When someone confesses to you under the blooming sakura tree, what will you do? It was rumored that it was the most beautiful moment to ever experience. Many people who did this would officially become couples.

In a world where Noise attacks are very common and are regarded as special disasters, love continues to bloom in desperate times.

As someone who sets eyes on the person I liked ever since high school, I finally gather up my courage to make Lydian's well-known vocalist, American transfer student Sonnet Millia, become my girlfriend.

I will do everything to achieve my goal, no matter what obstacles I will face.

For I, Masanori Yukine, had 1 week to prepare for the most important day for the couples: Valentine's Day.

Day 1: Using my connections with Lydian, I had observed her for a while before asking the students about her. Many of them describe her as a beautiful and charming lady, which is the same information my friends told me.

I kept observing her and gathering information about her over and over until I was on the verge of giving up on my plan.

Luckily, one of her closest friends learned about what I did and told me everything I needed to know: Sonnet was a gentle and kind person who never backs down when it comes to helping people, plus we had some things in common.

However, I had to head back to my school since it was almost time, I thanked the girl for telling me about Sonnet and left the academy.

At the end of the day, I quickly left the school and headed home in a happy mood.

Now my first plan succeeded, it's time to proceed to my next plan.

Day 2-3: Screw this! I will postpone my second plan for now because I have to study for the exams. Good thing Lydian's exam schedule is the same as my school.

Unfortunately, my thoughts were nothing but Sonnet, in the end, I nearly lost focus on my studies but I somehow managed to pass the exam. God, at least they should've moved the schedule AFTER Valentine's Day dammit!

After finishing the exam, I was hanging out with my musician friends in the café, and to my surprise, Sonnet happens to be here along with her friends.

I just can't help but stare at her continuously until one of my friends noticed me and decided to call the girls out of nowhere.

"Hey girls! One of my buddies stared at your friend!"

"GREAT THANKS FOR THAT!"

So what happens next? I stormed out of the café in embarrassment and headed to the place where nobody goes there very often.

In the abandoned building that was once used by the Japanese soldiers back in World War 2, the atmosphere was very eerie, however, going to this place lets you have some alone time and watch the skies at night.

No one is there, I can do whatever I want without anyone disturbing me.

I took a deep breath and then…

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! CAN YOU AT LEAST GIVE ME PEACE!?"

I just hope everyone will forget what happened recently.

Day 4-5: The weekend is here and Valentine's is near, I have to do my weekly practice every Saturday. I was currently practicing two songs, one song written by myself for Valentine's Day and the other required to have both violinist and vocalist perform the song.

My second plan is to practice playing both songs for Sonnet on Valentine's Day.

I'm practicing at my secret place along with my mentor, Phil, a music teacher at Lydian. He has taught me how to play the violin ever since I was 10 years old and he was my parental figure who took care of me while my parents were away.

When I finished my song, I put down my violin and the bow on the smooth table and let out a huge sigh.

"My turn kid, I will show you how it's done" Phil takes my violin and I let him play it.

A few minutes later, Phil finished playing his violin and gave it back to me "You're on your kid, sometimes they need to continue practicing on their own for them to hone their skills without relying on their teacher."

"Is it my final challenge to become the greatest violinist, am I right?"

"Exactly kid, I will be watching your performance once it's Valentine's Day, so good luck." Phil grabbed his bag and left the building after that. I can feel the wind blowing in my skin, the cool breeze calms me down for a while.

I decided to call it a day and leave the building. When I got home, I ate dinner made by Phil, brushed my teeth, and went to sleep because I will start the second plan tomorrow with one of Sonnet's friends, the same person who provided me with information about her.

The next day, I waited at the mall and finally met up with Sonnet's friend, who introduced herself as Miko Itaba. We decided to go out shopping for everything we needed, especially for Valentine's Day.

The second plan is to buy the chocolate ingredients for Valentine's Day and buy the gifts Sonnet wanted. She prefers homemade chocolate, at least that's what Miko said.

In the middle of the shopping, Miko decided to start a conversation with me.

"Hey, Masanori?"

"Hm?"

"Can you ask me why are you determined to make Sonnet fall in love with you? You know she isn't the type of person who can easily date some random guy."

"That's because…Her voice managed to give us hope to keep on moving even in the toughest times, she was the reason why I was inspired to make a song dedicated to her."

"I see, so you like her a lot because of her voice and her personality." Miko said "To be honest you're different compared to other boys who wanted to date her. A person who was more interested in her talent than looks."

"Of course, I somehow developed feelings for Sonnet after hearing her singing for the first time."

"Hahahahaha, I wish you good luck Masanori, I hope your plan succeeded."

"Thank you, Miko."

After we finished shopping for the things we needed for Valentine's Day, we parted ways and went home as usual to prepare the final plan.

And that is to confess my feelings to her.

Day 6: One more day to go before Valentine's, while everything in school is the same, most of them were excited to either make their chocolates or wrap up a gift for someone they had a crush on. All of my buddies won't stop talking about that during break time.

I don't seem to mind them since I had prepared it all, this is what I always do when I'm not in a mood to talk to them about anything unless it's something that interests me.

But I put these thoughts away for now when we heard the school bell ringing around the school, it was still the same school routine which almost bored the students.

To their relief, the school hours ended and almost all of them, including myself, headed straight home to prepare the chocolates and gifts. Once we were all done, we headed to bed and waited for the next day.

Day 7: Valentine's Day has finally come! I can't wait to give these gifts to Sonnet and confess my feelings for her! All I had to do was to wait until class time was over. I nervously stared at the clock the entire time and….

RING

Everyone in my class raised their hands in excitement and started grabbing the gifts, while the teacher was clearing her throat, indicating she has an announcement.

"Since it's Valentine's Day, I wish you all good luck for giving those gifts to someone you love. Bye-bye!" The teacher left the room along with her gifts.

Without wasting this opportunity, I grabbed my bag and my violin case before I left the classroom and walked through Lydian to give Sonnet the gifts for her. Once I arrived at the gate, I saw Miko standing there, who seemed to be nervous.

"Yo Miko! What are you doing here?" I called her as I casually approached her, she noticed what I was doing and gasped in shock.

"Sonnet…" Miko slowly teared up and covered her face "W-What happened?!" I asked "She's…She's not here….I don't know why but Sonnet didn't come here to school today."

"WHAT?!"

"I tried calling her but to no avail, I even asked Phil if he saw her, his answers were the same, she wasn't present."

"No…"

This can't be….Sonnet isn't the type of person to be absent from school! No…No….

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Tears started leaking out, in response to what happened to Sonnet, I ran away as quickly as I could, ignoring Miko shouting at me. I can't believe this would happen on this happiest day, Sonnet, where are you?

For the entire day, I felt hopeless because my opportunity was crushed. When I returned to my school, my friends noticed my current state. How can I face them?

Before I could explain to them what happened, school was starting now and it felt like everything was normal, my life was colorless when my dreams were crushed. All I had was me and my feelings.

In the end, everyone who was lucky headed home, being in a happy mood while I headed one of the alleyways to have my alone time.

I stared at the gift and homemade chocolates inside the box, I continued to think about her voice and her smile.

However, my moment was interrupted when I heard something that shocked me. I slowly headed towards the source of the conversation and began spying on two men who seemed to know Sonnet.

"Hey, have you heard of Sonnet?"

"Yeah, the boss kidnaps her and takes her to a secret place. I heard this place was used by the Japanese soldiers back in World War 2, it was long abandoned so the cops won't catch us now."

"I can't wait, let's meet up with him shall we?"

"Hell yeah!"

That moment made me snap my senses, this description alone was enough for me to realize she was kidnapped. Using this information I had, I contacted Phil to call the police, and then I called Miko to tell her about Sonnet's situation.

Angered, I headed to my secret place all by myself. Upon arriving here, I dropped my violin case and stormed inside the building. There, I saw Sonnet being tied into a chair, her mouth was taped, next to her was a man with messy hair and had a creepy smile on his face along with the two men who I spied on earlier.

"Let that lady go, you son of a bitch!" I folded my sleeves and cracked my knuckles "What did she do to you?"

"Relax, this lady did nothing wrong, she is very special and we wanted to take her to become our plaything." The man answered with a creepy tone.

"You sickos! She was a kind and gentle person! She has helped anyone who is in trouble, she gave us hope with her singing! I…."

"WILL DO EVERYTHING TO REPAY EVERYTHING SHE DID!"

This made the man pissed and pulled out a pocket knife, despite the pleas from Sonnet, I decided to take him head-on, my desire to save her grew even stronger.

"SHUT YOUR MOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUTH!" He shouted at the top of his lungs and charged forward with his knife but before he could notice, I gave him a powerful right hook straight to the face, this resulted in the man getting knocked out cold.

The goons tried to get revenge on me but I easily beat them up with my fists, once the three were completely knocked out. I immediately rushed at Sonnet and untied the ropes, she removed the tape in her mouth when she was freed.

She hugged me tightly and let her cry "Thank you! I was so scared when these men tried to touch me." I gently patted her head "Don't worry, you are safe now, and oh, one more thing, follow me, I had a surprise for you."

Sonnet decided to follow my orders as we both left the building, it didn't take us long to finally reach the place that I planned to go to on Valentine's Day, this place was….

"The Sakura Tree?" I smiled when she realized where she's taken to "Don't tell me you…"

"I liked you Sonnet ever since your voice gave us all hope after the Noise attack, it gave me the hope to keep on moving. We may be living different lives but we had a common goal, and you know what it is?"

Sonnet gasped when the realization hit her again, she put on a warm smile and cried "So you want to help everyone around the world with our songs?"

"Yeah, that is my dream ever since Phil taught me how songs always help people." I also put on a warm smile "Sonnet I will ask you a question…"

"Will you become my girlfriend and sing the song together?" I asked as I gave her the gift.

She took it from my hands and opened it. She was surprised to see the gift was a heart-shaped diamond necklace, a gift that she wanted to have. Sonnet wears it around her neck and I could see her letting out a huge smile.

"Of course!"

"Thank you Sonnet, since we are a couple now, allow me to return the favor of giving me hope!" I grabbed both my violin and the bow. With things now resolved….

"This is a song dedicated to you…"

"A song that will reach everyone's heart and fill it with hope!"

This fateful day taught me one thing I will always remember, not just me, but to my future children. No matter how many obstacles, no matter how things get rough in the darkest times, there is always a song that will save everyone and there is someone who can save you someday.

Even if you become evil, there is always a person who is determined to save you from the darkest path, they will never give up until you're saved.

There is one thing Phil always tells me: Believe in the song of your heart.

Because these songs are the key to saving the future and saving someone's empty heart.
