Komushi has the habit of drinking water a little past midnight. Sleepily, he walks to the kitchen only to jump at the chakra signature, then he relaxes upon recognizing it was Sasori. What the hell was Sasori doing in his kitchen?!

"Komushi." The red head greeted, sitting on one chair at the 4- seater dining table in his kitchen.

"Yo." He greeted back. "It's 2:00 in the morning, buddy, what's up?"

"The ceiling."

"Wonderful, you're in the mood for telling terrible jokes. That usually mean you got a problem."

"..."

"Well?" He prodded, sitting himself across his friend.

"I'm thinking whether we're friends or not."

"Are you having insecurities with our friendship right now? We're long past that phase that it should've happened, Sasori."

"No. I'll never have insecurities with our friendship... or non-friendship."

"I'm pretty sure we're friends Sasori, you're in my kitchen at 2 AM"

"I've been ruminating, Hatsue has been my first friend since we were eight years of age. it's not farfetched to say my friendship with her is the basis of my friendship with anyone else."

"Okay?"

"There are differences between my friendship with you in comparison to my friendship with hers."

"Glad you noticed."

"I spend most of my time with her compared to you. And maybe it is because she's the first friend I have, therefore I placed more value in her company than yours."

"I really need tea for this." Komushi grabs a mug with hot water in it and dips a teabag in it. Peppermint. "So what's wrong with that?"

"I find myself wanting her company especially when she's not with me."

Sluuuuuuurp. Tea.

"Which doesn't happen with you."

Sluuuuuuurp. "Well, I think I should be offended, Sasori, that you don't find my company enjoyable enough to seek it but I'm not. So, do you want me to say it in simpler words?"

"..."

"You miss her."

"Because she's my friend."

"But you don't miss me."

"And thus my conclusion: we're not friends, Komushi."

"Oh, Kami ." The dark haired boy dropped his head on his right palm.

"It's a logical conclusion."

"There is one more logical conclusion for this. You like like her."

"I don't like her."

"Sure, keep telling yourself that."

"Maybe I, as you said, miss her because she's like family: a sister."

"Of course, I'm missing sleep just to watch you be in denial."

"..."

"I have enough of your denial in daylight, keep it away from my sleeping hours. Listen, you can't say she's like a sister, you don't have a basis for that."

"But she's like family."

"Yes, she is. But sisters don't spend 16 hours of their day with their brothers if they can help it. You don't miss sisters like you do with Hatsue."

"...Komushi."

"What."

"You're an only child. You don't know what you're talking about."

"Okay, that's it. I'm going back to sleep, feel free to sit in my kitchen in the dark."

"... Are you mad?"

"No, I'm just losing sleep."

"You said we're friends but you're going to sleep."

"...I hate you." Komushi sits back down.

"Back on the topic, how do you know she's not a sister to me when you don't have a sister to base your statement?"

"Kami, what did I do to deserve this?"

Cancer (cover) by Johnny Goth

The original is by My Chemical Romance

I highly recommend to listen to both versions but for this POV scenario please listen to the cover, set the volume very low.

POV: Your comfort character confronts you

You were lying on your bed in the dark with only the glare from the screen of your phone as your light. You felt a sudden presence in your room.

"Not real, not real. Not real. " You chanted fervently.

"Now, you're just hurting my feelings." Your favorite character mocked, he tilted his head and it still does funny things in your stomach.

"Stop please, stop appearing before me. I'm trying to forget you. I'm trying to grow up." You say, you reached out to turn on the lamp by your bedside but you don't because you don't want him to go, he's not real you say but you don't want him to go. Turning on the lamp will just break your heart because he's not there.

"Why? Why are you trying to forget me? You like me ." He asks, angrily. He couldn't comprehend, how could he? He belongs in a different universe, and you need to enter society.

"Because you're not real. You're just a character." You say to his silhouette.

"I like you-"

" You don't - How can you? I don't exist in your world, like you don't exist in mine." You choked a sob, your head feels like bursting from the bottled up emotions you've been keeping.

"I'm real just-"

"You're not."

"I'm real as long as you keep believing in me. I'll find a way, please." There was a crack in his voice, a small tremor. He relived his story a thousand times in order to cross the threshold of yours and his universe. He could never stay. That was the problem; he can see a glimpse of your world and you to his but he can never stay. All he has is the precious stolen moments in the dark, at midnight after reliving his canon story. It was a blessing. A curse. He could see you, know you and fall in love with you but never stay.

"I'm growing older. You stay the age as you are. I need to forget you . I won't have time to... I don't even know, see you? watch you? Please, leave." You cry, the sharp ache on your chest tells you that your feelings are real but it's not enough for the validity of his existence.

His silhouette moves to turn on the lamp. Click. And you give him a heartbreaking smile. Tearing up at his beautiful appearance, and it's not solely about his face that made you fall in love with him. It was his personality, attitude and character that you found all so charming. He could have the plainest face and that wouldn't change the fact that you like him so much that it hurt. Trying to be an adult, trying to forget him felt like stabbing your heart, twisting it and bending the point of the knife into a hook so the pain stays there.

He kneels on your bed, his face comes closer and he brushes your cheek gently, drawing circles with his forefinger on the nape of your neck.

You feel the ghost of his breath.

He exhales the very breath you inhale.

You open your eyes. He's gone.

It was better that way. The haunting ache eats your being like it always does. You noticed that he played the song on your phone: "Cancer"

and the lyrics go

I will not kiss you

'Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you

Song Advisement:

Dandelions by Ruth B

POV: You are Hatsue in this story. You are going home after coming back from the war. You see Sasori in the distance, in the midst of a prairie field. You run to him.

"I've been waiting, you know I hate it." He turned his eyes towards you, pinning you in place.

You know he only has two emotions in canon: apathy and impatience. But you changed it. You changed his story.

"I'm sorry." You say, watching him carefully, you can't believe the scene before you, the purple hues on the sky, the brushing leaves, his hair flowing and you feel a sharp ache in your chest. How is it possible to love someone who doesn't exist so much that it hurts? It ached. Now, even moreso, because having no chance due to him being in a different plane of universe is far kinder than being rejected by him. He's a vision. And you love him.

He moves towards you and stops, an arm away from you.

"I hate waiting but I can be patient." He's still keeping his eyes on you then furrowed his brows, in concentration, one of the surprising changes in the story. "I don't mind waiting as long as you show up. As long as your promise is kept. I'll remain here until you find yourself back to me."

You felt yourself move before your thoughts could dwell on it. You embraced him. You finally forgave yourself for changing things. You accepted that you were a ripple in an alternate reality and succeeded in saving one of the most tragic characters in your favorite series.

"Thank you for waiting." You took a deep breath to calm your nerves and yet you feel your legs tremble. "I think you know so I'll say it. I like like you. For awhile now."

His drowsy look changed into wonder, half lidded eyes into wide eyed now, and painfully beautiful when his mouth stretched into a smile. He laughed.

"I share the same sentiments. However, I feel like I have liked you long before I met you." He says, tightening his arms around you.

This time it was your turn to laugh. Because it was a line that best describes you. You have loved him long before you met him. He broke the preconceived image of him in you, and you found yourself falling for real, for a person, not just a character. When the laughter subsided, the wind whistled in your ears and you gazed into his eyes, as he slowly leaned in, you thought that for every character out there who was fated to be tragic, there exists an alternate universe where they found themselves changing, a savior or just a simple someone to be there, just like the world you are in now.

Yours and his lips met.

Finally, a happy ending for the both of you.You made it home.

Author's note:

Two days left til my exams are over. The Komushi and Sasori scene that I wrote is finally here. I really want to hurry up and finish the war arc but I'm out of writing juice. The POV about you being Hatsue is not a spoiler, her homecoming will be very different. I just wrote that as a youtube comment as Erica Kate, so if you see it, don't worry, it's me. The POV scenarios are a result of unhealthy amount of listening to POV: comfort character playlists.

To carolinamaiah

Thank you for wishing me luck for my exams! Also glad you were able to survive the antibiotics. Hope you don't experience it again. Thank you for appreciating the details of the previous chapter. I noticed Konoha has only been superior in medicine because of their jutsu and because of Tsunade but Suna should also have their own strong points in medicine because they deal with poisons and venoms alot. Especially the part when Kankuro was poisoned by Sasori in canon and was healed by Sakura, it made it feel like Suna's medicine is incompetent when it shouldn't. And yeah, the friendliness between the villages will still take time, I mean the war isn't over yet. Although yes, Suna is helping Konoha because Iwa is too close to their village and Iwa becoming too strong will no doubt conquer Suna and they'll be forced to be cannon fodders for Iwa's war but Konoha citizens don't know that. They just know that they're trying to be allies with Suna but there is mistrust between the village. Thank you for reading. I will try to upload a new chapter on Sunday morning Pacific Standard Time.

FANFIC SUGGESTION:

I binge read Ignite (Bakugou x OC) by thebonggirll

Read her work and leave a review, gosh I felt so giddy reading her fanfic and for a 42 chapter story, 30 reviews does not do her work justice. So anyone who's a Boku no Hero Academia fans, go ahead and read it. It's so effing sweet. It makes me wanna quit writing and binge read more fanfics. Legit it's the reviews that makes authors update, in my case, as long as I find one review after my recent update, I will update.
