There once was a place, in the bad part of its town, that was the home for a multitude of creatures. Most of them were human, the others weren't. Some were literal animals, some were species that I'm not capable of naming. Some were royalty, some were common folk. But they all had at least one thing in common: They were all Super Smash Bros. characters.
This place was the Smash Mansion. And it no longer exists.
Why doesn't the place exist anymore, you ask? Well, you can blame one person:
The Happy Mask Salesman.
HOUR ONE: BEGIN OF THE END
"Yes, yes, that's the place," HMS said, waving his right hand towards the Smash Mansion, which he and his army were heading towards. In his left hand, he tossed a black orb that radiated a dark glow up and down. "How convenient of them to state that it is on their mailbox."
HMS sat in his wooden carriage, which was being hauled in by Ryu and Little Mac, with Ben Drowned by his side. His army consisted of all the Smashers that were in Termina (Ryu, Little Mac, Link, Young Link, Marth, Pac-Man, Ganondorf, Jigglypuff) and all the new Smashers for SSB5 (Chrom, Daisy, Dark Samus, the Inklings, King K. Rool, Richter, are you still reading this, Ridley, and Simon). There was a dark glow radiating each of them, and they all walked like they were hollow inside.
"We shall attack from the front. I love a battle that begins like an epic." HMS stated while handed the black orb to Ben Drowned. "Here. You're in charge of protecting this. Make sure nothing bad happens to it."
Ben Drowned, smiling creepily as always, disappeared for a moment. He then reappeared, but now holding his hands out. HMS placed the orb in his hands and he disappeared one more time so he could firmly grasp it.
"Very good," HMS's smile became just a little more creepy. "Now, continue onward, my peasants."
R.O.B. and I stood on the second floor of the mansion, gaping at the army coming towards us. "Well... This is bad." I muttered. "Hey, R.O.B., how do you think he was able to get the folks that were supposed to be in the mansion auditioning- R.O.B.?"
The look over just in time to watch R.O.B scurry down the hall and out of the sight. "Beeeeeep! Beep bop beep beeeeeeep!" he cried in utter horror. He couldn't believe he'd have to take part in another Subspace Embassy. He hurried to the stairs in hopes of being able to hide from all this in the basement. "Boop bip beeeeeeeeeep!" I last heard him scream before slamming a door.
"Those this mean you don't want to be part of my army anymore?" I called after him. Of course, I didn't get a reply. "Oh, fiiiiine," I groaned to myself before opening the window.
I looked down at the ground level and saw that Ranch was still giving out wristbands. Right then she was helping Papyrus put on his wristband while trying not to laugh at the fact he kept insisting he was probably the awesome-est dude that she's seen today. The two haven't noticed the death army approaching yet, which makes sense, they were still a couple hundred yards away and going two miles an hour.
I reached for my 3DS- oh. Right. I don't have that anymore. "Crap," I said under my breath.
Instead, I cupped my hands to my mouth, like that was going to make me sound louder or something, and yelled, "GET INSIDE! LOCK THE DOORS! WAR SEEMS TO BE BREWING!"
Ranch and Papyrus looked up. My sister squinted at me and yelled, "WHAT!?"
I rolled my eyes and then pointed towards the darkness army. "THAT! THAT!"
The two turned around and gasped. "Oh, noooooooo," Ranch stated as she dropped the two dozen multicolored wristbands she was carrying. "Okay! I'm going inside! Come one, Papyrus!"
"No, no, wait! Hold on! I dropped my wristband!" the skeleton said looked around. He reached down to the pile Ranch dropped and began digging around all the basically-identical wristbands. "I know which one it was! It had a light smudge of green on one of the corners! Help me find it!"
Ranch stared at Papyrus for a second, and instead of helping him she just went inside and locked the doors.
"Oooooh, poor guy. He looks screwed." I said to myself as I slowly closed the window.
I was about to head for the stairs when sirens started going off. Loud and longs sirens, so loud I couldn't tell where they were going off. I looked around me to try and figure out when the heck the speakers were when Sheik appeared out of nowhere.
"F###! Oh, Sheik! Hey!" I exclaimed over the sirens, now looking around to figure out where she came from. "Don't scare me like that!"
Sheik ignored me and instead handed me some of the wood boards she was carrying. "Get to work," she told me before rushing over to the window next to the one I just opened.
"Doing what? Starting a fire?" I asked before noticing she was boarding up the windows. "Ohhhh, okay!" I placed one of the boards up to the window only to realize I didn't have a hammer. Or nails. "Umm, quick question: How?"
Sheik ignored me again as she continued to board windows up with her bare hands.
HOUR TWO: THE FIRST ATTACK
Finally, HMS and he crew reached the mansion. He hopped off his carriage and approached the mailbox. It was a dinky old thing, filled with ignored bills and letters from the Smasher's friends and family. The right side of the mailbox it read the mansion's address, on the left it was painted in a matter that would make you think it was tie-dyed, but actually, the Pikmin just liked painting on it for some reason.
HMS studied the mailbox, smiling at the silly little paintings and the fact the address had the number 420 in it. He even pulled a letter out of the mailbox, committing his first crime on the Smash Mansion property: Mail thief.
He continued smiling as he saw that it was from Pac-Man's kids. He opened it and read about how much his children missed him, and how much they were looking forward to him moving back home after SSB5 is released. "Baby Pac-Man is quite the artist," HMS said to Pac-Man, pointing out the drawings that came with the letter. "You must be so proud of her."
Pac-Man stood next to HMS, saying nothing.
HMS patted the yellow guy's head before neatly places the letter back in its envelope. He then put the letter back in the mailbox before snapping his fingers and causing the whole thing to burst into flames.
"Alright! Now on to the bigger evil!" HMS walked away from the burning mailbox. He clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Not so fast!"
HMS looked over at the entrance of the mansion and saw Papyrus and a group of Smashers was waiting for him. Rosalina stood at the stairs, surrounded by two dozen of her Lumas. Olimar and Alph stood next to her, with about a hundred Pikmin by their side. And Papyrus? He stood at the doors, banging on them in hopes of being let in.
"Come on, fellas! Please let me in!" Papyrus cried as he began kicking the door.
The three Smashers ignored him and focused on HMS. "We don't want to fight you, Salesman!" Rosalina called out over the crowd. Olimar nodded his head at this statement, but Alph raised an eyebrow, clearly thinking the princess can speak for herself. But nevermind that. "If you let our fellow Smashers go and leave us alone, we can all act like this never happened!" Rosalina continued. "This is your one and only warning!"
HMS tilted his head at the sound of bargaining. He looked Rosalina strait in the eyes, which clearly freaked her out. "How interesting," HMS stated through his teeth. "I didn't expect bargaining to happen here today. How surprising..."
The salesman walked over to Daisy and held her chin. "Isn't it cute, peasant? Your friend is trying to bargain with me," HMS said to Daisy as he tilted her head a bit, making her face Rosalina in a mocking matter. You could almost feel how uncomfortable this all made Daisy, but she still looked like a shell of her self as her eyes burned into Rosalina's soul.
"Make up your mind, Happy Man!" Rosalina yelled as she raised her wand, ready to guide her stars into battle at any moment.
"Let me in! PLEASE LET ME IN!" Papyrus exclaimed as he tried to pull the hinges off the doors. "Undyne hasn't trained me for a civil war yet! She was going to next week! Oh please, let me in!"
While being ignored, Papyrus watched as HMS let go of Daisy's face. He took two steps towards Olimar and about twenty Pikmin rushed over to the front of him in hopes of protecting him. HMS couldn't help but chuckle at this. "Oh, my," HMS stated as he leaned against his wooden carriage. "You at all even more scared than I thought you'd be,"
Olimar's hands became fists. Alph noticed this and smiled, overly ready for a showdown to begin.
And once HMS turned his back on the three, it did.
HOUR THREE: BREAK-IN
On the main floor of the mansion, I pulled a coffee table up to one of the boarded up windows and stood on it. There was a crack between the board and through it, I was able to see the battle going on outside. And boy oh boy, was it not going well.
The army of about two hundred Lumas and Pikmin has now dwindled down to about thirty. Rosalina refused to call in more Lumas, she wouldn't risk causing her species to go instinct just to stop a store owner. Olimar and Alph tried to keep up with the dwindling Pikmin, but they finally realized they couldn't and just focused on fight the army instead. And Papyrus... Well, he was actually doing okay. After a bunch of Lumas spent about ten seconds praising his coolness, he agreed to dedicate the rest of his life guarding the front door. He was doing a pretty good job, actually. But his bone was starting to get tired.
HMS's army, on the other hand, was doing pretty great. They were able to wipe out over a hundred creatures in less than an hour, after all. "Yes yes, keep up the good work," HMS told his crew from the comfort of his carriage. "Everything will go as planned as long as we get inside the Mansion before nightfall,"
Ridley picked up Rosalina and threw her towards the mansion. She was able to stop herself midair and summon two of her Lumas to propeller her back towards him. She screamed at the top of her lungs as she barreled towards him, only for Ridley to move a few inches to the left and have her miss him completely. She ended up landing face first next to the wooden carriage.
"You're quite the fighter, princess," HMS stated as he got up from his lazy butt. He did a hand motion towards Ben Drowned, who still chilling next to him. Ben disappeared only to reappear with his hands now open. HMS took the black orb back and held it tightly in his left hand, causing his right hand to radiant black. "We can use more fighters like you," he hissed at Rosalina as he placed his hand over her eyes.
Too tired to move anymore, Rosalina just closed her eyes tightly shut. But that didn't prevent anything. Once HMS let go of her head her eyes opened wide to reveal a hallow look the rest of HMS's army had. She then stood up and with a flick of her wand, caused all of her Lumas to stop fighting.
I jumped down from the coffee table after seeing that. I looked around and found that the mansion was in the same state it was two hours ago: Absolute panic.
Video game character that was only there to audition ran around in utter panic. Master Hand and other Smashers were trying to direct the civilians to the basement (because someone already boarded up the only back exit) (Diddy Kong) (it was Diddy Kong that did that), but it was hard to hear anything with the damn sirens still going off.
The rest of the Smashers were already at there post, ready to fight once HMS's and their former friends reached them. The closest post was in the main hallway, (Where's the main hallway? Don't ask me, I'm literally making up the layout of the mansion as I go along.) so I began shoving my way through the crowd towards it.
After five minutes I was able to move ten feet. The crowds of people were way too thick. "Out of my way! Out of my f###ing way!" I screamed as I tried to climb over Doomfist's arm. Of course, no one listened to me. At this point, I just dropped to the ground and began crawling between people's legs. "Don't step on me! Don't f###ing step on me!" I now screamed as I made headway to the main hall.
Finally, I reached the nearest post. There stood Ice Climbers, Zelda, and Duck Hunt, watching as I crawled towards them.
"H- Hey guys..." I said as I slowly got back on my feet. "Did you know that crawling can be exhausting? 'Cuz it is! It really is!..." I fell back onto the floor and instead of trying to get back up I just rolled onto my back. "Yeah, so, you're probably wondering why I'm here..."
Suddenly, we all heard a loud CRASH! and the sound of wood splitting. The screaming from the crowd became louder as we watched everyone run away from the entrance. All the lights began flashing red as I saw Spongebob and Rayman run right past us.
"Outta my way! I'm not letting those freaks kick my buuuuutt!" Spongebob yelled as he jumped right over me.
"Bark bark! Bark!" Duck Hunt barked at Rayman as he went past him.
"Yes! Of course, this means HMS's army got in!" Rayman yelled as he and Spongebob rounded the corner and went out of sight. "Duh!"
