Hey, fairy tail fans, and welcome back to a fairy tail re-told now. I did take a nice long break, and while I was writing this, I did do everything I said in the last chapter, so the answer to the previous question was D, but that's not here nor there what you want is more fairy tail, and now today we are starting the long-awaited netherworld saga. Whether or not I continue the story after this is honestly up for debate but not important, and like when we began the rise of the dark guild saga, we're starting with our characters in downtime, so think of this as a prologue cause these few chapters and next arc have nothing to do with the main point of the story, but it makes excellent filler. A little nugget of advice, don't be afraid to show your characters in downtime. Remember, it shows that they have lives outside of the main story.

With the conclusion of the grand magic games, the land of Fiore has been restored to relative peace as heroes have finally been able to return home and regain their everyday lives. Finally able to bring their friends back home, our heroes have gotten ready to get back to their routine. today we find Natsu visiting the gravesite of an old friend and having a conversation that he felt was long overdue, which in the end, he wanted to do alone without Wendy, Happy, or even Mira, just him and his best friend, just like how things used to be

Natsu smiled as he placed the flower he had brought from Crocus in the jar that Wendy had left. Being sure to gently take out the ones she had left and put them in separate pots, he smiled as he poured drinks and placed one on Lisanna's grave and sat down in a chair, looking in the distance. "I know, I know," Natsu finally started. "I said I'd visit you more," he laughed "things have been so hectic since the last time we spoke," he laughed, stopping to imagine her response to what he said.
'it's still no reason for you to be gone for so long,' she would say, 'poor Wendy having to visit me all by herself.' she would look at him with those concerned eyes, 'she was so sad.'
"Yeah, that was my fault," Natsu muttered "you see, when we are trying to find a replacement for Mystogen Grimoire heart attacked," Natsu laughed, "during all the fighting, Mavis got injured, I" he stopped his mind going to his fight with Meredy "I learned some things about myself" he laughed "then that dragon that kicked Gildarts ass came, and we got trapped on the Island for seven-years" he smiled as he took another sip of his drink.
'So, you were trapped on an Island."
"then we came back," Natsu said, "we had lost everything," Natsu said, "Magnolia, the pub," he smiled, "but we met a lovely lady Miko. She gave us a place to stay," he laughed "so we had to participate in these grand magic games then more dragons attacked" he laughed "Meredy even helped us with that" he laughed.
'Right the Crime Sorcière girl'
"Yeah," Natsu said, "she's a dragon slayer like me," Natu said. "I think you would have liked her," he smiled. Natsu sighed "well, that's all that's going on in the world right now," Natsu muttered as he leaned back in his chair. He laughed as he finished his drink and sat up, "and I visited that place" he smiled as the wind blew "yeah, where I got the flowers," he smiled.
"Made me think of you."
Kinana's first big job
"Magnolia smells different," Wendy muttered.
"I think you're just so used to shirotsume," Kinana told her, "It smells fine."
"Looks like being a devil doesn't give you good senses," Wendy said as they approached the newly recreated pub, a smile coming to her face. The place looked in better condition than it did when they had come back to it almost looked brand new. She smiled as she walked through. It felt like years since she had been able to walk through the doors, and there was one thing she always wanted. She then kicked the door in

"We made it back alive," she screamed as everyone laughed at her
"What have I told you about kicking the doors in, Wendy" Miko shouted after they had returned. Mavis allowed her to set up her old shop in the pub and officially placed managership or something like that on her, taking some of the responsibility off Mira's shoulders
"sorry, couldn't help it," Miko rolled her eyes.
"It's nice to see you two doing well," Lily said as he walked up to the pair.
"Welcome back, you too," Mira said. "I hope you're all rested up."
"You bet, Mira," Wendy said, "and the cherry trees seem to be doing well to"
"That's great," Mira said "now that should be all we have to do," Mira said "if you want, you can get back into the swing of things and take a job" Mira smiled "ever since we got back from the games, we've been swamped"
"We have more jobs coming in than I think we know what to do with," Miko said. "Though I'm glad they're no longer under the counter, " she shook her head, "but I don't think we have the manpower to get through these coming jobs."
"Where's Natsu," Wendy asked, "and the others."
"As I said, we've been so swamped, I sent Natsu and Erza to go out on a job, and Gray and Lucy went with them. I think they're going to meet up," she said. "Happy, and Carla went to visit the exceeds," Mira said
"Then I better start helping out," Wendy said, "fairy tail is on the job of getting us out of the jobs."
"Aye ma'am," Kinana said, "my first job. I'm so excited," she screamed
"Oh Kinana" Mira said "Goodluck" Mira said "be safe and"
"I know, Mira," Kinana noted, "besides, I have Wendy with me."
"Yeah, so let's get to picking," Wendy said as she ran to the board
"How about this one," Kinana asked, "a monster hunt" she smiled
"I mean, if you want," Wendy said, " you coming, Lily," Wendy asked, "for old times' sake."
"Gajeel's busy with something in town, so I don't think he'll mind," Lily said
"The job is in Doromud Village," Mira said "you might need to check the map to get here," she said, "apparently, a mole has been terrorizing the village."
"a mole," Wendy asked
"Yeah," Mira said, "they put a hit on it."
"Well, we should get going," Wendy said, "from here, that's about three hours, right."
"You got that right," Mira "good luck, you three."
"You do realize we're taking a wagon, right," Kinana said
"Wait, I thought that was on foot," Wendy screamed
hours later. Wendy had fallen to the ground in pain as Kinana laughed. "Wendy, I get that you are in pain, but it could be a little quieter," Kinana asked
"I'll get right on that," Wendy groaned as the wagon came to a stop
"Sorry, kids, but this is as close as I can get to Doromud Village," the man said, "as you can see, they're having some plumbing issues. I have to take a pretty long detour to get around it."
"Wow," Lily muttered "I think that's mud."
"The village must be having problems," Lily said as the boat came up to them.
"You must be the solo wizards," he said, "nice to meet you; I'm the village elder."
"One mole did all of this" Wendy asked.
"Yes," the village elder said, "the drainage problem will eventually solve itself if you can get rid of that god-forsaken beast."
"Leave it to us," Wendy said as he left behind her Kinana and Lily hopped back into the boat, trying to keep up with the dragon slayer as she jumped from building to building.
"Bold words, we don't even know where the damn thing is," Kinana muttered,
"They said it was massive," as if on cue, the ground around them started to shake as a giant green-skinned creature appeared from the mud behind them Kinana and Lily looked in shock, "that's a big mole."
"I don't think it's a mole," Kinana shouted as it slammed itself into the pair's boat into the sky "ahh, Wendy," Kinana screamed.
"Hold on," Wendy shouted. {Sky dragon: roar}" she screamed as the mole went under the mud slapping her with its tail and sending her into the boat. Before long, she felt her motion sickness coming over.
"Really," Kinana asked as the mole popped up behind her. "Oh shit," Kiana screamed as it started to rumble around, knocking Wendy into the mud as they all began to run from the mole as it chased them. "Wendy, you're the veteran job hunter. Do something "
"I am doing something, trying to live," she screamed
"Wait a minute," Lily said. "I can fly," he shouted as he picked up Kiana and flew off
"Hey, traitor," Wendy screamed. She grabbed a tree, climbing up it as the mole knocked in a tree "leave me alone," she called as she landed on the roof, "that was something."
"I think you mean embarrassing," Kinana muttered.
"you three aren't causing trouble, are you" a voice called the trio turned to see Natsu, Erza, Gray, and Lucy standing on a hill behind them.
"Natsu," Wendy called as she jumped to her fellow dragon slayer, giving him a hug and swift punch to the shoulder.
"Nice to see you on the job, child," Carla said
"Looks like they're playing in the mud to me," Happy said
"you three need help," Erza asked, concerned "it looked like that thing was working you over."
"Yes," Kinana admitted
"No," Wendy almost whispered though she almost agreed with Kinana
"Maybe," Lily said
"Aye, with all of us here, there no way that thing can work us over," Happy said
"So how are the exceed" Lily asked
"They're fine," Happy said, "they asked about you too," Happy said
"Yeah, I had some things to take care of," Lily said. "I did plan on stopping by."
"Yeah, are overnight job being easy," Lucy said. "Natsu and I got this whole job thing back on track," she laughed "it's nice to have enough jobs to get by now.
"Bandits are nothing," Erza noted, "with all these jobs, we just want to relax when we get back."
"Alright, one more job, then we've earned ourselves a break," Natsu said
"Alright," Lucy said as she pulled out a key, "so Natsu, you ready," she laughed "it's your turn to be the bait." she screamed, "{open gate of clock constellation: Horologium}."
"Wait, what" Natsu called before he could move; here was placed inside of Horologium.
"Hey, you made me be the bait on our last job, so now it's your turn," she said
"don't worry, buddy, we'll put you in slowly," Happy said
"Yes, all you need to do is find the mole," Carla said
"Thanks, Horologium," Wendy said, "We owe one."
"it's no problem, my dear. Glad to be of assistance" Horologium.
"I'll give you a nice sponge bath; after all, this is done," Lucy said as Horologium was placed in the mud.
"So where is the thing," Natsu asked
"I'll let you know with my radar." Horologium said, "that was fast."
"Where is he coming from, right or left," Natsu asked "turn so I can face him" Horologium turned as the mole was right in his face "get us out of here," Natsu screamed
"I think we got a bite," Happy said
that probably just Natsu getting antsy," Carla said as Natsu and Horologium were punched out of the mud, landing them both in a tree as the mole came from the ground
"Target in sight," Erza screamed, "now hit with everything you have."
"{sky dragon: roar}"
"{poison devils: rage}"
"{Fire dragon: roar}"
"{Ice make lance}."
the mole ducked back into the mud as it swam off "where did it go" Natsu screamed as it popped up, slamming the boat that Erza, Lucy, and Gray were on, sending them into the mud as Natsu jumped, trying to punch the mole as it went back into the mud causing him to land on Gray
"What you think the mole was on my head" Gray screamed
"Well, I was aiming right for it, so maybe it was," Natsu shouted back
"Good to know that hasn't changed," Lucy muttered
"Wendy, do you see the mole" Erza asked
"Guys, it's right behind you" everyone stopped as they looked around, seeing the mole looking right at them before screaming as they ran off. "Hold on," Wendy called as she tried to attack the mole, but it went back into the mud, coming up and trying to bite her as he jumped out of the way "bad idea," Wendy screamed, "bad idea," she again.
"This thing is catching up fast," Gray shouted, "so I'll get us to some higher ground," he screamed as he created a large pillar.
"I can't climb it," Kinana screamed, "it's too slippery."
"Grab my hand," Lucy shouted as she grabbed the girl, pulling her up as they sat down as the mole left them alone again.
"That was close," Wendy muttered, "this thing will kill us."
"We need to get ready," Natsu said, "we need a better plan."
"There is only one way to beat this kind of enemy," Erza said, "we need to draw it a place where we can have the advantage."
"Guys," Lily shouted
"it's back for more," Happy screamed
"It is looking at us from underneath the ice," Carla screamed as they looked at the mole; she slammed itself into the ice shattering it as they all jumped away, landing in the mud again as they looked at the who stared at Kinana.
"Umm, hi," she muttered as it started to chase her "ahh, Natsu, help me," she screamed. "Wendy do something" she shouted as he climbed up a tree and started jumping from branch to branch."
"Hold on, Kinana," Happy shouted.
"Were coming" Carla screamed as she grabbed her as the mole slapped them with its fin.
"now" Natsu screamed "{fire dragon: roar}"
"{Sky dragon: roar}
"{Ice make: lance}
"You okay," Lucy and Lily asked as they pulled Kinana into a boat "what's with this thing."
"I don't know," Kinana muttered as they all turned around, "maybe we should ask the village elder. as they climbed to the top of the roof, going back as the village elder turned to them, giving them a smile as they shook their heads "we were hoping you could tell us more about the mole."
"I see," the elder said "you see, not too long ago, that mole was actually a villager's pet," he explained "it was a small adorable creature that caused no trouble, but one day the owner had to leave, and for whatever reason, the damn fool left that thing behind" the elders sighed as he turned to the town. " Thinking it had been abandoned, it grew bitter and angry, causing all sorts of trouble, eventually increasing to the size you see today," he sighed, "and now it's come to rec its vengeance of humanity."
"I see," Erza said, "now if only we had a way to catch it."
"It seems to be going after Wendy and Kinana a bunch."
"Not on your life, cat," Wendy and Kinana screamed.
"Fine then," Erza said, "we draw straws; he said, "we need bait, and it would appear that this thing is after a mate, so we will use that to our advantage" as they pulled straws that Erza had Lucy pulled the shortest one.
"What, oh come on."
"Looks like we have some mole bait."
moments later, Lucy was sailing down the mud river in a wedding dress. "I hate all of you."
"You look gorgeous, Lucy," Wendy said
"I think the right word is beautiful," Kinana said
"I just hope we can save her before the mole makes it official," Erza said
"That won't be pretty," Natsu laughed
"We should take a picture to remember your big day." Happy teased
"Bite me, furball," Lucy screamed as the mole appeared from the ground "not so fast {open gate of the maiden: Virgo}" she called as Virgo appeared
"Your wish is my command, princess," Virgo said before she fell into the mud "this was fun, but can I go home and take a shower now."
"You just got here," Lucy said as the mole began to charge her "look, I know we're in mud, but you should be able to dig right," Lucy asked, "so you think you can take that thing down."
"of course," Virgo said, "but first." she grabbed Lucy's risk "your safety is my top priority, princess," Virgo said, "so please come with me," she said as she started dragging her through the mud, ruining her dress in the process as the mole gave chase.
"Not feeling very safe right now," Lucy screamed
"Man, fast little bugger," Natsu said,
"Cause he's chasing after his lady." Happy said
"Mira was right," Kinana said, "love is boundless."
"you're scaring me," Wendy said
"Yeah, guys, I'm doing fine over here," Lucy screamed as Virgo spotted a piece of solid ground.

"Land hoe, princess," Virgo shouted. She tossed Lucy before charging at the mole "those who offend the princess must be punished," she screamed as the mole dived again "my master has spoken. You will not escape me," she screamed as she slammed into the underbelly of the mole sending it into the air.
"Now your chance, guys," Lucy screamed
"{Fire dragon: roar}"
"{Sky dragon: roar}"

"{Ice make: Lance}."
all the attacked managed to land a hit on the mole sending him to the air as Erza and Lily jumped dot the air Lily changed to his battle mode as they landed a hit on the mole sending it to the ground as Carla and Happy flew in with a large net covering it
"Now that's a win for teamwork," Natsu laughed
"So, what are we going to do with it," Wendy asked "we can't let it go. It'll just go back to attacking the town."
"Well, that client we worked for," Lucy asked, "didn't he says he needs a new attraction for his zoo," Lucy said
"Oh yeah, I remember that job," Natsu smiled "hold on, big guy," he smiled, "we got a brand-new home waiting for ya."
"Wow," Kinana said, "never knew jobs could get so chaotic" she laughed
"Yeah, but when you go with friends, they can be a lot of fun," Wendy told her
"I agree," Lily said

Miles away, Zeref sat alone in an open forest before a presence came over him. "I thought I felt your presence at the grand magic games, Zeref. Did you watch"
"Ahh, Mavis," Zeref said as he turned to see the women, "I was wondering when you show up to look at me with those big distasteful eyes" he laughed "it been too long," he said
"Almost seven years since we've been this close to each other," Mavis finished as she approached him. The air grew cold as the wind started to blow as Zeref looked into the distance, "still searching for a place to die."
"The place of my death was decided long ago," Zeref laughed. "I've been around for a few centuries now, Mavis," Zeref told her, "witnessed the rise and fall of nations and kingdoms" he smiled "no matter how many wars are raged," he laughed, "evil continues, wickedness" he sighed "with each new era I wish these would go, but man has yet to change and grow."
"There are always those who fight for what they think is right," Mavis argued.
"Come now," Zeref said, "those idealists are the worst of them," Zeref said, "lying to themselves and each other." he sighed as he stood up. "I've thought about it for seven-year now," he said "you and I both bear this curse," he said, "but unlike you, I will reject this world," he smiled, "cause no matter what I try, it keeps rejecting me."
"So, I assume there will be fighting," Mavis asked.
"Not quite," Zeref told her as the area around them started to die, "more like a one-sided annihilation" he gave an evil grin "not a man-woman or child will be spared," he said
"I want to see the world for what it is," Mavis said "flawed yet caring," Mavis said, "this world may be cruel, but it is also beautiful" Mavis smiled as the area started to grow flowers blooming around her "we will protect the true value of life and hopefully, in turn, put others on the right path because we accept this world as it is" she gave a dark glare to Zeref "I swear my children will stop you," Mavis said,
"we will wipe your stain from this land,"
