The men dressed in black, the women chose their own colors. Kikyo chose red and it was very fitting. She was calm and collected, of course she had no reason to fear for she knew who she was going to marry.

Kagome picked white. It was an odd color to pick, no one ever did. She didn't know why she even chose it. She did not sleep at all the night before and was found staring almost like in a sleep, into the mirror.

"You could have chosen someone, Lord Touga would have sought it through," Kikyo spoke from behind her red vail.

"Who would I choose?" Kagome asked in a tired tone.

"Anyone, you could have had anyone, hell even his elder son,"

"You know very well I could not have chosen; I could have made a request that could have easily been rejected by the male,"

"Aw, are you afraid he would reject you?"

"Who?"

Kikyo sighed "Lord Sesshomaru,"

"I would never even suggest such a thing," She was to tired to sound shocked, she was trying to save what energy she did have for later.

"Come ladies it is time,"

The towns people came out to watch the women as they made their way down the stone path to the matchmaker's home.

Outside her home stood Touga, his sons and other male families waiting for a bride. To Kagome Suprise Sesshomaru was with them. She didn't figure he would care about such things, but then again, his father most likely made him come.

"You heart is racing" Kikyo whispered.

Kagome took in a deep breath and closed her eyes. Once they arrived the women, with help from one gentleman, knelt on pillows on the ground in fron of the massive doors.

"She chose white," Sesshomaru spoke,

Touga looked at Sesshomaru "Are you surprised?"

"Her sister chose red,"

"It's your brothers color, and the two women could not be further apart from each other,"

He wondered for a moment what her statement meant.

"She is a wildflower,"

"Wildflowers come from weeds,"

"And yet they are free to bloom however and whenever they want, pick a rose and you might get a thorn, pick a wildflower and you have a flower,"

The doors opened and Kikyo was called first, and one by one women were called in.

"Lady Kagome,"

Kagome stood and paused only for a moment before making her way inside.

"It is done, let us return," Touga stated turning,

"You do not wish to stay?" Sesshomaru asked,

"The woman will be brought to their husbands, we won't know anything till tomorrow,"

"Why did you make me come?"

"I requested, you came I did not force you,"

"Perhaps I was curious,"

Touga smirked.

Inside Kaede stared at Kagome. It was a bit unnerving.

"Kagome, you could have chosen,"

"I wouldn't want to force anyone to be with me,"

"Tell me, is there anyone that you fancy, perhaps I could help,"

Kagome's lips parted "No one," She whispered, hell the only man that even peeked her interested and not in a romantic notion was Sesshomaru. Like hell she was telling anyone that.

"Such a sweet child you are,"

Kagome smiled,

"You know I chose Kikyo for Inuyasha before the even asked,"

"Really?"

"Hm, you see my dear I chose two souls based on many things,"

Kaede pours tea "Many think matchmakers match, matches, people who are the same but that my dear is incorrect,"

Kagome tilted her head,

"Kikyo and Inuyasha and quiet opposite yet in a balanced way. She is stern, serious, and deeply rooted, he is playful, causal and unconventional and yet when they are together, they have a way with each other, their powers flow and sync and they become one person,"

It sounded beautiful.

"Lord Touga asked me to be extra careful of you,"

"Did he, suggest someone,"

"No, he felt you would be displeased with that,"

Kagom looked down into her tea.

"I have given much thought into you, you are unlike any other,"

"I'm not special,"

Kaede put a finger under Kagome's chin and made her look up "You are love, freedom, innocent,"

"I have decided," Kaede helped her up "Do not be afraid,"

"Afraid?"

"To love,"

Her vail was reset. Kagome would not know who her husband was till he came to meet her and he would not know who his wife was until he came to greet her.

They are taken to unmarked places and left together over night. No one would know till the next day who got matched with who.

Meanwhile Sesshomaru was staring off at fire light, which signaled, and man and wife had met. Huts in the hill side slowly started to light up.

"It is a beautiful sight, a rite of passage,"

Sesshomaru said nothing,

"Have you not decided on anyone?"

"No,"

His father placed a hand on his shoulder "Then it is time,"

Sesshomaru looked at him,

"You have been matched,"

Sesshomaru was shocked, he looked to the hillside again,

"You have chosen for me?"

"No, I have had no say the letter just came,"

He handed it to Sesshomaru.

The match maker has matched him, his perfect mate. Now he cursed not paying more attention to all the women who showed up today. Instead, he was focused on father's little project.

"You could reject it,"

He could, but it would dishonor his family and hers,

"You could meet her and then decide,"

That would dishonor her and almost unsure life on the streets with no husband. Matchmakers matched souls and if he were to reject her it was like staining a soul and in their eyes, you only had one soul partner, mates for life to reject her was to take her life.

Sesshomaru tighten his fist around the paper. "A little forewarning would have been nice,"

"Had I known,"

"Do not give me that, the matchmaker answers to you,"

"You did not wish for my hand in your bonds remember,"

Sesshomaru cursed it,

"She has never been wrong,"

"She is human,"

"It is up to you Sesshomaru, I cannot undo anything,"

Sesshomaru closed his eyes. It was time of course. Everyone he knew was mated, even his little brother and the village wildflower.

"Are you afraid?"

Sesshomaru glared at his father " I will go and meet my bride,"
