It's been a long journey since we began this saga throughout the past few months. from the battle over the clock piece to the rediscovery of the long lost fairy tail wizards, the grand magic games, and the battle for the eclipse gate, our heroes have come a long way, and the battle is finally over, and they are earning their reward of finally earning back their home no let's witness the thrilling conclusion of a fairy tail re-told
A Saturday upload: I know the right first time for everything, but I forgot to upload yesterday, so anyway, here you go. I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Fun fact: Meredy was going to originally be an Ice dragon slayer to the point that I had started writing the first chapter; for those that don't know, Gray, at some point, might have become an ice dragon slayer. I also would have had her learn Ice make magic over the seven-year gap.

The morning sun rose on Crocus as people went about their day-to-day lives in the city. The dragons' attack and the games are becoming distant memories in the honey bone when we find our heroes finally waking from a well-deserved slumber. Wendy sat up, looking around as she let a yawn. The snores of her teammates were slowly becoming routine for her, and it scared her but also reassured her that this wasn't all a dream that she was going home today. She smiled as she stood going up to Natsu before slapping him on the cheek one time.
"Come on, Natsu," she said, "wake up" a part of her felt twelve again when she would go into his or Mira's room asking the pair to wake up for breakfast cause she was a hungry and growing girl.
"five more minutes, kid," Natsu said, turning over
"Aye," Happy said
"we're going to be late," Wendy said
"we're always late," Natsu said, turning over and pulling the covers as Happy shifted.
"Come on, Natsu," Wendy said, "you know that we probably won't see her for a long time after this is all said and done." Wendy frowned "and you and I both know she like seeing you the most."
"Man," Natsu muttered as he started to sit up, looking around and seeing the resting forms of Erza, Gray, and Lucy "give me a sec, kid," he said, rubbing his eye, "got to get dressed."
Out in the city, we find Meredy sitting at a small café. She had made it a point to come here every year she came to Crocus though usually, she came with Ultear. At this time, the knights weren't active; that would be different this year Ultear wouldn't be joining them.
"some more coffee for you, miss," a waitress asked
"Yes," Meredy said, "thank you."
"Did you sleep with all the craziness the other night," she asked
"Yeah," Meredy answered, "like a baby."
"The grand magic games were amazing this year," she said, "but I wished Mermaid heel had won," she sighed, "we were so close."
"Yes," Meredy laughed, "maybe next year," she said
"Who were you rooting for," she asked, "if you don't mind me asking."
"Oh me," Meredy said as she looked at Rossello, "I think we were rooting for fairy tail this year," she said, "Those wizards and I have history."
Homecoming
"Thank you for coming out, guys," Meredy said as they walked through the streets, "but isn't this a little much."
"Naw," Gajeel said, "just want to make sure you're alright."
"Yeah," Wendy said before she tripped and fell on to be caught by someone, "oh, thank you."
"Ground isn't as easy as it looks," he said
"Wait, aren't you the announcer guy," Wendy said, "wait, don't tell me, Lola, right."
"That be me," he said
"Wow," Happy said, "it's good to see you."
"you guys were in the grand magic games, right," Lola said "it was nice to see you this year," he smiled. "I am on my way to my next gig."
"Wow, you must travel a lot," Carla asked.
"Well, it is nice," Lola said. "I get to see new places and meet many people," he said, "it's nice."
"I guess you could say that," Natsu said as they waved him goodbye "we really should be getting back.
"Yeah," Wendy said as she turned to Meredy, "see ya later."
"Be safe," Natsu added
"No promises," Meredy said
"You did well, my fledglings," a voice rang in their heads again as they all turned to see far into the crowd. A hooded figure was standing there, her cape blowing in the wind. It was Anna. Though they couldn't make out her face as a mask covered it, they could see the slight sting of blond hair. Still, they could notice that Obra had climbed on her shoulder "you have made your parents proud," the voice rang into their heads again as the crowd went around her as she vanished again.
"That was," Natsu said
"She was the person that attacked us on the third day," Wendy muttered, "didn't Riana say that was one of the ten wizard saints." Wendy asked, "or is that future Lucy."
"No, the presence of Zeref is gone," Meredy muttered "who is that," she asked.
"No idea," Gajeel said, "but she seemed so"
"Familiar."
[##momentary peace##]
Gray smiled as Erza and Lucy had finished getting ready "you guys ready to head back."
"Yes," Erza said, "Mavis went ahead earlier," Erza said, "she was ready to get back to Magnolia," she said
"I'm surprised you didn't go with her," Lucy said "second daughter," Lucy said, making Erza blush Mavis had announced that Erza would become the second daughter, effectively making her one of the children of Magnolia, giving her the same authority that Natsu and Mira held "you'll make us proud Erza."
"I hope so," Erza said "did Natsu and Mira go with her"
"No," Gray said, "from what I hear, Mira is still in town," he said, "and Natsu and Wendy went out this morning," he said "there probably getting one last look around town," he said
"I wish we could stay longer," Lucy said
"Yes," Erza said, "it feels like we've been here forever."
"I think some people are still up partying," Lucy muttered
"You know who still up drinking is," Gray said he was referring to Cana, who had managed to drink half the kingdom under the table all in training so that she could take on Bacchus. It was a draw for those of you wondering
"Um, Guys," Wendy's voice ran out, "you should come to look at this."
"As everyone came outside, they saw Natsu and Wendy failing smiles as she gestured to a luxury carriage parked in front of their inn.
"We get to travel back to magnolia in style," Happy said
" a little gift from the kingdom," Cosmos said, "my treat" she then looked at Natsu and Wendy here were still faking smiles
"The men have no fashion sense," Carla said, "so I assume you and Kamika picked this out."
"Hey," Kama shouted, "I have great fashion sense."
"Yeah, we did," Cosmos said, "and no offense, sir, but you look like a discount grim reaper."
"The only reason you're saying that," Kama said," is because your friends are here."
"Yep, and you're scared to death of them," she said, "and aren't you forgetting something."
"I was getting to that," he said as Cosmos glared at him. "Natsu dragneel," he said. "I wanted to make peace from what happened during our fight," he said. "I hear I brought up some painful memories for you," he said. "I wanted to apologize."
"it's no problem, man," Natsu said "bygones."
"Thank you," he said. "I hope you have an easy trip home."
"I wouldn't say easy," Gray laughed.
"Right, luxury ride for us," Lucy muttered, "moving death trap for them."
"they'll be fine," Happy said. "Wendy has a spell that can keep them from hurling up their breakfast."
"Umm," Wendy said, "about that." she placed her hands together. "Carla was right. We've used that spell so much it no longer affects our bodies," she said, "we've adapted to it," she said, "and even if I could between the games, the knights and the dragons, I'm wasted when it comes to magic power."
"Yeah," Natsu said, "we don't got squat going for us in the magic department."
"don't worry," Cosmos said. "I packed you all some barf bags."
"Motions sickness, huh," Kama muttered, "that is an interesting weakness."
"Shut up," Natsu and Wendy shouted.
"In any case," Cosmos said, "I'll miss you guys," she said "this past week has been fun," she said
"oh," Lucy said as she hugged Cosmos, "we'll miss you too," she said "be sure to come and visit," Lucy said, "you're always welcome in magnolia," she said, "right guys."
"yep," Natsu said
"oh guys," Cosmos said, tears in her eyes. She smiled as her friend climbed into the carriage. She waved goodbye as she saw Natsu and Wendy fall over. Seconds later, the pair had fallen over as Erza and Gray sighed.
"I said you two should've just hoofed it home," Gray said
"Erza, it's your turn," Lucy said, "he threw it up in my lap last time."
"I'll handle Wendy," Gray said as they went, the dragon slayers doing their best to comfort them. While they did tease them about it, they completely understood that this was something they couldn't control, so if anything, they did their best to make the trip a little easier on them. They found out that laying them down seems to help out a bit, but with that came the added risk of them throwing up in their laps but for the slight chance of their friends getting some kind of comfort on their trips, it was worth Lucy smiled as Natsu and Wendy let out groans of pain as she turned back.
"Goodbye Crocus"
"I can't even smell her," Meredy whispered. She then looked at Jellal "you okay."
"Yes," Jellal said, "Lucy destroyed the eclipse gate, the dragons and dragon slayers returned to the past, and the future Lucy and Rogue returned to their future," he said, "whatever that may be"
"Or they ceased to exist," Meredy said, "let's hope that was the outcome."
"We can't say," Jellal told her, "I thought with the destruction of the eclipse gate, everything would revert to normal," he sighed, "but time has been turned on its head," he said "the magic council most certainly know about the royal family dabbling with black magic, this is what wars are built on" he stopped when he turned to see Dornbolt walking up to the pair.
"cross-check with the previous days of current magic activity," Lahar said, "see if there are any sparks in magic."
"Lahar," a voice called. He turned to see Org walking up to him "you did great work on your survey of the grand magic games," he said
"I was just glad to be part of the festivities," Lahar admitted
"I hear the games put the king's love for wizards on prominent display," Org asked
"Yes, it was," Lahar said
"They also say that king ended the games with massive illusions of dragons," Org asked.
"Dornbolt saw that," Lahar said, "I had unfortunately already fallen asleep."
"If only these other bull-headed council members could have seen it," Org said. "I would have loved to see the look on their faces." he laughed, "though you should have seen the look on their faces when I told them fairy tail won."
"I take the chairmen wasn't too happy about that," Lahar asked
"not in the slightest," Org told him, "but little we can do, only wait and see."
Dornbolt, Jellal, and Meredy had made their way out of the city, "so you erased the council's memory," Jellal asked.
"Yep," Dornbolt said, "it never happened as far as they're concerned."
"I had no idea you were capable of that," Jellal said
"tools of the trade," Dornbolt told him "the eclipse gate is a pulled directly from the pages of the books of Zeref," Dornbolt said "if the public knew, there would be mass panic," he said, "and the last thing we need is a revolution" he laughed "it goes against values, but it was the only way I could see this ending peacefully." he sighed, "and I had to tell the royal family to keep this on the hush-hush."
"And Lahar," Jellal asked.
"That guy," Dornbolt chuckled, "he's the council's rising star," he laughed "he doesn't belong down in the mud with the rest of us," he said
"For a member of the magic council," Jellal said, "you like to do things your way."
"weren't you a full-fledged member," Dornbolt asked. He then looked to Meredy. "Everything okay with her"
"Yes," Jellal said, "Ultear just well just say she gave up a lot for this fight."
"I see," Dornbolt said, "well, you have my condolences for your loss."
"Thanks," Meredy said
Dornbolt sighed as he started to leave. "I must be going soft if I'm worried about people like you," he whispered "we never met, okay," he said, "but you owe me, Jellal," he said, "remember that."
"of course," Jellal said
"One more thing," Meredy asked. "Cobra," she asked, "what happened to him."
"He walked straight back to prison," Dornbolt said
Flashback
"You seem quiet," Dornbolt asked
"Nothing," Cobra said, "just taking in all the sweet voices," he said, "I can even hear Cubellios out there," he laughed, "but now I want the old peace and quiet," he said, walking away 'so I get to busting out the seis" he laughed.
"Did you hear anything," Dornbolt "? What was it?"
"The gate to the netherworld is about to open."
End Flashback
"That was all he said to me," Dornbolt said. "I don't know what it means though"
"I do," Meredy said "the netherworld," she said, "that's the dark guild," she said, "Tartaros."
"Are you sure?" Dornbolt asked. She nodded "well, stay safe out there, and if you hear anyone see to that, you pass that information to me, okay."
"Sure," Jellal said as he vanished.
"Meredy," Rossello asked, "are you sure you're okay."
"Yeah," Meredy said, "just ready to get this mission over with," she said, "it's been a long week."
"I'll hear that," Jellal said "come on, Ultear didn't give her life so we could mope around," Jellal said
"You think that Tartaros will make a move," Rossello asked
"Yeah," Meredy said, "we need to be ready."
[## Nostalgic scene ost or Road to tomorrow ost##]
"Man, I didn't expect the road to be this bumpy," Natsu groaned
"my stomach hates me," Wendy groaned out
"Quit being such a baby," Gray said, leaning against the rock Natsu and Wendy were lying on
"The road is kinda bumpy," Happy said
"we'll be home before ya know it," Lucy said
"Man, it's good to be able to say that," Wendy said. "I wonder how much Magnolia has changed," Wendy said "how much I've changed," she said. "I remember going through the streets thinking that it was so big," she said "now," she smiled, "I've changed so much."
"I mean, there's nothing wrong with change, kid," Natsu said
"Yeah," Lucy said, "I mean, growing up is part of life," Lucy said, "and don't worry, Wendy," she said, "no matter how big you get, you'll always be our little girl," she said as Wendy turned over trying to hide her blush
"Even so, it feels like we haven't been in magnolia forever," Happy said. "The first thing I want to do is get some of the fish from the east forest."
"I just want to relax for a change," Lucy said "hopefully, we can get our old apartment back," Lucy said, "All this has inspired me, so there might be some writing in my future," Lucy said
"I know Mavis is going to have Mira and me working on getting Magnolia up to par again," she said "the pub has fallen apart," he laughed, "which means paperwork."
"doesn't Levy handle that stuff," Wendy asked.
"Yeah, but we still have to look it over," Natsu said
"you've been quiet," Carla said
"Oh, just working on a drawing for some custom armor," Erza said as she showed a poorly drawn image "it combines fitness with power, what do you think."
"It looks nice," Carla muttered.
[## drops of time ost##]
"Hey, Natsu," Gray said, his voice taking a different tone, "I asked you about that thing."
"You already know the answer, man," Natsu said, "when we get home, I'll get everything set up for you."
"Really," Gray said
"Hey," Natsu said, "that's one thing I don't joke about."
"Yeah," Gray said, "thanks" he looked away, "she deserves it."
"What are you guys talking about" Lucy asked
"Is everything okay?" Carla said
"At the end of the battle," Gray asked, "did you guys get a sense of Deja vu."
"Well yeah," Lucy said, "I was running through the streets," Lucy said, "then for some reason, I saw myself getting attacked."
"Aye"
"I thought it to be my premonition, but Happy, Lily, and Rossello saw it too," Carla said
"That was Ultear," Natsu said "it wasn't a premonition. It happened," he said, "she cast a spell called Last ages," he said, "it rewound time for one minute."
"That was nice of her," Lucy said, "wait."
"There's always a price, Lucy," Wendy said, "and the price she paid was her life," Wendy said, "she died after casting the spell."
"I see," Lucy said
"Gray," Erza said
"It's fine," Gray said, choking on his words, "she always told me that" he stopped "that every conversation could be our last, but I didn't expect it to happen so soon."
"We owe a lot to Ultear," Erza said "she saved our lives and gave us the time we needed," Erza whispered. "I am sorry for your loss, Gray."
"Like I said," Gray said, "I'm fine," he laughed, "but you know it's the second time both mother and daughter sacrificed themselves to save my life" he laughed. He then felt a hand on his shoulder. "I just wish," Gray said, "that I could have shown her the light."
"you did, Gray," Natsu said "why do you think she made that sacrifice," he said "because she met you," Natsu said, "because you sealed away her darkness," he said, "and you were able to help her walk the right path," he said, "because you were her little brother," he said
"Ur was not my mom, ya know," Gray said
"And," Natsu said, "if Mira, Elfman, and I are anything to go by," he said, "you don't need to be blood to be family."
"Yeah, your right," Gray says, standing up "come on, I'm bored," he said, "I'm ready to get home."
"Gray," a voice called, making him stop, "you know I always cursed my lot in life; I blamed the world for all the troubles that I had, for the roads I didn't travel" Gray turned around he saw her Ultear smiling at him "but thanks you, I gained a new lease on life, I learned to move on and let the past go, you saved me, Gray," she said "never forget that," she said as her mother Ur walked next to her "and I merely returned the favor. because thanks to you I was finally able to let go, I was finally able to find true happiness" she turned, changing into a child as she grabbed her mother's hand "hopefully in the next life," Ultear said, "you and I will still be family."
"Thank you, Gray," Ur's voice came, "thank you for saving her; now I can finally be with her" she smiled "you and Lyon take care of each other; I love you both," she turned as they walked away, disappearing in the wind.
"Gray," Natsu asked
"You alright," Happy asked
"Yeah," Gray said smiling, "never felt better."
"let's get home."

Levy, Cana, Elfman, and Laki had arrived; however, the public froze when Laxus appeared from the carriage, only to cheer louder as he looked up, shocked at his reception at being back in Magnolia.
"Welcome home, big guy," someone shouted.
"it's about time," another guy cheered " you were awesome out there."
"let's hear it for fairy tail, "Makarov called. "They came; they saw they conquered the grand magic games."
"Did you plan this" Natsu asked
"Not at all," Mavis said "just take it," Mavis said, "they're so glad to see you all again in one piece anyway."
I'm back where I belong; yeah, I never felt so strong (yeah)

"Look at what we got," Natsu shouted "a big shiny cup," he screamed as the crowd cheered.
"The best moment was definitely when fairy tail took on the five hundred monsters."

"Yeah, now this is a homecoming," Gajeel said, "feels good to be back."
"You can say that again," Lily said
"we're finally home, Kinana," Wendy said as she wiped her tears "it feels so good to be back."
"You can say that again, Wendy," Kinana said as she wiped her tears
"Hold it up higher, Romeo," Natsu said
"Yeah, it's going way up," Romeo shouted
"Thank you, Mr. mayor," Mavis said
"of course," the mayor said, "I hope the journey home wasn't too hard on you all."
"No," Mavis said, "it feels good to be back."
"Yes," the mayor said, "you and your children will always be the pride of magnolia and our sacred protectors."

as the crowd broke up, Lucy Erza and gray saw their old landlady getting ere attention "would you kids mind coming with me" she said as she led them to their old apartment
" Wow," Lucy shouted, "it's just how we left it"
"How did this happen," Gray said
"We haven't made payments in seven years," Erza said, "and a few months."
"There was an express payment that went down," the landlady said. "Holding it over until next month," she said, "I thought you knew about that."
"Who could have," Gray asked as Lucy looked at a letter with a few presents
"Those also arrived on the same day every year," she said
Lucy overlooked the letter she smiled; in the end, he did care for her
"Thank you, daddy."

"Take a look at the girl of your dreams," Juvia said "this is Juvia 2. O" she then tried to jump into Gray's arms, only for him to move to the side.
"Well, this is the new and improved me," Gray said, "and I'm not afraid to say what I'm thinking," he said
"Meaning," Juvia asked as Gray picked her up.
"And Gray thinks," he said, smiling at her, "Juvia is just fine the way she is" he smiled at her as Juvia blushed. "there's no way for her to improve."
"Oh, Gray," she screamed, "I'm falling in love with you all over again," she cried, hugging him.
"Come on," Gray said. "I owe you a bite anyway," he said

"Yeah," Mira said as she picked up some wood "well, we should get started on fixing it up," she said

"Yeah," Wendy said, "let's go," she screamed as she ran in
"kids" Mira laughed
"You better not be talking," Mavis said as they walked to the building. The wizards got to work on rebuilding the pub, working together as they always did to make this place a home for them and any solo wizards out there that needed space to find work and make a living for themselves.
"We should add a bigger bar," Cana said
"No," Miko told her
"Please," Cana said
"No Cana," came the voice of Natsu and Mira
"Here, let me help you that," Laxus said as he picked up some wood. He smiled behind him. The thunder legion had also begun to help as well.
"Feels good to be home."
"Yes," Freed said, "it is good to have you back, Laxus."
Lot of fights, lot of scars, lot of bottles

"Alright, sweetie," Bisca said above them. Mavis smiled as she watched the setting sun. She then felt the presence of Natsu and Mira turning around. She smiled at them as they sat next to her.
"Is everything okay?" she asked
"Yeah," Mira said
"We just wanted to listen to the cities pulse," Natsu told her
"You can hear it best at night," Mira said, "when our people are asleep" she smiled
"Yes," Mavis said, "it is a lovely thing."

Our hero's adventures in Crocus have come to an end, and they have finally returned home to Magnolia, and peace seems to have returned to the land of Fiore. I hope you all enjoyed the X791 saga. It's been a long journey for our heroes, but tell me which arc was your favorite now. I think I've deserved a well long break. At least this time, this is a pretty good ending point if I don't end up updating for a while, but that's neither here nor there. Besides, by the time you guys get this, I will have either A published at least one new story or B have brought friendship, family, love, and the Fairy tail to at least thirty chapters, or C vanished from the face of the earth aside from updates or D all of the above.
