After the coins, Nick remembered taking Juliette to a cabin with the intent to propose to her and encountering a woman who had an abusive husband and a golden egg growing in her throat.
He also remembered that the sheriff knew about the abuse and did nothing because he wanted half of the golden egg.
His proposal to Juliette had not gone the way he'd hoped, but Nick remembered how he helped the woman.
Things with Juliette turned out for the best, Nick had no regrets about any of that, but he knew he needed to go to the cabin in order to help the golden bird wesen woman.
Luckily, Adalind had a few days off. And since Trubel was essentially being home schooled, if you could call being tutored by Monroe and Rosalee in the spice shop home schooled, until she became more adjusted to being a grimm and the life that entailed, it was easy for Nick to suggest they head to the woods.
He had to admit, it was a lot easier dealing with an abusive klaustrike with a hexenbiest.
The moment Adalind discovered the husband hurting his wife and the man of the law who was doing nothing about it, she let loose the full wrath of the hexenbiest on them.
There was still plenty of time to enjoy the woods as a family after the state troopers had arrested and taken away the abusive husband and crooked sheriff.
Trubel was fascinated when Nick cut out the golden egg from the woman's throat, and stated her confusion when the woman wanted nothing to do with the gold.
"It's a reminder of everything bad that has happened to her." Adalind explained gently.
"But think of what it's worth. You can start a whole new life with all of that money."
"I can start a whole new life without it." The golden bird woman insisted.
"I'll help you with that." Adalind promised. "And don't worry about your husband and the sheriff. They'll never be able to hurt anyone ever again."
The evil grin on Adalind's face made Nick suspicious, so he asked, "What did you do?"
"I unmanned them. When a tom cat gets too aggressive, you have him fixed. They may still have their equipment, but it's no longer functional."
Nick put his arm around her with a grin, "Have I told you you're sexy when you're evil?"
Trubel made retching sounds. "Alright you two. No mushy stuff. I want to know what we're going to do with that golden egg."
What they decided to do was sell the egg to a trusted wesen jeweler and donate all of the money to shelters for abused women and children.
It seemed to be the best thing to do, given the circumstances. And Nick and Adalind thought it set a great example for Trubel, teaching her that grimm skills should not be used for personal gain.
It was difficult to imagine how things were going to go after making so many changes. Nick was unsure if the things he was anticipating to happen were going to happen when they did in the original timeline. Too many changes had already occurred. And too many things had already happened that didn't before.
Trubel was an example of that. She was younger than she had been in the previous timeline.
Nick feared that those he wanted to stop were already putting their schemes into motion.
But he wasn't going to let that stop him from correcting as many wrongs as he could.
Nick started thinking of the cases he had worked on, especially those involving wesen.
There was one in particular that he remembered that he had helped Hank with.
Hank realized that he had made a mistake when he arrested a man for killing his wife.
The man had claimed he and his wife were attacked by men whose faces had changed.
At the time, Hank had not believed him, but when the seasoned detective found out about wesen, he realized the man had been telling the truth.
There was less pressure the second time around, since the man was not scheduled to be executed until a year later.
But neither Nick or Hank liked the idea of an innocent man being locked away, so each was still focused on getting justice as soon as possible.
And if they could save a lot more lives, due to locking away the real monsters, it was all the better.
He couldn't just go after the true killer as a grimm and do away with them. They needed enough evidence to get the innocent man out of jail.
Luckily, with a brilliant hexenbiest lawyer on his side, Nick was about to get the proof needed to reopen the case.
Many of Adalind's lawyer friends/coworkers were eager to help her, believing that by being on her good side, they would be on the good side of her grimm boyfriend, and it would make it less likely for them to get their heads chopped off.
News traveled fast among the group about what happened to Adalind's mother. No one wanted to risk the same thing happening to them.
So it was amazingly easy to get the paperwork needed to get the innocent man out of jail and get warrants for the real murderer.
The District Attorney was skeptical, but the evidence the team gathered made her believe them. And set into motion what needed to be done to get the innocent man out of prison.
Actually arresting the wesen responsible was just as difficult as it was before. Having no qualms about attacking two detectives in order to remain free to eat people. And he still ended up getting shot when he ran from Nick and toward Hank.
They still had to tear up the floor of the "Grab and Go" to uncover the bodies hidden.
Nick was just glad that he hadn't fallen in the pit of decaying bodies the second time around investigating the killer's house.
In the end, an innocent man got to go free, Hank's conscience was cleared, and a lot of missing persons' cases were solved.
While it felt good to make right so many wrongs, Nick reminded himself to not let so many wins distract him from the fact that no matter what, there was always danger around him. Even when he took down one enemy, there were plenty more waiting for the opportunity to attack.
Nick loved his family, and he was willing to do anything to keep them safe.
And that included killing anyone who posed a threat to them.
Nick was not going to lose the people he loved if he could help it, and he was willing to give his last breath in order to do so.
