Time froze. Everything surrounding Adam stopped. His heart had skipped a beat and stopped. Sophia was missing. Gone. He couldn't believe it. First his sister and now his niece. This wasn't happening; this had to have been a cruel sick joke.

"Soph...I...I gotta find her" Adam spoke, after getting his voice back.

"Adam no. Your still hurt" Hank told him

"I don't care she needs me"

"Sophia needs you alive"

"I...I can't lose her"

"You won't. I give you my word we'll find her"

Meanwhile

Sophia was slowly coming too, her head and body hurt. It felt as if she got hit by a truck. When she opened her eyes her vision was blurry; it took a few minutes for it to clear. The seven-year-old kept blinking. Soon her vision cleared.

As she looked around she realized she was no longer with her uncle's partners Kim and Kevin, they were nowhere to be found. She looked around the room she was in. The room was done up for a seven-year-old girl. The walls were a mixture of pink and purple. A few posters hung on the wall. The bed was a full size, it was pink and purple bed sheets with the matching comforter and pillow cases. On the bed were lots and lots of stuffed animals.

What had really shocked the young girl was it was all her stuff from Adam's place. How'd it end up here? How'd she end up here? She had gone to the door and attempted to open it. The door was locked and she couldn't get out. Soon she started pounding her little fists against the doors.

"Uncle Adam! Uncle Adam! Grandpa Bob! Grandpa Hank! Someone! Anyone help!" She called through the door.

The house was empty, her small voice just about echoed in the house, there wasn't anything she could grab to break down the door. All she could do was pound on it till her small fists gave out. She was sitting curled up on the bed when the door opened and a tall man had walked inside. He had sandy blonde hair, piercing green eyes, he wore regular clothes of a shirt and jeans with sneakers. He wore glasses. He had some resemblance to Sophia.

The man had carried in some food. "I brought this for you"

It was a brown McDonalds bag, it had a couple burgers, some fries, some nuggets, and he had juice for her. He passed it over to the seven year old. Sophia slowly took the bag unsure if she should eat the food or drink the juice. The youngest Ruzek knew to never take stuff from strangers, one rule her mother, uncle and grandfather had always taught her.

"T-thank you"

"Your welcome. I didn't know what you'd like so I got you a bit of everything"

She peeked in the bag and glanced back at him. "What's your name?"

"Ian. What's yours?"

"Sophia"

"That's a really pretty name"

"Why am I here?"

"Because this is gonna be your new home"

Her face fell. New home? She didn't wanna be here, she wanted to be with Adam and her grandfather. That was her home. Not this run down house.

"This isn't my home. My home is with Uncle Adam and Grandpa Bob"

"Not anymore, this is your new home"

"No! I wanna go home!"

"This is your home!"

Before Ian had lost his cool with her he left the room locking the door. Sophia sat on the bed crying. She knew one thing for sure; her Uncle Adam and Grandpa Hank was on the lookout trying to find her. Or she hoped.

While

Kim and Kevin were taken to Med to be treated for their injuries, everyone was back at the district. Adam couldn't focus his mind raced a thousand miles a minute. All he could think about was his little niece scared and alone in the hands of some psychopath. Hank had pulled him off the case.

Half from his injuries and the other half from it being a conflict of interest case. The young detective had begged for what seemed like forever to stay on the case but Hank forbade it. Coming up the squad was a very pissed off Bob Ruzek as he stormed right for Hank's office. Hank was getting off the phone when Bob entered his office and closed the door.

"What the hell is this my granddaughter is missing?!" Bob yelled.

"She was taken on the way to a safe house, I got the others looking now. Take it down a notch Bob. My people were injured in the crash as well" Hank told him sharply.

"You let my granddaughter get kidnapped Hank!"

"Let's get some things clear Bob. One, I didn't let anyone take Sophia. I put her and Adam in protective custody until this blows over. This wasn't on me. Two, we have Ryan in custody. We may have a new suspect in the case. We think this person took Sophia"

The older officer turned to Hank with a near pleading look. "Who?"

"Ryan's brother. Ryan told my detective that the fight he had with Emma was about Sophia, apparently she told him he may not be Sophia's father. His brother might be"

Bob's face fell. "Emma..she never told me"

"She was probably to embarrassed or ashamed"

"Hank please. I don't care what Emma has done. What's done is done. Just please, please find my granddaughter"

"You know I will"

"I'm sorry for blowing up the way I did. This whole thing has me rattled"

"I understand, it's why I took Adam off the case"

"I wanna talk to him. To Ryan"

"Bob you know I can't do that"

"Hank please. I need answers"

"I'll get you the answers you need"

"Let me do it please"

"I'm sorry you know I can't. I will keep you updated every way. You have my word"

Adam couldn't take it anymore, he got up from his desk. He winced feeling pain in his ribs and stomach area. Alvin went over to help him.

"You alright kid?" Alvin asked.

"I'm fine Al, I just need some air. Clear my head" Adam spoke, he hoped his partner saw through the lie.

"And I'm the king of England. Adam, I know your emotions are high right now but you're off the case. You can't go anywhere near Ryan. Hank won't allow it and neither will I. We will find Sophia you have my word"

"Al please, I need to talk to him. He could know something. Anything"

Alvin went quiet, none of them told Adam what Ryan had said to Antonio. They felt if he found out he'd explode and go rouge. That couldn't happen. When the entire squad fell silent on that Adam knew something was up. They were hiding something from him.

"What are you guys not telling me?" He looked around to his team.

"We don't know what you mean Adam," Erin said first.

"You're all not telling me something. What is it"

"Adam you don't wanna know, trust us" Antonio told him this time.

"I thought we were a team, we're supposed to trust each other. Have each other's backs. And you're all hiding something from me. Please just tell me"

"Ruz, you seriously don't want to know" Jay chimed in.

"Just tell me dammit!"

Alvin then decided to break it to his partner. "Ryan told Antonio that the fight he had with Emma was indeed about Sophia. He may not be Sophia's father, his brother might be"

That had caused Adam's heart to drop down into his gut he then stormed off to the cage he was a man on a mission. He was ignoring all the pain that shot through his body as he went down to the cage.

Looking over Ryan saw Adam coming over, he scoffed. The young detective had gone over and grabbed the cell door mainly for support the other half in anger. A fiery look in his eyes.

"Were about to have a talk"

Meanwhile

Over at the house, Ian kept Sophia locked up in the room. He was packing suitcases for him, for Sophia, he had a small pouch for some drugs in case he had to use them on Sophia. He was taking Sophia and leaving Chicago, his goal was to leave the country.

Sophia was trying to find a way out. If she couldn't get out she hoped to leave some kind of message she was there. She grabbed a pencil from the desk and wrote on the wall. The seven year old hoped it was a good enough message to leave. Now all she could hope was her uncle was coming and fast.
