"Hi Monroe, I was just calling to make sure you still wanted to meet up at the farmer's market tomorrow, so I can introduce you to Adalind." Nick called his blutbad friend and said.
"A grimm introducing a blutbad and a hexenbiest to each other. I would have never believed an event like that could possibly happen." Monroe said. "Especially in my lifetime. Yeah, I'll be there."
He would admit he was eager to meet the kind of hexenbiest who could be friends with a grimm.
Nick offered to pick everybody up in his truck, but Monroe insisted that he would be more comfortable meeting a hexenbiest somewhere outdoors and very public.
He didn't think Nick was lying when he said Adalind was a remarkable person, Monroe just wanted to be on the safe side. He was sure he could open his mouth and end up making things awkward.
"She is pretty." Monroe thought to himself when he met up with the couple who had obviously arrived together. "No wonder Nick is so smitten with her."
The grimm had never said anything out right, but the way Nick talked about the hexenbiest made the blutbad believe that there were certainly some strong feelings involved that leaned toward the romantic side.
And the way Nick was looking at Adalind only proved Monroe's suspicions.
The blutbad was actually amazed to discover how much he and the hexenbiest had in common.
They both had a fascination with history and culture, and they both enjoyed a good bottle of wine.
"I told you that you two would get along. You're both massive nerds."
Nick remembered how well they had worked together once all of the animosity had been erased. He also recalled how both seemed to be slightly on the neurotic side. Both able to overreact and anticipate the worst out of any given situation.
"Watch it buddy. All of the stuff we know might end up helping you in your grimm work." Adalind warned.
"I have no doubt that it will." Nick smiled at her, remembering the exact thing happening multiple times during the previous timeline.
As Monroe walked around with the grimm and the hexenbiest, he couldn't help but notice some flirty glances between the two.
And Nick often brushed his hand lightly over Adalind's hair, back or arm whenever he could.
"Something going on with the two of you?" Monroe asked Nick while Adalind was a few feet ahead, looking at handmade jewelry.
"We kissed." Nick said matter of factly.
"The way the two of you keep looking at one another, you seem to want more than just kissing."
"You have no idea." Nick sighed. "But neither one of us wants to take things too fast. Adalind said that she wants us both to be sure we're getting into something for the right reasons."
"A grimm and a hexenbiest." Monroe shook his head in disbelief. "Who would have ever imagined?"
In a different timeline, Nick would have said it was impossible. But he found out how good it could be with Adalind. And nothing had changed when she had gotten her hexenbiest back. Except maybe she became more passionate with him. An aspect Nick would not complain about. Having Adalind, losing her to Sean and Black Claw, then getting her back to watch her die in front of him caused Nick to go so crazy he was willing to sacrifice the whole world in order to get her back. He knew how important Adalind was to him. He would do everything he could to make her see that.
Nick's connection with the staff warned him that the fate of the world might just deepen on Nick having Adalind in his life and by his side.
"I can't explain it, but Adalind is the only thing that can keep me sane." Nick confessed with full honesty.
"Man, you do have it bad." Monroe said with wide eyed surprise at the comment.
Before Nick could reply, Adalind came back with a bright smile holding a mother of pearl butterfly pendant.
"Isn't this beautiful!"
"Very Beautiful." Nick replied, his eyes on Adalind's face and not the jewelry piece.
Her cheeks flushed red.
Monroe rolled his eyes.
Grimm
"We should do this again." Monroe said as they all headed back to their cars with their procured goods. "Having a grimm and a hexenbiest as backup is a great way to get the best product without getting conned by the seller."
"Right, that's why I wanted you to meet Adalind, to help you buy apples and squash." Nick retorted.
"Hey, you'll be insisting your girlfriend comes shopping with me when you taste my butternut squash and apple soup. It will satisfy even your enormous sweet tooth."
"Am I your girlfriend." Adalind asked Nick softly.
Nick put his arm around her, "If it's alright to start using labels, then yes."
"It's definitely alright to start using labels."
"Alright, before my teeth start falling out from all of this sweetness, I'm going to head home." Monroe proclaimed.
"You're not going to join us for dinner?" Adalind asked.
"Maybe some other time. Once you get" The blutbad motioned his hand back and forth between Nick and Adalind, "You know. Out of your system enough to be tolerable to be around."
"Monroe!" Nick said with shocked horror.
Monroe looked at the very wide eyes of the grimm and the hexenbiest, and cursed. He had made things awkward,
He knew he would.
