves Fairy tail" he shouted as Fairy tail came from the smoke the sixth member of their team is revealed to be Mira standing on the side of Natsu as they entered the ring a smile worked its way to Jura's face as everyone eyed fairy tail now.

"Those kids sure do have their work cut out for them," Yajima said, "now that there at the top they have to protect it now."

"These solo wizards have the backing of two of the ten wizard saints," Mato said, "so it's no surprise there so good," Mato said

"You hear that Maki," Cosmos said, leaning on the railing, "they think we have something to do with the monsters your mentor let out into the arena" this was enough to get a laugh out of Mavis. "I should be flattered."

"everyone's going to be gunning for them," Levy said, "you think they can handle this."

"of course," Lucy said "come on, those are the six strongest wizards we have," Lucy said

"Juvia's Gray will destroy all of the competition" Juvia screamed "cause he is amazing"

"Yeah, they're going to kick but and take names," Bisca said as she made finger guns, blowing them out "with both Natsu and Mira in the ring, it's only a matter of how long it will take," she said, giving a wink.

"Yeah, my bro and sis are real men," Elfman shouted

"Aye, sir," Happy said, "so let's cheer as hard as we can."

"You got that right Happy," Carla said, "we're all counting on you."

"Now strap in pumpkins there's a special arena for our final fight," Mato said "the entire city of Crocus itself"

"The teams are already spread throughout the battlefield," Lola said. "All members wander the streets, and if they encounter members of another guild, they are to fight. When participant loses consciousness or deemed unable to continue the battle, the opposing team scores one point."

"The team must elect one member to be the leader," Yajima said, "but there's a catch to this rule, the leader is worth five points." Yajima said "and there's also a backup leader as well, which will score you three points"

"Should the teams split up, or should they stick together," Mato said "what excellent battles will we see? I can't wait to find out."

"Alright guys," Natsu said, "we want nothing short of victory today."

"So, we stick to the strategy that Mavis set out for us," Mira finished, "for all our friends."

"it's the least we can do," Laxus said "after seven years, they deserve nothing less than our full one hundred percent," Laxus said

"we're taking them home," Gajeel said, "that's a promise."

"You can say that again," Gray said

"Alright," Lola called, "let the battle begin," he screamed as everyone cheered as the teams charged in, moving throughout the city "what an excellent day for a battle," Lola said as he corrected his tie, "wouldn't you agree."

"Yes," Yajima said, "and most of the teams have decided to split up," Yajima said, "which should make things interesting."

"Even the initially power Sabertooth tigers have decided to split up." Lola said, "they've gone into groups of two or three," Lola said, "what strategy will lead our teams to come out on top," Lola said

Rufus came to a stop as Ogra landed on a roof next to him "what's wrong" he asked.

"They're not moving," he said

"What," Lola said as he looked at team fairy tail, all of which had gone completely still? The entire audience was confused "team fairy tail appears to be just standing there," Lola said, "what kind of strategy could they be doing."

"What are they doing," Kinana asked

"Why are you asking me" Cana responded, "come on, get the lead out."

"What are they up to" Lucy wondered next to her. Mavis said nothing

"While fairy tail sticks to their bizarre strategy, two combatants have already found some targets," he said as Tobey and Yuka walked up to Nobarly

"Just my luck," Nobarly said, "I get stuck with two of them."

"You attack," Yuka said "I'll take away his magic,"

"You are leaving him to me," Tobey asked

"Stop whining," Yuka said as he got ready to fight "wave boost," he said as he trapped Nobarly.

"Wait, what" before he could move, Tobey was on top of him "my magic"

"{Jellyfish}" Tobey screamed as he attacked, defeating Nobarly as the crowd gave a loud cheer,

"And that's more pain for Quatro puppy," Lola said

"Just our luck," Hibiki said, "that we'd run across such lovely ladies."

"So, I assume you'll be gentlemen and surrender," Araña asked

"As Gentlemen, we won't go easy on you," Eve said "no hard feelings."

"don't be so cocky," Araña shouted as she shot her web attack as Rin jumped to the side.

"I beat you on the first day," Rin said, "and I won't lose to you now," Rin said

"{carrot attack}" Beth said as she dug underground. popping up to see Eve smiling at her

"No hard feelings," Eve said, winking at her as he shot his attack at her, striking both her and Araña into a wall knocking them out of the contest.

"And that's two more points for blue Pegasus." Lola said, "and the fairy tail team has yet to move an inch."

"What are you doing, playing statute move" Wakaba shouted

"This is getting stupid," Cana groaned "common on throw a spell," she shouted

"meanwhile, the Team Ferrous Cinco continues to hunt down the puppies," Lola said as Lyon had found Semmes instantly freezing him before he had time to even react behind him Jura and Jäger had faced off as the man rushed him only for him to end on the ground as Jura bowed his head before walking away Goldmine looked in horror as team Ferrous Cinco took his team down one by one.

"I'm not losing to a little girl," Warcry shouted as Sherria danced around him.

"Man," Sherria muttered. "I was hoping that I could settle the score with Wendy," she muttered as she went under him smiling "oh well, there's always next year," she said "{Sky gods: dance}" she said, taking down Warcry, destroying a part of the wall in the process.

"Man, they're pulling no punches," Macao muttered

"With Jura on their, team I'm not surprised." Wakaba muttered "how do we plan on dealing with that"

"With Jura and Lyon, they might as well give us the win," Yuka said

"Hey, Sherria is strong too," Tobey said

"You mad, bro," Yuka said as they stopped "you feel that," Yuka asked before long. He and Tobey were slammed into the ground.

"You sure sounded sure of yourself," Bacchus said

"looks like we found us a human wall of drunken furry," Lola said "looks like Quatro puppy is striking back," Lola said, "will Bacchus be able to carry his team to victory" Bacchus stumbled around before long Sting appeared, slamming him to the ground as well "and Sting has appeared" Lola called "with one blow Sabertooth gains five points," Lola said "with that, they are now tied with fairy tail with fifty-one points," Lola said "maybe that will get them to move"

"As it should be," Minerva said, "whatever mind game fairy tail is playing won't work on us."

"Looks like Rocker is in quote the bind as we'll," Yajima said as Millianna appeared, having Rocker tied up in her kitten tubes. She smiled as she started to leave "that kitty is truly top dog."

"And with that, Quatro puppy is out of the games." Lola said, "only two points that have gotta hurt the pride a bit," he muttered, "I didn't expect those two teams to catch up so quickly."

"Better luck next year," Yajima said

"Free pumpkins for all of you," Mato said

"Though the scores are changing at dizzying speeds, team fairy tail has yet to move from their starting point," Lola said, "what crazy strategy are they planning."

"Have they forgotten what's at stake for them right now" Makarov shouted, finally getting annoyed at the fact the team hasn't moved?

"no," Mavis said, finally speaking up, "in fact, with everything we have at stake, we need to keep a calm, rational mind," Mavis explained "over the course of the past four days, I have watched our opponents closely," she said "I have seen their strengths, weakness, and magic," Mavis said "and I have committed them to memory" she explained "and as such I have gone over millions of calculations."

"How many," Macao asked

" a million," Wakaba said, dazed, "crazy."

"And so far, all my predictions have been made clear," Mavis said, a smirk growing on her face as Makarov and Cosmos looked in awe at the girls planning in the arena team fairy tail had readied their stances finally opening their eyes "I then relayed this information to our team," she said

"Wait when," Wendy said

"Last night," Mavis answered, "leading my comrades to guaranteed victory," Mavis said, "that is how a tactician wages war."

"Wage war, you say," Makarov muttered.

"When did we go to war" Cosmos whispered to Lucy, who shrugged.

"Now we may begin," Mavis said

"Right," Natsu said, "operation fairy stars are ago," he screamed as his team started to move.

"Finally," Lola said, "looks like team fairy tail is going into action," Lola said

"Now everyone, move to your designated coordinates," Natsu said as they started to split up.

"I see you," Rufus said, smiling. He had been keeping tabs on fairy tail, waiting for them to move so he may strike them down. "I'm going to remove you as a headache," Rufus said 'and that will land me with master's praise.' He said, "{memory make: night of falling stars}" he said

"Is that" Lola asked?

"Yes," Yajima said, "he used that attack on the first day of the games."

"that's the spell that took out Gray on the first day," Droy said "how are they going to dodge it moves so fast"

"They have a two-second window of opportunity," Mavis said "they must evade the moment the light is overhead," she explained as everyone did exactly as she said they would

"You think we'd fall for the same trick twice," Gray shouted

"Seeing as they're the same element, Laxus can absorb the attack," she said as he started to eat the lighting.

"Hey that feels kinda nice," Laxus said

"What," Rufus said in shock that his attack missed, "that's impossible."

"there's a sixty-eight percent chance that Rufus will leave his current position and engage one of our members directly," Mavis said "however if he doesn't. It poses little threat to our overall strategy."

"What got into her" Macao asked

"I don't even know," Wakaba said

"what's operation fairy stars," Lucy asked

"She lost me after a two-second window," Happy said as Lily nodded in agreement.

"All I got from that was that Mavis is an egg head," Cana muttered

"Yeah," Wendy said in agreement

"Approaching the north, Erza will come across another contestant," Mavis said as Erza ran across Jenny.

"Oh no, not her," Jenny said "strategic withdrawal," she said as she ran away only for Erza to appear in front of her "oh shit," was all Jenny was able to mutter out before Erza had knocked her down.

"Going south, Gajeel will encounter the trimens all which wished to track him down," Mavis said as Gajeel landed on top of Eve.

"No one said anything about an ambush," Eve muttered.

"that's the way the cookie crumbles, kid," Gajeel said

"Hibiki get out of here," Rin said

"You are sure," Hibiki asked

"I'm positive," Rin said "now go," he shouted, only to be slammed into the wall by Gajeel.

"come on man," Gajeel said "the hero stuff won't work here pretty boy," Gajeel said

"I don't get it," Hibiki said "do you guys have someone who can out calculate my archive magic," he asked.

"how'd you guess," Gray asked as he caught him "{ice make: geyser}" he shouted, trapping Hibiki in ice scoring his team one point.

"And with those leaves," Natsu stopped when Nichiya landed in front of him only for the dragon slayer to punch him hard in the face "no hard feelings" he screamed as he slammed the exceed into the ground

"wow" Lola muttered after seeing fairy tails display of power, "you think that waiting at the beginning was them giving the other teams a head start," he asked nervously to his co-host

"with those kids, you never know," Yajima said trying to suppress his laugh

"Our game plan is set," Mavis said, "there is no room for error; victory is ours."

"So, this how fairy tail remains seven stops ahead," Cosmos asked to which Makarov nodded.
