Hey, fairy tail fans, and welcome back to a fairy tail re-told. We have two more filler chapters coming up for you all, this chapter and the next one. After that, we're getting back into our regularly scheduled fanfic. but more on that when we get there, so I hope that you all enjoy the chapter
Last time on a fairy tail re-told
Mira: I'm glad Laxus is back, but what has he been doing all this time
Natsu: probably what he did when he wasn't here
Mira: but what was it? That is the question, baby bro
Natsu: no, no, it's not
Mira: yes, yes, it is
"Nothing on these dragons of Ishgar," Levy said as she placed the books down "all I was able to find in this book was that they revered," she said as she looked at the dragon slayer in front of her. "apparently the villages that they lived by were under there protection."
"So how did they feel about humans," Wendy asked
"doesn't say," Levy said. "I'm sorry," she said
"That's alright, Levy, you did your best," Natsu told her as he looked at the bored. It was empty for once. Natsu never thought he would be so glad to see an empty board. Still, according to Mira, more jobs were coming in tomorrow, so the sight wouldn't be a mainstay for too long. As the doors opened, Laxus, Freed, Bickslow, and Evergreen walked in the door; he smiled. They walked past them "hey man, Mira wanted to see you."
"right," Laxus said, "something about a job."
"I think so," Natsu told him.
"there you are, Laxus," Mavis's voice came in as she handed him the job with his name, "this is an odd case. It's a special request for you."
"for me," Laxus asked. "I didn't know that was a thing." Laxus looked over the job "so what's it for"
"no idea," Mavis said "good luck." she turned away "adn remember boy don't let the lighting control you" Laxus nodded his head
"Thanks, Mavis," Laxus said as he turned to leave, looking over the job "a plague of lighting, huh."
"That sounds like a heavy metal band," Happy muttered
Lighting man
The job hand comes in from the courier town of Borwatt as of late; it's been barraged by lighting daily. Nearly every building in the city has lighting rode on it as dark storm clouds hang over the side "well, this place has no short og lighting rods," Evergreen muttered.
"This place is a freaking ghost town," Bickslow said
"I'm sure the two are related," Freed said, "so much static."
"it's doing wonders for your hair," Bickslow laughed "you look like you're going super," he said as he pointed to their heads as their hair started to stand up "it's doing wonders for your hair, Ever."
"like you can talk about anyone's appearance," Evergreen told him,
"heads up," Laxus said as a single bolt of lightning came from the sky, striking the lighting rode
"that doesn't seem natural," Freed said as Laxus walked forward. "Laxus," Freed called,
"we got a client to meet," Laxus said as more lighting struck. Sticking his hand up, he started to absorb the lighting, much to the town's shock as he cracked his neck as the lighting continued to strike down "we don't have time for this," Laxus said
"that's brutal," Bickslow said
"lighting should not last this long" Freed said
"If the lighting doesn't give out, then Laxus will," Evergreen said, "we need to clear up the storm," Evergreen said {fairy machine gun: leprechaun}" she screamed only for it not to move the clouds.
"This is getting tedious," Laxus said "{lighting drakon: breath}" he screamed as he shot his attack at the sky, clearing the clouds.
"Mission accomplished," Evergreen asked.
"those clouds will be back," Laxus said, "we need to find a more permanent solution."
"There is still a lot of static," Evergreen muttered
"That means that storm is not the cause of the problem, but a symptom," Freed reasoned, "quite the mystery" as a large crowd soon surrounded the wizards
"holy, there everywhere," Bickslow said, "where were they hiding," he asked,
"wow, your Laxus," a boy asked, running up to him. "I watched you at the grand magic games. You were awesome. You took on all of Raven tail by yourself" he smiled
"We haven't had a clear sky in months."
"it so lovely to meet such an accomplished wizard."
"you're a solid ten."
"your grandfather is the wizard saint Makarov. He must be so proud of you."
"I think he's getting overwhelmed," Freed laughed.
"This is a lot of attention for him," Evergreen added
"I wish people would run up to me like that," Bickslow said
"do I look like I'm having fun," Laxus asked as he turned back 'now I understand why Natsu and Mira like to remain secretive."
"shake my hand, please," someone asked.
"Sorry," Laxus said. "I only use my fist for fighting," he said as he pushed passed them "a solid ten, huh," Laxus muttered as he walked away.
"I heard that" Evergreen laughed as Laxus turned away; his cheeks turned pink as two men walked up.
"hello there," one said. He was a man of small stature. Wears a yellow long-sleeved shirt that only shows one visible button, topped with a pink coat. His lower garment shares the color of his coat. He also wears black colored shoes. "my name is De Cybele; I am the mayor of this town." he smiled "and this is my secretary Ga Maille," he said as the man gave a bow. "I take it you're the wizard they call Laxus."
"yes," Laxus asked
"wonderful," De Cybele said, "it's an honor to finally meet you," he smiled, "it rare to meet a lighting man with such wattage; we like what we saw and would love to see more," he smiled.
"While I'm sure the town is grateful," Ga Maille said, "there is still much to discuss. Would you so kindly come with us," he smiled, "so we may discuss matters" he smiled "our town is forever in your depth, young man, one last applause for the thunder legion. the saviors of our town." the crowd gave large applause as the thunder legion followed the man to the mansion.
De Cybele smiled as the thunder legion sat on the couch across from him, the sky still clear after Laxus' display of power "my, I must say you solo wizards are an interesting bunch," he said, "for years you lasted in the shadows, then you come along to the grand magic games and now the entire kingdom, now the entire country is now on its head."
"so, the lighting plague, when did it start" Freed asked, ignoring the comment about solo wizards
a dark grin grew on De Cybele's face "the lighting came when you did," he shouted "you screwed this town, Laxus," he said
"don't you remember," Ga Maille said, "your last visit to our fair town a months before the grand magic games started
Flashback
Laxus sighed as he walked through town. "I haven't had enough to drink," Laxus said
"look, some old fart," someone said as a group of thugs walked up to them.
"what you call me pipsqueak," Laxus asked.
"you're talking a lot of shit for someone who is outnumbered," he laughed "take a long look around," he smiled "you must be going senile."
"oh yeah," Laxus said. You must be talking about my dad; just because you kids got three chest hairs between you doesn't make me old." he sighed as he started to push the "just leave me alone right now, kay" Laxus said
"not so fast," a thug said "you gotta pay the toll," he said
"so, it either pay up, or we leave you here broken and bleeding," another laughed
"funny," he said, "do us all a favor and go home to your mommies," Laxus said
"that it," a thug shouted as Laxus kicked him away, sending him to the ground
"that it," another shouted
"get him" they screamed as Laxus let out a lightning bolt. sending them all to the ground "wait, this is a wizard," they shouted "why didn't he tell us" they all screamed
"we're so sorry, mister wizard," a thug shouted as he pulled out some money "please take this for all your trouble."
"trying to buy me off with stolen money," Laxus asked
"What, no," a thug said "well, maybe" Laxus let out a growl before slamming the ground again, "get lost," he screamed as he punched the ground, sending a large bolt of lightning to the sky, causing a thunderstorm as Laxus looked down at the men in front of him "get lost."
End Flashback
"So, this is where I was," Laxus said, "and this place has been lighting city ever since."
"your damn right, moron," De Cybele said
"is it me, or the mayor has gotten different" Bickslow whispered
"he's showing his true colors," Freed told him
"The town of Borwatt used to be prosperous. Now courier avoids this town, and business has ground to a halt all thanks to you leaving the wrath of a lighting god in your wake," he told Laxus as he looked away.
"and do you have any proof?" Evergreen asked
"enough," Laxus said "so what do you want me to do," Laxus asked
"I just want you to finish the job you started," De Cybele said, "that's all I ask."
"and nothing else," Freed asked.
"do that, and we shall consider the score settled," De Cybele said, "the towns think of you as a hero, but they don't know that you are the root of their trouble," he said
"not to mention the reputation of your friends," Ga Maille said "during the grand magic games, you stood as a representative for solo wizards, not to mention your grandfather" he smiled "that is something you don't want to happen now, do you" he laughed "all so you could win a back ally brawl."
"do you think after everything" De Cybele asked, "do you think they can take the hit"
"that Mayor rubs me the wrong way," Evergreen said
"I don't really see it," Bickslow said
"of course, you wouldn't," Evergreen said, "but why does he need to blackmail us into a job we already signed up for," Evergreen asked, "it seems a little odd."
"I don't know," Laxus said, "but back then," he looked down, "I was in a different place at the time," he sighed "the old man always said not to let the lighting control me," he looked down "drakon slayer magic while strong is still artificial," Laxus said "it has its own brand of drawbacks, losing yourself to the element," he said
"The storm clouds are back," Bickslow said
"are you going to fix it like you did before" Freed asked
"no," Laxus said, "no more quick fixes. I started this problem, so I need to handle it" he smiled as he walked up to his friends "sorry for dragging you guys into this," Laxus said
"eh," Bickslow said, "you've dragged us into worse" as Laxus looked into the town, "something wrong."
"the town," Laxus said, "it doesn't just have an electric charge," Laxus observed "it's building one," he said as storm clouds started to form a circle above them, "as it starting to drain the lighting right out of my body." he sighed.
"that leaves only one option," Evergreen said
"We need to snoop around," Laxus said
"so, what is our goal, the mayor of the lighting," Freed asked
"I'm thinking both," Laxus said
[## I dark, forever ost##]
Ga Maille smiled as he poured some tea "you've outdone yourself with this one, mister rifter" De Cybele smiled, "this is a great one you've managed to haul in."
"yes," Ga Maille said, "but that nowhere near your performance, Mr. mayor" he smiled, "these solo wizards are a never-ending wellspring of opportunity," he smiled, "if only we were able to get a hold of them during their dark years."
"yes," De Cybele said. "Magnolia a town. of magic: he smiled "maybe we should move our operation there" they both gave a laugh "the small bit of static that wizard left behind is amazing," he laughed, "but what should we expect from the grandson of a wizard saint" he laughed "without that small bit of static our little lighting plague wouldn't have been possible."
"yes," he smiled, "and with his grandfather's reputation on the line, how much should we ask for when it comes to damages," he said. "I'm thinking five million for each building," he said, "these were designed by a famous architect."
"and heritage is no laughing matter," Ga Maille said, "so you could double it."
"truly sinister, Mr. rifter," De Cybele said, "sinister indeed" behind them; they did not notice that the cat statue's eyes moved.
[## Jaaku no Tsuchi ost##]
Laxus and the thunder legion ran through the town's streets as lighting ran rampant through the town "it's even coming the ground too," Freed shouted as the lighting started to take shape "what are those"
"lighting elementals," Laxus shouted as he jumped forward, striking them back.
"be a careful man," Bickslow said "remember you can only absorb so much lighting at once," he said
"I don't have a choice," Laxus shouted, "if I don't, and its release, it will take the town and you with it."
"there too many for Laxus to absorb," Evergreen said"{fairy machine gun" leprechaun"} she screamed as it did nothing "that didn't work."
"We gotta obliterate them," Bickslow said "{Baryon formation}" he screamed as he attacked the lightning elementals.
"I see," Evergreen said, "then take this {fairy bomb gremlin}" she screamed as the lightning elements reformed as Freed noted something weird with the statue as Laxus fell over.
"Laxus," Freed said
"I'm fine," he said
"Look there," Freed said, looking over to the statue, "lightning is coming from the ground there."
"This does look like the place I zapped those punks," Laxus said
"you two go on ahead," Evergreen said
"we'll make sure nothing follows," Bickslow said
As Laxus and Freed ran through the sewers as they came to a large sphere Laxus came to a stop, "that's my electricity," Laxus said
"How can you tell" Freed asked
"every user of lightning magic has their own wavelength," Laxus explained "it's almost like a fingerprint," he said,
"so you're lighting just been down here absorbing static from the ground," he said, "and causing the storm up above." Freed stroked his chin "so what are we going to do."
"if I hit it with everything I got," Laxus said, "it might cancel out."
"that's too risky," Freed told him. "as you are right now, it might be too much."
"There is no choice," Laxus said. "I don't like the mayor, but this sphere down here proves that he was right," he said as he jumped into the water, "so I got to fix it," he said as he walked up to the sphere. "there's going to be a big bang down here once I'm done so I'm going need you to contain it."
[##fairy tail main theme 2014 ver. ost##]
Laxus smiled as the lightning started to attach itself to him "{drakon slayer secret art: roaring thunder}" he screamed. She blasted the sphere creating a large explosion as Greed was blown back.
"Laxus" Freed screamed as the water in the sewer rose
"they did it," Evergreen said as the cat statue from before came up to them "what that"
"I possessed one of the mayor statues," Bickslow told her "what the news, kitty? You hear anything juicy."
Laxus fell to the ground "impressive," Freed said, "all that power, and you're still alive."
"The explosion," Laxus asked as he caught his breath
"I managed to contain it to this room," Freed said, "a simple incantation was all we needed."
"you're quick on your feet," Laxus said, "as always"
"well, short, time spells like this are my specialty," Freed boasted "that and master Makarov trained me well" a thud was heard as they walked up to see a green lacrmia rolled on the ground
"A lacrmia," Laxus muttered
"that explains it," Freed said "your magic didn't grow all that power on its own this Lacrima must have amplified it," he said
"But why," Laxus said, "how did it get down here."
"Laxus," Evergreen called, "we figured it out."
"Evergreen was right about the mayor," Bickslow said " he placed this thing down here and framed you," he explained as Laxus said nothing, a look of anger coming across his face.
De Cybele smiled as he sipped his tea, only for it to fall over and hit his face. "Mr. mayor," Ga Maille said as he ran up to him, trying to wipe his face as the ground started to shake, "what is this," he said as things started to fall over "look there," he said, "another lightning storm," he said as a single bolt of lightning got close to the mansion.
"But why isn't the lacrmia drawing it away," De Cybele asked as it struck the mansion as Laxus appeared from the smoke.
"Are you injured, sir?" Ga Maille asked as Laxus walked forward. Lightning bolts came from the sky as he jumped back in fear as Laxus held up the lacrmia
"this yours," Laxus asked.
"This is awkward," Ga Maille said as he backed up as Laxus threw the lacrmia into his stomach as he backed up.
"Grandpa," a voice called as a little girl came out. "I'm scared" Laxus stopped seeing the little girl. He smiled
"look like you're not a piece of human waste after all," he said, "make this right, mister Mayor," he said, "and you ever cross me or any wizard from my home," he growled. "I'll be back," he turned, "and you won't like it."
"so that's what happened," Lucy asked "man, talk about a scummy person."
"yes, but beating him up when his daughter was there would have been in poor character," Erza said "you guys did get paid for all that, right" the shocked looks of the thunder legion were all they needed to see
"We didn't want that scummy mayor's money anyway," Evergreen said
"Besides, the town sent us away with a parade," Freed said, "gratitude was all we needed."
"they totally stiffed you guys." Happy said
behind them, Natsu and Mira smiled as they looked at Laxus
"well, it happened," Natsu said
"yep, and that's that," Mira laughed "you're going soft on us, Laxus."
"shut it, both of you," Laxus said though they didn't fail to notice the smile break out on his face.
To be continued
Laxus has always been an exciting character and honestly one of the best-devolved ones in the series, but anyway, as always, tell me what you think, and I'll see you next time cause we're getting into one of my personal favorite filler episodes.
